Brett Ewing is the Founder and CEO of AXE.AI, a cutting-edge cybersecurity SaaS start-up, and the Chief Information Security Officer at 3DCloud. He has built a career in offensive cybersecurity, focusing on driving exponential improvement. Brett progressed from a Junior Penetration Tester to Chief Operating Officer at Strong Crypto, a provider of cybersecurity solutions. He brings over 15 years of experience in information technology, with the past six years focused on penetration testing, incident response, advanced persistent threat simulation, and business development. He holds degrees in secure systems administration and cybersecurity, and is currently completing a Masters in cybersecurity with a focus area in AI/ML security at the SANS Technology Institute. Brett also holds more than a dozen certifications in IT, coding, and security from the SANS Institute, CompTIA, AWS, and other industry vendors. In this episode… Penetration testing plays a vital role in cybersecurity, but the traditional manual process is often slow and resource-heavy. Traditional testing cycles can take weeks, creating gaps that leave organizations vulnerable to fast-moving threats. With growing interest in more efficient approaches, organizations are exploring new AI tools to automate tasks like tool configuration, project management, and data analysis. How can cybersecurity teams use AI to test environments faster without increasing risk? AXE.AI offers an AI-powered platform that supports ethical hackers and red teamers by automating key components of the penetration testing process. The platform reduces overhead by configuring tools, analyzing output, and building task lists during live engagements. This allows teams to complete high-quality tests in days instead of weeks. AXE.AI's approach supports complex environments, improves data visibility for testers, and scales efficiently across enterprise networks. The company emphasizes a human-centered approach and advocates for workforce education and training as a foundation for secure AI adoption. In today's episode of She Said Privacy/He Said Security, Jodi and Justin Daniels speak with Brett Ewing, Founder and CEO of AXE.AI, about leveraging AI for offensive cybersecurity. Brett explains how AXE.AI's platform enhances penetration testing and improves speed and coverage for large-scale networks. He also shares how AI is changing both attack and defense strategies, highlighting the risks posed by large language models (LLMs) and deepfakes, and explains why investing in continuous workforce training remains the most important cyber defense for companies today.

Once whispered about in hushed tones, the topic of painful penetration is finally finding its voice. It's surprising, as well as alarming, how many women endure this struggle in silence, putting up with traditional sexual intercourse through gritted teeth, simply because it hurts too much. For older women, pain during penetration is often blamed on hormonal change but it's not just about biology. There's the fear that can be as a result of trauma, an accident, for example, that can make penetration feel like an insurmountable hurdle. And it doesn't matter whether it's a partner or something as clinical as a speculum; the result is the same. For some, like my guest Dr. Amanda Olson, it was an accident so severe it turned intimacy into agony. Her journey, though, led her to something remarkable: retraining as a pelvic floor therapist and founding Intimate Rose, a company that creates vaginal dilators and other tools designed not just to heal, but to rediscover pleasure. When Amanda and I spoke, we dived headfirst into the subject of dilators - how they work, who they help, and why they matter. We explored their role in managing conditions like vaginismus, that frustratingly misunderstood tightrope between mind and body. Amanda explained how combining dilators with carefully guided exercises can be life-changing, transforming what once felt impossible into something empowering. But here's the issue that comes up so often during my podcast conversations which is that so many women struggle to access this kind of support. Why? A shocking lack of education among healthcare professionals. The resources are there, the tools exist, but too often the system leaves women fumbling in the dark, feeling dismissed or ashamed for even asking. It's a conversation long overdue, and one that's only just beginning. If you have enjoyed this podcast, please comment, subscribe, share. In this episode, I dive deep into the concept of penetration pricing—a strategy where you set an initially low