Unauthorized or improperly parked vehicles will be towed away at the owner's expense." Means that if—if you leave your mind unattended and not engaged in Kṛṣṇa's service, it's like you just parked it somewhere in the wrong place, it'll get towed away. And when you get your mind towed away, if you've ever had your car towed away, you've got to go down to the impound and pay some exorbitant amount of money to get it back. It's not easy, and so don't park your mind in an improper place and just leave it there, because it will get towed so far away, you may not be able to find it again. Every Worthy Goal Requires Discipline | Japa Jolt | HG Vaisesika Dasa | 30 Apr 2025

Every worthy goal has a discipline. Some people work for becoming a surgeon—four years of college, seven years of medical school, residency, waiting for this and that, maybe to cure cancer. Is there a cure for cancer? No, but they still keep doing it. And there's this practice of reaching our original position with Kṛṣṇa in the spiritual world. What's that worth? Four years of college, seven years of special training? It's worth lifetimes, and every session of chanting japa is a testament to our determination to reach Kṛṣṇa, who says in His teachings to Uddhava, "This dedication that you have—bhaktyāham ekayā grāhyaḥ śraddhayātmā priyaḥ satām—it's very dear to Me." So if we remember that the goal is something beyond what anybody else is doing in this world, and that our orientation is towards Kṛṣṇa, despite whatever other duties we have to do in this world, our main process is pointing ourselves back home, back to Godhead. Every japa session is a welcome opportunity to lean into that determination and express to Kṛṣṇa from our heart, "This is what I really want." So we can use this session today. For some of us on the West Coast, it's still Akṣaya Tṛtīyā until the sun is fully up. But whatever, it doesn't matter. The main point is that every moment is an opportunity to express our sincere desire to reach Kṛṣṇa, so we can put that into the chanting today. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

So in japa, this principle can be applied of asking Kṛṣṇa for what's most valuable, and we can ask again and again, because the mind might go to something lesser. The main obstacle is a clear path to a lesser goal, and in japa, we're forging a path to the highest goal, but it has to come from us, and that's why it's an individual practice. Kṛṣṇa wants to know especially what we want. He's attentive to every living entity in an individualized way. So if you remember that it's personal and that the only kind of chanting or asking that's fulfilling is if we ask Kṛṣṇa for what's most important, which is sincere service at His lotus feet, and to help us overcome any attraction to anything less than that. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #makejapagreatagain #mantrameditation #chantharekrishnaandbehappy #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

'Drive with care' is something Kṛṣṇa points out in the Bhagavad Gita. First he says, "yānti deva-vratā devān pitṝn yānti pitṛ-vratāḥ bhūtāni yānti bhūtejyā yānti mad-yājino 'pi mām (BG 9.25)." Yanti means to go. He said, You can go any direction you want. In this universe, it's a matter of where you push your attention. Because where attention goes, energy flows. And he says you should drive with care, because, for instance, if you drive blindfolded, you're going to smash into somebody, and it's going to have a negative consequence on your life. So in the Gita, he talks about how you should be aware of how the world is comprised of three modes of material nature, and be careful where you associate yourself and how you interact with the world. Be very careful and deliberate where you go by getting knowledge about how to move towards a worthy destination and how to choose all the right circumstances so that you can keep moving in that direction. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura gives this technique for success in chanting which is to beg. If you beg Kṛṣṇa for a place in devotional service, you will make advancement, although we're helpless—just tiny beings enveloped by the material energy and conducted by the modes of material nature—if we beg Him to be a servant and just keep begging over and over again, think of a very persistent beggar who follows somebody for miles and miles and miles and won't give up. That's how Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura says that he was successful. He received the Holy Name from Lord Caitanya because he begged for it. So, if you want it bad enough and you're willing to beg for it and just do whatever is necessary, let it all be in your voice and the chanting, and have your hand out: "Please, Kṛṣṇa, give me something, just even a molecule." ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

If we sincerely try to fix our mind on Kṛṣṇa and we practice, then: teṣāṁ satata-yuktānāṁ bhajatāṁ prīti-pūrvakam dadāmi buddhi-yogaṁ taṁ yena mām upayānti te Kṛṣṇa directly gives us intelligence, the practice of devotional service. He's there. He's speaking to us. Actually, He's always trying to direct, but it's like when somebody's speaking to you and you're looking into your cell phone and you're not actually paying attention, or your mind is going somewhere else, and then you say, "What'd you say?" And they say, "I just told you." It's like, "Yeah, but I didn't hear you," but it went right in your ear, but I didn't hear you because I didn't give attention. So Kṛṣṇa is speaking to us, but in material life, 'bhayaṁ dvitīyābhiniveśataḥ syād'—I'm absorbed in something else, some other thing besides hearing Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa consciousness is so simple, it means turning our attention, our awareness, back to listening to Kṛṣṇa. And if we follow four regulative principles, and we chant 16 rounds, and we live in the association of devotees, take prasādam, then gradually we can hear Kṛṣṇa's voice in the buddhi-yoga. He tells us exactly what to tell people, which person needs this, which person needs that, and also guides us on how to move forward in Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Of course, He also expands Himself externally, as Uddhava says to Kṛṣṇa, "Then I'm so grateful to You, because You not only instruct me from within, but You also manifest outwardly in the form of my different gurus who are directing me." ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

