Well, I guess that's why they call it Les Bleues. There's chaos surrounding the French Women's team, and the FFF, in the run-up to the World Cup. On the pitch, there was a cardless Classique which saw Mbappe and Messi in magical form as PSG beat OM 3-0. Nice won the Derby du Sud by the same margin at Monaco as their impressive run of form continues. There were a bad set of results in the Europa League, Dejan Lovren helping Angers out on the scoring front, and the relegation battle continuing to confuse. Kris, Jez and Phil cover all of that, while trying to keep up with the Coupe de France quarter-finals 'en direct'.

A to i Modrićovou zásluhou. A kdo nakonec postoupí do finále?
On the day that Dejan Lovren turns 32, Matt Addison is joined by Theo Squires and Marcus Banks to discuss whether Liverpool are in danger of repeating a transfer mistake. The Reds were left to rue their decision to sell Lovren last summer but, after a horrendous run of injuries, the centre-back situation is looking a lot healthier. But would that change if Nat Phillips chooses to leave? However, is another defensive position more of a concern? If Neco Williams asks to go and is sold for £10m it would leave Liverpool with just Trent Alexander-Arnold as their sole senior right-back. As it stands it doesn't appear as if the Reds would seek a replacement for Williams. But does that have echoes of Lovren's departure? Or could Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain fill the void? Talk then turns to Jordan Henderson, whose first international goal sealed England's Euro 2020 quarter-final win over Ukraine, and Danny Ings, who has turned down a new deal at Southampton. Should Liverpool look to re-sign the striker? The panel discuss that as well as possible interest in Belgium starlet Jeremy Doku.Get exclusive podcasts direct to your inbox every week for FREE by joining the Blood Red Club. Series One sees us meet Liverpool FC's Academy class of 2013/14. At the halfway point of the series this is a bonus episode. We were hugely grateful to Jamie Carragher, Michael Beale, Conor Coady, Dejan Lovren and John Gibbons of the Anfield Wrap for giving up their time to talk about their views on the journey that young footballers make. From plotting the path of your journey to some of the horrors and pressures of social media, there are some excellent pearls of wisdom which make for a well worthwhile 45 minute bonus episode. We hope you enjoy.

After Liverpool finished their Premier League title-winning season with a 3-1 victory at Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon, there are plenty of topics for the Blood Red panel to dive into. Alongside host Matt Addison, the ECHO's LFC correspondent Paul Gorst and Joe Rimmer get into the details of that game, plus Dejan Lovren's transfer switch to Zenit, which was confirmed this afternoon. Will that move mean that Liverpool have their eye on a transfer deal this summer? And should it? Midfielder Adam Lallana is also going to depart, with his destination expected to be Graham Potter's Brighton. The panel discuss that potential transfer before speaking about their favourite moments of the 2019/20 season and picking their Liverpool Player of the Year. In the week that saw Jordan Henderson become the first Liverpool captain in 30 years to lift the league title trophy aloft, there are plenty of topics for the Blood Red panel to dive into. The Reds skipper's week got even better today as he picked up the Football Writers' Association Player of the Year award, much to the disappointment of Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola. Alongside host Matt Addison, the ECHO's LFC correspondent Paul Gorst and writers Connor Dunn and Dan Kay, they discuss both of those events, plus Dejan Lovren's proposed move to Zenit St Petersburg, the 5-3 victory over Frank Lampard's Chelsea that preceded the trophy lift, Jurgen Klopp’s pre-Newcastle United press conference, Adam Lallana's tearful exit, plus lots more. It's a packed show with plenty of talking points to get through, before the panel select their Liverpool XIs for the final Premier League weekend of the 2019/20 season. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp addresses comments made by Frank Lampard following Chelsea’s 5-3 defeat to the new Premier League champions at Anfield. Chelsea boss Lampard clashed with the Liverpool bench during Wednesday’s match after Andre Marriner adjudged Mateo Kovacic to have fouled Sadio Mane. Trent Alexander-Arnold scored from the resultant free kick. And after the game Lampard told Sky Sports: “For me, it wasn’t a foul from Kovacic, and there were a lot of things that weren’t going our way. But I’ve not got a problem with Jurgen Klopp. The way he’s managed this team has been fantastic. Fair play to Liverpool Football Club, they’ve won the league, but also don’t get too arrogant with it. That was my point, but it’s done.” Klopp responded to those comments at his press conference today to preview Liverpool’s final game of the season at Newcastle United on Sunday. This week's episode see's the lads review the last 2 weeks worth of football and preview the upcoming games which lead us to the final week of 19/20 season. Millsy & Judgy passionately dissect the recent performances of a number of individuals and agree that a number of players have reached the end of their Everton career. The lack of desire and effort is discussed as the blue's discuss a run of games that seen Everton take 1 from 9 and all but end the hope of a European place. Social media questions ask about the 442 formation and Judgy analyses the pro's and con's of a 442 approach and if he believes Everton have the personnel in place to play it effectively. Gary & Phil on the red side then talk about the red's recent run of games, including why they don't believe the result at Manchester City will have any bearing on next season's title challenge between the 2 clubs, as well as discussing how pleasing a number of individual performances from the younger members of the squad, particularly Curtis Jones have been. Social media on the red side brings the discussion to Dejan Lovren's Liverpool career after rumours that Zenit St Petersburg have shown interest, and how they feel any approach should be handled. We close out previewing Liverpool's trip to Arsenal, the importance or non importance of a record points total and Everton's games against Aston Villa and Sheffield United, two teams who desperately need points for different reasons & how they see the outcome. Thanks for listening, and enjoy the show!
