“Far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by failing to pray for you.” — 1 Samuel 12:23 When I was in my twenties and going through some hard times, I asked my mother to pray for me. She said, “Do you mean, in addition to the prayers that began before your birth and have not ceased to this day?” I hadn't realized that my mom prayed so fervently for me, and that was humbling.Samuel prayed persistently for God's people, and we do well to follow that example. Are you a persistent and fervent pray-er? I can't think of anything we can do that is more pleasing to God and useful to others than prayer.Silent, or internal, prayer is a miracle brought about by the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Through the voice of the Spirit, who comes to live within us, our thoughts are heard by the triune God. We can think with and talk to God about anything, at any time, and in any place. Through our thoughts we can connect with the most powerful being in the universe, who loves us more than any other. We don't even need an introduction; God already knows us intimately. If you are looking for a dialogue with God, turn to Scripture, read a few verses, and pray whatever comes to mind. Any fears, worries, and wrongs you have done can be laid at God's feet and forgotten.Samuel and my mother were fervent and faithful pray-ers. Knowing that God loves us so much, how can we not pray? O God, we come to you in prayer through the work of your Spirit in us. We know that you hear us. Guide us to pray faithfully. Please fill us with your grace and peace each day. Amen.

When life backs you into a corner, prayer can start to feel like the hardest thing to keep doing. The tears run dry, the breakthrough doesn't come, and you catch yourself thinking, Why should I even keep believing? Today's Music Monday on Starting Right with Danny Mack meets that moment head-on with Matthew West's powerful song “Don't Stop Praying” and a short, practical reminder of what persistent prayer is really for.We walk through lyrics that ask the questions many of us are afraid to say out loud: What's your impossible? What feels hopeless? What has you barely hanging on? Then we turn to Scripture for clarity and comfort. The Bible never guarantees instant answers, even when we're praying for good things. But it does call us to stay connected. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says to never stop praying, and that isn't a command to perform, it's an invitation to remain in relationship with Jesus when timing doesn't make sense. We also talk about the difference between treating prayer like a transaction and living it as a relationship. Yes, God tells us to bring our needs. Matthew 7:7-8 says to keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking. At the same time, God's goal is deeper than quick fixes. He wants our trust, our attention, and our willingness to listen as much as we speak. If you're carrying sickness, family stress, financial pressure, or work anxiety, this is a five-minute reset toward hope and steady faith. Here is the YouTube link to today's song.   https://youtu.be/8r0eA49MZ0w?si=OyZ_sS3kyhz3Xkpl   We would love to hear your comments. Psalm 104 Day 2 — God Hasn't Forgotten Your Dreams Psalm 104:5-9 “You fixed the earth on its foundation, so it can never be shaken. The deeps covered it like a garment; Above the mountains stood the waters. At your rebuke, they took flight; at the sound of your thunder, they fled. They rushed up the mountains, down the valleys to the place you had fixed for them. You set a limit they cannot pass; never again will they cover the earth.” Today, we pick up where we left off with Psalm 104. The verse starts by reminding us that the Lord fixed the Earth. He created all things, and He created the Earth on its foundation so it can never be shaken. That can be pretty reassuring if we let it. If we really let that sink in, the Lord has fixed the earth on its foundation so it can never be shaken. Some days, the earth seems like it is falling apart. It is good to be reassured that God is in control and that He won't allow the world to be shaken. Next, it says, “The deep covered it like a garment; Above the mountains stood the water. This sounds like it refers to the flood. When Noah was living, the people of God had turned away from Him. Genesis 6:5-8 says, “Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. The Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. The Lord said, “I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, from man to animals to creeping things and to birds of the sky; for I am sorry that I have made them.” But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. Next, it says, “At your rebuke, they took flight; at the sound of your thunder, they fled. They rushed up the mountains, down the valleys to the place you had fixed for them. This narrative of the Lord's control over the water can invoke a sense of awe in us, reminding us of His power and sovereignty. The Lord created the whole universe with his words. When we stop to think about that, it is amazing. The waters fled at the Lord's rebuke. How many of us can say that we speak to nature, and it listens to us? Today's verse ends with, “You