What a powerful statement, huh? Movement is...Motion. Life. Emotion. Forward movement. Revolution. Motion is life, and life is motion. But is this YOU today? Are you a woman of movement? Today I'm going to teach you how you can be. SHOW NOTES... Unfortunately when people first reach out to me, a lot of times they’re NOT moving. They’re moving and shaking…but not moving anywhere. They’re shaking in fear, and not moving ahead in their lives. They feel stuck. Oftentimes feeling like they’re stuck, AND they suck. Not knowing what to do. If that’s you, don’t worry. I’ve got you covered. It’s not the first time I’ve heard this. Years ago, I was hearing this so often that I put together a Training C.A.M.P. to help people begin to move forward in the areas of: Certainty. Abundance. Movement. Purpose. That’s why we’re talking about this. We’ve talked about Woman of Certainty (EPISODE 037) and Women of Abundance (EPISODE 038.) Movement is such a huge part of YOU being alive on planet earth. MOTION is everything, my dear. Perhaps you find yourself sitting all day, everyday at your job, then you go home at night, and sit in front of the television. And all you do is sit. Sit. SIT... Today’s the day you have to take a STAND for yourself. Take a STAND for the motion. Take a STAND for the emotion that’s evoking passion and power in your life. Today I’d like to speak about three (3) areas of MOVEMENT. 1. Health - Physical Movement If you’re not doing daily physical movement, then I’m not going to “should” on you. You KNOW you “should” be moving. But IF you’re not, then ask yourself, "Why…?" - Have you scheduled it into your day? - Are you scheduling movement that you love to do? Not everyone is super excited about getting on a treadmill, elliptical machine, stair master, or whatever. I get it! You don't have to. Exercise is any movement more than you’re doing right now. If you are currently doing NO movement, and you start moving - even a little bit - it’s like putting a little bit of money in your bank account each day. Before long you’ve got some kind of account! When you begin to move a little each day, you start a fitness, health, and wellness account. Before long your account grows. I had a woman come to one of my talks when I spoke about this topic. What she took away from my talk was this: “Do what you can.” So she did. She knew she could walk for a minute. Then she decided she could run for a minute. So she started running for one minute, and each day she added another minute. In six weeks she was a runner…training for her first 5K! She had lost weight, and so many amazing things happened because of her commitment to do what she could in the area of physical movement. Make the commitment to do what you can. Do something MORE than you’re doing right now. The slightest little changes have an accumulative affect. 2. Head - Mental Movement. Where are you in how you’re THINKING? Are you seeing the future, yet strategizing and taking action in the present? This is what it takes to be a Woman Of Movement. You must be able to see the future with BIG VISION, but strategize and take steps in your present. What steps are you taking to move your life forward, and in the direction of your desires, dreams, goals, and vision? Are you taking steps each and every day? If you’re not, then you have your dreams and desires on the back burner. Get your dreams and desires OFF THE BACK BURNER. If you’re putting your dreams and desires are on the back burner, YOU’RE GETTING BURNED OUT. You may think your burnout is coming from how hard you work. BUT, if you’re working real hard and you’re getting burned out, perhaps it’s because your life’s not working. One way to get it WORKING is to get your dreams, goals, desires OFF the back burner, and get them out in front. No different than a carrot on a stick. Get what matters to you out in front of you to keep going. Otherwise you’re FRYING yourself! Stop. Stop what’s not working. It’s time to start something new. Start what IS working. 