The Incomparable Christ Pt. 2: From Death to Life By Louie Marsh, 1-18-2026   Top 10 Preaching Rules   10: Any illustration can be massaged to fit any sermon. 9: If a story is funny enough, it doesn't have to fit the sermon. 8: A sermon that is "too short" is rarer than Bigfoot at a photographer's convention. 7: The kid who screams and throws a fit every week will wait until the quietest, most focused and serious moment of your sermon to let 'er rip. 6: The member who always gripes that you don't preach enough on (pick one) baptism/faith/giving/witnessing will be out of town the week you preach your best sermon ever on baptism/faith/giving/witnessing. 5: The two things people will remember from your sermons are: 1) mistakes and 2) funny or tear jerking stories. 4: People who request a sermon on a particular issue will miss church the day you preach it. 3: You are never as convicting as you think you are. 2: A mist in the pulpit is a fog in the pews. 1: Making God's Word boring or irrelevant is a sin.   TO BECOME SPIRITUALLY ALIVE…   1) I ACCEPT & ACT on my condition outside of Christ.   WE ARE SPIRITUALLY…   ·  SEPARATED from God.    "1And you were dead in the trespasses and sins" (Ephesians 2:1, ESV)   o ACTIVE SINS = transgressions - knowingly crossing a boundary o  PASSIVE = sins  - missing the mark   ·  ENSLAVED   "2in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— 3among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind… (Ephesians 2:2–3a, ESV)   o To the WORLD   Kosmos – organized system of things, culture – not planet   o To the DEVIL   o To our OLD NATURE   "9The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? 10"I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds."" (Jeremiah 17:9–10, ESV)   ·  CONDEMNED   …and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind." (Ephesians 2:2–3, ESV)   WHY IS THIS SO IMPORTANT?   But he who has been forgiven little loves little." Luke 7:47b (NIV)   If the forgiveness is minimal, the gratitude is minimal. Luke 7:47b (MSG)   By refusing to admit or believe this – and by conveniently leave it out of our Gospel presentations we are doing ourselves, those we talk too, and God Himself a disservice. 1) It degrades the non-Christian's real problem – they're not just dysfunctional – they are spiritually dead, hopelessly enslaved and condemned! 2) It degrades our understanding of things too, and produces in us and many of our converts a lack of depth in understanding of our wonderful Savior and salvation. 3) It degrades Christ! We turn Him from the all mighty wonderful Savior of the NT into someone who comes along to help us, give us some band aids, and boost our self image!   2) I BELIEVE & RECEIVE what we can become by Grace.   ·  Who? GOD   "4But God, being rich in mercy… (Ephesians 2:4a, ESV)   · What Did He Do? SAVED.   "4… because of the great love with which he loved us, 5even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus," (Ephesians 2:4–6, ESV)   o MADE ALIVE   o RAISED UP   o SAT DOWN   o All of this IN CHRIST!   In September of 1908, Giants player Fred Merkle committed what author Noel Hynd calls "baseball's most famous lapse." Dave Anderson says it has "endured for nearly a century as baseball's most controversial moment in baseball's most controversial pennant race."   It happened in the ninth inning of a Giants versus Cubs game.  The Giants came to bat with a chance to win. There were only three weeks left in the season and a win against the Cubs would put the Giants back in first place. There were two out, with runners on third and Fred Merkle on first.   Al Bridwell stepped up to the plate and hit a line drive into right center. The runner on third crossed the plate with the winning run but Merkle, instead of touching second, turned and ran quickly back to the clubhouse to avoid the oncoming crowd. The game was over or so he and everyone else thought.   A Cubs player noticed that Merkle had not touched second, took a ball to second base and called it to the umpire's attention. Later that night, the umpire ruled that Merkle was out and the next morning the National League allowed the ruling, saying the game had ended in a 1-1 tie.   In the press, Fred Merkle was blasted.  Merkle retired after the 1926 season and he retreated to the seclusion of Florida. Fred Merkle spent his remaining days in Daytona Beach. He became ill and passed away on March 2nd, 1956. Some years earlier, he had given an interview. In the back of a tackle shop, he told the reporter, "I suppose when I die, they'll put on my tombstone, 'Here Lies Bonehead Merkle.'"   The world can be an unforgiving place.  Make a mistake and you may never hear the end of it.  Make a big enough mistake, and it can ruin your life and label you forever as a goof, a screw-up, or even a bonehead.   · Why Do This? To make an eternal example of his GRACE!   "7so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus." (Ephesians 2:7, ESV)   · HOW Did He Do This?   "8For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9not a result of works, so that no one may boast." (Ephesians 2:8–9, ESV)   o By GRACE   A man dies and goes to heaven and of course, St. Peter meets him at the Pearly Gates.  St. Peter says, "Here's how it works.  You need 100 points to make it into heaven.  You tell me all the good things you've done, and I give you a certain number of points for each item, depending on how good it was.  