In today's interview, authors Jim Amash and Eric Nolen-Weathington discuss their new book, Jim Aparo: Brave & Bold Artist, exploring why they wanted to shine a spotlight on the legendary but perhaps underappreciated artist whose distinctive style—characterized by crisp inking, dramatic shadows, and expressive faces—defined Batman and other DC characters for generations of readers. The collaborators share insights from interviews and research into Aparo's life and career, highlighting his iconic run on The Brave and the Bold alongside essential work on Aquaman, Phantom Stranger, and The Spectre, while revealing lesser-known facts and surprises they uncovered about his creative process and collaborations. They discuss what readers can expect from the book, including rare original art and archival material, how Aparo adapted his approach to different characters, and what set him apart from his contemporaries. The book just came out this week (2/18/26 to be specific), and you can buy it on publisher TwoMorrows's site or wherever you get your books! Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. With 26 caps for Ireland and a Heineken Cup winner's medal with Ulster in 1999, Justin shares the hard-won lessons from his playing career and how they translate into building resilient teams in business. From handling the brutal highs and lows of professional sport to navigating his forced retirement through injury in 2010, Justin offers candid insights on what it really takes to bounce back — including his favourite Churchill quote: "If it's not fatal, it's not final." The conversation explores the power of pre-mortems over post-mortems, why feedback is simply "a vehicle to improve," and how psychological safety isn't about being soft — it's about creating environments where people can challenge each other and grow together. Justin also reflects on his transition from player to coach to CEO, building a professional rugby franchise in Houston from scratch, and why doing things that "make your heart sing" has been the thread running through every chapter of his career. Whether you lead a sports team or a business team, this episode is packed with practical wisdom on resilience, identity, and what it means to keep contributing when things go wrong.   Connect with Justin: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/justin-m-fitzpatrick-ba116316/ Website:  https://aedelhard.com/     ##########   If you are looking for a Blueprint to help you and your business manage uncertainty, deal with failure and navigate change then reach out to Julian at: julian@julianrobertsconsulting.com   You can buy my book "Weathering the Storm: A Guide to Building Resilient Teams" on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DFTYN2Y2   ##########

The Bowhunter Chronicles Podcast - Episode 388: Digital Deer Camp - Walter Lee - Welcome to the Fire In this episode of The Bowhunter Chronicles, Adam Miller and Walt Lee IV sit down to reflect on the past hunting season and explore what it truly means to be an intentional hunter. From battling cold weather in the whitetail woods to simplifying gear and expectations, the conversation digs into practical lessons learned through real time in the field. Adam and Walt discuss cold weather bowhunting strategies, mindset over gear, and how preparation, experience, and presence matter more than the latest equipment. They also examine how social media and modern marketing have shaped the hunting industry, often creating unrealistic expectations that clash with the realities of public land and everyday hunters. The episode goes deeper into the balance between control and luck in hunting, the importance of setting realistic goals, and why many hunters choose to pass deer others would gladly shoot. Beyond tags filled, the conversation highlights the adventure of hunting and fishing, personal growth through time outdoors, and the value of building a supportive hunting community. The discussion wraps with a look at Digital Deer Camp and its mission to create a positive, respectful space where hunters can learn, connect, and grow together—keeping the focus on enjoying the outdoors and making the most of local hunting opportunities. It can be a tender thing to launch a creative project into the world. That's true whether you're an actor, a baker, a musician, a quilter, or almost any other artisan. As a writer, releasing a book often feels like that scene in early Gray's Anatomy where Meredith stands before Derek and says, “Pick me, choose me, love me.”In short, it's a little bit vulnerable. When I launched my first book back in 2019, Daryl took me to see Sweeney Todd at our local theater, to distract me from all of the big feelings. (A murdering, singing barber will do that!) These days, I've learned to notice and honor the feelings as they come and pass. There are a lot of them, in the week leading up to a book launch. And these feelings aren't just about whether people will like the book. That's part of it, for sure—no author wants to be panned or ignored. But