Jurgen Klopp has been holding his regular pre-match press conference, via Zoom, ahead of Liverpool's visit to Arsenal tomorrow night. First up for Klopp was a question on his congratulatory video message to Wycombe Wanderers forward Adebayo Akinfenwa before moving onto Manchester City's FFP Champions League ban being overturned. The manager also revealed James Milner will miss the Arsenal lash prior to being asked about Mohamed Salah and the deal that took place to bring him to Anfield. The job Mikel Arteta has done at Arsenal was also discussed, so too was the future of Dejan Lovren, and much more besides. Enjoy. The Liverpool Echo sends a twice-daily Liverpool FC bulletin out via email with the all latest news, views and analysis from Anfield. The Premier League was finally back in action this week and Rebecca and Alex are delighted to be able to discuss it again. A slightly anticlimactic Merseyside Derby 0-0 means that Liverpool have to wait slightly longer to win the title but there's plenty to chat about from Goodison Park, including LFC's car park entrance, Mike Dean's lockdown beard, Naby Keita and Alisson Becker's performances, and Everton's solid defensive work. Chelsea too made slightly hard work of their first match back, ultimately getting the win against Aston Villa, despite Kortney Hause's first half goal. We chat about Chelsea's old issues rearing their ugly head once again, Pulisic's impact, Azpilicueta's resurgence, and keeping Kepa. Tottenham vs Man Utd brought out one of the all-time great Roy Keane rants and we discuss those David de Gea issues, plus Paul Pogba's impact, that Spurs cat trying to muscle in on Noah's territory, and grumpy Mourinho returning with a bang. We also delve into various other talking points from across the Premier League, including Sheffield Utd's unlucky return, Michael Oliver's watch issues, Saint-Maximin's silky skills, whether Crystal Palace could sneak into a European place - and yes, plenty of chat about Arsenal's terrible week, from Neil Maupay's last minute winner to a vintage David Luiz performance. And in 'Around The World', we take a quick look at Napoli beating Juventus in the Coppa Italia Final, a La Liga title race between a flat Barcelona team and a resurgent Real Madrid side, and Celta Vigo's greatest bending of a rule ever. Plus, bruised knees, air raid sirens, baby celebrations, Dejan Lovren anxieties, French plaits, woolly nonces, George of the Jungle, skinny piggies, fixing fax machines, '5 bottles of wine penis', and why Arsenal are like Mean Girls. **Please take the time to rate and review us on iTunes or wherever you get your podcasts, as it makes it easier for other potential listeners to find us. Liverpool may have to wait for their title after a scoreless draw to forget at Goodison Park. It was a game that deserved to be played in an empty stadium and Everton could have made Liverpool’s run in even more tense if they had taken their chances or capitalised on the arrival of Dejan Lovren. It was like Lovren had never been away which wasn’t a good thing for Liverpool. On Sunday’s Football Spin, Nooruddean Choudry looks at Lovren’s career and his apparent political leanings and wonders what it is that links them while Paddy McKenna explains what Carlo Ancelotti is doing to make Everton great again.
