David Paris is a seven time acrobatic dance champion and an America's Got Talent finalist. He is the author of A COVID Story which documents his 30 days in medical coma and 88 days in the hospital. In this episode, David shares his remarkable story of spiritual transformation that took place as he came face-to-face with death after contracting COVID in 2020. We discuss some of his deeply impactful dreams and experiences that he had while in a medically-induced coma, his remarkably difficult recovery journey, and how facing death has changed his life for the better. David has made a tremendous recovery since then, and although he still is facing some physical difficulties, he is wonderfully optimistic and is sharing his story to inspire others. David's story offers a unique insight into the human psyche and how our minds interpret and are affected by life-threatening circumstances. David recounts numerous dreams wherein he was faced with using all of his strength to fight for his life - to do whatever it took to survive. “I could not control having a deadly reaction to COVID-19. However, I could control what it meant to me. It was terrifying, but it was also an opportunity for rebirth and reassessment. I learned to appreciate the extraordinary work of my medical community. I learned to love my family and friends. And I learned to love myself for who I am and not who I think I need to be.” - David Paris Get a copy of David's book: A COVID Story: https://www.amazon.com/Covid-Story-David-Paris-ebook/dp/B08XPRWKN1/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1614672329&sr=1-1 A COVID STORY is an introspective memoir of an induced medical coma, a unique recovery process, and an amazing community that supported a patient's second chance at life. This book offers support for survivors, insights for their caregivers, hope for those currently infected and their families; as well as persuasive evidence for those untouched by COVID's deadly embrace. My guest is Lana Elco, a relationship and intimacy coach who focuses on the tantric, sacred unity approach and has worked with cross-cultural couples and women from all over the world in their relationships for more than 10 years. She is a proponent of feminine empowerment. Ukrainian-born Lana moved to California, where she met her soul partner and started her life from scratch.Lana has a Master's Degree in social and political sciences, business administration, studied transpersonal psychology and is certified with Grof Transpersonal Training. She has also trained in NVC (Non-Violent Communication), Zegg Psychodrama, Intimacy, and Tantra.Having a great childhood in Ukraine, Lana experienced her trauma in the United States. She worked on deep healing work on ancestral trauma at a spiritual retreat in the desert when she had a man attack her emotionally. “It took a while for me to process and understand what had happened to me,” says Lana of her experience. In her healing journey from this experience, she realized that her attacker hadn't completed his healing journey.“There's forgiving and letting go and then there's removing the trauma from your body,” Lana explains. However, she realized that even though she had forgiven and moved on, she still fears that this could happen again. When she started working with women on a deeper level, she realized that many women weren't experiencing their authentic feminine energy in expanded states of consciousness. “When feminism movement happened, I believed that was necessary for women to become powerful and claim their rights and freedoms.” Instead, however, many women became powerful in a masculine way, representing the feminine. “They were basically mimicking hte masculine to become powerful.” Likewise, says Lana, because women only had other men in the patriarch to look up to, for example. These days, we are moving through another wave of feminine empowerment. Lana explains, “We want to do things the way men do it, we can still do things on our own and be powerful in a feminine way.”Lana says we need to remember our feminine power. She reminds us that there are periods in different cultures that women and men were of equal power when we look at The Pyramid Code. “We can see it in there art - women and men holding hands on the thrown” she gives other examples as well. “We have to collaborate, so there's no competition for power.”Listen in to find out when females lost control of power, how patriarchal societies tried to erase feminine power, and the essence of the mother wound, and how this causes cyclical abuse.Resources MentionedJoin Me on Speak Loud PlatformSpeak Loud Podcast on the webLana Elko Tantric Relationship Coach on the webSpread the message of Speak Loudly Podcast andshare this episode with a friend!***Disclaimer: All content found on Speak Loud Podcast, including text, images, audio, or other formats were created for informational purposes only. According to NVC (Non-Violent Communication), Unsolicited Advice is a form of violence; it's a way to bully someone by telling them what you think they "should" or "shouldn't" do. It can be very invasive when unwelcomed, so let's be mindful of what to do when we receive it, how to stop giving it, and the gift inherent in waiting for someone to ask for help rather than freely giving it. An Englishman with the accent to prove it, Newt Bailey is a communications, mediation and team dynamics coach based in San Francisco. He is extremely well-versed in NVC (Non-Violent Communication) which he prefers to call CC (Connected Communication, or Compassionate Communication. I've been very fortunate to attend his workshops at his Communication Dojo where I was transformed by practicing NVC experientially with kindred seekers of communications nirvana. We talk about Newt's entire life story and his journey from an engineer of computer code to a reverse-engineer of other's thoughts and feelings in an attempt to achieve win-win outcomes. A brilliant quote from Henry Ford sums up Newt's ethos: "If there is any great secret of success in life, it lies in the ability to put yourself in the other person's place and to see things from his point of view—as well as your own." Join Newt and myself as we dig deeper than deep to find out what it means to be human and what it's like to see the other through the same lens we see ourselves: vulnerable, insecure beings who are yearn for acceptance, love, compassion and a strong desire to be seen and heard exactly as we are in the here and now.