set a limit they cannot pass; never again will they cover the earth.” Today's verse shows us how powerful God is and that He controls all nature. God decides where the water will go and where it will not go. It is amazing how He made the oceans, rivers, and lakes. He contained the water where He wanted it. At one point, there was water everywhere. In Genesis 1:9-10, God said, “Let the waters under the sky be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so. God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good.” The last line of this verse also reminds us of God's promise to us: “Never again will they cover the earth.” God made this covenant with us after He flooded the Earth. He promised He would not do that again, and He gave us a rainbow as a sign of that covenant. Rainbows are still a sign of that covenant. Sometimes, God will give us a rainbow when we are struggling to believe something will really happen. I remember being in a car with some of my girlfriends once, and we were talking about how one of them really wanted to get married and have children, but it hadn't happened yet. We talked about how hard it is to keep hoping for something when you have waited too long and still don't see any signs of it on the horizon. All of a sudden, there was a beautifully full rainbow right ahead of us in the sky. We know that was God reassuring her that He knows her hopes and dreams and He will fulfill them. My friend is getting married in four days! God is so good! God can do the same for your hopes and dreams. I know hope is hard, especially if you have been waiting a long time. I know it can feel like it will never happen. I can feel like He has forgotten about you. You can be tempted to give up, hoping for what you want, and figure it just wasn't God's plan for you. I want to encourage you not to give up. I want to encourage you to keep hoping, even when it is hard and even when you feel like there is no point. God rewards persistence. He tells us this through several stories in the Bible. God wants us to keep asking. I am not sure why some things take a long time, and others happen right away. I am not sure why it seems like God is ignoring us at times. I do know that is not true. God is never ignoring us. He is always right there by our side. His attention is always aimed directly at us. The problem is that His timing is not our timing, and that sucks! We feel we know what we want, and we even are pretty sure our timing is great. However, the Lord can see things we can't see, and if we get what we want before we are ready, it won't be as good. My friend waited on God's timing and has now found the man of her dreams. God brought her a guy who gets her. They have a similar sense of humor, they both love dogs, and they are so cute together. Does it stink that she had to wait this long to meet him? Yes. Does God have a plan that is bigger than our plan? Yes. My friend did not give up on her hopes and dreams, and I hope you won't either, even if it seems impossible. Even if it seems like you missed your chance or you missed your window, if you want it, keep praying for it. God is a way maker. He can find a way where there is no way. As Matthew West would say in his new song, “Don't Stop Praying!” Dear Heavenly Father, I ask you to bless everyone listening to this episode. Lord, we are in awe of your majesty. We are in awe of how you speak commands over the earth, and it listens. We are in awe of keeping the water contained where you want it. Lord, you are incredible. I love looking at this Psalm to see your majesty on display. Thank you for your covenant with us, Lord. Thank you for reminding us of that covenant when we need it. Lord, we ask that you help us not to give up hope on our hopes and dreams. We ask that you help fortify us in faith that hope in you will not disappoint. We love you, Lord, and we ask all of this in accordance with your will and in Jesus's holy name, Amen. Thank you so much for joining me on this journey to walk boldly with Jesus. If you sat down for an hour today and only said 'Jesus Jesus Jesus Jesus' or 'Love Love Love'... if you really stayed with it... if you let the sound takeover... if you only heard the sound and not thoughts about the past and the future and the to-do list and what needs prayer etc etc... if all you heard was JESUS JESUS JESUS (and felt LOVE LOVE LOVE)... and didn't give in to the temptation of reaching for that phone or going for a snack... you'd very quickly realize that you aren't the one chanting/calling/praying. You are aware of the one that is chanting 'Jesus'. You stand apart. You will realize you are that lamp set on a stand. You are Light aware of all that ruckus lol. When that body is chanting, it has taken off. It's no longer a part of the old story, the old scene... the re-run. It broke character. You broke with its character, and it broke character lol. It's off script, and now a new one is being rushed in. This isn't practice. It's a play. And you left the stage. And it's about to get GoOD. The fields are... gold.xxp.s. the less of 'you' there is, the more 'practice' seems to happen, the more tongues seem to happen, the more all of it continues without the one who was doing it transactionally.