Because we've come to the end of Navaratri and because many are now finishing their mantra-repetition sādhana (puraścarana), I thought it would be nice to discuss the mantra for offering japa to the Divine Mother:oṁ guhyātiguhyagoptrī tvaṁ gṛhāṇāsmatkṛtaṁ japamsiddhirbhavatu me devi tvatprasādān maheśvari"O You who are the Protectress of the Secret of all Secrets (i.e the sacred, intimate mantra), accept this repetition of mantra done by us! Make me perfect (i.e help me accomplish the goal of this mantra repetition), which happens only by thy grace, You who are the Great Ruler of the Cosmos (mahā-īsvarī)"PS: if you are offering to a male deity then change "goptrī" to "gopta", "Devi" to "deva" and "maheśvarī" to "maheśvara" in the above mantra!" So it would be:oṁ guhyātiguhyagopta tvaṁ gṛhāṇāsmatkṛtaṁ japamsiddhirbhavatu me deva tvatprasādān maheśvaraThe prayer:oṁ mahāmāye jaganmātaḥ kālike ghoradakṣiṇegṛhāṇa vandanaṁ devi namaste parameśvarioṁ gṛhāṇa vandanaṁ mātaḥ sadā vijayavardhinipādapadmaṁ sadā vande sthānaṁ dehi padāmbuje"O Cosmic Confoundress (in the vocative case here), Mother of the World, Terrifying , Southward-Facing Kali! Accept my prayer! Salutations to you, Supreme Ruler of the Cosmos! (parama-īsvarī) Accept my prayer, O Mother who art ever Victorious (or who always increases victory!), I always praise thy lotus feet! The service that we do is always based on our intention. If we're cooking something or we're dressing The Deities, or let's say, leading a kīrtana, we're chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa. But if that mantra coming from our heart is actually, "Look at me. Look at me. Look at me. Everybody, look at me," it's not the same as if you're expressing, you know, "Kṛṣṇa, You're everything." So the real service comes from that intention of the way you're doing it. And chanting is the time, as I said in the very beginning, when you can fully express that, and even a molecule of that expression of sincerity is what connects us so deeply with Kṛṣṇa, because He's already there waiting for us to look, look in His direction. So you can think of it like that. He doesn't need anything from us, but when we give our loving attention with the mood of service, then that's service itself. ----------------------------------------------------------- To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #japajolt #mantrameditation #makejapagreatagain #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

We find in the case of Śiśupāla, a couple of things happen as he took birth. He was also extremely opulent. You may have noticed in the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, Śiśupāla was materially no slouch. He was practically described as more opulent than Kṛṣṇa. He had so much opulence he was killed by Rāmacandra in his next life. He had all these assets, and we all know that when he was a little child, he began saying the Lord's Names, and it's a chanting, but he was blaspheming Kṛṣṇa. He still had this hatred towards the Lord, and in his last act at the Rājasūya Yajña, where he tried to ruin the whole yajña, he waited till the perfect time to stand up and say, "Kṛṣṇa is not qualified," because previously, they could have taken back the yajña, but after it was already finished, and he said, if they had followed him and said Kṛṣṇa wasn't qualified to be the first one worshiped in this yajña, it would have nullified the whole rājasūya. So he was diabolical in his calculation, because he hated Kṛṣṇa so much, and he stood up in the assembly and began blaspheming Kṛṣṇa. So what happened there? Kṛṣṇa artfully cut off his head—artfully, I say because it was a yajña, he didn't want to spill any blood. So He's so precise in the way He chopped off his head. Sorry, I know it's a family show that no blood hit the ground. What's deeper and what's related to this conversation is that Śiśupāla, in the last moment before his head was severed, drank the beauty of the face of Lord Kṛṣṇa. What's more, he had been chanting Kṛṣṇa's names, and this I brought up at the Japa circle this morning, as mentioned by Rūpa Gosvāmī, there are two main ways that one becomes perfect in this life: one is by saying the names of the Lord, and the other is by seeing His beauty, because it's unparalleled. Rūpa Gosvāmī uses this as proof because Hiraṇyakaśipu saw Lord Nṛsiṁhadev, Rāvaṇa saw Lord Rāmacandra—no liberation. But when Śiśupāla saw Kṛṣṇa and chanted His names, he was liberated at that point. So there's a way in which Kṛṣṇa is Bhagavān Svayam. We have the description of Lord Rāmacandra within the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, but it's by way of comparison to take us through the rasas and bring us to the ultimate conclusion that Kṛṣṇa is the reservoir of all rasas. What's more, His beauty is incomparable even to His other forms. Let's not get it wrong. They're all Kṛṣṇa, but only Kṛṣṇa is Kṛṣṇa, and only those killed by Kṛṣṇa are completely liberated. HG Vaiśeṣika Dāsa encourages young minds to share the benefits of japa, a form of mantra meditation. They concur that japa is good because it helps individuals connect with Kṛṣṇa, providing assistance and guidance. Japa is particularly beneficial in Kali Yuga, as it is the recommended process. It helps one remember Kṛṣṇa, even when not actively chanting. Japa is also useful for calming down during moments of anger, promoting rational thinking and better decision-making. Additionally, it fosters a sense of interaction and closeness with Kṛṣṇa, potentially making one more spiritual. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

