Bloody Elbow fight experts, Eddie Mercado & Mookie Alexander, are here to breakdown the UFC 272: ‘Covington vs. Masvidal' PPV event, from Vegas. The guys have hot takes, possible next fights, as well as reactions to the overall event. The UFC showcased the #6 ranked ‘BMF Champ', Jorge Masvidal, in a Welterweight grudge match with former friend, Colby “Chao”s Covington. Masvidal formerly competed with Bellator, Strikeforce, Shark Fights & World Victory Road during his 18 years as a professional mixed martial artist. He still holds the record for the fastest KO in UFC history, at just five seconds. His foe, Covington, holds the distinction of being the former Interim UFC Welterweight Champion and is seated in the #1 slot in the divisional rankings. Meanwhile, the co-main event featured a replacement match. Instead of RDA vs Rafael Fiziev, we received former UFC Lightweight Champ Rafael dos Anjos vs . Renato Moicano. Moicano is the former interim Jungle Fight Featherweight Champ. He has two wins and a loss under his belt after his battle with COVID-19 this past November and December. The last minute bout he accepted on five days notice, was contested at a catchweight of 160 lbs. Also on the PPV card, we had a FW match between fight veteran, Edson ‘Junior' Barboza & the undefeated up-and-comer, Bryce ‘Thug Nasty' Mitchell, who entered the Octagon on a 5-fight win streak. We also had an exciting matchup between MWs, Kevin ‘Trailblazer' Holland & Alex ‘Cowboy' Oliveira. We start off the show discussing all of the biggest stories in MMA this week, including Karo Parisyan's return to the UFC, Todd Duffee's firing, and the financial troubles of Japanese promotions K-1 and Dream. Then we run down the matches on the upcoming Ultimate Fight Night 22:  Marquardt vs. Palhares, and the Shark Fights 13 cards.   Finally, we end the show with a quick look at the upcoming Ultimate Fighter season, and some reader mail.                 

This week's show starts with a rundown of last weekend's Strikeforce Challengers 9 card, and we mostly talk about the women's title fight from that show.  Then we finally have a new UFC card to discuss, with UFC on Versus 2 coming up on August 1st.  In addition, there's a mixed bag of stuff including great soundbites from Chael Sonnen and James Toney, pro wrestling's influence on MMA, and the unfortunately named Shark Fights promotion.