At What Point Should I Just Stop Praying? | Christ For YouText: Matthew 15:21–28 | Lent 2 (Historic One-Year Lectionary)What do you do when nothing changes, when your prayers go unanswered? When God feels silent, do you assume silence means “no”? Do you quit hoping and call it “being reasonable”?This Gospel puts you in the middle: a Canaanite woman cries for mercy, and Jesus does not answer her a word. The Law exposes us. We don't just want answers, we want control. We want God on our timeline, and when He delays, we start translating delay into indifference. But faith refuses to turn silence into a verdict. She comes closer, kneels, and prays, “Lord, help me.” She confesses she deserves nothing and still clings to Christ: “Even the dogs eat the crumbs.” Even “unanswered” prayers are still heard by God. His silence is not His absence. Then the Gospel: look to Jesus in Gethsemane. The Father does not remove the cup. The answer is the cross, for you. Jesus bears the forsakenness you deserve so you can pray “Our Father” with confidence. All God's promises find their “Yes” in Him (2 Corinthians 1:20). So stay at Jesus' feet, and keep praying.Subscribe & Share:Spotify: Christ For YouPortuguês: Cristo Para VocêWebsite: ZionWG.orgLooking for a Lutheran Church near you?Support the preaching of God's Word

Stop believing the "convenient lie" that the market is the problem when the issue is a lack of strategy. The truth about mortgages reveals a shift in how the economic machine works. It is easy to believe a lie when things feel difficult, but the reality is that many agents simply do not know how to price property in today's climate. In this episode, we break down why the truth about mortgages is tied to a money supply issue that most professionals fail to understand. Success in real estate investing or sales today requires a mature acknowledgment of the facts regarding debt and interest rates.✅ Understanding the inflation impact on real estate is critical when $55 smoothies become the new norm and the money supply remains overextended. ✅ We examine Corelogic's revised housing market forecast through the lens of private equity buyouts and major industry shifts. ✅ Discover how zillow is taking over the real estate by indexing data and moving into the lead generation game while agents avoid prospecting. ✅ Learn how to succeed in real estate your first year or your tenth by moving away from "bow and arrow" tactics like just sitting in open houses. ✅ High-level real estate agent coaching is now a requirement to navigate the compression of buyer agent commission and shifting negotiation rules. ✅ Stop praying for a return to 2% rates and find out how to get more listings by becoming a dominant agent who understands the current economic reality. The probability of rates dropping significantly in the next 18 months is zero, so you must accept the truth about mortgages and adapt your business model to the 4 million transactions actually happening. From prayer mindset to platform builder: Why Africa's wealth crisis isn't about capital or religion - it's about climbing the five-step ladder from problem-solver to investor - and the brutal truth about delayed gratification, Facebook's ecosystem strategy, and the instant gratification culture that keeps African youth trapped in betting schemes while Dangote controls entire value chains. In this explosive episode of Konnected Minds, Nigerian personal finance coach and pan-African thought leader NTO dismantles the dangerous prayer-for-money fantasy keeping African youth trapped in religious delegation cycles while real wealth gets built by those who solve problems, control distribution, build platforms, and become investors. This isn't motivational money talk from Instagram gurus - it's a systematic breakdown of why money flows to people who climb the wealth ladder strategically, why Facebook went from solving a connection problem to owning the entire value chain and becoming a platform where businesses transact, why Dangote moved from importing cement to manufacturing it and controlling distribution from production to supermarket shelves, and why Warren Buffett earns $776 million annually from Coca-Cola dividends - more than the Coca-Cola CEO's salary - because he's an investor, not an employee. Critical revelations include: • The five-step wealth ladder every billionaire climbs: (1) Solve a problem people pay for, (2) Become a distributor, (3) Control the entire value chain, (4) Build a platform/ecosystem, (5) Become an investor • Why the higher you climb the ladder, the more capital you need - you can't skip steps and expect to build a platform without first solving problems and controlling distribution • The Facebook evolution blueprint: started solving a connection problem students didn't know they had, became a distributor of connection across wider audiences, controlled the value chain by owning servers and data infrastructure, built a platform where businesses advertise and transact, now extracts value from everyone using the ecosystem • Why supermarkets are step two wealth builders - they don't own the water or clothes, they just know people need products and create distribution systems to sell solutions • The Dangote value chain domination: started importing cement to solve Nigeria's infrastructure problem, began manufacturing it locally, now owns the entire chain from production to trucks on the road to retail distribution - then replicated the model with flour, spaghetti, and sugar • Why majority of Africans are stuck at step one and two - solving problems and distributing products - while billionaires