Was man dort möchte?
Frank and Heather discuss a musical artist neither of them have ever heard of before.
This week we review an iconic, and, some might say seminal, spoof movie, the 2000s action comedy "Black Dynamite". Is it one of the best spoofs we've watched so far? Marty then presents a college dissertation on one of his favorite musical acts: Nobunny. Remember, Nobunny Loves You! Finally, Scott shows us all his favorite cookie jar and tests Marty and Kelly's knowledge of the television channel Comedy Central.
I can't believe another year has gone by, but it's time for the annual 5/10/15/20 edition of Random Old Records! EPISODE #68 features a collection of tracks from the years 1998, 2003, 2008, and 2013, along with some vintage news reports about the headlines of the day. Get into your time machine and jet back to the past!In 1998, The Jesus & Mary Chain came back after a few years out of the spotlight, the Jesus Lizard released their final albums, and bands like American Steel and Murder City Devils broke out huge. By 2003, post-hardcore dominated the zeitgeist, with the Blood Brothers, Cursive making their definitive LPs. In 2008, the garage rock underground exploded with classic releases by Nobunny and the Ettes, while punk rock ruled the day in 2013. Check out this episode for a dose of nuclear-powered nostalgia!Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE to Random Old Records via iTunes, Google Play, or RSS. So yeah, after over three years and 41 monthly episodes, I needed a little break from Random Old Records Podcast. When I started thinking about EPISODE #42 back in March, there was just too much shit going on, and the inspiration wasn't there, so I figured it was best to take a break (my first!) and stack up tracks for awhile. I never imagined that I would actually get e-mails from people asking when the next episode would be out. Well, it was only two, but still! You guys rule, and I can't thank you enough for listening to Random Old Records and patronizing this blog, even though I haven't posted a goddamn thing for months.Anyway, Random Old Records #42 is out, and I'm super proud of this one. This episode functions as a sort of "BEST OF 2012 SO FAR"-type playlist, featuring new tracks from Wax Idols, Natural Child, Gentleman Jesse, Nobunny, Heavy Cream, and Sugar Stems, a bunch of new releases on Trouble In Mind from The Resonars, The Paperhead, Hollows, and Estrogen Highs, Record Store Day Exclusives from Nobunny and The Black Angels, and so much MORE!
