Today we have certified Tiny Habits coach Julie Delucca Collins sharing her tips for happiness habits, tune in to see how these tiny habits really do add up. Transcript: Hey there, you're listening to Everyday Happiness with Katie Jefcoat. But today I'm Julie DeLucca-Collins taking over. And I am here to tell you the one thing and the one habit that helps me feel great. And this is again, all tiny habits add up. One of the things that I like to tell people is that consistent action gets you traction. If you are thinking that little things are not going to matter, I encourage you and challenge you to really dispel that belief because the compounding effect is real. Today I want to talk about water and why water matters. Water is something that can also create other habits, because little habits are like plants. When you start a plant, it can really grow from there and it can spread. So even though water may not seem like a big deal, if you are drinking water, this is something that can help you feel hydrated, energized, happier and may inspire you to also pick the salad as opposed to the french fries. So start small and you will see the change in your life and you will also feel proud of having this little habit in your life. So for me, it's daunting to be able to drink a lot of water. When I think about having to drink half of my body weight in water, I could never do it because again, that's having to rely on motivation. So for that reason, I pick the moment, I pick the action in my life that happens every single day. And for me that is letting my dogs out. So when I let my dogs out every morning, my tiny habit is I fill my water, my water bottle, and I'm not going for drinking it right then and there, but I start with that tiny habit and then when I see the water filled and it's sitting next to me, then I chug. And every time I chug, I'm going to have to go to the bathroom. And when I go to the bathroom, then I drink some more water. So I have these anchor moments, letting the dogs out, etc. But ultimately you want to make sure that you are giving yourself credit for what you're doing. Hydrate, because when you feel better, then you can show up in the world better. I am so happy and thanks for listening to me all week. Catch another episode of Everyday Happiness tomorrow. P.S. If you are interested in a habits challenge, Julie is starting a free 5-day challenge on Monday February 20th. Today we have certified Tiny Habits coach Julie Delucca Collins sharing her tips for happiness habits, tune in to see how these tiny habits really do add up. Transcript: Hey there, you're listening to Everyday Happiness with Katie Jefcoat. But today, I'm Julie DeLucca-Collins taking over. I want to talk to you today about something that we all do and that probably creates a low level stress for all of us. I want to create some thoughtful, mindful and grateful ways for you, and we've talked about this already. For you to be able to manage email. Email is something that we can't escape. It's part of our world now, but a lot of times many of us associate overwhelm when we're checking email. So I'm going to give you one of my Tiny Habits that allows me to then be able to be happier when it comes to having email in my life. Number one, I create some Intentional Margins®, like my friend Katie has taught me. I don't check email outside of the times that I've allocated in my schedule to be checked. That's number one. So second is when I check email first thing in the morning, I only check it for maybe whatever time I've allocated. But here is the big one. And this is my tiny habit. After I have my time up with email, I close it out. I don't keep email open throughout the day. One, because it helps me be more productive. Did you know that every time you get a distraction from what you are doing, you could lose about 17 minutes and it will take you to get back into whatever form of concentration you are in. So for this reason, my tiny habit when it comes to email is after I check email in my designated times, I close the program and then I celebrate -- yay go me, I close out email. And this forces you to be more intentional when you're checking your email and focus on what matters. So I am here all week, see you tomorrow everybody for another episode. P.S. If you are interested in a habits challenge, Julie is starting a free 5-day challenge on Monday February 20th. Today we have certified Tiny Habits coach Julie Delucca Collins sharing her tips for happiness habits, tune in to see how these tiny habits really do add up. Transcript: Hey there! You are listening to Everyday Happiness with Katie Jefcoat. But today I'm Julie DeLucca-Collins and I am taking over. I am talking about Tiny Habits and how you can incorporate tiny habits into your life to create the type of life that you want and increase your happiness overall. Yesterday we talked about gratitude and today I want to talk about mindfulness. Because mindfulness is something that many of us forget or are not sure how to even incorporate into our life. So the one thing that I'm going to share with you is that you don't have to sit and meditate for hours or breathe or do a lot of that. You can be going about your life and doing the everyday mundane stuff that then allows you to create a little bit of mindfulness. In the afternoon, I typically have some tea and after I boil my water, then this is my mindfulness moment and this is my tiny habit. While I am pouring the water into my cup, I really become aware and I watch the water and I use all of my senses to pay attention. I look at the water begin to change color as it hits the tea bag. And then I notice as I pour my little bit of honey into the tea and I bring that tea up to my nose and I smell it and I sit in that moment and really pay attention. And