The economics of the proposed spending of two major infrastructure bills along with a debate over raising the debt celling is playing out in Congress.  There are three separate but important things happening. The first is the $1.2 trillion physical infrastructure bill that passed the Senate and waits action in the House.  The second is the broader $3.5 trillion human infrastructure bill that comprises much of President Joe Biden's political agenda. That measure is being scaled back because of concerns raised by both Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz., and Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va.  Third, Congress still needs to raise the debt celling to approve borrowing for previous spending. The deadline for that is in early December, and if Congress fails to raise the debt figure, it could create chaos in global financial markets. For now, Senate Republicans want Senate Democrats to pass that provision without their support.   How does all the proposed Congress spending impact the nation's and Arizona's economy?  In this week's episode of The Gaggle, an Arizona politics podcast, hosts Yvonne Wingett Sanchez and Ronald J. Hansen speak with Arizona State University economics professor Dennis Hoffman. He breaks down how the long term investments could impact Arizonans.

Welcome again to my monthly business update. As usual, I will focus on three areas: ghostwriting, The Daily Writer, and personal updates. Ghostwriting Here are three important lessons I'm learning: You probably need to raise your prices. Clients are not mainly concerned about your writing ability. Having the right connections makes a huge difference. The Daily Writer Let me highlight a few important things happening: DW is getting more active on Instagram with quotes, writing prompts, and other content coming soon. The Daily Writer Community is growing, with courses coming in November. The first course is "How to Build a Writing Habit." This podcast continues to grow in listenership and provide a source of content to repurpose into other forms. I have started to offer one-on-one coaching to authors to help them get their books written and self-published. (Reach out if interested. Spots are very limited.) I'm working steadily on three books of my own: The Daily Writer, How to Build a Writing Habit (lead magnet), and a secret project! Personal Update I just completed a half-marathon. I'm considering transitioning to a co-working space. I'm loving The Plot by Jean Hanff Korelitz. *** Are you looking for a community of enthusiastic, generous writers to help you build better habits and grow your writing business? Check out our Daily Writer Community.      Check out our Daily Writing Prompts, which will help you break through creative blocks, brainstorm new ideas, and get back into a state of flow. Writing prompts are a fantastic creative tool for creative writing, journaling, teaching, social media posts, podcasting, and more!     Connect with Kent:     https://DailyWriterLife.com     Facebook: https://facebook.com/kent.sanders     Instagram: https://instagram.com/kentsanders     LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/kent-sanders     Twitter: https://twitter.com/kentsanders

TESLA WILL MOVE ITS HEADQUARTERS TO TEXAS ""I'm excited to announce that we're moving our headquarters to Austin, Texas," CEO Elon Musk said Thursday during a Tesla shareholders meeting. The electric car company is currently based in Palo Alto, California, near its original headquarters in San Carlos, and its first factory, in Fremont. Musk said Thursday that there is a "limit to how big you can scale in the Bay area."" reported CNN Business: "He cited housing affordability and the long commutes it can create as hurdles for its current location, and said the Austin factory is five minutes from the airport and 15 minutes from downtown. The median home price in Palo Alto is $3.3 million" "Texas has been actively recruiting companies via its Texas Economic Development Act offering tax breaks to put new facilities in the state. Austin, with a top tech university and cultural events like South by Southwest, is a draw for tech employers." says CNBC: "Tesla has not been happy with one set of regulations in Texas at least. The state bans direct sales of cars. Instead, car companies sell their vehicles through independent, franchised dealerships there. In other states where similar laws apply Tesla has fought to change the rules or exploited some loopholes." The main point is that the global vehicle fleet stands at about 2 billion units, and not even 1% is all-electric yet." reported InsideEVs: "Assuming that 100% of new vehicles would be electric, at 100 million per year, it would still take 20 years from now to replace 2 billion vehicles. This 20-year period might be considered as the age