Eureka John‘s raw experiences in the crypto world. News, nonsense, and overall absurdity with a touch of education.
In this episode I explore a couple of niche apps. One is whal3s.xyz which is an app to easily create webhooks to give you notification for on-chain events. The other is mean.finance, a decentralized way to DCA (dollart cost average) your crypto investments away from centralized exhanges. Sources: https://www.whal3s.xyz/ https://mean.finance/
Good morning! In this episode I briefly cover a rough definition of the concepts behind decentralized ID. With the movement of our identities and lives into the digital space in the last 10 or so years, we have come to a fork in the road. Will all our info be centralized and as a result surveilled and controlled? Or are we doing to decentralize and make anonymous our information to maintain our sovereignty? I define zk-proofs and then take a look at a project called Holonym.io that uses zk-proofs and a mixer to create an anonymous online digital passport. In this episode I ramble a bit about the recent great crypto crash and why I am still here. Then I poke around a fun web3 reputation tool called Noox.World. https://noox.world/
In this episode I poke around Mastodon with Crystal Street from JournoDAO. Skip ahead to the 16:00 minute mark to jump ahead of my rambling to get to the part where I am speaking with Crystal
In this amazing interview I speak with Joshua Scigala about money, bitcoin, DeFi, Gold, inflation, usury, the founding of his Gold/BTC exchange Vaultoro.com and the new stablecoin project launch called TheStandard.io. A DAO-based project that creates over-collateralised stablecoins backed by Gold, Bitcoin and Ethereum. This lending platform will eliminate the interest model of lending and be an improved version version of DeFi inspired by MakerDAO. https://vaultoro.com/ https://www.thestandard.io/ https://twitter.com/JScigala
Here's another epic rant where I talk about the shilling in the crypto space, DAO motivations, decentralized journalism, data ownership and how our data is food for AI. Will AI be our masters forcing us into a predestined fate? Or will we control our data as the food for AI and thus be the owners of our own free will and destiny? Good morning! Happy to be finally making an episode for myself as it has been less frequent lately. Not a bad thing, just means I am busy helping other projects and DAO in the web3 ecosystem. In this episode I reflect on how journalism and web3 can get to know each other and the tools that journalists can use to apply web3 to the mass amounts of information being thrown at them. Web3 can help journalists with: Immutability Transparency New business models Community ownership Decentralization Security / Trustless Communications Please don't take me too seriously. Do you own homework and see what works for you. Also my opinions do not reflect the JournoDAO as a whole. The JournoDAO is a diverse set of individuals, each with their own ideas and opinions. In this episode I speak with Mike Rabinovici on the subject of accredited investing. Is the status of being an accredited investor just another glass ceiling that perpetuates inequality and creates a glass ceiling? Or does it protect the innocent from all the scams that run rampant in the newly emerging web3 space? Mike sheds light on the terms and the current situation in the web3 space regarding this subject. We also zoom out and look at how this affects topics such as web3 ID and DAOs. You can find Mike on Discord in the BanklessDAO server at ComeBackKid#3480 Twitter: @mikerabinovici
Good morning! Lately I have seen alot of talk and hype about the Cult DAO and the REVOLT 2 EARN protocol. The way it was describe to be was as an anonymous decentralized venture capital project. I barely know what venture capitalism is and what those people do. I have never had the luxury of having enough money or being around people with enough money to even have a conversation about venture capitalism. So I basically ignored it. But when Revolt to Earn came through Cult DAO as a way to independently help finance revolutionaries in a decentralized way outside of an impending social credit system, I began to pay attention and stated to understand. In this episode I fumble through the website and read some of the material that explain the ideology behind it. I do not really go into the tokenomics or technical specifics of it as that would have taken another entire episode to cover. Maybe I will make a follow up episode in the future on that type of stuff. But I wanted to at least get the Cult DAO name out there and let people know that there are others out there who want to build an alternate system and economy outside of the system of slavery that the elites want us in through their CBDC and Great Reset. Good morning! This morning I read an article written by Orca Protocol. The article defines and lays out the distinction between Socialware vs Trustware. This distinction brought a more philosophical question to mind for me. Are we trying to