Starting with a Criminal Minds cast panel, Paul walked all over the festival map to get to everything he wanted to see and do. A chance to interview Bridget Regan and the creators of a proof-of-concept pilot, Savage, popped up and after watching the pilot competition, he made it in time. From there, he went to the Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed red carpet, screening and panel. Although that sounds like a lot, Paul still had two more panels to go: The Everybody Still Loves Raymond writer’s room panel with Phil Rosenthal and Ray Romano and the big bash of the evening with Bill Lawrence and Friends. Credit: Jasper Savage/Prime. Copyright: © Amazon Content Services LLC. Description: Karl Urban (Billy Butcher) Seven years of blood, corporate satire, and unhinged superhero mayhem have all come down to this. Cat and Paul are back for the ultimate deep-dive into the series finale of The Boys, Season 5, Episode 8: “Blood and Bone.” The show completely threw out the comic books and gave us a beautifully tragic, poetic, and utterly jaw-dropping final hour. We are breaking down every single massive payoff: The Undercard Chaos: We kick things off with the emotional whiplash of Frenchie’s wild last will and testament, followed by Kimiko blasting Sister Sage into a permanent, Orlando-bound “dimwit”. Plus, we celebrate the absolute poetic justice of MM weaponizing a BDSM ball gag against Oh Father and Starlight feeding The Deep to an octopus bent on avenging Ambrosius. The Oval Office Execution: Homelander's “Messiah” tour comes to a pathetic, weeping halt. We dissect the incredible moment Kimiko depowers him and Butcher delivers the ultimate closure—using a bloody crowbar to end the god-king on live television, echoing the very first supe encounter from the pilot. The Final Stand: The real tragedy wasn’t Homelander; it was the final confrontation between Hughie and a deeply broken Butcher over a global virus threat. We break down Hughie’s devastating choice to pull the trigger to save the world, proving that it really does just hurt to be human. The Bittersweet Epilogue: From MM taking in Ryan to Kimiko's healing trip to France, we unpack where the survivors land. Most importantly, we dive into the beautiful full-circle pilot echoes of Hughie and Annie running a quiet A/V store, waiting on a baby girl named Robin, while “Piano Man” brings the curtain down. The Ultimate Question: In the end, did the show argue that Butcher was just as dangerous as Homelander, or did Hughie's final act break the cycle of violence for good? Credit: Courtesy of Prime. Copyright: © Amazon Content Services LLC. Description: Erin Moriarty (Annie January / Starlight) The laws of nature just broke, and the heroes are officially out of cards. This week, we are diving into the absolute devastation of The Boys Season 5, Episode 6: “Though the Heavens Fall”. If you thought the boys had a fighting chance, this hour completely flipped the board. We are breaking down: The Legend's Chilling Truth: Paul Reiser returns as a ghost of Vought past to deliver the one thing Homelander never hears: the unvarnished, terrifying truth. We debate why Homelander actually let him live—is it newfound god-like mercy, or rare respect? The Seven’s Skeleton Crew: The Deep and Noir II take pettiness to a literal apocalyptic level with a pipeline massacre. We unpack the shocking, bloody end of their rivalry and what it means now that Homelander's inner circle is down to absolute narcissists. Sage’s Logic Fails: Sister Sage tried to play the ultimate game of chess using Stormfront’s legacy. We break down how she completely miscalculated Soldier Boy's twisted sense of family—and the fallout of Homelander discovering her betrayal. The Death of Hope: The climax that changed everything. Homelander takes the V1, the virus is now a useless paperweight, and Butcher is left with only one word: “Run.” The Question of the Week: Now that the Apotheosis is complete and Homelander is truly an immortal god, is there anything left in this universe that can actually hurt him? #TheBoys #Homelander #SoldierBoy #SisterSage #TheSeven #PodcastLife MORE IN THIS SERIES Season 5 1+2 | 3 | 4 | 5 Season 4 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 Season 3 1+2+3 Pt 1 | 1+2+3 Pt 2 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 Season 2 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 Follow the show PRIME VIDEO | FACEBOOK | Twitter Follow the Hosts PAUL | CAT This podcast was recorded in Pod Clubhouse Studios and edited by Paul Daley.

Description: Daveed Diggs (Oh Father) The board has been completely flipped, and The Boys just delivered one of the most devastating penultimate episodes in TV history. This week, Cat and Paul are diving straight into the absolute madness and heartbreak of Season 5, Episode 7: “The Frenchman, the Female, and the Man Called Mother’s Milk.” If you thought things couldn’t get any darker before the finale, this hour proved us all wrong. We're breaking down: The Blasphemous Coup: Homelander officially trades corporate PR for a literal divinity complex. From Daveed Diggs’ wild, far-right “Messiah” musical number to a shocking, skull-crushing Oval Office execution that leaves Ashley as a completely fractured puppet POTUS, the stakes have officially gone cosmic. The Gen V Disappointment: Marie Moreau and Jordan Li finally return, but a dejected, cynical Starlight isn’t having it. We break down that brutal reality check and Marie throwing Annie’s own words right back in her face. The Billy Joel Defense: Deep-diving into the psychological trap sprung by the new psychic Supe, Synapse. Find out how Butcher uses his top 10 Billy Joel songs to fight off a mental invasion and a haunting confrontation with the ghost of Joe Kessler. The Tragedy at the School: The heart of the team is gone. We unpack the beautifully bizarre interaction between Frenchie and a low-IQ Sister Sage , followed by the unthinkable: the radioactive chamber’s total failure against Homelander and Frenchie’s devastating, unceremonious death. The Question of the Week: With the radioactive chamber failing to even tickle a V1-infused Homelander, and Frenchie officially gone, is there any physical way left to stop a god?