of a vehicle until it finally goes to a junk yard." Read more: https://insideevs.com/news/539380/musk-forecast-all-cars-bevs/ CHIP AND SHIP SHORTAGES ARE THE ONLY THINGS THAT COULD STOP TESLA'S SALES GROWTH "A double-whammy of a global shortage of chips and ships is the only thing standing in the way of Tesla Inc. maintaining sales growth in excess of 50%, according to Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk. " says Fortune.com: "“We've had a fantastic year, we had record vehicle deliveries,” Musk told Tesla's annual shareholder meeting in Austin, Texas on Thursday. “It looks like we have a good chance of maintaining that. Basically, if we can get the chips we can do it. Hopefully this chip shortage will alleviate soon but I feel confident of being able to maintain something like at least above 50% for quite a while.” “One of the biggest challenges we had in Q3 was can we get enough ships,” he said. “There was a huge ship shortage.” Musk said the “significant cost pressure” in the supply chain had forced Tesla to increase car prices, at least temporarily.  " One of the reasons any company choosed to located is incentives and subsidies, on that subject: "The German government is expected to decide before the end of the year just how much state aid Tesla will receive for its battery cell unit. The company is investing about €5 billion ($5.8 billion) in the plant. The German daily Tagesspiegel reports that this unusually high investment "means that the US car manufacturer can count on German state subsidies of €1.14 billion."" Thousands of people were brought in by special shuttle buses, with long queues forming at the Gruenheide site of the US electric vehicle maker's first European factory." reported Yahoo! News: "Demonstrators were already on the scene on Saturday morning, with a few people bearing signs like "Stop Tesla" and "water and forest aren't for private profit" gathered around 100 metres (yards) from the site.  On the same 300-hectare plot, Musk also plans to build "the world's biggest battery factory". And the site will equally boast the "world's largest die-casting machine", said Ferdinand Dudenhoeffer, director of the Center for Automotive Research in Germany. In the event that the factory is not approved, the carmaker will be compelled to dismantle the entire works at its own cost. Despite the country's reputation for efficiency, major infrastructure projects are often slowed down by excess bureaucracy. Berlin's new international airport opened in October 2020, eight years later than first planned." And what did the German press have to say? "In guided tours lasting an hour and a half each, local residents were able to watch the whole production process involved in making a Tesla electric car such as the Model Y." saus DW.com: "People took their time to see what was going on in the stamping and casting units and later in the paint shop and assembly and quality control sections of the huge plant. Wherever questions arose, Tesla employees were on hand to answer them. Visitors were told that 80% of the workforce will be from Germany and 20% from 50 other countries. Also of some interest: 80% of all parts used in the Grünheide plant will come from European suppliers." That concerns batteries, automotive chips, and more. As Elon put it at one point, no matter how many more vehicle models the company was selling, it wouldn't be able to deliver more units this year — the constraint is supplies, not demand." writes Zach at Clean Technica: "With that in mind, and due to how many batteries and chips the Semi needs, it is being delayed until these supply chains ramp up, which is expected to be in 2023 at the moment. Similarly, the Tesla Cybertruck is delayed until the end of 2022 for all the same reasons. " Elon Musk said: "“I think most likely what we'll see is Cybertruck start production in the next year, and then reach volume production in 2023. And, hopefully, we can also be producing the Semi and the new Roadster in ‘23 as well. So, we should be through our severe supply chain shortages in ‘23. I'm optimistic that that will be the case.”" He also said the release date of the new Roadster is likely 2023. However, Tesla didn't release an adapter that connected to its proprietary charger to convert CCS charging stations to work with its vehicles." says SlashGear: "Tesla's proprietary charging connector is used for vehicles sold in North America and some other markets. With a different standard plug and the lack of a CCS adapter, some owners in North America were unable to use third-party charging networks based on the CCS standard. According to the email sent out to owners in South Korea, the CCS Combo 1 adapter can be used with the Model 3 and Model Y. It won't be usable for owners of the Model S and Model X. The most important of which is Google