This is a simple mindset shift inspired by a joke from one of my favorite comedians. It can be so easy for us to focus on the negative aspects of life. All the things that aren't going right. All the things we can't control. But when we flip the switch and think about what in our life is going well and that we have the power to do something that will positively influence our future, we're taking back control. When we believe that the future is greater than our past, everything changes. Life becomes more fun. We start noticing things we never did before. We give ourselves permission to explore our passions and pursue our dreams. I hope this video inspires you to do more of what you love. The thing about creating is... Well, it's complicated. There's so much that goes into the creative process. Sometimes ideas dance freely in our mind. We know what to do with them and which direction to go. Other times, it's not that simple. We sit in front of the keyboard or stare at a blank canvas waiting for inspiration to strike. In this episode, Kate shares some of her thoughts on the creative process and why, no matter what, we must continue to create. In order to live a happier, more fulfilling life, we need to let go of what no longer serves us to make space for what does. Here are 6 things to let go of to help you become the best version of yourself:Perfectionism – How many dreams are waiting or dying inside of you because you are waiting for the perfect time or because you don't want to put it out into the world because it doesn't have all of the ‘perfect pieces' even though we know perfect doesn't exist.Comparison – Nothing beneficial comes from comparing. The only person you need to compare yourself to is the person you were yesterday.Toxic relationships – Let go of the people in your life that don't serve you, the people you give so much effort and energy to that don't give it back. Let people show you who they really are, and believe them.Negative self-talk – Ask yourself: Is it true? Is it helpful? Is it kind?Unused things – what can you get rid of that you no longer use? Maybe it's clothes in your closet or books on your shelf. When we start getting rid of unused things, the energy shifts and opens up, and we invite new energy back into our lives.Judgment – let go of judgment of yourself and of other people. It is not our job to judge people in this world. We have no idea what other people are going through in their lives. If we lead with kindness and love, the world would be a much better place.Get book recommendations, journaling prompts and weekly inspiration delivered to your inbox by signing up for Massive Optimism. Who are you? What do you want? These are two questions Donnie Tuttle encourages people to ask themselves during different phases of their lives. We're constantly learning, growing, and becoming. In this episode, we talked about collaboration, handling fear, being addicted to work and productivity, and more. We explored judgment and shame around the creative process and how to give yourself creative power. At the end of the show, Donnie asked Kate for a bit of coaching. He wants to be a generous artist unafraid of sharing his work with the world. He holds himself back and needs a little push. If you're scared to share your work or creative project, I hope the conversation inspires you to get it out. The world needs your idea.