move to step three (value chain control), step four (platform building), and step five (investor status) • The platform principle: you're not just transacting, you're giving people a place to transact - like Apple's App Store where developers build apps, Apple takes commission, or Flutterwave where every payment processed generates revenue without Apple or Flutterwave creating the products • Why Elon Musk owns five businesses (SpaceX, Tesla, Neuralink, The Boring Company, and more) - because he's an investor who builds multiple businesses, not an entrepreneur stuck solving one problem forever • The Warren Buffett dividend reality: earns $776 million per year from Coca-Cola stock dividends - more than the Coca-Cola CEO's salary - because investors extract value without working in the business • Why Tony Elumelu moved from oil and gas to power to banking to hospitality - he climbed the ladder to investor status and now builds multiple businesses across sectors • The social media delayed gratification crisis: platforms sell instant gratification, making Africans think wealth is built overnight - when even Davido worked from university until now building his music empire before becoming an investor in companies like Moove • The ritual wealth trap: when someone goes from broke to successful, people assume jazz, fetish practices, or betting luck - because the culture doesn't teach the five-step ladder that explains how wealth is actually built Guest: Nosakhari Tunde-Oni (NTO)

When our Lord posed the haunting question, “When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?”, He did not pose it as a riddle, nor merely as prophecy, but as a mirror held before our hearts. It is not faith in the abstract He seeks, as if counting theological knowledge or measuring church attendance, but the kind of faith that breathes, wrestles, and walks with God when the world goes dim.It is easy enough, is it not, to believe in the light when all is bright? A child believes the sun will rise, not because he's studied astronomy, but because it always has. But the Christian faith is tested not by the sunrise but by the silence of midnight. Will we still believe when the world mocks, when prayers go unanswered, when suffering strikes without explanation?Faith is not merely assent to a creed. Fallen angels do that, and tremble. No, the faith Christ longs to find is that defiant trust—a love-soaked loyalty—that looks full in the face of suffering and still whispers, “Jesus, I trust in you.” It is the faith of Abraham climbing Mount Moriah, of Daniel kneeling before open windows, of the Virgin Mary keeping all these things in her heart. We must not mistake familiarity for faith. There are many who have grown up going to Mass each Sunday whose hearts remain untouched by the burning presence of God.So, the question returns, echoing across centuries: Will He find faith?Let us not imagine that He is asking whether we have tidy answers or triumphant ministries. He is asking whether He will find hearts—wounded perhaps, weary certainly—but still turned toward Him. Will He find men and women who have not bowed to the golden idols of ease and spectacle, who have not traded the scandal of the cross for the applause of the world? If He finds even a mustard seed of such faith, it will be enough. For faith, in the end, is not the achievement of the strong but the desperate clinging of the weak to the One who is strong. And perhaps it is precisely in our clinging, trembling and uncertain though it may be, that Christ sees the echo of His own steadfastness in the Garden of Gethsemane. Yes, He asked the question. But it is we who must answer it with our lives. And when He comes, oh glorious terror, oh splendid hope, may He find us not with explanations, but with open hands, lifted eyes, and hearts still burning. --- Help Spread the Good News --- Father Brian's homilies are shared freely thanks to generous listeners like you. Have you quit praying? Think about the last week: What happened when you saw that last horrible news article, or video on SM, or had someone at work tell you about another heart-rending tragedy. What did you do? If you're anything like me, you didn't pray. You might've shrugged, or cried a little, or made a snarky remark (also more like me than the other two)--but if you're like me, you didn't pray. Our lack of prayer shows we are forgetting just who it is we serve. We serve a God who is:A good fatherCreator God of everythingCalling us to kingdom workWe pray to see His will be done and His kingdom come. Let us not give up in doing what is good, but instead to pray without ceasing, even if it means we pray about our lack of desire to pray.Show Notes: https://bit.ly/4pS7m8R

Today's witnesses are from Matthew West's website, called popwe.org. If you don't know who Matthew West is, he is a singer, songwriter, and storyteller. This website is for the non-profit that he has with his father, a pastor. Matthew and his father encourage people to share their stories. They have various categories of stories. Today, I chose three testimonies from the Healing Category. Often, we can hear our own story in someone else's story. When we listen to others tell their story, it helps us see that we are not alone. When we hear how God worked in their situation, it gives us hope that He will work in ours, too! I pray that when you hear these testimonies, you get the faith and hope to believe that miracles can happen in your situation, too. I pray you know that God is there with you, and if you invite Him into your situation, He can help. I hope you enjoy these testimonies.Christine and