“You cannot truly listen to anyone and do anything else at the same time.” – M. Scott Peck, The Road Less Traveled: A New Psychology of Love, Traditional Values and Spiritual Growth Experience producing exceptional clinical outcomes, Kintinu Telerehab connects recovery to everyday life. In this podcast, we explore hot topics in rehabilitation, the keys to personal growth and recovery, and how to apply it all to the real-world. We are constantly trying to be more efficient and “multi-task.” What may come as a surprise is that we are quite ineffective at juggling more than one thing at a time. What does this have to do with relationship building? In conversation, we are easily distracted by our own thoughts or our environment effectively forcing us to choose between information sharing and active listening. Active listening is different than hearing, as one is intentional and hearing is more passive in nature. In this episode of Kintinu'd Conversations, Brad Dexter, Ana Hancock, and Tim Benak welcome back Jill Guenther to the podcast to continue the conversation about Relationship Building with a special emphasis on active listening. Jill has been with Kintinu's parent company, QLI, for a total of 25 years. Within that time, Jill has held several crucial roles that have shaped QLI's culture and clinical program and has spent much of her career studying and learning about what goes into the skill of “relationship building.” Currently, Jill serves as the Director of Skill Building and is one of the first people to welcome a new team member to the company. In a society where technology is front and center, virtual interactions are more prevalent but met with skepticism as they relate to personal connection. Recognized as a Midlands Business Journal 40 under 40 recipient, he combines his marketing experience and clinical background to guide all aspects of the Kintinu business. Outside the office, he's with his two boys on the ball field, the basketball court, or at the local fishing hole. He's even passed down his love (bad habit) of buying up the newest Nike sneakers. His competitive spirit shines through on the golf course, but he makes up for all the bad shots playing corn hole after the round.Learn more about our team here!
“Empathy fuels connection. Sympathy drives disconnection.” – Dr. Brené Brown Backed by decades of experience producing exceptional clinical outcomes, Kintinu Telerehab connects recovery to everyday life. In this podcast, we explore hot topics in rehabilitation, the keys to personal growth and recovery, and how to apply it all to the real-world. Characterized by active listening, acknowledgement of shared experiences and judgment free interaction, empathy leads to inclusivity. Sympathy, on the other hand, involves sadness or pity towards the circumstance(s) of others. Though not all bad, this leads to disconnection and feelings of exclusion. In this episode of Kintinu'd Conversations, Brad Dexter, Ana Hancock, and Tim Benak welcome back Jill Guenther to the podcast to continue the conversation about Relationship Building with a special emphasis on Empathy. Jill has been with Kintinu's parent company, QLI, for a total of 25 years. Listeners will hear Jill's perspective on the difference between sympathy and empathy. One tool, the Empathy Inventory, places emphasis on personal awareness and how this leads to a deeper understanding of one's own level of empathy.
