We look at the latest wireless charger from Zens. See more on their website here. Zens Magnetic Nightstand Charger reviewed Out of the box our team liked the device. It feels nice, has a good user experience, and feels good in your hand. The one aspect of the charger that the testers were a bit twitchy about is that they felt it charged quite slowly compared to a cable based option. At the same time, for those moments when you are just putting your phone down, then dropping it onto a wireless charging pad is quite a friction free way to use the device. It is well made, came in a funky design and would, at this time of year, make a potentially useful and appreciated stocking filler for those little people in your life who keep stealing, er borrowing, your own charging devices. More about the Zens Magnetic Nightstand Charger Zens introduces copper/white wireless chargers: a perfect blend of innovation and style Meeting the growing demand for products that complement light interiors Zens, the leader in wireless charging solutions, is excited to unveil its latest limited edition collection, inspired by trends in interior design. The collection features a stylish white and copper finish, with copper reflecting the material of the wireless charging coil. Two popular products are available in this exclusive copper/white edition: the Magnetic Nightstand Charger, designed specifically for iPhone 12 and newer models, and the Nightstand Charger Pro 2, which allows simultaneous charging of both an iPhone and an Apple Watch. These sleek chargers combine functionality with style, replacing outdated alarm clocks and blending effortlessly into any decor. "These colorful products are designed to make a statement in any bedroom," says Johan Plasmans, CEO of Zens. "With a minimalist look and feel, they meet the growing demand for products that match light, modern interiors. In 2024, people are looking for a peaceful, distraction-free bedroom to recharge. Our chargers blend perfectly into these tranquil spaces, offering fewer cables and less clutter for a better night's rest." Both chargers are fully compatible with Apple's StandBy Mode, transforming an iPhone into a personalized display while charging. Whether you're checking the time, weather forecast, viewing photos, or customizing the display colors to match your interior, Zens chargers seamlessly blend functionality with style. The Magnetic Nightstand Charger (€49,99) and Nightstand Charger Pro 2 (€99,99) in copper/white are now available in limited quantities. About Zens We are innovators. Inspirers. Pioneers. We look at the latest cable free charging tech from Zens. You can see more about the Office Charger on their website here. Zens Office Charger Pro 3 reviewed Our testers were keen to play around with this device. The funny thing is that, overall, while they were pretty positive about it. Firstly it does the job well, it plugs and plays, and charges fast. As a usable tool, with the endless hassle in the office with heads dying and charging leads being pinched, borrowed or just plain disappearing, there is a clear value for a device like this. In this context our testers gave it a solid thumbs up and definitely liked it. We can tell this too because none of them are rushing to return it to the office either. The one thing where it could be more useful is, much like the EU directive on one charger working for all devices, it would be great if this charger also did this. First up it is Apple facing, so all those users will be happy. It does also seem to happily charge Pixels too. However when some of our other android users wanted to join the party they were not always successful. As it seems that, overall, our team are fans of this product, it would be good if it also worked for all types of phones. Apart from that caveat this is a good piece of gear.

This week, we're beginning a month on radical activism in the 1960s with a look at the student uprisings of 1968. Today is all about where those uprisings came from, how they're related to the "two Zens" of the 1960s, and the specific example of the University of Tokyo, where a debate about student medical internships turned into a violent and bloody battle between leftist student groups. Show notes here.