automate trust out of human organization? What will that mean for society? For our psyches? Is this automation of trust even good for us as humans? Is this another way that robots and AI are taking over our world rendering us helpless? As humans, do we NEED trust as part of life much like we need the seemingly valueless and impractical concept of beauty? I know the article was leading to a conversation about efficiency in DAOs but for me, it took me down a philosophical rabbit hole or questions about our very existence. Good morning! This morning I explore the concept of data ownership and biometric data that is gathered to create inferred knowledge. We are at the point where biometric passive data is being gathered in massive volume. All of this data is being processed by AI and machine learning algorithms. Inside these neural networks, even our best and brightest do not know what is going on inside the "brain" of AI. We just know the outcome is true. To me, this seems to bring us back full circle in the old faith vs science debate. We also are being conned into just giving away our data and, in essence, our souls and personalities to tech behemoths who are making billions from us while we get nothing except the ability to browse social media or play some stupid phone game in exchange. It's time to take back that data ownership, make money from our data if we would like and decide who gets to buy that data. All of this and more is what the folks at Re-Public.io are doing. Make data a common good again. Or in other words make data "Re-Public"! Good morning! I woke up this morning to all types of news about Tornado Cash being criminalized in the United States. Tornado Cash is a tool people in crypto can use to mix their transactions with others to add a layer of privacy to their financial dealings. People should have every right to this privacy much like people in the 90's had every right to privacy on their computers when the government was trying to impose a clipper chip back door on everyone's PC's. Also, Tornado Cash is decentralized and open source. Open source code is free speech! The U.S. government decided to crack down on the privacy Tornado Cash offers as a tool. They have created a list of people who have used or use it to monitor them and penalize anyone who interacts with those on the list. Sounds a bit like like Big Red Mother Russia, right? Also, there are companies like Elliptic that can do chainalysis and uncover the trail of would-be hackers using Tornado Cash. So this isn't really about Tornado Cash, is it? Tornado Cash as a tool for money laundering is just the reason (excuse) to chew away further our dwindling rights to privacy. In this video I follow a stream of consciousness about this topic. Good morning! This Saturday morning I reflect on why people, and often times even myself, can't stand crypto and web3. From rug pulls to bad user experience (UX) design, it seems like we have taken a step back in the name of lofty philosophical ideals of independence and financial autonomy. Web 2 is soooooo easy! But convenience is the tool of those who want total control and power. So how do we get around the difficulty that web3 and the desire for sovereignty bring us? This difficulty has let in the grifters and scammers to prey on those who are having difficulty learning the web3 language and interface. Well, first of all, we need to call it out and admit that we are chasing people away and turning people off with our smug commands to DYOR (do your own research)! After that, we need to figure out how we can make it so ANYONE can use web3. The steps are being laid and the article I read in the 2nd half by Samantha J. Marin of Bankless DAO states the problem and solution in the most accurate way I can think of. Thanks Samantha! Good morning! After rambling and beign side-track by the Island Boyz token project for a bit, (fast-forward to 10:00 min mark) I do a little DIY run-through of new L1 AI-driven blockchain called Libonomy ($LBY). This layer one blockchain uses a consensus engine called Aphelion that is driven by artificial intelligence and machine learning. The AI accepts nodes into the network, surveys the characteristics of the node and assigns them the most well-suited job inside the consensus network. This Aphelion consensus engine can be plugged into just about any blockchain. It's use in Libonomy is the first of its kind. This show is by far not a comprehensive look at Libonomy and Aphelion, but it is at least a start to get the word in your vocabulary and a place from which you can start your own research. Good morning! This morning is a short, and easy episode. I mainly just wanted to test out a new audio configuration. I have been trying to troubleshoot the audio issue in the past several episodes and I finally think I got it all fixed. Anyway, this episode is about the old fake file extension scam/virus. This is a scam/virus that names a file a .pdf fil in the file name, but in reality the file is a .exe fil or .scr file. This was a common trojan horse virus method several years ago. It is now making a resurgence with artists and content creators entering into the web3 space. Be careful about people sending you zip files or pdf files to show you their portfolio, slide show, branding guidelines, etc... Even if you know the person, ask if they have opened the file on their machine and where they got the file. Source: https://twitter.com/Serpent/status/1540770171069276160