Kṛṣṇa, in the 11th canto of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, says to Uddhava, "sve sve 'dhikāre yā niṣṭhā, sa guṇaḥ parikīrtitaḥ, viparyayas tu doṣaḥ syād, ubhayor eṣa niścayaḥ" (SB 11.21.2)—that it's a good quality to know what you can do, what your adhikāra is, what you're capable of doing. He calls it a guṇa, a good quality. And he said "viparyayas tu doṣaḥ syād." Viparyaya means the opposite. If you try to do more than you're qualified for, then he said, it's not a good quality. Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura quotes this and comments on it in Śrī Caitanya-śikṣāmṛta, and he said that the process is like climbing a ladder. If you try to run up the ladder too fast, it's likely that you're going to slip and fall off. Then he said if you're too slow, which means you step on a rung and you know you're there, but then you hesitate to take the next step, he said, then your advancement is going to be slow. He said, so take a steady pace. Remember climbing a ladder—you want to put one foot on, and then take the next step when you feel steady at it. Birds fly in the sky as high as they're able, but the sky is unlimited. So where you are is inconsequential. What is consequential is your sincere desire to advance. Because it's all Kṛṣṇa. It's coming from Kṛṣṇa anyway. The capacity that we have will be bestowed upon us as we increase our sincerity. We can't really do anything on our own anyway, except for try as best we can and really focus on and pray to Kṛṣṇa with our sincerity. And another example that's given in the śāstra about Yaśodā.When she was trying to tie up Kṛṣṇa, the rope was two inches too short. So Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura says that two inches is significant because one inch means our own sincere endeavor to try to meet Kṛṣṇa, and then the second is Kṛṣṇa seeing that we're trying, and then He reaches out to us. https://vedabase.io/en/library/sb/11/21/2/ ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #japajolt #makejapagreatagain #chantharekrishnaandbehappy #mantrameditation #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

Everyone can become a great devotee, being freed from offenses 100% simply by one's determination and effort. We can remember also that "determination" has the word "terminus" in it; it means to finish something. In the case of chanting japa, there's a complete mantra, there's a complete round, there are complete 16 rounds, and so forth. And if we set ourselves in a mode where we're finishing and being very careful and attentive to finish the mantra, hearing it all the way through, and remembering also that when Yaśodā tried to bind Kṛṣṇa, that there were two inches lacking in the rope each time, and our ācārya Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura has said these represent one, our own effort to reach Kṛṣṇa, and two, Kṛṣṇa is appreciating our effort and then reaching back to us. So we can remember that if we extend ourselves—means give special care to listening to the mantra and finishing what we started—then it's likely that Kṛṣṇa will extend Himself to us as well. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose #makejapagreatagain #mantra #mantrameditation #chantharekrishnaandbehappy