they go beyond just wanting the book to hit well. They run the full gamut from excitement to terror. To paraphrase my writer-friend Ruth, the only thing scarier than no one is reading your book is people actually, you know, reading your book. But here's the thing: being part of the literary world is one of the great joys of my life. And that joy is a wonderful balm for all of the BIG FEELINGS™ that show up on launch week.I love my writing communities. That's you, beloved SubStack friends. It's the writers who read early drafts of my work (thank you, Steve! thank you, Aarik!) and gave me honest feedback. It's the writers whose books I love who have helped me grow in the craft. It's fellow writers in the trenches being honest about what it takes to turn a beautiful phrase and keep pursuing what is beautiful and true in a world filled with AI slop and lazy shortcuts. It's writers who are also bookstore owners (I love you, Nooks!) who foster community spaces where people can be together, heartened, seen, and read. Each time I publish a book and begin to feel all the feelings (hooray! oh no! how are my numbers doing? what have I forgotten?), I remember that you and each fellow reader and writer out there are the biggest gifts of all.I'd be honored if you'd give Weathering Change a look. Preorders matter, and this is the last week you can sneak one of those in, at Amazon or Nooks or anywhere you love buying your books. (You can also request it at your local library, which is free to you!)But above all, please know that I am so grateful that you're with me on this journey of words, seeking to make meaning out of life.Today's podcast is short and sweet—just 25 minutes. In it I read chapter one from Weathering Change. Many thanks to my publisher, InterVarsity Press, for giving me permission to share it with you today. If you'd prefer to read it rather than listen to it, you can find it here.Thank you for your love and support. I am so excited to share this book with you! Hosted by Will Alimonos and Zach Bishop, this wide-ranging episode breaks down New England's improbable run to the Super Bowl and sets the stage for a Patriots–Seahawks title game. The show opens with a deep dive into the AFC Championship in Denver, where the Patriots survived a blizzard, field-position battles, and conservative play to advance. Will and Zach analyze Drake Maye's toughness and mobility, Mike Vrabel's coaching decisions, the late Christian Gonzalez interception, and how special teams and weather shaped a low-scoring defensive slugfest. They debate whether the offense has truly earned this moment, how much the defense carried the team, and the Stidham vs. Bo Nix quarterback storyline. The hosts then pivot to the NFC side, recapping the Rams–Seahawks shootout. They discuss Sam Darnold's resurgence in Seattle, big performances from Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, a controversial unsportsmanlike penalty that flipped momentum, and why this matchup produced the Super Bowl opponent New England will face. Looking ahead to the Super Bowl, Will and Zach preview the key X-factors: Drake Maye's legs, Darnold's ball security, New England's defense versus Seattle's pass-catching weapons, and the chess match of special teams and field position. They share an early betting lean (Patriots moneyline) and tease a full prop-bet episode coming next week. The episode also hits major NFL news, including reactions to the Steelers hiring Mike McCarthy, broader coaching and organizational decisions, and how midseason roster moves — like Rashid Shaheed — paid off in key moments. Learn how he used bold decisions and non-conformist leadership to "shine like the sun," creating a vibrant culture for over 10,000 employees.Key TakeawaysRichard explains how thinking differently in business involves using empathy and active listening to de-escalate conflict and build self-reliance. He emphasizes that playing bigger means taking "scary" risks to move out of your comfort zone and achieve true personal freedom. Finally, he discusses why modern leaders must prioritize making others happy to ensure a "happy circle" that fuels long-term success.Episode HighlightsRichard describes his journey of challenging the status quo by replacing gray cubicles with a neon-lit sanctuary of vintage pinball machines and jukeboxes. He opens up about the resilience required when nearly losing his business and how bold decisions guided his leadership through the chaos of COVID-19.Timestamps00:00 - Introduction to The Corporate Life 01:10 - Moving to Costa Rica and the "Shine Like The Sun" anthem 03:30 - Breaking business rules with arcade machines and jukeboxes 09:40 - Training 10,000 voices and claiming your own 12:30 - Thinking differently in business to overcome family pressure 18:20 - Weathering the storm after losing a major client 22:52 - This or That: Rapid fire game 33:00 - Final message on non-conformist leadership and making people happyConnect with GuestLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/costaricascallcenter/Website: costaricascallcenter.com Connect with HinaWEBSITE I https://thehinasiddiqui.com/ LINKEDIN I / hinasiddiqui INSTAGRAM I @hinawithwings YOUTUBE I / @thehinasiddiqui Email I hina@thehinasiddiqui.comCheck out Hina's books: https://amzn.to/3B65Wz7Production Credit: Edited and produced by @the32collective_ / https://www.the32collective.co/

