There was a time when career was a defining life feature. When people would dream of what they might become. But now, almost half of workers say a job is just about money, and employee satisfaction is at an all time low. So, is the whole idea of a dream job dead and buried? Newstalk's Sarah Madden reports:

Of all the chapters in the NT, Romans 6-8a, are amongst the most misunderstood. Yet, when properly understood, these same three chapters become some of the most liberating in all the Word of God! For so many professing Christians, Romans chapter 7 offers a supporting crutch for them to continue living in sin — after all, didn't Paul struggle in the battle against sin, failing miserably every time? “For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do” (Rom. 7:19). If that was the personal testimony of the mighty Apostle Paul, what chance this side of eternity have I got?! In this second sermon part, we seek to shed valuable light on this misunderstood chapter and to bring forth the liberation of Romans chapter 8!
The doctrine of justification by faith (the imputed righteousness of Christ) is the cardinal pillar upon which Christianity stands. Take this pillar away, and the whole faith comes crashing down in ruin. Positionally, we stand righteousness before a holy God, not on the basis of our works (plural), but because of HIS work (singular), and our faith in that finished work, and in His son the Lord Jesus Christ whom He raised form the dead! Now for many Christians, this is where it begins and ends. Ask the average Christian what the difference is between them and those who know not the Lord and you will be told; “The only difference between us and them, is we're forgiven and they are not!” In this first part of a two-part sermon series, we shall examine this statement and seek to understand the life-changing truths contained in Romans 6.
Welcome to Out of the Shadows, a series that dives into the world of (mostly) 80s horror movies. Join Chris Chavez and Jim Clark as they explore the best and worst of what made the 80s the golden age of horror. This week, Chris and Jim watch Dead & Buried, a horror film that follows the unsettling events in a seemingly idyllic coastal town, putting a new spin on the reanimated corpse genre.
Every believer should be able to articulate the gospel. If, I was to ask you to define the Gospel, what would you say? Technically, the gospel at its very essence is the story of God and His redemptive relationship with mankind. Because God is holy, He cannot tolerate our sin. Sin is anything that offends God's holy character. God gave us the law to show us our sin. Because every person has sinned and has come short of God's glory no one can have an intimate relationship with God. Because God is just, He cannot overlook our sin. As the just Judge of all the earth, He must judge every sin, and the wages of sin are death. Nothing unclean can enter Heaven, and thus all sinners will be given their place in the eternal lake of fire. God must pronounce the just verdict and penalty. Love doesn't undo the necessity for justice. But God is loving and has reached out to us. He has provided a way for us to be close to Him that satisfies His holy and just nature. That perfect way is Jesus. Jesus is God. He came to earth as a human. He lived a perfect life and earned a right standing with God. He came to give Himself in exchange for us because we could not earn our own right standing with God.
Scripture Reference: Luke 23:1-4, 32-49 No other event in Jesus' life gets more attention than the rather ignominious death on the Cross, what anyone would have thought the lowest moment of his life. But the reasons why they seized up on it are at the heart of what is most unique about the Apostles Creed's witness to the watching world. Sermon Points: The Reality of his Death The Significance of his Death The Application of his Death
When it comes to topics like God and humanity and morality and the afterlife and more, what is it that we believe? And why is it that we believe what we do? What are our beliefs based on? Join us at Faith Covenant Church as we explore what the Bible teaches us about the most important topics in life, as those topics are highlighted for us in the Apostle's Creed.

Obviously anybody listening to this podcast is a huge fan of horror movies. There is no better time to be a movie fan because of all the incredible releases that keep coming out, not just here in the states, but around the world. From movies that we grew up loving, to the more obscure and unseen titles, it is a never-ending journey to discover or re-discover these titles. And one of the men responsible for helping us fans is Jesse Nelson from Diabolik DVD, as well as Exhumed Films, and more recently Cauldron Films. So sit down and listen to some great stories, and maybe even learn some etiquettewhen it comes to collecting, customer service, and what fans should expect from shops like Diabolik DVD, and the other boutique labels, and realize the hard work they are all doing to bring us fans some great viewing experiences. This week at Cast Me To Hell, Robbie is looking at film that was originally a Video Nasty but was taken off the list, as he discusses 1981's Dead & Buried (also often called Dead and Buried). This coastal based horror feels like a throwback to English folk horror of the lates 60s and 70s, meets a brutal 80s slasher. Based on a story by the creators of Alien and featuring a pre-Nightmare on Elm Street Robert England, this film will take your breath away....all of it. What exactly do Christians believe? There are so many different denominations and non-denominational churches around the world. Churches split because they disagree about all kinds of things. Is there any place that we can go to find out the essentials of the Christian faith? Any place we can go to discover what all Christians believe? Yes. The Apostles Creed is one of those places. The word “creed” comes from the Latin “credo” which means “I believe;” this is one of the earliest unified statements of faith in the Christian world, likely dating back to the 2nd century. Along with the Nicene Creed, The Apostles' Creed is undoubtedly the most used, most familiar and most authoritative creed of Christianity. It has defined what it means to be a Christian for centuries and across languages and cultures. This is the single most fundamental expression of the Christian faith. Every week, we will be looking at the phrases in this creed and exploring what it means to say “I believe…” as a Christian, and how this actually changes our lives. Listen as guest preacher Steve Beard, from Mountain View Presbyterian Church, walks us through the significance of the next phrase in the creed: "Suffered under Pontius Pilate, crucified, dead, buried," and how this experience of Jesus shapes us even today. The season of Lent is a period of 40 days (not counting Sundays) in which we resolve, again, to participate in Jesus' passion. In doing so, we journey on a divine path that chooses suffering over violence, sacrifice over safety, and generous love over self-love. As we walk this path we bear witness to many unexpected surprises. Chief among them all is this ancient Christian truth: difficulty and sorrow are not ways unto death, but rather, they are ways through death and into new life.In the early church, the Apostles' Creed was used as a catechism for those who were baptized. Thus, its language was central to Christian imagination. Throughout Lent, our Animating Images sermon series intends to recapture ancient Christian imagination by engaging the Apostles' Creed. However, rather than using the creed to explicate faith, this series will invite us to ponder creedal statements as icons that animate our lives by Divine Love.

After the success of ALIEN, you'd think that Dan O'Bannon's screenwriting career would have really taken off, but due to a very public battle over the screen credits on that film, that unfortunately wasn't the case. The good news is that O'Bannon's ALIEN co-writer Ronald Shusett had a project that he'd been working on prior to ALIEN about a small New England town that was overtaken by the undead, and he invited O'Bannon to help him out with the screenplay. The resulting film was DEAD & BURIED, directed by Gary Sherman, although O'Bannon's contributions to the script are disputed (mostly by O'Bannon himself). In this episode, we'll discuss the extent of O'Bannon's involvement, plus the filming of the cult film itself, which featured early credits from genre stalwarts such as Robert England and Stan Winston.