after I create that intentional creation of my tea and I make my tea and that mindful moment in which I pay attention, I give myself a smile and I say, oh, I spend some moments in mindfulness. So I want you to find time throughout your day. What are different things that you do? Maybe you pour yourself coffee or maybe when you get into your car, whatever it is, find the time to create mindfulness with the moments in which you are already doing things in your life and then celebrate for it. I'm so glad you're here and see you tomorrow for another episode. I am here all week to talk about tiny habits. P.S. I want to talk to you about another Tiny Habit. Tiny habits again, are the things that allow you to create the behavior you desire and become the embodied person you want to become without going big and failing. Because sometimes failure is what takes away our joy and happiness. So in order for you to continue to grow your habit and be happy about what you are able to do, I encourage you to create a habit of gratitude. And I know Katie talks about this all the time, and at times we're probably like, oh, how do I do this? I don't know. And you've heard the experts talk about a gratitude list, talk about all the different things that you can do. If you're wondering how you start, how do you get started, I'm going to teach you a little recipe that will help you create the gratitude habit. So now I do make lists here and there, but I will tell you, the one thing that helps me in my relationship with my husband is being grateful about having him in my life. And trust me, ladies, and some gentleman, there are times that our significant other does things that maybe, you know, leave their shoes somewhere where you can trip over them that make you like, oh my gosh. So I remind myself to be grateful for him. Every night my husband wears a CPAP to sleep, and every night when I get in bed and he puts his CPAP on, right, that is my anchor moment. That reminds me to do my little habit. And my little habit is I say, I am so grateful for this person in my life. And I take that moment and I put my hand on his shoulder and he doesn't even know why I'm putting my hand on his shoulders half the time, because it's just a mundane moment in our life. So after I do that, then I give myself a thumbs up because I just created a moment of gratitude. So that's my tiny habit when it comes to creating gratitude. And that helps me create more happiness in my life. I will see you tomorrow for another episode. I'm here all week. P.S. Today we have certified Tiny Habits coach Julie Delucca-Collins sharing her tips for happiness habits, tune in to see how these tiny habits really do add up. Transcript: Hey there, you're listening to Everyday Happiness with Katie Jefcoat. But today I'm Julie DeLucca-Collins, a business and life strategy coach and Tiny Habits certified. I'm so excited to talk to you about tiny habits because tiny habits can help you increase your happiness. The biggest thing that happens when you are trying to design new behavior or create a habit is that a lot of people want to go big or go home. And I can tell you that brain science and research says that if you are trying to rely on motivation to create a habit, you are surely going to fail. Your brain changes when you feel good. So to start off your day, here is a way that you can create happiness for yourself and create a habit that will be long lasting. First, you create a recipe and the recipe is when you do one thing, you attach your habit and then you celebrate after you do your little tiny habit and your tiny habit has to be something small and doable. First of all, my first thing that I do every day, and I learned this from Dr. Fogg who is the creator of the Tiny Habits book and that's where I got certified, is when my feet hit the floor in the morning, I then say it's going to be a great day and I give myself a thumbs up or I do a little dance and I celebrate. And that is my tiny habit for setting myself up for success. And throughout the day I'm like, oh, this is a great day and I keep saying that but ultimately it started in the morning by creating that mindset and it's not big, right? I'm not writing a whole big journal about it and I'm not jumping and doing a lot of different things but just telling myself that and celebrating. So again, this is how you can create a little bit of happiness with just a little tiny habit. So stay tuned for more and thank you. See you tomorrow for another episode. I'm here all week. P.S. Today we have a longer bonus episode where I chat with Julie DeLucca-Collins, and it is so inspiring. She is an example of someone who lives in her core value of breathing confidence into women when they can't always see it for themselves and it is magic. Transcript: Katie: Welcome to Everyday Happiness where we create lasting happiness in about two minutes a day through my signature method of intentional margins, (creating harmony between your to-dos and your priorities), happiness, science and musings about life. I'm your host, Katie Jefcoat, and today this is a bonus episode because I get to chat with my dear friend, Julie DeLucca Collins. She's a business and life strategy coach and she's certified in tiny habits. And I know you are going to love what we're going to talk about today and you are going to love what she's going to share with you over the next five days because it's all about happiness habits. Julie, welcome to Everyday Happiness. Julie: Thank you Katie Jefcoat. Thank you so much for having me. I love that I'm on your podcast. This is my regular weekly, daily rotation. So thrilled. Oh, my God, it's going to be weird. I'm going to have to hear myself in your podcast. Katie: It's going to be amazing and it's going to be so much fun. I'm so glad that you are