Robert M. Schoch is a geologist and scholar best known for his groundbreaking research on the Great Sphinx of Egypt, where he argues—based on geological weathering patterns—that the monument may be far older than traditionally believed. Applying rigorous scientific methods to ancient history, Schoch's work extends beyond the Sphinx to include studies of lost civilizations, solar-induced climate change, and the intersection of geology, archaeology, and human consciousness. His research has sparked international debate, encouraging a re-examination of humanity's deep past and the possibility that advanced knowledge existed long before recorded history.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-x-zone-radio-tv-show--1078348/support.Please note that all XZBN radio and/or television shows are Copyright © REL-MAR McConnell Meda Company, Niagara, Ontario, Canada – www.rel-mar.com. In this episode, Julian welcomes Anne Unsworth, founding director of Clear Path Success and certified trainer of NLP and hypnosis. Anne shares her fascinating journey into the world of NLP, which began during a challenging period in her life following the collapse of a family business. What started as a personal development need evolved into a passion, leading her through practitioner, master practitioner, and trainer certifications - including completing her initial training just days before the first COVID lockdown. Anne brings a unique perspective, combining her extensive FMCG corporate background with deep expertise in how we communicate, think, and create our version of reality. The conversation explores why communication remains one of the biggest challenges in organisations, despite being something we do constantly. Anne explains the NLP communication model, revealing that only 7% of our communication comes from the words we use, with the rest driven by body language and tone. She shares practical tools like the hierarchy of ideas, which helps people shift between detailed and strategic thinking, and discusses how understanding someone's "model of the world" can transform workplace relationships. Whether you're a leader wanting to connect more effectively with your team or simply curious about why emails so often get misread, this episode offers valuable insights into the art and science of communication.   Connect with Anne: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/anne-unsworth-3474992/ Website:  https://clearpathsuccess.com/     ##########   If you are looking for a Blueprint to help you and your business manage uncertainty, deal with failure and navigate change then reach out to Julian at: julian@julianrobertsconsulting.com   You can buy my book "Weathering the Storm: A Guide to Building Resilient Teams" on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DFTYN2Y2   ##########

In this episode of the Innovation Storyteller Show, I sit down with Amy Freeze, a meteorologist, innovator, and public safety advocate who has spent decades helping people understand risk when it truly matters. Everywhere I go lately, conversations circle back to AI, but this one brings it out of the abstract and straight into our homes, our screens, and moments where trust can make all the difference. Amy shares her remarkable journey from broadcast journalism to becoming one of the most recognized voices in weather. We talk about her work forecasting major events like Superstorm Sandy and the Joplin tornado, and how those experiences shaped her sense of responsibility to the public. As the first female chief meteorologist in Chicago and a six time Emmy Award winner, her career has been built on credibility and calm communication. What fascinated me most was why she chose to create a digital avatar, and how she sees AI as a way to deliver urgent, accurate information at scale without losing the human connection people rely on in moments of uncertainty. We also dig into the fears and ethical questions surrounding digital twins, AI driven storytelling, and protecting name, image, and likeness. Amy offers a grounded perspective on why avoiding new technology can sometimes create more risk than adopting it thoughtfully. Together, we explore how empathy, trust, and clear storytelling help audiences move past fear toward understanding, especially when the stakes involve safety, language barriers, and real time decision making. This conversation reminded me that innovation does not have to feel cold or distant. It can be practical, human, and deeply rooted in care. We talk about how trusted voices evolve with technology, how stories help people accept change, and why the future of AI may depend far less on hype and far more on responsibility, context, and trust.