Maps, as it has recently replaced the Android Auto app with its new Driving Mode." writes T3: "The most recent Google Map update is aimed specifically at Android Automotive users and is designed to support thermal battery management for electric vehicles. It works by using information related to the location of the vehicle, the location of the charging station, and the time left until you reach the charge point. Yes, that was the sound of a toilet flushing and more on today's CrossPolitic Daily News Brief. This is Toby Sumpter. Today is Tuesday, October 5, 2021. Facebook, Instagram Down https://blog.cloudflare.com/october-2021-facebook-outage/ Facebook and its affiliated services WhatsApp and Instagram all went down on Monday for almost five hours. Their DNS names stopped resolving, and their infrastructure IPs were unreachable. It was as if someone had "pulled the cables" from their data centers all at once and disconnected them from the Internet. How's that even possible? Meet BGP BGP stands for Border Gateway Protocol. It's a mechanism to exchange routing information between autonomous systems (AS) on the Internet. The big routers that make the Internet work have huge, constantly updated lists of the possible routes that can be used to deliver every network packet to their final destinations. Without BGP, the Internet routers wouldn't know what to do, and the Internet wouldn't work. The Internet is literally a network of networks, and it's bound together by BGP. BGP allows one network (say Facebook) to advertise its presence to other networks that form the Internet. As we write Facebook is not advertising its presence, ISPs and other networks can't find Facebook's network and so it is unavailable. The individual networks each have an ASN: an Autonomous System Number. An Autonomous System (AS) is an individual network with a unified internal routing policy. An AS can originate prefixes (say that they control a group of IP addresses), as well as transit prefixes (say they know how to reach specific groups of IP addresses). From A New York Times Article: “Computers convert websites such as facebook.com to numeric internet protocol addresses, through a system that is likened to a phone's address book. Facebook's issue was the equivalent of removing people's phone numbers from under their names in their address book, making it impossible to call them, he said. Because Cloudflare directs traffic to Facebook, it became aware of the outage early on and saw the incident's scope.” If the nameservers are unreachable or fail to respond because of some other reason, then a SERVFAIL is returned, and the browser issues an error to the user. Due to Facebook stopping announcing their DNS prefix routes through BGP, our and everyone else's DNS resolvers had no way to connect to their nameservers. Consequently, 1.1.1.1, 8.8.8.8, and other major public DNS resolvers started issuing (and caching) SERVFAIL responses. But that's not all. Now human behavior and application logic kicks in and causes another exponential effect. A tsunami of additional DNS traffic follows. This happened in part because apps won't accept an error for an answer and start retrying, sometimes aggressively, and in part because end-users also won't take an error for an answer and start reloading the pages, or killing and relaunching their apps, sometimes also aggressively. This in turn creates a traffic increase, which increases stress to the system, even when traffic is beginning to move again. traffic changed dramatically from 15:45 UTC to 16:45 UTC-- It stopped being available at around 15:50 UTC and returned at 21:20 UTC. What remains unclear is exactly why this happened. Early speculation was that it was not a cyber attack but a problem in Facebook's servers. At one point, a team was dispatched to a Santa Clara, Calif., data center to try a “manual reset” the servers, according to an internal memo. 3.5 Billion people use the sites around the world, including many for business and sales. A New York times article stoked fears that this instability could be a liability to the economy and health. Watch this story to see if this sort of thing becomes a talking point for those who want to socialize social media in the name of health and safety and economic stability. Of course people do make their livings off the internet and social media, but this is part of the risk that is built into the world. Truck drivers sometimes have flat tires, ships run into hurricanes, and farmers have poor rain fall. The answer is not more government regulation and bureaucracy. The answer is hard work, saving more than you spend, taking appropriate precautions, and trusting the God of the harvest. To look for a perfect solution where nothing bad ever happens is to look for a God, a religious solution that does not exist apart from