It’s time for another “Magic 8-Ball” episode! AKA, where we shake up the nearly 200 episodes we’ve released in the past two years, and the one that rises to the surface has a message that you needed to hear today. Have you ever heard something that felt so true that it resonated in your very bones? Even if you couldn’t explain why you knew it was true? You just knew. That’s how I felt when I read this passage from the end of Elizabeth Gilbert’s mega-bestselling book Eat, Pray, Love: “The Zen Buddhists say that an oak tree is brought into creation by two forces at the same time. Obviously, there is the acorn from which it all begins, the seed which holds all the promise and potential, which grows into the tree. Everybody can see that. But only a few can recognize that there is another force operating here as well—the future tree itself, which wants so badly to exist that it pulls the acorn into being, drawing the seedling forth with longing out of the void, guiding the evolution from nothingness to maturity. In this respect, say the Zens, it is the oak tree that creates the very acorn from which it was born.” I mean, damn, right? In this clarity-on-fire-side-chat (…get it?) from October 2018, Kristen and I put on our philosopher’s hats (debatable whether we ever took them off in the first place) and dove into this whole acorn/oak tree thing. We talked about: What is the point of desire? Why do we crave certain things, and not others? And what does it mean for you to want something? Why we believe desire isn’t random (and why wanting something might just be proof that you’re eventually going to get it—yes, you read that right). The relativity of time, and why the veil between the present, past, and future might be thinner than any of us realize (no big deal). Some mind-blowing facts about the Universe that put our itsy-bitsy problems into perspective. A fun exercise to help you communicate with your past and future selves (sounds creepy, but isn’t). If you like deep conversations, there’s nothing better than this one! Enjoy, and come leave a comment after you’ve listened to share your own deep thoughts. Michelle covers What's With Paul and Women? by Jon Zens and explores the backlash against women in ministerial leadership positions, what Scripture says regarding silencing women, the patriarchy, and more. From the back cover: "1 Timothy 2:11-12 has been used as a "clear" mandate to silence women in the church for over 1500 years. In What's With Paul & Women? Jon Zens exposes the fallacies of this interpretation, and opens up the meaning of 1 Timothy 2:9-15 using insights gleaned from the Artemis-saturated Ephesian culture where Timothy was left to stand against false teaching (1:3). Going beyond 1 Timothy 2, this book covers the major issues in gender inequality with three Appendices: one on the Ephesian social world in which 1 Timothy was written, another on 1 Corinthians 14:34-36 and an extensive review of John Piper's What's the Difference? Manhood & Womanhood Defined According to the Bible. If 1 Timothy 2:11-12 and 1 Corinthians 14:34-36 have puzzled you, What's With Paul & Women? will help in your quest to discern the mind of the Lord as the gender debate continues."
If you’re a beer fan, the world of cannabis probably intersects with your world in the most casual of ways. You might enjoy both occasionally, or even in a single sitting. You might be attracted to IPAs that exhibit some of your favorite cannabis characteristics—“dank” and “sticky” describe both in equal measure these days. You might float back and forth effortlessly between these two categories of recreational drugs. But if you work in the beer industry, the conversation couldn’t be more different. Professional beer marketers and pundits have been scrambling to understand the potential impact cannabis could have on the beer industry, specifically craft beer—and many worry that it threatens to steal more dollars from the same consumers. If you work in recreational cannabis, on the other hand, chances are you’ve learned a lot from the growth of craft beer as to how to build a customer base and establish a craft-oriented experience around your product—particularly as the cannabis market shifts its focus from medial to recreational. Cannabis is slowly becoming a brand, a lifestyle lead category. And it’s moving even faster than the most recent generation of craft brewers did to establish a new niche. These intersections are fascinating from both a cultural and business lens, and the GBH Studio happens to be just down the street from one of the nation’s largest cannabis organizations: Grassroots Cannabis. As the legalization of recreational cannabis in Illinois was underway, Grassroots entered into a potential merger with an even larger company to the tune of $875M. That’s now pending approval by the feds, which is a funny idea in and of itself—that the federal government is involved in approving the merger of two companies whose products have not even been legalized at the national level yet. But that’s exactly how wild these times are for cannabis. This conversation took place right at the end of the year, before recreational cannabis legalization went into effect in the state of Illinois. Some of this is a conversation about what’s to be expected, both long-term, but also, in a very real sense, the very next week. This is Matt Darin, founder and chief operating officer, and Andrew Zens, vice president of talent acquisition and development, at Grassroots Cannabis. Listen in.

Welcome to episode 14 of the UnSunday Show! In this episode, I continue my interaction with Jon Zens' book entitled, A Church Building Every 1/2 Mile: What Makes American Christianity Tick? In Section 5 of the book, which is called Why Has Church Become So One-Part Driven?, Zens shares the following quote from David L. McKenna,"[The pastor] is like the cerebellum, the center for communicating messages, coordinating functions, and conducting responses between the head and body.... The pastor is not only the authoritative communicator of the truth from the Head to the Body, but he is also the accurate communicator of the needs from the Body to the Head."Later in the chapter he quotes C. Peter Wagner as saying,"The army has only one Commander-in-Chief, Jesus Christ. The local church is like a company with one company commander, the pastor, who gets his orders from the Commander-in-Chief. The company commander has lieutenants and sergeants under him for consultation and implementation, but the final responsibility for decisions is that of the company commander, and he must answer to the Commander-in-Chief... The pastor has the power in a growing church... The pastor of a growing church may appear to outsiders as a dictator. But to the people of the church, his decisions are their decisions."Let's talk about it! Zen's book and my blogs mentioned in this episode:A Church Building Every 1/2 Mile: What Makes American Christianity Tick? (I recommend this book!)Why Is There A Pulpit? The Pastor-Driven ChurchEnjoy!

In this brand new clarity-on-fire-side-chat (…get it?) Kristen and I are putting on our philosopher’s hats (debatable whether we ever took them off in the first place) and diving into this whole acorn/oak tree thing. We’re talking about: What is the point of desire?
