It stars Brad Pitt, Christoph Waltz, Michael Fassbender, Eli Roth, Diane Kruger, Daniel Brühl, Til Schweiger and Mélanie Laurent.Inglourious Basterds is a firm favorite with both the hosts and Christopher Waltz's Hans Landa remains one of their favorite villains. Waltz's Handa has gone down in movie history as one of the most iconic characters, sweeping all the acting awards that year. Tune into the episode, where the hosts tell you why this movie is rewatchable even after so many years and cannot stop mentioning Waltz/Handa every 5 minutes of the episode - because every favorite scene and dialogue is incomplete without Waltz's reference. Synopsis: In Nazi-oc cupied France during World War II, a plan to assassinate Nazi leaders by a group of Jewish U.S. soldiers known as the Inglorious Basterds led by Lieutenant Aldo Raine played by Brad Pitt coincides with theatre owner Shosanna Dreyfus's vengeful plans for the same. Melanie Laurent plays Shossana who had witnessed the slaughter of her family by Colonel Hans Landa played by Christoph Waltz. As the relentless executioners advance and the conspiring young girl's plans are set in motion, their paths will cross for a fateful evening that will shake the very annals of history.Favourite Scenes: Opening Scene - Waltz sends a chill down your spine. Hands down one of the best opening scenes in movie historyStrudel scene : Waltz meets Shosanna. This scene gave rise to many theories - Did Handa recognize Shosanna or not? Once upon a time in… the Midnight Myth Podcast studio, Derek and Laurel took on their first study of Quentin Tarantino with his 2009 masterpiece Inglourious Basterds. This alternate history of World War 2 paints a bloody picture of power and revenge in Nazi-occupied France. We follow two independent assassination plots on Hitler and the German high command, which converge, of all places, in a cinema. In this episode, Derek & Laurel interpret Inglourious Basterds as, by turns, a fairy tale, a Western, and a classical or Elizabethan revenge drama. We’ll discuss why Seneca the Younger was Ancient Rome’s version of Quentin Tarantino. We'll learn why QT likened Shosanna to Joan of Arc. We’ll dig into the ethical quandaries presented by this movie’s very existence. We’ll really put the music into “Enzo Gorlomi.” And we’ll barely scratch the surface. Chapter 1- The boy’s initial thoughts whilst watching the opening scene for the first time; reflections on how it gets better every time you see it, milk talk, eye protection for Nazis, what if Mel Gibson was cast as Landa, and wouldn’t you freak out more if a squirrel was in your house rather than a rat? Chapter 2- Is this one of Brad Pitt’s best or worst performances, the similarities between Landa and Aldo, the amazing casting of a weasel greasy haired looking Hitler, mastering the Boston accent by using the F-word, and John explains what Brad Pitt was snorting. Welcome to another episode of 'The Behind The Scenes Show' with Eric Fell and Shaun Stewart. This week we take at three movies that premiered at the Cannes International Film Festival. First its Jim Carrey's 'A Christmas Carol', followed by a look at 'Agora' and Quentin Tarantinos 'Inglourious Basterds'. Charles Dickens' timeless tale of an old miser who must face Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet-to-Come, as they help to bring kindness to his otherwise cold heart. The Ghosts remind him of the man he used to be, the hard truth of what the world is today, and what will happen if he does not strive to be a better man. Set around Christmas, the most joyous day of the year, Scrooge realizes the sharp contrast of his own personality. Jim Carrey plays four separate roles in this updated version of A Christmas Carol. Carrey portrays Scrooge, as well as the three ghosts (Past, Present, and Yet-to-Come). His dynamic character roles keep the four characters as diverse as being played by four actors. Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future trilogy) has his chance to dabble in telling a story through the windows of time, as he directs the long-awaited remake. In theaters Nov. 6, 2009. A historical drama set in Roman Egypt, concerning a slave who turns to the rising tide of Christianity in the hopes of pursuing freedom while also falling in love with his master, the famous female philosophy professor and atheist Hypatia of Alexandria. Directed by Alejandro Amenábar and starringRachel Weisz and Max Minghella Inglourious Basterds begins in German-occupied France, where Shosanna Dreyfus (Mélanie Laurent) witnesses the execution of her family at the hand of Nazi Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz). Shosanna narrowly escapes and flees to Paris, where she forges a new identity as the owner and operator of a cinema. Elsewhere in Europe, Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) organizes a group of Jewish soldiers to engage in targeted acts of retribution. Hello MovieSetters and welcome to our all-Cannes edition of The Behind the Scenes Show with Eric Fell and Shaun Stewart. This webisode we are looking at some of the different movies that are being focused on in Cannes. Specifically we are going to talk about the new Pixar movie 'UP' followed by a look at Quentin Tarantino's 'Inglourious Basterds' and the new movie 'Taking Woodstock'.First off we look at 'UP' which is the opening film for the Cannes International Film Festival. Its the first time an animated motion picture has been the opening film for the prestigious festival so its quite an honor. By tying thousands of balloon to his home, 78-year-old Carl Fredricksen sets out to fulfill his lifelong dream to see the wilds of South America. Right after lifting off, however, he learns he isn't alone on his journey, since Russell, a wilderness explorer 70 years his junior, has inadvertently become a stowaway on the trip.'Inglourious Basterds' begins in German-occupied France, where Shosanna Dreyfus (Mélanie Laurent) witnesses the execution of her family at the hand of Nazi Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz). Shosanna narrowly escapes and flees to Paris, where she forges a new identity as the owner and operator of a cinema. Fates converge under a cinema marquee, where Shosanna is poised to carry out a revenge plan of her own..."Taking Woodstock" is a 1969-set story, based on Elliot Tiber's memoir, about a man, Elliot Tiber (Demetri Martin), who inadvertently played a role in making the Woodstock Music and Arts Festival into the famed happening it was. Working as an interior designer in Greenwich Village during culturally and politically exciting times, Mr. Tiber felt empowered by the gay rights movement. But he was also still staked to the family business - a Catskills motel. Upon hearing that a planned concert had lost its permit from the neighboring town of Wallkill, NY, Mr. Tiber called producer Michael Lang (Jonathan Groff) at Woodstock Ventures to offer his family's motel, the El Monaco, to the promoters. Soon the Woodstock staff was moving into the El Monaco; half a million people were on their way to Mr. Tiber's neighbor's Max Yasgur's (Eugene Levy) farm in White Lake, NY; and Mr. Tiber found himself swept up in a generation-defining experience that would change his life, and American culture, forever.Be sure to check out more Behind the Scenes as well as Previous Episodes!Subscribe to behind the Scenes in iTunes or by Email