When you reach 100 points, you get in.   "Okay," the man says, "I was married to the same woman for 50 years and never cheated on her, even in my heart."  "That's wonderful," says St. Peter, "that's worth three points!"     "Three points?"  He says.  "Well, I attended church all my life and fully supported its ministry with my tithe and service."  Terrific!"  Says St. Peter.  "That's certainly worth a point."     "One point!!!"  "I started a soup kitchen in my city and I worked in a shelter for homeless veterans."  "Fantastic, that's good for two more points," he says.     "Two points!!!"  Exasperated, the man cries.  "At this rate the only way I'll get into heaven is by the grace of God."     "Bingo Dude! 100 points!  Come on in!"   o  Thru FAITH   o A GIFT   o Results – all glory going to GOD!   3) I GRASP & GLORIFY Whose I am!   "10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." (Ephesians 2:10, ESV)   · We are GOD'S work.   · We are HIS MASTERPIECE   · BUT – only IN CHRIST!   · Made To FULFILL God's plan for me.   "11For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. 13You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. 14I will be found by you, declares the Lord…  (Jeremiah 29:11–14a, ESV)

The readings for this homily: https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/123025.cfmThe mystery of Christmas overturns every illusion of self-salvation. God does not wait for humanity to climb back to Him. He comes down.Father Anthony Gramlich, MIC, draws us into this central truth of the Incarnation: Fallen humanity cannot raise itself by its own efforts. Grace is not something we generate. Redemption begins with divine humility. The world repeatedly offers a different promise — especially in modern spiritual movements — that we can elevate ourselves through technique, effort, or enlightenment. But Scripture reveals the opposite. Because of sin, humanity cannot lift itself to God. Instead, God lowers Himself to lift us. As St. Paul writes, Christ “emptied himself, taking the form of a slave” (Phil 2:7; NABRE). Born in poverty and obscurity, rejected by the world, Jesus enters fully into our human condition — without sin — in order to heal it from within.Father Anthony traces this saving pattern through salvation history itself. Humanity fell through the wood of the tree in Eden, and humanity is raised through the wood of the Cross. God is born on wood, works with wood, and dies on wood so that what once led us away from Heaven becomes the instrument that brings us back. Christmas is already pointing toward Calvary, and Calvary toward resurrection. This mystery demands proclamation. The angels announced it. The shepherds ran to see it. Anna spoke of it to all who awaited redemption. Christmas is not meant to remain silent or sentimental. It is the celebration of a God who acts, a God who saves, and a God who does for us what we cannot do for ourselves. To speak about Christmas rightly is to speak about Jesus Christ — the One who came down so that we might be raised up by grace.“Though he was in the form of God… he humbled himself” (Phil 2:6a & 8a; NABRE). ★ Support this podcast ★

Mordecai uncovers a plot, and Haman's plan to destroy the Jews is revealed. Esther hesitates, but Mordecai challenges her with the famous words: “Who knows but that you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” God works through the everyday roles and positions He gives us. Esther is not a superhero, but someone God has placed in a particular setting for a purpose. So are we.Esther 4:6–17 (ESV)Hathach went out to Mordecai in the open square of the city in front of the king's gate, and Mordecai told him all that had happened to him, and the exact sum of money that Haman had promised to pay into the king's treasuries for the destruction of the Jews. Mordecai also gave him a copy of the written decree issued in Susa for their destruction, that he might show it to Esther and explain it to her and command her to go to the king to beg his favor and plead with him on behalf of her people. And Hathach went and told Esther what Mordecai had said. Then Esther spoke to Hathach and commanded him to go to Mordecai and say, “All the king's servants and the people of the king's provinces know that if any man or woman goes to the king inside the inner court without being called, there is but one law—to be put to death, except the one to whom the king holds out the golden scepter so that he may live. But as for me, I have not been called to come in to the king these thirty days.”And they told Mordecai what Esther had said. Then Mordecai told them to reply to Esther, “Do not think to yourself that in the king's palace you will escape any more than all the other Jews. For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” Then Esther told them to reply to Mordecai, “Go, gather all the Jews to be found in Susa, and hold a fast on my behalf, and do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my young women will also fast as you do. Then I will go to the king, though it is against the law, and if I perish, I perish.” Mordecai then went away and did everything as Esther had ordered him.John 15:12–17 (ESV)“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. These things I command you, so that you will love one another.