here. You have always been one of my biggest fans and biggest cheerleaders in getting this message out to people that could use a little boost in their happiness. Julie: Absolutely. And by the way, I was telling somebody earlier this week, I said, you know, one of the gifts of the Pandemic is Katie Jefcoat, because she's one of the first people I met through the pandemic. And if you're not looking at the pandemic as the thing that gave you a gift, go back and rather than looking at it as a white wall, go and find all of the gifts that came from that and you're definitely one of them for me. Katie: Oh, my gosh, I love that so much. And the feeling is absolutely mutual. So if you can remember, tell our listeners a little bit about how we met because it's not in real life. Julie: It's not in real life. Even though you live in an area where I lived, I lived in the DMV area and I love it. And if I had to move out of Connecticut and it wouldn't be New York, it would be that area. But we met through a mutual friend, Keatha, and she is an incredible podcaster and weight loss coach doing some wonderful, wonderful things in the world. But when I launched my podcast Casa DeConfidence during the pandemic, she said, you have to have my friend Katie on the show. And I said, yes, absolutely. And we got on the phone and the first thing you said to me is, what is lighting your hair on fire? And I'm like, what? Oh, my God, I don't even know what to say to that. And I loved it. And I said, this is my person. This is someone that I love because this is just something that is unusual. It will always make me remember her. But it's true. Something has got to be lighting your hair on fire. And that's a great way to get to know someone. I loved our first conversation, and I invited you to the Casa DeConfidence show and you taught me about Intentional Margins®, which, by the way, I use that a lot when I'm talking to my clients and I'll say “Katie Jefcoat says you must create Intentional Margins®”. And, yeah, we've just been collaborating. I joined your community and you have been one of these people that we come alongside of each other, doing life as business besties and doing the work. And anytime that I have a question or a thought, I know that I can always pick up the phone and say, hey, Katie, what do you think of this? Or you'll catch up with me and catch me up. What are you working on? And we really bounce things off of each other. And if you want happiness in the world, I think that you really need to surround yourself with the people that make you better, that grow you, that are aligned with your values. And ultimately, the African proverb I've been saying this a lot, but the African proverb that says “if you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together”. And this -- you are one of those people that I'm going far with. So I love it. Katie: Oh, my gosh, I love that too.I love it so much. I love cheering on other people that are doing things that they are passionate about and you have the exact same philosophy. So just meeting was so much fun. And then we've really been steadfast in our connection and walking this path together. So, it lights my hair on fire just to have you in my life. It's so much fun. And we get to test all the things that are going on and be like, does this sound right? Can I have a gut check? Julie: Yeah, for sure. And I think that you need that in life and if you don't have it, start to be open to the idea and also be open to meeting new people and it's going to be a little uncomfortable. When you first get on a phone call with someone you don't know, but ask a friend, hey, if you're very cool, who else do you know that's very cool and who can I connect with? And connection is so important. Katie: Oh, my gosh, I cannot agree more. First, behavioral contagion, right? We really do mimic the behaviors of others, so if we're all elevating, that always helps. And social connection is one of the keystones to happiness. Oh, my gosh, all the things I love so much. So if you could share with me a little bit about you, where you started, what you're up to, what's going on in your world, because it feels like it's all the magic. Julie: Well, if anybody checks me up online, the first thing they'll probably see is that I'm a business and life strategy coach. But I didn't start here. I started out as a teacher and then I moved to work in corporate America, still in education, and I grew through the ranks of a company, a national company, in education. And I loved it and they gave me some great opportunities and they had a philosophy of building their team from within and they really invested in training and growing individuals to grow into the seats of their executives. And I was so fortunate to be there. I learned a lot when it came to starting a new business line. I came in as a little corporate coordinator for one of the VPs and eventually I took over. He didn't leave the company, but I took over that job. I was the VP or Executive Director first for the partnerships that we did with school districts nationwide. But the great thing about this company is that they taught all of us and their executives about marketing, they taught us about operations, development, how to be able to be a very well rounded individual growing a business. And I loved it. And then I got to take that experience into another company where I ended my career. I was there for twelve years. My last role was Chief Innovation Officer for the company and I oversaw all of the contracting and work that we did with school districts nationwide as well. I helped to expand the company out of New York into Texas, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, and we continue to do work and expand the support systems that we created for school districts, for