Gavin Newsom, born in San Francisco, California, is the 40th Governor of California, serving since 2019. Hoci sa naša politická scéna už roky zaklína plamennými deklaráciami o priorite vzdelávania, faktom je čoraz viac upadajúce spoločenské postavenie učiteľov, ich žalostné platové ohodnotenie, neúmerne rastúca byrokracia, ustavične sa meniace plány čo a ako učiť, ale i vzrastajúci tlak rodičov, neraz nerešpektujúcich autoritu učiteľa. Napriek tomu i v takýchto podmienkach pôsobí v našich školách mnoho erudovaných, zapálených a inšpiratívnych učiteľov a učitieliek.Kto teda je dobrým učiteľom a čo robí z učiteľa dobrého učiteľa? Ako v dnešnej dobe preplnenej podnetmi zaujať deti a vzbudiť v nich zvedavosť? Prečo škola rozhodne nie je iba o vzdelávaní, testoch a známkach, ale aj o výchove a formovaní komplexných osobností? To je jedna z najkľúčovejších postáv zásadne utvárajúcich svet našich detí a formujúcich nielen ich vzdelanie, ale aj výchovu našich potomkov. Napokon, kto z nás si aj v zrelom veku nespomenie na nejakého toho svojho učiteľa, ktorý mu tak trochu zmenil svet, otvoril mu nové obzory, motivoval ho k zvedavosti či naučil ho hodnotám férovosti alebo poctivej práce.Napriek tomu, že toto všetci už dlho a veľmi dobre vieme a napriek tomu, že hodnotu vzdelanej spoločnosti nám opakovane potvrdzujú i všemožné štatistiky vyspelých krajín sveta, skutočná realita je na Slovensku neraz veľmi tristná. Hoci sa naša politická scéna už roky zaklína plamennými deklaráciami o priorite vzdelávania, faktom je čoraz viac upadajúce spoločenské postavenie učiteľov, ich žalostné platové ohodnotenie, neúmerne rastúca byrokracia, ustavične sa meniace plány čo a ako učiť, ale i vzrastajúci tlak rodičov, neraz nerešpektujúcich autoritu učiteľa. Napriek tomu i v takýchto podmienkach pôsobí v našich školách mnoho erudovaných, zapálených a inšpiratívnych učiteľov a učiteliek.Kto teda je dobrým učiteľom a čo robí z učiteľa dobrého učiteľa? Ako v dnešnej dobe preplnenej podnetmi zaujať deti a vzbudiť v nich zvedavosť? Prečo škola rozhodne nie je iba o vzdelávaní, testoch a známkach, ale aj o výchove a formovaní komplexných osobností? Ako dôležité je to tak často skloňované kritické myslenie a aká by mala byť v týchto audiovizuálnych časoch úloha mediálnej výchovy? V čom teda naši učitelia žijú a aké sú tie dnešné deti?