price to attract customers quickly and gain market share, with plans to increase your price later. I'll break down how this approach differs from loss leader pricing and explain when and how to use it effectively. Whether you're in a highly competitive market or run a subscription-based service, understanding this pricing model can be a game-changer for increasing customer adoption, building brand awareness, and establishing long-term customer relationships. Plus, learn how to implement limited-time introductory pricing, use creative bundling, and manage the transition to higher pricing smoothly. For this episode we're joined by veteran music scribe Phil Sutcliffe to discuss his years on Sounds, Q and MOJO. We start by hearing about our guest's Beatles-obsessed adolescence in the North London suburb of Barnet, then follow him up to Manchester University and his subsequent apprenticeship on the Newcastle Evening Chronicle. Phil explains how he got his foot in the door at Sounds in 1974, initially reviewing gigs on Tyneside before moving back to London to become one of the weekly magazine's key '70s writers. We discuss the paper's transition from Gentle Giant and Back Street Crawler to the Damned and the Sex Pistols — and to the interviews Phil did with County Durham punks Penetration and beloved Salford bard John Cooper Clarke. From JCC's visit to the Oxford Poetry Festival in 1980, we turn our attention to the week's featured act — politicised post-punks Gang of Four — and thence to the more controversially reactionary Eric Clapton. Clips from John Hutchinson's 1981 audio interview with the guitar "God" prompt conversation about his musical evolution and the infamous 1976 outburst that inspired the launch of Rock Against Racism. After Mark quotes from newly-added library pieces about Joe Harriott (1964), Miles Davis (1969) and Al Green (1973), Jasper takes us out with his thoughts on articles about Courtney Love (1991), Snoop Dogg (2003) and Cardi B (2019). Please note that this episode was recorded before we learned of the very sad passings of former Gang Of Four bassist Dave Allen and Malian superstar Amadou Bagayoko — along with Phil Sutcliffe's fellow Sounds contributor Sandy Robertson. Many thanks to special guest Phil Sutcliffe. Pieces discussed: The Beatles: I Was A Beatlemaniac, Penetration: Anarchy In County Durham, The Bard Of Beasley Street At The Seat Of Learning, Gang of Four: Dialectics Meet Disco, Gang Of Four: The Revolution Lightens Up, Andy Gill meets Andy Gill, Eric Clapton audio, Eric Clapton: Out of the Darkness, Joe Harriott: Jazz Abstractionist, Miles Davis: In a Silent Way, Hole: Calling the Tune, Snoop Dogg and Welcome to the Cardi Party.

Penetration tests are probably the most common and recognized cybersecurity consulting services. Nearly every business above a certain size has had at least one pentest by an external firm. Here's the thing, though - the average ransomware attack looks an awful lot like the bog standard pentest we've all been purchasing or delivering for years. Yet thousands of orgs every year fall victim to these attacks. What's going on here? Why are we so bad at stopping the very thing we've been training against for so long? Penetration tests are probably the most common and recognized cybersecurity consulting services. Nearly every business above a certain size has had at least one pentest by an external firm. Here's the thing, though - the average ransomware attack looks an awful lot like the bog standard pentest we've all been purchasing or delivering for years. Yet thousands of orgs every year fall victim to these attacks. What's going on here? Why are we so bad at stopping the very thing we've been training against for so long? It's been awhile since we've gotten back to our roots on this podcast by reviewing some red light therapy research. By happenstance, both studies are concerning the oral cavity. The first article looks at photobiomodulation's effect on dentin hypersensitivity (one big reason why I wish I had RLT back when I was a kid!). The second study looks at various wavelengths, amongst red and NIR light, to see their impact on penetrating the tooth and, ultimately, having an effect on the dental pulp. Before we talk about the research in today's episode, I do review the newest, updated version of the BioBlue Capsules. While there are no changes relative to the recipe of those supplements, there has been an improvement with how the supplement is produced that drastically alters the color of the capsules and likely improves its delivery to the body.Lastly, I wanted to cover an amazing testimonial