And in rajas, the mind is trying to fix problems. And part of that is a sense of survival. "I have to do this in order to be whole, I have to stave off what I fear." We're in fear mode. That's more touching tamas and then rajas mode. "I'm going to fix it myself," and it takes a while to come out of that mode. The modes are no joke. They actually are very powerful energy: daivī hy eṣā guṇa-mayī. So how we interact with the modes throughout our days and what we think about—it's not that we just sit down and all of a sudden we just switch over into this pure flow of the holy name. It's a product of everything we do from morning till night. That's why the chanting of Hare Kṛṣṇa goes along with the pañcarātrika system—that they go on two tracks. So the Holy Name is the deliverer. There's nothing else needed. But can you just chant? Or do you think about all your problems? So you're not alone in that. It's the product of the Age of Kali—there's so much rajas and tamas, and our lifestyles are absorbed in rajas and tamas. And you do have a lot going on. You're going to school, you're working, you're doing all these things. So naturally, the mind is in that hyper mode of rajas. So a little more adjustment in some of the things you do throughout the day, like the way you wake up, the way you keep your mind engaged throughout the day, you just by degrees change from rajas habits to sāttvic habits. You know, like the screen. The screen has become ubiquitous. Everywhere I go, everywhere I look, everyone's got a screen in front of their face, and what's coming out of it? It's, if you analyze it, unless you're really only tuned into one app that's like the Hare Kṛṣṇa app, whatever that might be. And you know you're reprogramming your mind in rajas. Then you sit down to chant, and it is going to take you at 64 rounds before you start to feel something. A few rounds, you may just be somewhere else. Your mind's still going on the scroll. So then, what do you do? Start to adjust something like, do some Deity sevā, clean something, sweep something to, you know, add that in another 0.05% of your life. Go for another habit, and then start increasing on that side, and you'll see that that goes in parallel lines with your chanting, the lifestyle that we lead. That's why we follow four regulative principles. Because the four regulative principles, the energy that comes from the material world, is also assumed within those four prohibitions. And if you touch those by vision, by hearing, and all those kinds of things, then it just stays there in the mind, and it takes a long time to sweep that garbage out of there. So just by degrees, tiny bit at a time, so you don't feel overwhelmed, transfer your mind to sattva-guṇa. Get into sāttvic habits. And if you see yourself doing rajas habits, then put a time limit on it. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife

Do you do Japa with Om Namah Shivaya?A Mantra is that which removes all obstacles and miseries of one who reflects on it and bestows eternal bliss and immortality. Shiva Panchakshara (Namah Shivaya) is the best among seven crores of Mantras. There are seven Skandhas in Krishna Yajurveda. There is Rudradhyayi in the centre of the middle Skandha. In this Rudradhyayi, in the 8th Anuvak, Namah Shivaya or the Shiva Panchakshara Mantra is found. Its glory is indescribable. It means salutations to Bhagawan Shiva, signifying surrender. It is also indicating our essential oneness with Infinitr Consciousness or Shiva. In this way it is a Mahavakya. He who does Japa of this Panchakshara is freed from births and deaths and attains eternal bliss. This is the emphatic declaration of the Vedas. This Panchakshara is the body of Bhagawan Nataraja. This is the abode of Bhagawan Shiva. If you add ‘Om ' to the ‘Namah Shivaya' in the beginning, then it becomes Shadakshara or six-lettered Mantra.Take bath. Wear Bhasma and Rudraksha Mala. Sit on Padmasana or Sukhasana, facing East or North, in a quiet place or room. Repeat silently the Panchakshara and meditate on the form of Bhagawan Shiva. If you practise meditation regularly, your heart will be purified. All Samskaras and sins will be burnt in moments. You will attain Shiva-Yoga-Nishtha or Nirvikalpa Samadhi. You will attain the glorious Shiva-Gati and become one with Bhagawan Shiva. You will enjoy the eternal bliss of Shivanandam.#shiva #omnamahshivaya #omnamahshivay #namahshivaya #panchakshari #mantra #mantrajapa #japa #meditation #shivaratri #moksha #shivoham[shiva, meditation, spiritual practice, hindu, sadhana, japa, mala, repetition, holy name, freedom, mukti, sins, destroyer, Consciousness]

RUDRAKSHA JABALA UPANISHAD says Bhusunda questioned Lord Kalagnirudra: What is the beginning of Rudraksha beads? What is the benefit of wearing them on the body? Lord Kalagnirudra answered him thus: “I closed my eyes for the sake of destroying the Tripura Asuras. From my eyes thus closed, drops of water fell on the earth. These drops of tears turned into Rudrakshas. By the mere utterance of the name of ‘Rudraksha', one acquires the benefit of giving ten cows in charity. By seeing and touching it, one attains double that benefit.I closed my eyes one thousand celestial years. Then from my eyelids, drops of water dropped down and attained the state of immobility for blessing the devoted personsThis Rudraksha destroys the devotees' sins that are committed both night and day, by wearing it.By mere vision of the Rudraksha, the benefit will be say, a lac. But by wearing them, it will be a crore. Why, it will be equal to hundred crores. But it will be a thousand lacs of crores and hundred lacs of crores times powerful when one does Japa with Rudraksha and wears it at all times. Among Rudrakshas, one as big as Amalaka (myrobalan), is considered to be the best. One as big as the Badari fruit (Indian berry) is considered to be of the middle sort. But that as big as Chana (Bengal gram) is considered to be the worst of all. This is my idea about the size of Rudraksha beads. A worshipper of Siva should wear Rudraksha all over the body. The base of the Rudraksha bead is Brahma, its navel is Vishnu, its face is Rudra and its hole consists of all gods. One who wears Rudrakshas, should not use intoxicants, meat, garlic, onions and all such prohibited things.”#shiva #rudraksha #rudrakshapower #rudra #mahadev#mala #tears #haraharamahadev #harharmahadev