the true God of Heaven. But for many, the state is the solution to every hardship because the state is their god and their religion. But clearly their god is impotent as he cannot apparently save us from anything. Maybe their god is in the bathroom. No seriously… Senator Sinema Harassed at ASU in a Lady's Room Play Audio Democratic Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema have been in the crosshairs of leftist activists over the last week as they have refused to go along with extremists in passing the 3.5 jumbo jet pork bill that wants the state all up in your business. So these extremists followed Sen. Sinema into a Lady's Room to protest her stance after she politely declined to answer their questions. Leftists Cheer Bullying of Senator Sinema & Twitter Shrugs https://jezebel.com/absolutely-bully-kyrsten-sinema-outside-of-her-bathroom/ Jezebel -- one extremist media outlet had this to say: “The effectiveness of certain kinds of protest will always be up for debate. From violent altercations to boycotts, sit-ins and marches, each method has some history of success and failure that differs among participants, observers, and the object of the protestors' scorn. So naturally, a group of activists pursuing Senator Kyrsten Sinema around the Arizona State University campus over the weekend and—controversially, somehow—briefly following Sinema into a public restroom to note that their family members were deported—is bound to prompt some pearl-clutching.” The article is titled “Absolutely Bully Sinema Outside Her Bathroom Stall.” Of course Twitter has done nothing about this article that defends bullying. Kirsten Powers replied on Twitter: “Which is worse: your grandparents being deported or being followed into a bathroom (bc you refused to stop and listen) by ppl desperate for your help? This is not a trick question.” Well, there's a difference between pursuing someone in leadership in desperation, and doing so to score political points and filming the whole thing and posting it on the internet. But I'm pretty sure if this were AOC or another member of the Squad, CNN would be hyperventilating on air right now talking about white supremacy and Trump. China Sends 52 Warplanes Over Taiwanese Airspace Monday https://dailycaller.com/2021/10/04/china-52-warplanes-taiwan-adiz-incursion/ China sent a record 52 military aircrafts into Taiwan's Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) Monday, making it the largest incursion since the self-governing island began publicly reporting such data in 2020. The aircrafts included 34 J-16, two Su-30 fighter jets, 12 nuclear-capable H-6 bombers, two Y-8 anti-submarine warplanes and two KJ-500 airborne control planes belonging to China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force, according to a statement from Taiwan's defense ministry. Taiwan issued radio warnings and deployed its air defense missile systems in response. The Chinese planes flew near the Pratas Island, an atoll in the South China Sea, located southwest of Taiwan and near the Chinese provinces of Fujian and Guangdong, accordingto a map of their flight paths shared by Taiwan's defense ministry. Chinese aircrafts made around 380 air incursions into Taiwan's ADIZ in 2020 alone, a Taiwanese defense official said in January. Beijing has become more assertive in its military posture, making more than 500 air incursions so far this year, DW reported. The previous record of Chinese military planes entering Taiwan's ADIZ was reportedSaturday night, when 39 aircraft flew into the zone. China flew 25 planes into the ADIZ on Oct. 1 in an apparent display of force coinciding with the country's National Day. Tensions between the two countries have worsened in recent months. Chinese air missions in Taiwanese airspace and near the Pratas Islands have become more frequent as a result. China claims Taiwan as its territory and defends its incursions into Taiwanese airspace as essential to protecting its own sovereignty. (RELATED: US Military Says Chinese Attack On Taiwan Accelerating As Taiwan Threatens War ‘To The Very Last Day') Chinese defense ministry spokesman Wu Qian warned in January that “Taiwan independence means war.” He also called China's military activities in the Taiwan Strait “necessary actions to safeguard national sovereignty and security.” Which is kind of like the accusation that even though I'm vaccinated, it does not work if you don't get vaccinated. https://www.facebook.com/aaron.rock.98/videos/576873593358102/ Play audio: 1:07-2:04 That's JP Sears with another great satirical video. America's national debt has topped $28.4 trillion, but Democrats want to raise the debt limit and keep on spending. For months, Democrats have been pushing a $3.5 trillion tax-and-spend bill, but they may have hit a roadblock Thursday. Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., said he can't support the social welfare spending package. “My top line has been $1.5 [trillion],” Manchin told reporters outside the Capitol. Rep. Tom McClintock, R-Calif., says congressional Democrats' $3.5 trillion bill would significantly harm the economy if they succeed in passing it. Although Manchin and some other centrist Democrats say they can't support the bill, McClintock says, he “would hate to see the fate of the republic rest on those narrow shoulders.” Democrats also worked Thursday to promote a more bipartisan $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill. But McClintock says that bill provides funding to “Green New Deal subsidies to green energy companies” and other leftist priorities. The California Republican joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to break down the state of the economy and the likelihood that Democrats will be able to pass the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill and the other $3.5 trillion spending bill.We also cover these stories:Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., says he won't support Democrats' $3.5 trillion spending bill. The Supreme Court will take up a case about Boston's refusal to fly a flag representing a Christian organization outside Boston City Hall. The gunmaker Smith & Wesson is moving its headquarters from Springfield, Massachusetts, to Maryville, Tennessee. Shooting the video with my little brother Julian on drums was really cool. My sister Jess also helped out on set as the assistant director making it rain hundred-dollar bills. Everything I do is pretty much in house, and I genuinely love the work that goes into both making the music and the music videos. The video came together once I found this location with a Money room. I thought it would be perfect to go with the song considering our name and the context of the lyrics. The drums we used in the music video were the same DW drums that were used on tour for years with my dad's band. That set is almost 20 years old now. The guitar in the music video is really special to me because it was the guitar that was used in Two Tickets to Paradise. I wanted to bring that guitar out for this music video to honor my dad. I really love that guitar and at the end of the day, we're just trying to make my dad proud by working hard doing what we love,” Dez explains.

Grab your Free Copy of “The 4 Biggest Mistakes That Stop Companies From 10X'ing Their Revenue” at https://www.scalerevenue.io/10xCould you imagine being raised in an environment where it is all about sales? Dailius Wilson's dad was a VP for Hewlett Packard, so DW grew up listening to his sales calls in the car every day. Even though his dad advised him against getting into sales, being raised in that way helped DW develop the drive and enthusiasm he needed to become the sales expert he is today. DW is a 4 times VP of Sales. He helps companies grow from zero to $20,000,000 in ARR. He is currently the VP of Growth at GetAccept. He is also a writer for HubSpot and is involved with many different groups and communities. He is joining us today to share his ninja skills and take a deep dive into what he has learned from the many adventures he has had in his life. Sales is a meritocracy. So you will be promoted quickly and earn well if you can deliver. No matter what stage he has been through in his leadership journey, DW has always loved calling his customers on the phone and talking to them. He still does it today.Regardless of if you are a VP of Product, Finance, or Sales, doing a little bit of selling is a great ethos for success.DW feels that sales, marketing, and growth are all connected because if marketing works the first time, it will result in a sale. A captivating effective ad that ultimately converts is effectively a digital direct sale from the first marketing effort.Although sales are vital, you can use every other skill you have in different areas to gain respect from others and show them that you are a well-rounded professional.DW's top 3 ninja skills are:Automating human processes. Think about how you can replace the steps in your day-to-day workflow with technical thinking and machines. That will help you work 10-20 times faster.Mastering content and copy. There is a difference between writing marketing copy and sales copy. You can add a lot of value by doing those effectively and in different ways. (Like doing a podcast.) As a salesperson, you will gain credibility if you write something authentic every month and share that content with the people to whom you are trying to sell.Continually improving and developing himself. It is vital to invest in self-improvement. You stand to gain a lot if you spend about 8% of your annual earnings on up-skilling yourself. To automate your sales process if you are