In this episode, Julian sits down with Professor Antonina Pereira, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Science, Social Sciences and Humanities at the University of Chichester, to explore the evolving landscape of leadership in higher education. Antonina shares her powerful "constant gardener" metaphor for leadership—the daily work of pruning, planting, and tending that never stops. She discusses the mounting complexities facing universities today, from frozen tuition fees that haven't kept pace with costs to the shift in student expectations since fees were introduced in 2012. Despite financial pressures that have seen fees remain largely static while operational costs have soared, Antonina emphasises that her non-negotiable remains putting people at the center of every decision, whether that's supporting staff development or ensuring students receive a transformative education rather than simply a transactional degree. Throughout the conversation, Antonina reveals what makes the University of Chichester special—its unapologetically small size that allows leaders to know students by name at graduation, and its commitment to helping every student thrive regardless of their entry grades. She discusses the importance of developing leadership capabilities in higher education, as many academics step into management roles without formal training. Looking ahead with hope despite sector challenges, Antonina shares her vision for 2027 and beyond, grounded in understanding what makes Chichester unique: a cathedral group university that develops programmes in collaboration with industry, provides exceptional levels of support, and ensures students exit with far more than a degree—they leave with a well-rounded education prepared for the challenges of the world. Her passion for enabling people to achieve their goals, whether students or staff, shines through as the driving force behind her leadership approach.   Connect with Antonina: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/professor-antonina-pereira-94468b95/ Website:  https://www.chi.ac.uk/     ##########   If you are looking for a Blueprint to help you and your business manage uncertainty, deal with failure and navigate change then reach out to Julian at: julian@julianrobertsconsulting.com   You can buy my book "Weathering the Storm: A Guide to Building Resilient Teams" on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DFTYN2Y2   ##########

It's massive, it's mysterious, it's eroding faster than our faith in humanity, and it sits at the crossroads of legit science, wild speculation, and whatever the hell Edgar Cayce was doing. We're going to walk through what the Sphinx actually is, what we think we know about its history, how old it might be, why people keep insisting there's a secret Atlantean library under its paws, what modern tech like ground-penetrating radar and fancy satellite scans are actually showing under the Giza plateau, and why so many folks see Dr. Zahi Hawass as the final boss of “Nothing To See Here, Move Along.”Strap on the sunscreen, adjust your tinfoil nemes, and get ready for Hysteria 51.Special thanks to this week's research sources:Main References Mentioned in the EpisodeLehner, Mark. The Complete Pyramids: Solving the Ancient Mysteries.London: Thames & Hudson, 1997.Hawass, Zahi. The Secrets of the Sphinx: Restoration Past and Present.Cairo: American University in Cairo Press, 1998.Jordan, Paul.Riddles of the Sphinx.New York: New York University Press, 1998.Gauri, K. The conversation also covers tighter credit lines, longer auto loan terms, delinquency trends across products and the impact of the recent government shutdown. Life is full of squalls—sudden unannounced and unexpected storms that can lead us to question if God is in control of our lives. Death, sickness, unemployment, broken relationships, fears and failures are some of the troubles Satan uses to swamp us with doubt, usually when we're already stressed and exhausted. How do you respond when you're hit with the squalls of life? Are you like the disciples in Mark 4 who wondered why Jesus slept while their boat was sinking, or do you believe God is in as much control when He's seemingly asleep as when He's obviously awake? Do you pray, “Don't let there be another squall”? Or do you see storms as part of God's plan for your life?Teaching from the Gospel of Mark, Jill Briscoe addresses the issues of suffering and faith, challenging us to examine our beliefs in God in the midst of trouble. In this engaging conversation, global PR expert and executive coach Marjie Hadad reveals why every leader needs to adopt a "PR mindset" – and it's not what you think. Moving beyond the stereotypes of spin and press releases, Marjie reframes PR as strategic communication that helps us achieve our goals and solve problems in every area of life. Through vivid real-world examples – from handling an unresponsive waitress to inspiring frustrated team members – she demonstrates how intentional communication, clear goal-setting, and empathetic delivery can transform outcomes in both professional and personal contexts. Marjie shares her practical framework for effective communication: reverse engineer from your desired outcome, understand your audience's mindset, and deliver your message with the right words, tone, and timing. She emphasises the power of listening over talking, the importance of body language, and her favourite Irish proverb: "Keep your eye on the donut, not on the hole." Whether you're leading a team, preparing for a presentation, or simply trying to get your dry cleaning done faster, Marjie's insights offer a refreshing approach to communication that prioritises win-win outcomes, authenticity, and strategic thinking.    Connect with Marjie: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/marjiehadad/ Website:  https://marjiehadad.com/     ##########   If you are looking for a Blueprint to help you and your business manage uncertainty, deal with failure and navigate change then reach out to Julian at: julian@julianrobertsconsulting.com   You can buy my book "Weathering the Storm: A Guide to Building Resilient Teams" on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DFTYN2Y2   ##########

Today, local food pantries are navigating uncertain territory between conflicting directions from the federal government and increased need from local residents. Host Bianca Martin dives into the issue with Ellen Carlson, Wayforward Resources executive director. Want to give help to people in need or get help for yourself? There are resources available.