There's an anxiety created by what's called "The Paradox of Choice." There was a book written about it, some scientific studies and the psychological effects of having too many choices. And Kṛṣṇa talks about it in the Bhagavad-gītā, when He says, "vyavasāyātmikā buddhir, ekeha kuru-nandana, bahu-śākhā hy anantāś ca, buddhayo 'vyavasāyinām." When you think that you have many choices calling to you, then your mind becomes confused and you're pulled in many directions. Bahu-śākhā—unlimited directions. But when you can come to a resolution that there's one solution, one choice, then your mind becomes peaceful. And this is the prescription given by all the great ācāryas—that there's a one-stop shopping, there's one product that will solve all your problems and achieve all your ambitions, goals, desires, has all the solutions within it. That's the Mahāmantra. So you can start there, and you'll always win with the basics. Every discipline you perform has the 20% activities that bring the 80% result. Well, the chanting, the Mahāmantra, it's the one basic that everybody agrees on. This is the most important. The quote from the motivational speaker, Jim Rohn, said, "There's no shortage of opportunity. There's only a shortage of those who will apply themselves to the basics that success requires." One more time: "There's no shortage of opportunity. There's only a shortage of those who will apply themselves to the basics that success requires." And finally, it's documented that there's more success in curing any kind of ailment when one consults the expert versus self-diagnosis and self-treatment/self-medication. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

In this next installment of our How To Do Tantrik Ritual series, we look at three very important moments in Tantrik ritual worship (namely, bhūta-śuddhi, nyāsa and gandhādi pūjā) that all serve to reinforce the idea of Advaita, non-duality in the context of worship. Over and over we affirm that the One being worshipped and the One worshipping as well as the very tools and items of the worship themselves are all One and the Same Reality: Consciousness-Bliss, Shiva. As such, we discuss how pūjā (ritual worship) and japa (mantra recitation) can act as powerful sādhanas (spiritual techniques) for truly realizing non-duality beyond mere intellectual concepts. We also talk a little bit about the importance of the sacred pilgrimage places known as śākta pīthas, and how these might be mapped unto the body in the process of nyāsa. Excitingly, we compare the rather similar mythological structures of the "Dismemberment of Osiris" episode in the Egyptian pantheon to the "Dismember of Sati" incident in the Purānas to make a point about sacred geography and the Immanence of God, following from last week's discussion on Nyāsa as a Sacred Pilgrimage Practice!A truly exciting discussion! When I was just in Māyāpur, one of the events during our stay there was the opening of the Prabhupāda Museum. So I went there by invitation, and one of the aspects that I was treated to was a couple of Godbrothers that I hadn't seen in a long time were sitting outside the museum talking. So I joined in the conversation, and one of them said to me, "My aspiration in this last stage of my life is to realize the verse of Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura: 'There's nothing else to be had in the fourteen worlds except the holy name.'" And of course, I've heard that many times before, and I've also quoted it myself, but hearing it from a Godbrother who's serious—a stalwart, had a special effect on me, and it became a meditation of mine. And it made the chanting of my rounds even more relishable. Because I was thinking, "Where else is there to go? There's nothing else to be had in the fourteen worlds except The Holy Name," and full permission just to be completely present with the Mahāmantra. And what's more, to put it at the very top of my list for priorities, is to hear, chant, remember The Holy Name, and don't worry—everything else will be obtained by chanting The Holy Names without offense. So, during this time, we get an opportunity to leave aside all of the considerations and give full attention to chanting of Japa and a few points extrapolated from the Prabhupāda's teachings. One is that practice well, well you can. He gave an analogy of learning to fly an airplane and said that at some point, you have to fly solo. So get used to taking responsibility for your japa. Then, if you practice well, you will have the shelter of Kṛṣṇa very readily by calling out: āpannaḥ saṁsṛtiṁ ghorāṁ yan-nāma vivaśo gṛṇan tataḥ sadyo vimucyeta yad bibheti svayaṁ bhayam (SB 1.1.14) One of the first points Sūta Swāmī makes to the sages—perhaps it's Śaunaka speaking at this point—is that actually there's no difference between Kṛṣṇa and his name. So take full advantage while you can. Why Ati Rudra Maha Yajnam | Sri K Vedanarayanan - https://youtu.be/MNbceoGT5_k Ati Rudra Maha Yajnam performed by Swami's devotees is primarily a prayer for world peace and happiness. Sacrificing the fruits of good action for a greater cause is the essence of yajnas performed in Swamis Presence. However, the yajna is also meant for inner purification. Following a strict set of Vedic procedures, the yajna along with the process of Mahanyasa bring about this purification. Sri K Vedanarayanan explains in this presentation - the various steps of the yajna, of Mahanyasa, of Dhyana and Japa. All these activities form a composite whole and make the experience of the Ati Rudra Maha Yajnam unique. The wisdom of our ancients pervades all levels of existence catering to the well-being of our gross, subtle and causal forms. Although elaborate in its approach, the Ati Rudra Maha Yajnam in combination with Mahanyasa is a call which aligns one to the truth and purpose of one's existence which is a rarity in today's age of incessant distraction.