a founder or sales leader, use third-party proof points. You can watch a leading SaaS video or listen to a good podcast. Get inside your own business before making any decisions. If you are a founder, sales leader, or salesperson, think about exactly what gets done between 9 am and 5 pm. You might see people making calls without doing any research or making any introductory efforts, or following up in any way. Reps need to follow up on all meetings. As a leader, you need to partner with all the individual contributors, as well as the leadership in the business, to smooth all the processes out and ensure that as many processes as possible can be automated. Think about automating to the point at which you can personalize. It is possible to automate and personalize things simultaneously. It is a good idea to automate your prospecting, if possible. If you are a leader in a business with around $1,000,000 in revenue, you should already have a strategy that works for product-market fit or a customer or industry that you are already selling to successfully. Use that as a blueprint. Then, think about 3-5 pain points that occur within that market, and direct your marketing, messaging, and sales points around those pain points. Talk to individuals about the problems they are experiencing. That will make your approach more organic and palatable.95% of people can be up-skilled quickly and effectively when it comes to their writing abilities. Sales writing follows a predictable formula, so it helps to incorporate a structure in your writing. As you become more comfortable over time, you can start to deviate from the structure.Scott Barker, a good sales leader, landed himself in a good position by focusing on telling the right sales stories and finding the right salespeople. The best thing for a leader to see is their people becoming better than them. That will lead to mutual respect.Try to double your net worth or your knowledge every 12 months, even during difficult times. It helps to diversify your strategy and have multiple income streams.Ask people you respect who influenced them. DW enjoys listening to Lewis Howes's podcasts and The Masterclass.DW's number 1 tip for growing from zero to $20,000,000:Take the pressure off sales and put it into closing. If more than 50% of your leads are coming from outbound, you will find it hard to grow. Learn to live by the 80/20 rule of bringing in 80% of your leads from inbound, and 20% of your big deals from outbound. If you live by that rule, you are sure to scale. The steps you need to follow for growing from zero to $20,000,000 are:Build a category that you can own and dominate for what you do. If you create a new trend, your name will be the first to appear on Google.Invest in zero-cost growth strategies as much as possible, as early as possible.Find a way to keep people infused into your business, even if it means giving away part of your company. That will create brand loyalty in your employees and incentivize them to stay.Links and resources:Find Dailius Wilson on LinkedInBooks mentioned:The Hero's Journey by Joseph CampbellThe Hero's 2 Journeys by Michael Hauge and Christopher VoglerTo Sell is Human by Daniel H. Bonus: Dr. Funkenstein records this episode from the confines of another DW podcaster's home, a toddler shows up mid-podcast, and T-Lo talks about driving all over Texas - moving one daughter into College, the day after marrying another daughter within 21 hours. The three take the loose framework of two of Jason's episodes on Arthur ("DW's Time Trouble" and "Operation: DW!") as the opportunity to talk to him about his time on the show, the experience of voice acting as a child, memorable fan interactions, his new podcasting endeavor (Finding DW), and which facts on his Wikipedia page are flat-out false. Specjalny wyjazdowy Raport o książkach z Budy Ruskiej. To opowieść o znikaniu sąsiadów – kolorowych niegdyś i pełnych życia łemkowskich wsiach Beskidu Niskiego, które kolejne zarazy, epidemie, pogromy i wysiedlenia zmieniły w Pusty Las. Proszę zajrzeć do środka – będą niespodzianki! Zaprasza Agata Kasprolewicz.

Justin Gauthier joins us at the DW studio. We sit down and talk about it being ok not to feel strongly about a subject, as well as not staying in your own “camp” just for comfort. We discuss the benefits of a higher education and how networking with individuals from other industries (especially the renewable industry) has been a HUGE benefit for him during his higher education journey. We chat about being informed, and having conversations that allow a more healthy and beneficial energy discussion versus the “fossil fuels vs renewable” debate. We end it by discussing the amazing things his wife is doing with her company “Wicked Holdings” and how it provides a safe living environment for families who may need it.