What is the last Day? Is there a last day upon the earth. Was Jesus speaking of a physical last day when He told them, recorded in John, He would raise them up IN THE LAST DAY. Here is another view of that. While there was a last day of the Old Covenant and the things that pertain to it, I believe Jesus Christ Himself is the last Day. When we come into Him, we come into a new day. This is not a natural day, and it doesn't require natural light to see, but we see in this day through the light of HIs Revelation.

Understanding Christian Identity and the Power of Prayer based on the book of Ephesians and related scriptures. Key Themes: Gratitude and Thanksgiving: The importance of expressing thanks to God in all circumstances, recognizing the source of all blessings. Freedom and Sacrifice: Acknowledging the sacrifices made for earthly freedom and the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus for spiritual freedom. Divine Health vs. Healing: A desire to live in continuous divine health rather than moving from one healing to the next. Standing on Truth and Fighting for Beliefs: The necessity of holding firm to God's word despite opposing thoughts, feelings, or circumstances. The Power of Giving Thanks (Eucharisto): Connecting the Greek word for thanksgiving to grace and joy, and highlighting Jesus' practice of giving thanks before miracles. God's Abundance and Compassion: Illustrated through the feeding of the multitude, emphasizing focusing on what is available rather than lack. Victory Over Death (Physical and Spiritual): Demonstrated through the resurrection of Lazarus and the understanding of Christ's power. The Significance of Communion: Remembering Jesus' sacrifice and giving thanks for the freedom and new covenant established through his body and blood. Raising the Next Generation: The importance of older believers supporting families and teaching children God's word. The Church at Ephesus as a Model: Examining a historically significant and initially strong church, noting its characteristics and eventual decline in "first love." Christian Identity in Christ: Focusing on the spiritual realities and blessings believers possess through their union with Jesus as described in Ephesians. The Power of Confession and Declaration: Using voice-activated faith to bring spiritual realities into physical manifestation. The Workmanship (Poema) of God: Seeing believers as God's perfect and complete creations in their spirit. Paul's Prayers in Ephesians: Highlighting specific prayers for enlightenment of understanding/imagination and comprehension of the love of God. The Power Working Within: Recognizing the resurrection power of Christ dwelling in believers. Most Important Ideas/Facts: Gratitude as a Core Principle: The speaker repeatedly emphasizes the centrality of thanksgiving in the Christian life. "Such a heart of gratitude today." This is presented as a key to accessing God's promises and experiencing his glory. "Eucharisto is the original Greek word used that means thanksgiving. In each instance, Christ offers thanksgiving before a miracle is performed." Gratitude is linked to glory and receiving things from God. Identity in Christ is Found in Scripture, Particularly Ephesians: The main focus of the latter part of the briefing is on understanding who believers are in Christ, drawing heavily from Ephesians. This identity is presented as a spiritual reality that needs to be accessed and lived out. Ephesians is described as the "most powerful book in the New Testament" for new Christians because it reveals "how God sees you. You see your identity. You see your authority. You see your position in heaven." The speaker highlights several aspects of this identity: Blessed with all spiritual blessings (Ephesians 1:3): "He has blessed us. It's done. It's past tense... Everything that Jesus died for is your spiritual inheritance. It's all there. It's in your spirit. We want to access it." This includes prosperity, peace, joy, deliverance, and healing. Chosen, Holy, and Blameless (Ephesians 1:4): "You're chosen. You're holy. You're blameless before the foundation of the world." This is God's perspective on believers, regardless of their current state. Adopted into God's Family (Ephesians 1:5): "This is aba daddy. He adopted you into his family... you had the same rights as every other child." Accepted in the Beloved (Ephesians 1:6): Using the Greek word "Charito," meaning highly favored or blessed by God, highlighting the same status as Mary. "You are God's beloved... God loves you not based on what you good thing you did or what bad thing you did. His love love is absolute and constant." Redeemed and Forgiven (Ephesians 1:7): Emphasizing that redemption and forgiveness are received through the blood of Jesus, not obedience, and are according to the "riches of his grace." Forgiveness is presented as continuous