I was thinking, so many people are going to the Kumbh Melā, everyone's looking for that one-time place where they can dip in and then be like, 'Okay, I'm elevated, I'm rectified,' whatever motive there is. But this felt to me like the perfect Kumbh Melā. It's coming together to chant. You're hitting the exact spot. There is no point at which one can be more perfectly situated than chanting japa, especially in the association of devotees. So don't worry if you didn't make it to the Kumbh Melā this time, because you're here, and you can be there at any time just by uttering the holy name of the Lord. That's one of the main points of the śāstra. This is a good example of vaidhi-bhakti. You're disturbed when you're three minutes late. This means a very strict idea of how to follow the process. I have a god brother, Saurī Dāsa, who lived with him in the ashram in Hawaii and other places, and he's down to the second. Everything's like, "Get out of my way. We got to do this now," and everything has to be fixed and regulated. He gets up at the same time, and actually, in the beginning of the practice of devotional service, or throughout, we find that the great devotees, Raghunātha Dāsa Goswāmī's practice was like lines in stone, very strictly following. This leads to more advanced stages of the practice of devotional service. So that's good to hear that your mind becomes disturbed by being three minutes late.Hare Kṛṣṇa. I'll read something for our last section. This is from the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam six canto, Ajāmila delivered by the Viṣṇudūtas. "One who chants the holy name of the Lord is immediately freed from the reactions of unlimited sins, even if he chants indirectly to indicate something else, jokingly for musical entertainment or even neglectfully. This is accepted by all the learned scholars of the scriptures. If one chants the holy name of Hari and then dies because of an accidental misfortune, such as falling from the top of a house, slipping and suffering broken bones while traveling on the road, being bitten by a serpent, being afflicted with pain and high fever, or being injured by a weapon, one is immediately absolved from having to enter hellish life, even though he is sinful." ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose #makejapagreatagain #mantra #mantrameditation #chantharekrishnaandbehappy #harekrishna

This morning, I was listening to Śrīla Prabhupāda, and he was saying that it's not hard to see God. He said it's easy. He said it's just that you do not want to see God. And this indicates that it's our attitude which is most important when we're approaching The Holy Names. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu gave simple but ample instructions about Kṛṣṇa's names, and one of them is that he's not different from his name, and that all the potencies—all his personal potencies, which is the meaning of God, He's all potent—are present there within the name, just as they are in the person. There's no difference. But then Rūpa Gosvāmī says, but there is a difference, even though the name and the named—Vācam Vācakam—means the name and the named. Everyone says they're not different, but he said they are different. He said because The Holy Name is even more merciful than Kṛṣṇa, because one may abandon Kṛṣṇa, turn away from Kṛṣṇa, but The Holy Name comes to reclaim us and give us an opportunity. As Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura says in the last song of his Śaraṇāgati, Kṛṣṇa, in the form of The Holy Name, takes him by the hand back to Godhead and leads him to his relationship with Kṛṣṇa, which is inconceivable. Nonetheless, we have the opportunity, wherever we may be, to take the Mahāmantra to heart as our main means of connecting with Kṛṣṇa and inviting him to take us by the hand also. The root cause of misery is the material body, and a direct process of devotional service, especially chanting japa, has a way of bringing us to the plane of transcendence, and that means also being able to see clearly who we are. 'Vāsudeve bhagavati bhakti-yogaḥ prayojitaḥ janayaty āśu vairāgyaṁ jñānaṁ ca yad ahaitukam (SB 1.2.7).' Sūta Gosvāmī said there's a natural way in which we achieve knowledge when we do devotional service. And real knowledge means 'kṣetra-jñaṁ cāpi māṁ viddhi sarva-kṣetreṣu bhārata kṣetra-kṣetra jñayor jñānaṁ yat taj jñānaṁ mataṁ mama.' (BG 13.3) Kṛṣṇa says, "My opinion is if you can see the difference between yourself and the field that you're occupying now, that's knowledge." So in summation, the chanting of Japa is the primary means by which we can overcome all of the anxieties of life that are caused by identifying with the body and the mind. What's more, we can experience a connection with Kṛṣṇa through chanting his name, because there's no difference between Kṛṣṇa and his name, and therefore I've come to say to myself, and I'm sure I've uttered it out loud a few other times, that if all else fails, and it will, especially printers and internet connections and so forth, then chant Hare Kṛṣṇa. So my mantra is, if all else fails, and it will, Chant Hare Kṛṣṇa. What do you think of my mantra? And we can commiserate with others about how many things fail in this world: relationships fail, governments fail bank accounts, everything, whatever it is, sooner or later, will fail us, but Kṛṣṇa never fails us. So it's nice to be in a practice where there's no fault, no one can find fault with it, and what's more, that it's an infallible process. Applied Procrastination: Stay in The Moment And Chant | GYR | Mayapur | 2 Jan 2023

