Don't let past regrets or harsh words hold you back from podcasting. This episode highlights inspiring stories from podcasters like Zita Christian, who turned her struggles with Alzheimer's into a powerful platform, and Ray Arnott, whose model train podcast has garnered a passionate community. Dave Jackson emphasizes that everyone has a unique voice and experience to share, and it's essential to push through the self-doubt that might stem from past failures. He also discusses the phenomenon of pod fading, where many new podcasters stop before truly finding their audience. Tune in to discover how you can overcome obstacles and embrace your podcasting journey, all while ensuring your voice is heard loud and clear.Transitioning to the theme of persistence in podcasting, Dave discusses the phenomenon of 'pod fading,' where many new podcasters abandon their shows within months. He references a study revealing that around 30% of podcasters stop producing content shortly after launching. Jackson draws parallels between podcasting and gym memberships, highlighting how both require commitment and a clear understanding of one's goals to achieve lasting success. He encourages listeners to embrace their unique voices, reminding them that past failures or negative feedback should not deter them from sharing their stories. Instead, he advocates for a mindset shift—viewing each podcasting endeavor as an opportunity to learn and grow, regardless of the initial outcome. The episode crescendos with reflections on the recent insights he gained from watching the musical 'Wicked,' particularly the unexpected vocal talents of Ariana Grande. This experience serves as a metaphor for the hidden potential within each person. Jackson urges aspiring podcasters to let go of self-doubt and 'head trash,' asserting that everyone has a unique contribution to make. By embracing their individuality and the lessons learned from past experiences, podcasters can inspire others and carve out their place in the audio landscape. As the episode wraps up, Dave reiterates his commitment to supporting podcasters through his school, providing resources and guidance to help them realize their potential and achieve their podcasting dreams.Takeaways:Zita Christian's podcast gained recognition when she was featured in U.S. News & World Report, showcasing the impact a podcast can have.Ray Arnott's podcast inspired a listener to send in a special gift. Many new podcasters quit because they lack clarity on their audience and goals, leading to frustration.Consistency in content and focus is crucial for successful podcasting; it's not just about publishing.Ariana Grande's unexpected vocal talent illustrates that preconceived notions can limit potential; podcasting is similar.Pod fading affects 30% of new podcasters; understanding your audience is key to longevity.YouTube's redefining the word podcast may confuse advertisers and affect the money flowing into podcasting.Links referenced in this episode:schoolofpodcasting.comschoolofpodcasting.com/959aroundthelayout.comZita's Article in US News and World ReportMy Spouse Has Dementia

Scratch and Bite Outcast.10. SSSSssshhh PodCastOvers. Quiet… Oh so quiet.. The Scratch and Bite OutCast Podcast blinks at you through red rimmed eyes. Thanks to Boris F'off and the Killer Corgi's for the enlightening “Santa rides a Vespa” An enticing piece off Laura Gillespie’s “Self Titled” CD mind sneaks into our psyche …. Certainly a more laid back Laura when compared to her “Digital Soul” outings.Speaking of “Digital Soul” As promised Ray Arnott another stalwart of the Australian music scene appears again. Ray has credits on so many tracks you would think he was the only Rock drummer in Australia; Some of the bands that Ray has appeared in include: South Town Mods 1964 The Chelsea Set 1966-1967 The Browns 1969-1971 Cam-pact 1970 Company Caine 1970 Genesis 1970 Spectrum 1970 Mighty Kong 1973 The Dingoes 1974-1976 One Night Stand 1977? Scratch and Bite Outcast.9.The Walkabout Yoweeee PodCastOffs. Welcome to OutCast the Podcast on walkabout in outback Australia. The Stiffies opened our journey tonight as a warning to all those who trek the wilds of the planet … you to could end up in “Swampland” After that “Crash and Burn” we discover the North Coasts “Hammerfish” was home to both “The Stiffies” Ryan and Greg from “The Outcome”.and foreshadows Greg’s path through various noise machines until “The Crimson Project“, remodelled as “ The Violation of Silence” and now in its final form “The Outcome” definitely will “Keep Running”. The Outcome, a powerful machine indeed. If you cruised round this great land of ocean and desert, You would have no doubt met “Gypsy Dave” sitting at his campfire near some lonely Billabong reminiscing about the “Bye and Bye”. Unfortunately “Gypsy Dave” passed away late this year, living the Rock and Roll lifestyle to the end and teaching a new generation of noisemakers his art. Gypsy Dave (Ian Thomas) was an interesting character, a survivor of the Seminal sixties garage bands “The Missing Links” precursors to the Punk outbreak 10 years later, “The Showmen”, “Thomas Hood” and several other reincarnations through a chequered career in the Australian music scene. The Missing Link exposé of “Nervous Breakdown” featured a scathing Ian Thomas shattering every Elvis fans heart. In true links fashion the “Missing Links” always let you know “You’re Driving Me Insane”. A listen to some of Australia’s bands of sixties would loosen anyone’s brain cells. Found on several tracks of the “Gypsy Dave” CD is Ray Arnott another stalwart of the Australian music scene. Ray has credits on so many tracks you would think he was the only drummer in Australia; I will delve into Ray in the future. Ray also was a leg in the trio “Digital Soul” with the incandescent “I’m on Fire” featuring “Laura Gillespie” who we will catch up with on another episode. Down in the South of the country Melbourne’s young bloods “NeonPres” are starting their own climb into the Australian musical hierarchy, with a slight departure from their frantic funk the pulsing “Down”. Peeled off caves walls around my slice of heaven and hung for your pleasure are images by the incredulous Danielle Burford. http://www.danielleburford.com.au Remember I want you to contribute to my noise ravaged world, so send your noise, images, and words to me and the planet can see you for who you are. Send stuff here scratchandbite@podomatic.com muzz@scratchandbite.com Or visit www.myspace.com/outcastpodcast If that is too scary, email me and I will sedate you so it will all seem like a dream. If you are brave enough for another episode so am I, of course it will consist of Noise, more noise and images related to NOISE! Disappearing into the dust this episode closes with the raw energy of “Sunday Faynes with Loco Parentus” the fresh blood that will keep Australian music driving the planet. Sunday says “Get Stuffed”. Don’t forget! I want to get Stuffed….I want to get Stuff! Send stuff, if you don’t have noise or images, send money.
