Tony Braunagel, Terry Wilson & Snuffy Walden Live on Game Changers With Vicki Abelson What do you get when you Zoom with three amigos from Texas who go back over 50 years? A whole lot of fun, rock stories galore, and a ton of love. The Grammy, Emmy, BMI, and Blues Award Winning trio of Snuffy Walden, Tony Braunagel, and Terry Wilson took us back to the 60s in Houston, playing at the Cellar, a strip club in Houston, Tony and Terry off with Johnny Nash and Snuffy off with Stray Dog to open for Emerson, Lake and Palmer. They all ended up in London, there was Rabbit, Paul Kossoff, Free, Back Street Crawler, Pete Townshend, and Eric Burdon for all of them, at least twice. Some great war stories along the way… there was Michael Ruff, some crashed cars and trashed hotel rooms. Tony took us through his time with Rickie Lee Jones, Bonnie Raitt, and The Blues Brothers backup band, leading to be an actor and musician on According to Jim. Snuffy getting Chaka Khan, Donna Summers and then segueing to TV, Thirty Something and The Wonder Years, his first foray in––both Emmy-winning shows that year, leading to the West Wing and his own Emmy. Terry partnering with Teresa James in music and in life, their Grammy nod, his song-writing, producing through his latest for Back Street Crawler's Terry Slesser which reunited him with Tony and Terry. They've shared many stages and sessions over the years, but it's their rock-solid friendship borne in decades-long history that sweetens their song. What a joy to be in their joy. A great time was had by all. Lucky me and you to be a fly on that wall. This episode of Big Blend Radio features T Bear, a distinctive singer, talented keyboard player, and songwriter, who discusses his music, touring, and latest solo album "The Way of the World" that's out now through Quarto Valley Records. T Bear has made his mark as a solo performer and collaborator with many iconic artists — Crosby Stills and Nash, The Blues Brothers, Robby Krieger of The Doors, Edgar Winter, Billy Squier, Cher, as well as Gene Simmons and Peter Criss of Kiss, to name just a few, while also releasing several noteworthy solo albums over the years. Most recently he has been touring the world with acclaimed blues guitarist Walter Trout as a member of Walter's band. T Bear's album "The Way of The World," was written and recorded as the world emerged from the pandemic. Produced by long-time Grammy®-winning collaborators drummer Tony Braunagel (who has performed, toured, and recorded with a host of big names over the years including Bonnie Raitt, Buddy Guy, BB King and many many others) and former Wings guitarist Laurence Juber, the horn-driven excursions of his previous album, "Fresh Bear Tracks," were stripped-down to a small group sound, recorded mostly in home studio environments. Augmenting this core trio was a selection of bass players, including the legendary Reggie McBride, Hutch Hutchinson (Bonnie Raitt) and John Mayall-alumnus Ricky Cortez. The Way of The World boasts a stunning set of twelve original songs, written and/or co-written by T Bear. Musically, the album is a stirring and infectious melodic mix of blues, rock n roll, Americana, and roots music accented by some occasional touches of tasty soul, jazz, Latin, and funk textures. We were Live with RIchard TBear. As his friend Mike FInnigan might say, what a life! We talked Belushi, his Joe Cocker, The Blues Brothers, SNL, getting blasted, Wired, Woodward, that fatal night, getting blacklisted... RIchie Havens starting him off, Allee Willis (*weeps*) and writing for Cher, getting sober, John Prine, Steve Goodman, oh hell yeah! Opening for The J Geils Band and getting balled, not in the good way, turning it around, The Doobie Brothers, Edgar Winter, the Fillmore East, Stephen Stills, Loren Gold, Alvino Bennett, Snuffy Walden, producer Tony Braunagel, who stopped by and shared a story about TBear's upcoming album, Fresh Bear Tracks, soon to be released, Baron Marx, of RCA, also on hand, related to the Marx Brothers, with the eyebrows to prove it, RIchard's beloved Nina and all she inspired... TBear played us in with his hit, Sunshine Hotel, and took us out with I'm betting another (I haven't stopped singing it), from his upcoming LP, Love to be Lonely, written with loving guidance from his Nina. This show is dedicated to her memory, and Evelyn Turk, her mother, who passed this very day. May the music soothe and heal TBear's tender, talented, soul.