Darrell Thank you for your prayers for my bestie, June, who had a four-hour brain surgery on Monday in Omaha, NE. She had no side effects. She came home Thursday afternoon. She has 100 stitches in her head and 20 staples. She is almost 80 years old.The doctors were floored by her fast recovery. I'm not! I thank God so much for popwe and all who prayed for her! She told me she cries often with her thanks to God for all He did for her and is in such gratitude for all who prayed for her. She has such appreciation for all who have shown love, caring, and concern for her.I saw her yesterday, and you would never know she had surgery unless you saw the back of her head. God is still in the miracle business. As Matthew says in his song, Don't Stop Praying, “Mountains move with just a little faith.”We just thank God for giving Juney back to us and for popwe praying!God bless you! My name is Caleb, and I wanted to share my story of healing. In 2017, I had some tests done after I had developed symptoms of lightheadedness, extremely painful headaches and a few other symptoms. One of the tests was a brain scan, where they found an anomaly. My parents and I were kept mostly in the dark with the whole situation. We only found out how serious it was when they rang us and asked for us to send the scans to one of the big hospitals in Sydney, Australia.A few weeks passed with back and forth phone calls and doctors appointments, when we found out what it was. It was a tumor, which the doctors couldn't work out if it was cancer or an abnormal growth of cells. The doctors said that surgery was an option due to the tumor possibly being cancerous. They declared the date for my operation was the 13th of December, 2017. I was 13 at the time, and scared, as I knew the risks and how quickly things could go wrong. While family, friends, and strangers prayed for me and healing, I couldn't work out why God was putting me through this.A week or two before the surgery, my mum had a fight with my nan (her mum), after my nan accused her of having no faith or trust in God. Mum did trust in God and had faith, but she was looking at the other possibility of losing me. I remember turning to mum after my nan left and said ” Yes, we must trust in God for healing, but we also must remember to account for the possibility of me not coming out of the surgery”. I know it's a bit of a grim thought, but I wanted to comfort my mum, just in case. The surgery came and went. I woke up a bit groggy the first day, but by the second, I wanted to get up and run around, go outside and try new things. But the tubes and cables attached to me stopped me. My parents bought me a Lego Technic set to build while I recovered, which was meant to last more than a day, if I rested (which I did not, despite multiple nurses and doctors asking me to). When the day finally came when the results of the tumor came back, we were relieved that it wasn't cancer. The same day the doctor came for the results, he also checked the stitching on where they operated and was astonished to find it had healed faster than he had ever seen. We were given the all clear to go home a few days later.Later that year, I developed symptoms of migraines and epilepsy, which were confirmed. It was hard with new restrictions on what I was allowed to do. I was banned from getting a license to drive, I was banned from rifle shooting with my Grandfather and wasn't to be left alone. I became very depressed, I became angry with God and blamed Him for my misfortune. I turned from God. To be honest, I believe that was the worst thing I did. My life became even darker without His light to guide me. Eventually I had thoughts of ending my own life. I went to see a counselor, but it didn't make a difference. One morning I woke up, in the middle of the first COVID lockdown, extremely depressed and went to attempt to end my life, when something stopped me. It felt like a presence, and like a voice telling me to stop. I felt like I could see again and I realized what I nearly did. I eventually worked through it, opening up more to my family about how I felt. I now pray to God, read the Bible and watch movies about God's miracles. More healing from God came after developing a relationship with Him. I was cleared to drive, and am able to help others in ways I wouldn't have, especially without this experience. During my depression, God showed me a way to create with my hands. He gave me the skills of woodworking. Every time I work with wood, I feel God giving me the wisdom and strength to help create something amazing. I have learnt a few lessons from my past- the biggest is taking one day at a time and trusting God. And I thank God for leading me to music when I needed it the most, especially Matthew West's music and Casting Crowns. Thank you for the music.Savannah: This story isn't about me, but my brother. It was August of 2020 when he was admitted to the hospital with COVID. We were told right from the beginning that it didn't look good. What followed was a long battle for his life. He needed a form of life support that had extremely limited availability. He needed so much blood. His wife and children couldn't come to see him. At one point, his heart stopped for 8.5 minutes. The only thing we could do was pray. It was nearly spring when he finally went home to his family. He's alive, and nobody can deny that a miracle has taken place. We prayed without ceasing, and God has answered our prayers.Thank you all for sharing your stories with us! It is not always easy to be vulnerable and share your story, and yet when you do, it helps so many other people.