And today, I just want to mention a principle that's very helpful in staying in the moment and continuing chanting despite the phenomena that the mind will drag us in various ways, as Kṛṣṇa mentions in the Bhagavad Gitā. So, that's a principle called applied procrastination. Procrastination—everybody knows how to procrastinate because all you do is just put things off until the next time. And the same principle can be applied in staying fixed in Japa. When the mind comes with some other idea besides chanting, like, could you name three things the mind might suggest to say, "Rather than doing this, let's go do that"? Sleep. Sleep. Now, it's a "sleep now" movement, so there could be sleep. That's definitely one of the ones that's like, "I'm tired. I want to go sleep." That can also be overcome by going to bed earlier. It is important to manage sleep in order to have good Japa. What's another one? You want to go talk prajalpa instead. Somebody's out on the balcony talking about some juicy gossip, and you don't want to miss it. What's the third one? Planning. Yeah, there might be some plans you have to make, something like that, and it could be a correspondence that you forgot. And then it comes into your mind that, "Oh, if I don't do it now, this person's going to hate me, and I can't tolerate it," so I give up chanting, and I go away. So, that's four, but there could be 1,000 that we could name possibly. So, the principle of applied procrastination was showed to us by Haridāsa Thākura, or the Nāmācharya. When a prostitute came, he didn't say never. He just said later. And the word "later" is really helpful because there's always some later. And instead of saying no, and whatever you resist persists, you just say, "Sure, no problem, but not right now. I'll just wait till later on," and just put it off so that can be really helpful. That works for many different kinds of discipline. Like if you don't want to eat too much, and the mind says to eat, you just say, "Well, you know, there's going to be another meal later. I'll make up for it next time, and I'll eat less. I'll eat half as much this time, and next time I'll eat twice as much." But later never comes. You just keep putting it off. It's the same with taxes. You're supposed to defer taxes till later, when you're in a lower tax bracket. And also, there's a saying that "justice delayed is justice denied." So, it's a tactic in the legal circles. It's like, "Okay, not right now, we'll just deal with it later," and you keep putting obstacles so it's further away. And then there's another principle that helps, which is something they teach in accounting, which is especially for accounts receivable. It's called the law of diminishing intent because the longer you wait to collect on a bill, the less people are willing to pay it because the time factor makes their will less strong. So, just delay and staying in the process of chanting. One of the sayings in Japan, when things are tough, they say 'gaman,' which means just keep going. And with the devotional service, there are different periods of our life where we are at a crossroads, and things seem difficult. What should I do? What's going to happen? There's only one solution. Ultimately, it's 'gaman' with your Japa. And I was thinking this morning, it's 'fix your Japa, fix your life.' There's lots of other things you can do, but it's the main thing to fix your life. If you get that straight and make that your priority, then all the other things become easy, like the admonition that if you remember Lord Caitanya, then difficult things become easy, and vice versa, if you forget them, then easy things become difficult. It seems too simple. Everyone wants to use their mode of passion mind to figure everything out and put it in order. But it's better to fix the Japa first and then see what happens. How did the Jālangī look? How did it feel just to be in the atmosphere of the dhāma and with no other concern? These people coming by, they're going to the temple, and that's real life. And then that's the great benefit we take with us, always keep in our hearts. Śrīla Prabhupāda gave us this great benediction. And Kṛṣṇa is always there, available for us, just like with Vidura. He went here, there, and everywhere, and if you spent three months—I'm also not recommending this in case anybody asks—if you just spent three months and you went from top to bottom of India, you just stay in the spiritual environment without any other concern. Take a little māhaprasādam, take some Caraṇāmṛta, a few tulasī leaves, chant, hear, see The Lord, and you'll be completely happy. So when you know that's your inheritance, you're never worried because you know that's—that's my default. I keep that in my heart, and at any time I can expand my service.Dear Śrīla Prabhupāda. Fade means to gradually grow weak. Generally, people don't give up japa immediately and just walk away, but it fades away. Their sādhanā fades. And this can happen on a weekly basis, monthly, or yearly basis. So, we have to be aware of the phenomenon called 'japa fade'. All practices fade without attention. All practices fade without attention. So, attention means to give special care. It's one of the meanings of attention. It also comes from the word ten, which means to stretch. We have to stretch towards it. We have to stretch ourselves every day. So, some of the tenets of practical application of this are: practice pronouncing the syllables. Syllables are meaningful. If we miss them, then we're not actually doing the practice. Pronounce the syllables. 'Hare' means the original energy of the Lord. So, make sure you say the syllables. It is the manifestation of that person. Next, is to be determined to make your japa better each day. This is the only way to avoid japa fade: is to be determined to make your japa better each day. Don't be satisfied with the status quo. These are thoughts to collect and keep on track. An author named Collins wrote the book 'From Good to Great' regarding corporations, and similarly, we should have our own book 'From Good to Great in Japa' and keep track of what it is that practically helps us to trend towards great japa, instead of trending back the other way towards poor japa, and poor japa that we fade away. It's one of the main processes. It is the main process for advancing on the path of bhakti. So let's try a little more. We'll just do a quick summation, and a question is, how much do you like japa? Do you like it? This is for our own edification, just to consider how much you like it. Do you like it enough to sit and chant all day long? Do you like it enough to sit for at least enough time to chant 16 rounds a day? Or do you not have appreciation for it and you'd rather not chant at all? Somewhere within that spectrum, what would you say if you were to measure it based on the idea that what gets measured gets improved? Percentage of time you're actually aware of the holy name, and then on this scale, where do you think you would put yourself in terms of how much you like chanting? Kṛṣṇa is a person. It's not one thing. It's the thing. Kṛṣṇa is a person. He's the Supreme Person. And just know that His senses are perfect, and because His senses are perfect, He knows exactly what your sincerity is. And He's not like an ordinary person who may know or may not know—He knows. And you can offer yourself to Kṛṣṇa sincerely at any time, and the best way to stay connected with Him is through the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra, because it follows the Guru Paramparā. It's the recommended process. The dosage is already set up. If you want to increase your dosage and get all the way up to 16, and stay on that medication through your life, you're going to get well, and you're going to get better than well. You're going to rise to the highest level. So everything else goes on in the material world as if mechanical. We do the best we can there. It always goes sideways, whatever you do, but The Holy Name is always there for us, and it's always perfect, and Kṛṣṇa is always perfect. So just think of Kṛṣṇa, and remember, He's a person, always a person. He's got unlimited energies, and He comes to us directly in person, in His holy name. No diminishment of His absolute personality, fully present in His holy name and keep the transcendental vibration going. So if we have to give attention to our practice. The word attention, actually one of the meanings is special care. You have to give special care to your practice of chanting Japa, keep going if possible. And that also means that is the word attention. It has the word 10 in it, which means to stretch, go. You have to stretch, stretch towards the holy name. That's what tension means. If you're slumping away from it with your mind or your body or your intentions altogether, then you lose the full power of The Holy Name. So high practice of Jopa. And the way we're advancing is to be giving special care and stretching towards the name, if you could notice yourself, your mind stretching towards hearing the name and so forth, then we're avoiding japa fade, going in the right direction. And as within any practice, we're either improving or getting worse. There's no staying the same. So we have to be intentionally getting better every day. And if we try even by tiny degrees, even if it's a molecule of improvement every day, then we're going in the right direction. As soon as we stop doing that, then we're going the other way, and we get dragged into the whirlpool of material existence unlimited desires, and anxieties. So be determined. The message is to make Japa better every day. Don't be satisfied with the status quo. Avoid The Jarāsandha Effect & Take The Responsibility to Chant | HG Vaiśeṣika Dāsa | 22 Jan 2022