students, for teachers and administrators. And I loved it. But there was one piece for me that I always felt really called and passionate about. Although education is definitely something that I'm passionate about, helping kids and families was great and I love supporting teachers because I had been in that seat. I also knew that I wanted to help women because as I climbed the corporate ladder, I started to see that there weren't a lot of women, the higher you got, number one. Number two, if they were, and I talk about this in my book because I wrote a book through the pandemic, and that was one of the gifts of the pandemic again from me. Not every woman has been trained or is open to the idea of being supportive. So I wanted to create and listen. I'm guilty. I think that in the very beginning I wasn't as supportive and loving and kind and mentoring as I should have been as an executive. And that's one of the things that I started to do is I started to realize that I wanted to rectify, that I wanted to create an environment in which I help other women build the confidence that they needed either to grow their careers or to become a better version of themselves or to start a business. And many women who are starting businesses don't know where to start, what to do, first, second or third. And when I was laid off through the pandemic, another one of my gifts the pandemic gave me, I knew exactly this is what I was going to do. I was going to start my own business, and I was going to do the type of work that supported women specifically to become more confident in their life and business and become the CEO of their life and business. I wanted to be able to breathe the belief into them, that somebody and so many other women have done for me, have given me that ability to grow, be a better version of myself, and become successful at achieving my dreams. So Go Confidently Services was born out of that. And I launched the podcast Casa DeConfidence, and that was something that my husband sort of put on my plate. He said, hey, you're going to start a podcast. And I was like, Why? He's like, Because you're not having a birthday party. We're in a pandemic. And I was having a big birthday. And I'm like, what? What do you mean? And that kind of put my energy out of planning or being in that slump of not doing the things that I thought I was going to be doing all of a sudden just growing and creating a platform where people like yourself can come in and talk about what is your journey to confidence. Because I think that in a world where social media rules, we see everybody's high points and we are not seeing that. You know, we don't always have it together. And that was one thing that people would say, you're too confident. Look at you growing, getting a promotion, doing great things. But I don't always have it together. And the thing that helps me show up and have it together when I don't feel like it is habits, and that's what I fall back on. Katie: Oh, my gosh, I love this so, so much. I cannot wait to get into your five episodes on happiness habits. It's going to be magic. You also are really an example of breathing life into people and really helping them secure a vision and clarity around how to grow a business, if that's what they want, or how to manage life. You know, you have workshops that you do every so often where you can really dive in with other individuals. Usually there's some offer on Zoom, so I encourage listening to make you follow Julie DeLucca-Collins so that when she does offer something again, you'll know about it. TwoSistas welcomed to today's podcast on this WealthWellnessWednesday, Julie DeLucca-Collins. Julie is the Founder and CEO of Go Confidently Services and the host of the popular Casa DeConfidence Podcast®. As a Business and Life Strategist Coach, Julie helps women business owners launch or grow their businesses, get clients, be productive, and achieve their dreams. Julie helps her clients create simple habits to achieve goals and change lives. Julie is also the best-selling author of the newly released book Confident You (simple habits to live the life you've imagined). As many of us have experienced, Julie was laid off at the start of the pandemic. She reflected on her many experiences in corporate America. Always bound by the love she had for the education industry, she decided to start her coaching business. (She also reflected on when she was a young girl and wanted to redefine the normalization that women and young girls often feel.) Beyond the fear and experiencing and exploring new effective ways to communicate, Julie (and not that you would actually know that she recently turned 50 years old) ventured to further redefine the stigma often felt when faced with uncertainty when she was laid off during the pandemic. She shares her in-depth knowledge from corporate America, being on the State of Connecticut Governor's Advisory Board for Women and Girls, and of course, having been in the education industry, her coaching business is so much more - she LOVES being an entrepreneur and coaching others to do the same! Julie is a sought-after public speaker trainer and course creator. She is certified as a CBT and Holistic Coach. She was honored to complete her certification as a Tiny Habits Coach under Dr. BJ Fogg the founder of the Behavioral Lab at Stamford University and the author of the book Tiny Habits. Thank you so much Julie! You are truly an amazing guest and we so appreciated you being our guest today and the “adopted” “Sista” on this WealthWellnessWednesday! It sounds scary - each of us knows firsthand. Each in business together and with our separate business endeavors, we truly LOVE what we do; even if we are challenged with tech issues (as we were today) - don't let that stop you!! Move forward