Good morning! This morning I go over a report by Trail of Bits commissioned by DARPA to look for vulnerabilities in crypto, specifically Bitcoin and Ethereum. A friend of mine brought this Trail of Bits podcast to my attention that talks about this report and the findings that Bitcoin and Ethereum are not as nearly decentralized as their communities claim them to be and go on to state lots of reasons why. I was a bit concerned as the podcast and the article did indeed work on me. However, I went on to find a counter-article by Swan Bitcoin that brought to light the incorrect and misleading claims made by Trail of Bits. I have it all linked below and I will let you decide. But I will ask you, who has the greater motive for crypto to be found incompetent? It ain't the crypto community. Good morning! This morning is all about Mt Gox. Apparently the entities behind the Mt Gox hack implosion settlement have announced that they will be releasing 150k BTC onto the market beginning in August. What does this mean for BTC and the market? Is this a Black Swan event or a buying opportunity? But first of all, what is Mt Gox? The crypto world has a ton of internal jargon and significant events that have happened that no one else really knows about and when we talk about it, it can be hard for outsiders to understand. Good morning! In this episode I end up talking alot about 0xSifu and how he was welcomed back to the Wonderland community after being expelled several months ago. Not only was he welcomed back, but he got a proposal passed to pump $25 million into his project Sifu Vision that he launched while in exile. Sifu Vision uses the $SIFU token to track the portfolio of 0xSifu. There's not much more to it. Good morning! This morning I explore a meme I found on LinkedIn that showed a Venn Diagram composed of web3, crypto, and blockchain. The meme was meant to visualize the three separate entities that are yet blended together. A holy trinity of sorts. With people making distinctions between web3 and web 3.0, I thought this meme was interesting; especially when you throw AI and iOT in there. Good morning! This episode ended up being mainly about Coinbase. Goldman Sachs slapped a "Sell" rating on $COIN. Is Coinbase doomed to slide into insolvency with this downward crypto draft we are having? Is all of this manipulated by the institutional investors to kick out the amateurs and bring in the big players with regulatory certainty? Will Goldman Sachs knock down the price of Coinbase and come in an come in and scoop it up cheaply later? Binance seems to be gaining BTC activity while Coinbase is proportionally losing it. Coinbase seems to be in big trouble. However... Mastercard has just adopted crypto into it's system and is calling Coinbase the place "designed to make crypto more accessible and help the NFT ecosystem keep growing, innovating and bringing in more fans." So which one is it? What are your thoughts? Either way, now is not the time to be letting your money sit on centralized exchanges. Get your crypto off exchanges and into private wallets! Good morning! This morning I go through a CryptoSlate article that coevrs the current issue of Bancor freezing their impermanent loss protection service. This service, along with their tempting rewards are why many people jumped participating into Bancor's DEX LP's in the first place. Two of these participants are most likeley Celsius and 3AC who are going through a death spiral themselves. Their death spiral is possibly causing havoc on Bancor's liquidity along with an anonymous large shorter of the BNT token. Bancor is shutting off deposits and pausing impermanent loss protection while they strategize how to best resolve the situation. Is this all a shell game or an honest and ethical pause? ****Note: I said Ford S10. I meant Chevy S10! But I think you got the idea hopefully. Good morning! First up until the 12:00 minute mark, listen to me ramble on about Celsius and how they are being investigated. I received an e-mail from the Texas State Securities Board asking me to complete a survey on my dealings with Celsius. Sounds like they are in hot water. I hope I am not. Probably not, but hey, something to consider. Good morning! As I meander around on my morning news dump, I talk about the recent Harmony Horizon Bridge hack of over $100 million. Good morning! This morning I speak about voting in DAOs. DAOs have notoriously low participation in voting as well as people that just speculate on the governance tokens. This has been an issue lots of communities have been trying to solve. This issue even applies to the large-scale apathy we see