that we received about our BioBlue Leuco products and how it completely abolished a customer's IBS symptoms. The interesting part is that they were initially using the supplement in an effort to mitigate and reverse eyesight issues. In the end, they were pleasantly surprised and pleased with the life-changing results they received when their chronic IBS disappeared. While there isn't much research on MB or leucoMB on gut health, it does makes sense that this person saw positive results, as we do have plenty of mitochondrion living in our gut. Mitochondria did evolve from bacteria after all! If you found the information in today's episode particularly interesting and/or compelling, please share it with a family member, friend, colleague and/or anyone that you think could benefit and be illuminated by this knowledge. Sharing is caring :)As always, light up your health! - Key Points: [01:14] Introduction to a testimonial from the BioLight website [01:26] Background on BioLight website updates and product reviews [02:29] Importance of product reviews and customer feedback [03:11] Customer testimonial about BioBlue Leuco Capsules [04:15] Customer's experience with IBS resolution after using BioBlue Leuco [06:30] Discussion of methylene blue dosages and effects [08:02] Customer initially took BioBlue Leuco for eyesight improvement [08:58] Unexpected benefit: resolution of IBS symptoms [09:57] Customer's sister experiences the same IBS relief [11:08] Broader impact of mitochondrial therapies on health [12:21] Announcement of an update to BioBlue Capsules [13:23] Change in capsule formulation: micronized taurine for better consistency [14:53] Explanation of color change in new BioBlue Capsules [16:26] Scientific explanation: Tyndall effect and particle size impact on color [17:26] Light reflection and surface area influence on capsule color [18:43] Importance of homogeneity in the new formulation [21:29] Red Light Therapy and Oral Health (Dentin Hypersensitivity Study) [21:44] Study Overview and Methods [23:09] Results of the Study (Pain Reduction, Dosage Details) [24:09] Applying the Research to BioLight Devices (Guardian, Guardian+, Panels) [24:38] Dosage Calculations for Different Devices [26:09] Treatment Duration and Frequency Considerations [28:04] Comparing Different Red Light Therapy Devices for Oral Care [30:51] Importance of Accurate Dosage and Treatment Protocols [32:55] Challenges in Red Light Therapy Research and Standardization [33:12] Introduction to Second Study (Near-Infrared Light Transmission in Teeth) [34:07] Importance of Near-Infrared Light for Deeper Oral Benefits [35:01] Guardian Device vs. Other Oral Red Light Therapy Devices [36:22] Study Overview: Factors Affecting Light Penetration in Teeth [38:18] Impact of Tooth Shade on Near-Infrared Light Transmission 39:52 Study Aim: Light transmission in human teeth for PBM 40:17 Light sources used in the study 41:36 Total energy and energy density for 60 seconds 42:31 Discussion: Light transmission through teeth 44:44 Light source orientation and effect on transmission 46:15 Conclusion: Near-infrared vs. red light transmission 47:39 LED vs. laser transmission efficiency 48:12 Benefits of activating dental pulp 49:22 Importance of near-infrared for oral health - Articles referenced in episode: Effect of photobiomodulation on dentin hypersensitivity: a randomized controlled double-blind clinical trial The influence of tooth shade on near-infrared light transmission through human dentine and enamel: an in-vitro study - Your entire wellness is directly impacted by your oral health. In this episode, I'm speaking with Tom Kerber, a fascinating entrepreneur with a great deal of knowledge and experience (particularly on the engineering side) in the field of photobiomodulation, (aka modifying biology with light). Approximately 20 years ago, a series of professional and personal events led Tom to shift his career from electronic development to LED device development (like the small blue light device your dentist uses to cure fillings…yes, Tom invented that!). In part 1 of this two-part series, Tom and I discuss some of the most pressing questions about red and near-infrared light therapy with a focus on how different devices penetrate the body and affect deeper tissues, along with light therapy applications and case studies. Tom has been developing tools and equipment to do a lot of sophisticated experimentation on penetration depth of red and near-infrared light (which is a much-needed contribution to the field), so I invited him onto the show to discuss his work, which evolved into a 2-part conversation.