3. Heart - Your Spiritual Movement. Are you creating, and entering into the revolution that is YOUR LIFE? Creating a revolution…a movement in your life. It feels so big, but it doesn’t happen over night. It starts by doing the little things. Get moving. Get your body moving. Get your health heading in the right direction. Start tapping into the energy source that’s life and movement. Motion is life. Life is motion. Begin to strategize as you see your future. Say YES to the future you’d like to create, but STAY IN and DO the work in the present. The motion and momentum that you’ll create in your life will create a revolutionary movement. Have you ever thought about that? Or are you waiting for someone else to come along, and lead you on this movement? Are you ready to lead yourself? Receive the leadership around…there’s nothing wrong with that. But if you aren’t willing to do it for yourself, you’ll keep doing it all by yourself. When you're willing to do it FOR YOURSELF, you don’t have to do it ALL BY YOURSELF. And you can enter the moment that is your life, my dear. This is one of the reasons I started Women Sipping On Life. You’ve heard my story that began many years ago. I began to sip on life with some of my mentors. I started to grow, go forward in my life, and leave the past behind. Instead of being and talking about the problem, I decided to BE and talk about the SOLUTION, and become an active participant in creating it. Oh my goodness, my life has never been the same. I believe WOMEN SIPPING. ON. LIFE. is a movement. The last time I checked (at the time of this recording) we were in over 16 countries. I’m so excited about that, but I would LOVE to hear from YOU. What’s happening for you? Are you beginning to take these steps, and enter into the moment that’s YOU and YOUR LIFE? Not only a life, but a life that you LOVE, and a life that LOVES YOU BACK. You’ll get further in life by doing a little each day, then waiting until that one day when you feel ALL INSPIRED, and try to do it ALL over night. That’s NOT going to happen. You’ll wonder why you keep starting and stopping. Then blaming yourself for not being disciplined. Instead, make a decision to do a little every single day and build on it. Mental Mastery Mondays | Life Purpose, Productivity, and Self-Discipline
I’m obviously still consumed with consuming Jay Papasan’s book, The One Thing. This is like finding a vein of gold and following it to an abundance of riches. I’m giving you “one year to master 5 things and turn them into habits.” Daily exercise Daily meditation Healthy eating Learn a new language Learn a musical instrument. Most people would go to work immediately, planning their day to include a bit of each one. THIS IS WHY WE FAIL. We’re trying to take 5 things all at once and condition our mind to make these regular habits in our life. AND we’re exhausted each day. In addition to everything else you do, you’re trying to add in five things you’re not used to doing. The process of learning a new habit consumes so much of our the available power in our prefrontal cortex, we’re completely tapped-out when we’re trying to learn too many things at once. Within a couple of months, we’re distracted and slowing letting our new desired habits die off. Now, let’s look at a new approach that will change your life. A study published by Health Psychology Researcher Phillippa Lally in the European Journal of Social Psychology shows that the average time to form a new habit is 66 days. This takes into consideration the simpler habit like drinking a glass of water every morning along with the more difficult ones like including daily exercise (at least difficult for me). Average is 66 days. So, what if you forgot the other 4 habits you had to learn and focus on the one you thought might take the longest, such as learning a musical instrument. If each of the new desired habits takes an average of 66 days to learn, it will take you (on average) 330 days to integrate all 5 habits. That leaves you 35 days of wiggle room in case one takes a bit longer. DAILY LIFE. This is why so many of us are failing at so much of what we want to accomplish in life. We’re trying to do it all at once. Pick the one thing that’s most important to your success… drop the others and stay focused on the ONE THING (see, there’s that book again) until it’s a habit. Habits take little mental effort. New tasks take tons of effort. Learning something new will tax your mind in a big way. Doing what you’ve always done is often called a mindless task. It takes little mental power. Think about a drive you take every day. Sometimes you get to work and don’t even remember the drive (unless you’re in Southern California… you remember EVERY morning commute.). Again, I’m giving you the summary of this. In the book The One Thing, Jay Papasan does a more in depth explanation as to why this happens. There’s a lot of science that goes into it. Listen, you can spend the next year trying to master 5 new habits, end up frustrated you didn’t accomplish any of them, or you can drop 4 of them for the next 66 days while you master the first one and then be excited in a year when all of them are mindless habits. What ONE THING are you going to turn into a habit over the next 66 days?
