To mark the first day of vacation, Jeff Caldwell, extremely jet lagged after a day of travel and two nights of little sleep, took a surfing lesson and broke his big toe by jumping off the board straight onto shallow reef. Rather than spend hours in a waiting room, he returned to their rental house, found an emergency medical kit, taped his big toe to the one next to it, and crammed his foot into a shoe as if it were a cast. He had hoped to be done with shoes for the week, but flip-flops were now out of the question. | Copyright 2021 by Marc Laidlaw. Narrated by Stefan Rudnicki, Judy Young.

On this episode, we are introduced to the newest GM in the league, Jeff Caldwell, GM of the Portland Buckaroos. Boston Colonials GM Gary Graves and I also discuss this years SICHL Awards.
I'll let these famous people give comedian, Jeff Caldwell's intro:Dennis Miller - "This guy is incredible!"Craig Ferguson - "Very funny!"George Carlin - "Funny and Smart!"David Letterman - "Very, very funny!"Jeff is such an approachable person. Kind to everyone, this comedian believes that humor is best when commonalities are found and that the stage is not a preferred platform for exclusions or bullying. Known to other comedians as "The Stand Up Guy" - Jeff is JUST that. During the podcast, we discuss the similarities of both stand up and comic acting. In this career we all have to deal with disappointment, but when the Paramount and CBS sitcom that centers around you as the main character (and Bob Newhart as your dad) falls through, getting back up on the horse again is more than difficult. His wife, Kathy who worked for Lorne Michaels grounds him and proves to be an excellent sounding board for jokes before he ever says them in front of an audience. He has toured with Jon Stewart, and worked with Rosie O'Donnell and Lewis Black (to name a few and believe me ther are many more!) When we stopped recording the episode, I asked what was for dinner. Well, Jeff had eaten a tomato (from his garden) sandwich with Hellman's before he logged on and I quickly challenged him that his next sandwich MUST be made with Duke's or he wasn't really living. I promised to send him a jar and Jeff, it's in the mail!I hope you enjoy Jeff's down-to-earth humor and the rapport he quickly establishes to anyone who is lucky enough to chat with him! Keep up with this Jeff on FB, Twitter and Instagram so when this crazy quarantine is over...you can see him on the stage where he very definitely belongs!

When Melissa met Jeff Cantwell online, the two connected immediately. He was friendly, well spoken and shared her love of the outdoors. Jeff told Melissa stories of the daunting hikes he'd completed and shared the tragic loss of his family in a car accident. But these were just stories: In reality, Jeff “Cantwell” was Jeff Caldwell, a con man who'd spent decades ripping off members of the close-knit outdoor community.
Jeff Caldwell, of Leawood, is the Libertarian candidate for Kansas governor. His platform is based on free market economics. In addition to the full legalization of marijuana, he wants to exempt food and water from a burdensome sales tax rate that reaches 10 percent in some areas.

We did it. You did it. I did it. It was done. What is IT? 100 episodes! Woo hoo! This episode of the School Of Laughs podcast is brought to you by Chelle Baxter, Peter Margaritas, Sandi Joy Chadwick and John Charlton - thanks! It is crazy to think that a couple of years ago we started this journey together. When we did, I had no idea that we would make it to 100 episodes of the School Of Laughs podcast. I hoped to. Just didn't know if it was going to be something I could pull off. What a ride! With help from Gavin Miller, the ball got rolling and rolling and ... I've learned a lot! Hopefully you have as well. We've listened to jokes go from the brainstorming phase to the stage. We've talked with Letterman comics like Jeff Caldwell, Keith Alberstadt and Andy Hendrickson. We heard from Tonight Show regular Nate Bargatze and his dad Stephen. Comedy Central comedians Robert Mac, Luis Ramey and Pat McGann also shared insights. Seasoned veterans Jeff Jena, Jeff Allen and Dan Swartout also shared many golden nuggets of information about becoming a comedian. We also heard from folks who write for TV like Martha Bolton and Scott Dunn. We learned booking tips from Tim Grable and Midwest Clean Comedy. We know now what it takes to record a CD, and a DVD as well as how to put on your own shows. Former students (Monty Mitchell, Jonnie W., Brian Bates, Chris Cherry, Mike James, and Paulina Combow) stopped by to share their successes. WOW. So where do we go from here? The plan is to continue for the next three months and see if there is enough interest and support through PATREON (see below) to continue. If so, we will lock in for another full year. If not, we will ride on into the sunset and sleep well knowing we gave it our all. On today's episode, I reflect back on the past year and what lies ahead. Specifically, I talk about: The Broken record Comedy Show with Chad Riden Listener feedback emails from YOU the listener What it takes to put together a podcast My favorite episodes from the first 100 We check in with Gavin Miller And a lot more. Thank you so much for listening and I hope to continue to provide you with beneficial information and tactical strategies for becoming BIGGER, BETTER and MORE BOOKABLE! Support the podcast through PATREON A listener recently told me about Patreon and I totally love this concept. In a nutshell, in exchange for a small RECURRING monthly donation of your choice, you gain access to many extra opportunities to interact with the show. My favorite bonus is our very own, private “School Of Laughs Patreon News Feed”. Think of it as a Facebook page without all the drama. In this feed I will post exclusive articles, bonus podcasts and more. And of course, you will be invited to share ideas and support other listeners of the show! The funds would help offset the costs associated with time incurred producing the show, and at the same time give you more of what I believe you find valuable. It's up to you as far as the amount. We average 4 episodes a month and are hoping you feel like the information is worth at least $1.25 a show. So, a monthly pledge of $5 is our hope. More is great, less is still helpful. If we reach the target of 200 patrons (which is just a fraction of the overall listener downloads per episode), I think we would be on track to continue the production of the show and creating opportunities for you to grow as a performer and see definite returns on your support. In short, I want to continue to provide the podcast and reach out to bigger names, more helpful comics and incredible resources. Please VISIT www.SchoolOfLaughs.com/Patreon or www.Patron.com/SchoolOfLaughs to find out more.

On this May 30th, 2013 edition, John Bush, the Executive Director at the Center For Natural Living joins us, along with Kansas Libertarian activist Jeff Caldwell.
During this episode of Comical Radio Classic, Danny Lobell and Chris Iacono are joined by Calise Hawkins on the third mic. Danny and Calise have been friends for years and he used to have the hots for her; they clear up their awkward tension right from the start. The first guest is Jeff Caldwell. They talk about everything from Port Authority to the good ol’ days. Jeff recommends that Chris opens his heart and writes from there. The second guest was Julie Goldman. Even though she called in, the crew google imaged her and let her know how attractive they thought she was. Chris truly believes there are just way too many nail salons. Bobby Slayton joined the show as the third guest. He wastes no time telling Danny not to speak and he goes on a rant about his dislike of hasidic jews. Chris and Danny surprise Bobby Slayton as he’s on air with his neighbor Christopher Titus. Christopher Titus tells a story about how he met Bruce Springsteen. The last guest of the day was Louie Katz. The crew played a game with Louie where they took the bad notes from the interns and asked Louie bizarre questions.