Japa is one of those times because we have to self-examine and see how we're chanting. There are plenty of opportunities to examine ourselves in chanting japa, just to see what is the intensity, are we finishing at an appropriate time, and so forth. By taking that responsibility then, we can develop spiritual strength. There are various obstacles to that. One of them is if we are lending our ear to those who don't consider it very important, then we can be dissuaded from taking it seriously. That's why Caitanya Mahāprabhu said that we have to regularly hear about the importance of completing the practice in order to stay serious about it. There's a phenomenon which I like to call 'The Jarāsandha effect', that goes like this: Just like Jarāsandha came to Mathurā and was totally defeated by Kṛṣṇa and Balārama. His armies were slaughtered 17 times, rivers of blood were flowing, every one of his soldiers was annihilated. But every time he walked away, Jarāsandha's ministers told him that his losing the battle was a fluke and he should go back and try again. So the same thing happens. These same kinds of words come in a regular stream from those who are attached to the material world that just keep saying, "You'll be victorious next time." We have to constantly hear the sambandha-jñāna from Kṛṣṇain the Bhagavad-gītā, who assures us that this material world is not our home and that there's only one shelter—take shelter of Kṛṣṇa. That's why He says in the Gītā, "sarva-dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja," just categorically forget the material world as a place of shelter and take shelter in Me. So it's our responsibility to take advantage of Japa, its self-examination. It's also our duty to constantly hear about the importance of it so that we can remain in a determined state of mind to complete our 16 rounds, a minimum 16 rounds - every day. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ (USA only) https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose #makejapagreatagain #mantrameditation