This week, we're breaking down The Boys Season 5, Episode 5: “One Shots.” This wasn't just a run-of-the-mill episode; it had way more than usual going on. We're diving into: The “Supernatural” Reunion: We finally got the trio on screen! We discuss the Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins cameos—and the absolute carnage Soldier Boy left in his wake. Is anyone a “hero” if they're using Seth Rogen as a human shield? The Apotheosis is Real: [Co-Host Name] takes a massive victory lap this week. We break down Homelander's transition from a corporate puppet to a literal deity. If he doesn't need fans anymore, what does that mean for the rest of humanity? Sage's Nihilism: We deep-dive into Sister Sage's “Time Enough at Last” bunker plan. Is she the ultimate villain, or just the only person in the room who's actually bored with the apocalypse? Through Terror's Eyes: Why the “dog's eye view” of The Boys might be the most honest perspective we've ever had on Butcher's crumbling mental state. In a small, bunker-like laboratory in the East Bay hills, Alexander “Sasha” Shulgin created some of the world's most powerful psychedelic drugs. Astonishingly, he didn't try to hide his activities. On the contrary, Sasha published instruction manuals on how to make his mind-expanding compounds, and his farm in Lafayette became a mecca for scientists, therapists, artists, and others who were drawn into his world of pharmacological experimentation. Along with his wife, Ann, Sasha was a pioneer who helped lay the groundwork for the therapeutic use and decriminalization of psychoactive drugs that is unfolding today. Although Sasha and Ann both passed away, their legacy is being carried on at the Shulgin Farm, which continues to be a space for psychedelic research, educational gatherings, and other activities. On May 2, the Shulgin Foundation will be launching “MDMA: From Molecule to Movement” at the Berkeley Alembic, an exhibit tracing the history of Shulgin's influence in synthesizing and spreading the drug now known widely as “molly.” This episode features interviews with Wendy Tucker, chair of the Shulgin Foundation, Paul Daley, co-founder of the Alexander Shulgin Research Institute, and Shulgin Foundation director Megan Bowers. But Vikki Petraitis wasn't convinced. The official line didn't explain all the evidence, and it certainly didn't seem like the behaviour of a mother with two small boys. Fascinated by both the case and the bias it revealed in investigators, Petraitis wrote her first true-crime book about the murder, with Paul Daley, and decades later made a podcast on the case. Both brought new evidence and testimony to light, and asked questions that were not asked at the time. To mark the fortieth anniversary of Beth's murder and Vivienne's vanishing, Petraitis brings together all her discoveries and true-crime experience in a brilliant forensic investigation into what happened all those years ago, and why. In this episode Gregory Dobbs chats to Vikki Petraitis about why she has returned to this forty-year-old cold case, about her insights into the Philip island community, and why she is not convinced that the police investigation had reached a reasonable conclusion.

In today's episode, a conversation with respected journalist and acclaimed novelist Paul Daley, author of a new book, The Leap. The Leap is an outback town fuelled by fear, churning with corruption, prejudice and misogyny – and blighted by its inescapable history of frontier violence. Into this nightmarish morass falters traumatised British diplomat, Benedict Fotheringham-Gaskill. He's on his first Australian mission, one seemingly straightforward enough – until he arrives in The Leap to battle a town conspiring against him.

You can do more then you can imagine in a short amount of time....On this episode we are looking at even more Emmy nominated stuff as we go behind the scenes on one of the bigger and bolder episodes of a sitcom that this critic has ever seen.  It's time for 'The Righteous Gemstones'.In Season 4, Episode 1, "Prelude" takes us to the height of the civil war where Elijah Gemstone (Bradley Cooper) receives a divine wake up call. It's only 39 minutes long, but it's as busy and loaded as a feature film and a big part of that is cinematographer Paul Daley as this is a big and loud (and Emmy Nominated) episode. We got to talk to Paul about coming on to the job, the freedom he had to give this a big and bold feel while shooting mostly out in the wilderness and so very much more....Catch up on 'The Righteous Gemstones; on Crave up here in Canada.

Shogun Season 1 Episode 9 "Crimson Sky". Image by F/X. Copyright 2024. In this week's exploration of F/X's "Shogun," we delve into "Crimson Sky," the ninth episode of the season that unexpectedly shifts from the anticipated military theme to a more personal sacrifice. The title, previously hinted at as a strategic operation, takes on new depth as we witness Mariko's profound sacrifice for Lord Toranaga. This poignant moment opens up a rich field of discussion about loyalty, duty, and the hidden meanings within the show. Paul, with his keen insights into the source material, highlights the deviations and parallels between the episode and James Clavell's original work, adding a layer of depth to our understanding. Meanwhile, Gabby and Inez energize the conversation with their analysis of the episode's symbolism, particularly focusing on the poetic expressions delivered by Mariko, which may hint at broader themes of destiny and honor. The trio's dynamic discussion not only dissects the narrative twists of the episode but also speculates on the title's implications, exploring whether "Crimson Sky" refers to the bloodshed of sacrifice or a metaphorical dawn of new beginnings.