with that same passion each and every day!! What will you do each and every day without fail? Create those “tiny habits”! Let us know what you thought of today's episode. In today's episode Julie is coming in live from location in Tennessee. She has been attending the women's successful living PJ retreat where she got to be a speaker and have a grand old time with other incredible women. Julie Ask some of the incredible speakers at the retreat to join her for a quick conversation with Dan.Check out the incredible speakers and Julie's Instagram post. Being a mom can be a challenge! Juggling work, life, and raising a family is a full-time job…more like three full-time jobs. Add on the fact that many assume that parenting is inherent…when it's actually confusing, scary, and downright difficult! Today, we are addressing that in our newest podcast guest, Dr. Kristen Cook. Kristen is a pediatrician, mommy, wife, author, and a strong believer that parents can change the world. She began her journey by graduating Summa Cum Laude from Marquette University with a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences and a minor in Psychology. She then went to Creighton University Medical School, where she earned her Medical Doctor's degree and graduated with honors. After medical school, she spent three years in a pediatric residency program at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. Now, Kristen has been in private practice for the past 11 years and has had the honor of providing high-quality medical care to tens of thousands of children during my career. One of the coolest parts Kristen mentioned was that many of her former patients have grown up, had babies, and now have her as a second-generation pediatrician. Kristen believes that no matter your background, no matter your past, every single parent can develop the tools and the skills that they need to not only be a great parent but the best version of themselves as well. If you are looking to improve your parenting skills, to improve your life, or if you simply want to understand that you are not alone on your parenting journey, please check out our latest Casa DeConfidence Podcast! "What We Think, We Become." - BuddhaThese wise words are the favorite quote of our latest Casa DeConfidence Podcast feature, Rachael Amarante! Rachael is a mother of four young boys and the creator of The Awakening Motherhood Project. Are you a mom? Mothers carry the weight of their family's physical and emotional needs every moment of every day. When women become mothers, their branding becomes who they are. It's much more than a job title or responsibility; it is suddenly everything. Literally all the things. But what if we could look at motherhood differently? What if motherhood wasn't all that you are? That is where Rachael comes in! In her business, she shares simple, actionable ways to find joy and confidence in the chaos of our lives, including recipes, tips, and ways to conquer the hard stuff in motherhood. She believes our behaviors and relationships with ourselves, our food, and our communities mold the way our children view the world. We love Rachael's work because it is not meant to be daunting, or another pressure added to our plates. As Rachael says, “It is a powerful privilege to create the future. We can do that together.”We hope that you will join us this week in welcoming Rachael and all mothers to the podcast!Connect with Rachael here: https://www.instagram.com/rachael_amarante/https://www.facebook.com/rachael.amarante.3www.theawakeningmotherhoodproject.comhttps://www.pinterest.com/TheAwakeningMotherhoodProject/_saved/Support the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/CasaDConfidence)

Happy Birthday to Casa DeConfidence! Welcome to a special episode of the Casa DeConfidence Podcast. On today's show, we celebrate our 1st Birthday. Today we look back at our first year as a podcast. We have had some incredible guests join us at our Casa DeConfidence. Many of these individuals have shared their unique journeys with us. We have learned so much from our guest: Valerie Hager taught us the concept of being "believing mirrors" for one another. This concept is from the book Women Who Run With the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype. From Katie Jeffcoat, we learned about Intentional Margins®, she is still running the coziest coffee shop on the internet, and I love that she is my friend IRL now. Most of our guests have shared their moms have been the biggest inspiration in their life. I love hearing that the most demanding job on earth of being a mom continues to impact so many lives. Speaking of MOMs, Dr. Laura Jagget continues to help others by teaching them 'How to Life' in her Mommanars on her Podcast and Youtube channel. Some of our guests have become dear friends. Mindy and the Passionistas, Nancy, and Amy. Melissa Myers, a great supporter of the show, and Claudia Taboada and Michelle Cunningham have also written new books since being on the show. During this year, we hosted some of my mentors, like Corinne Crabtree from the NoBS Weightloss Program and Lauren D'Angelo, who helped me get certified as a yoga teacher. During this episode, we also made a few major announcements: We have officially launched a standalone website for the podcast. You can now find all things Casa DeConfidence atCasaDeConfidencePod.comWe are also launching a unique membership site just for Casa Insiders. This membership will bring you exclusive content like more episodes of Peaceful You, exclusive extended interviews with our guest, "Ask Julie and Dan," Live episodes, and more. Your invitation to join us will be coming to your inbox soon. Lastly, we want to THANK YOU for being a loyal listener and helping us make this year one of the most memorable ones in our lives.