and covering all sins (past, present, future, omission). Obtained an Inheritance (Ephesians 1:11): "Your inheritance is everything Jesus did for you. The gifting, the anointing he put in you, his favor in your life, his desire to give you divine health." Sealed with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13): The moment of salvation, where the Holy Spirit "vacuum-acked and sealed your spirit. Everything you ever need is already there." Raised Up and Seated in Heavenly Places with Christ (Ephesians 2:6): This position signifies being "seated above all powers, principalities, and spirits of darkness," leading to an identity that is "invincible," "more than a conqueror," and an "overcomer," not a victim. God's Workmanship (Poema) (Ephesians 2:10): Believers are the "masterpiece of God's creation," seen by God as "perfect, complete, lacking nothing" in their spirit. Possessing the Fullness of Christ (Colossians 2, referenced): The reality that "the fullness of Christ is already in you," meaning "Onethird of you is Jesus. Jesus and the Holy Ghost living within you." Accessing Spiritual Realities through Faith and Confession: The gap between the spiritual realities of identity in Christ and the believer's experience is bridged through renewing the mind with God's word and speaking declarations based on faith. "Now, the rest of our life is trying to activate everything God deposited inside of you. Getting your mind into agreement with your spirit. How do you do that? Well, you renew it by God's word." "Getting your body under submission. These are things that God wants us to do." "Faith is voice activated." Confessing "I am blessed" or reciting identity statements brings them to life. Philemon 1:6 is highlighted: "that the communication the expression the way you speak about your faith may become affected that word is powerful dynamic transformative by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus". The Power of the Resurrection Working Within Believers: The same power that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in believers, enabling them to do "exceedingly abundantly above all that we think or ask (and imagine)." This power is connected to operating in Christian identity and fulfilling God's purpose. Overcoming Negativity and Focusing on Truth: The speaker shares personal anecdotes about battling negative diagnoses and thoughts, emphasizing the importance of not repeating them and instead focusing on God's word and promises. "You go to the doctors... they start throwing out all these diagnosis, and you just don't want to let them stick. See what I'm saying? You don't repeat them. You don't own them. You acknowledge something, but you don't let it stick." Martha's focus on the "lack" (Lazarus stinking) when standing before Jesus is used as an example of negative focus to avoid. The media and the world are described as "very dark stuff" and "very evil," contrasting with the truth of God's word. The Purpose of the Body of Christ and Ministry: The church community is essential for support, teaching the next generation, and helping believers overcome difficulties through prayer and prophetic gifts. The example of older women giving moms a break to teach children is mentioned. When individuals are struggling, "you need help from another Christian to pray you through." This is a purpose of the body of Christ "to lift you out of that problem and bring you into freedom." Prophetic gifts are seen as having the purpose "to set you free and to set you back on track for what God's doing." The Nature of God's Love: God's love is described as absolute, constant, and not dependent on human performance. It is a love that "lavishes" itself on believers, seeing them as beloved as much as Jesus. This love is both theological and experiential. Paul's prayer in Ephesians 3 is to comprehend "the width and length and depth and height of the love of God." Experiencing God's love through salvation, healing, deliverance, etc., leads to thankfulness. Conclusion: The message strongly emphasizes that Christian identity is not based on performance but on what God has already accomplished and deposited in believers through Jesus Christ. This identity, described in detail using passages from Ephesians, includes being blessed, chosen, holy, blameless, adopted, accepted, redeemed, forgiven, possessing an inheritance, sealed by the Holy Spirit, seated with Christ, and being God's masterpiece. Accessing and experiencing these spiritual realities is achieved through renewing the mind with God's word, speaking declarations of faith, and cultivating a heart of gratitude and thanksgiving. The power of God, specifically the resurrection power, resides within believers, enabling them to overcome challenges and fulfill God's purposes. The church community plays a vital role in supporting believers in this journey.
