Jesse Crosson: After 19 years in prison,  I got a second chance... In 2002, I found cocaine. Combined with alcohol and insecurity I quickly went from a kid graduating high school to strung out and barely hanging on. Just after my 18th birthday I committed a robbery and separate shooting. I was rightly arrested and remember feeling a huge sense of relief that someone had stopped me because I hadn't been able to stop myself. The upper range of the sentencing guideline was 16 years. The judge sentenced me to double that, 32 years.  I was crushed. But I got back up. With the benefit of great love and support, I put my life together in prison. I mentored other men, earned a Bachelor's degree, became a journeyman electrician, wrote articles for publication and found a way forward. Website: https://jessecrosson.com/ Second Chancer Foundation: Each year in America more than 600,000 people are released from state and federal prison. Millions serve shorter periods in local jails. After release, they return to incarceration at one of the highest rates in the world. Periods of incarceration do little to address the issues and unmet needs that often lead people to prison in the first place and often add further trauma. We seek to humanize the experience of reentry and drive both awareness and resources toward the process. This benefits the individuals as well as society at large. The world is much better served when people are out working, acting as parents and siblings, paying taxes and contributing to their communities. This month, Cody is taking part in Great Cycle Challenge and pedaling throughout September to kick cancer's butt! Why? Because cancer is the largest killer of kids in the U.S. – on average, 38 kids die of cancer every week. This is horrible. Kids should be living live, not fighting for it! Cancer has taken too many lives and robbed too many kids of their childhood... And frankly, cancer needs to be dealt with once and for all. So I'm pedaling 500 miles this month to give cancer a good old-fashioned butt-kicking to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve. My goal is to raise $2,600 through my challenge... But I need your support. Can you sponsor me to help me kick cancer's butt? Simply click the link below to view my profile page and make a donation: https://greatcyclechallenge.com/Riders/CodyMarshall All funds raised will support Children's Cancer Research Fund to continue their work in developing innovative treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer. When we're done, cancer will have nightmares... about us. And when you donate, you can also leave a message on my page about how badly you also want to kick cancer's butt. The time has come! We must rally the troops, come together, and help out one of the kindest, most genuine souls around. For those who don't know, Mike was involved in a severe speedflying accident in April that required him to be hospitalized for over a month. He broke most of the bones in his face, fractured his skull, incurred a TBI, broke his wrist, fractured his pelvis, shattered his kneecap, and broke his tibia. Mike was airlifted off the mountain and taken to the nearest hospital, where he received excellent emergency care. Now, he is back in the USA and recovering from his injuries. With time, he is expected to make a full recovery. Mike was insured, but insurance will not cover everything: lost wages, living costs, travel back to the U.S., all the necessary rehab, and all the other costs associated with recovering from such severe injuries. If you know Mike, you know he is one of the most generous people. He has always been there for others; now it's time for us to be there for him. Please consider donating and sharing this page to relieve some of the financial stress from this already stressful situation. If you cannot donate now, please share this page.