in our nation-wide voting today. In this episode I go over a prototype of a voting system being developed by Re-Public.io. The idea is that a DAO gives the members voting tokens that are non-transferable soulbound tokens. In order to claim these tokens, they must be delegated. What makes it original, is that on top of needing to be delegated, you can delegated to someone based on proposal topic and to a person who specializes in that topic category. For example, if I know Keith is good at software development, and a proposal is about a a proposed software upgrade, I am going to delegate my votes to Keith on that proposal because I don't know jack squat about software. Hopefully this type of liquid democracy can wrangle people from apathy or just speculation back into the voting process. Good morning! Normally, I don't pay attention to what's going on with the Tron ecosystem and especially not the USDD decentralized stablecoin. In fact, I had never even heard of it until a few days ago. But with all the fear whipped up from the collapse of the Terra ecosystem, there are now rumors that Tron could do the same thing. Good morning! In this episode I take a gander at Gitcoin Grants and a couple of projects I donated to using a concept called quadratic funding. It is a way to donate to make sure that everyone's vote/donation matters. There is more weight put on the amount of different people donating to a project than one large donor. This way, large donors are not able to manipulate outcomes just because they have to cash power. There is a pool of funds donated by larger organizations that match individual contributors. when lots of little contributors donate a little bit to a project, that project receives more of the pool funds than if one single large rich and powerful contributor put in one large donation. It is a cool way to make doing a little turn out to be alot. Good morning! This morning I just wanted to hop on and do a video talking about all the FUD going on lately in the crypto market. Hold strong. Don't forget why we are here. Not to get rich quick, but to be financially independent anchors for our families and for those who rely on us. Good morning! This morning I am discussing DAO, web3 work, equality, and getting paid for your work. I highlight Brandon0x's path to DAO's and I got the chance to speak with Infinite Homie who is a fellow BanklessDAO member who has taken the reigns in operations for CryptoSapiens and the Podcast Hatchery. She provided some valuable insight into reality vs the theory when it comes to DAOs. Good morning! This morning I talk about my current state of unemployment due to my decision to quit my stable mundane job and jump into the crypto space at the worst possible time in the history of crypto. I take this opportunity with everything that is going on with the market crash and with the Celsius collapse to learn all about rehypothecation and what that long word means! Hey, I'm just paying my tuition to the school of hard knocks! It will be worth it in the end. Good morning! I finally carved out some time to do a Eureka Street episode. In this episode I talk about how event though the market is down, crypto and web3 are still as strong as ever. The market is just shaking out all the chodes and crappy projects in the space. Then Jack Dorsey claims that web3 will die and that web5 is where it's at. Web5 is a decentralized internet and identity layer that will sit on top of Bitcoin. Is that even bitcoin anymore? Or is he trying to force bitcoin to become ethereum now? This is the third video in partnership with OpenCurrnt.io. I this video I go over what knowledge sharing is and some of the basics and differences of the web 2.0 social media algorithms vs the newer web3 approach. Web3 solves the contributor rewards issue, the centralization issue, and give the user the opportunity for governance on the platform. Web 2.0 just gathers your data and curates your data based on emotive response to capture your attention and then sell that attention to advertisers. OpenCurrnt.io is seeking to fix all of these issues. Good morning! This morning I read an article by Vitalik Buterin where he explores the concept, use cases and issues of soul bound tokens. I completely love the idea of being able to hold your college transcripts and degrees in your wallet as a non-transferable NFT. I love that the issuer does not retain permanent control over that data. However, there needs to be privacy a burning mechanism by the owner of the NFT. Otherwise, the soulbound token could have deep dystopian implications. This is the second video in partnership with OpenCurrnt.io where I go over some of the fundamentals of web 3.0. In this video I take a look at the concept of a DAO and how it got started. Then, I move on to how OpenCurrnt.io is creating their own version of a DAO. OpenCurrnt.io is a platform that is seeking to help people monetize and collaborate with others in a decentralized way that cuts out the centralized web 2.0 middleman. In this episode I talk about the latest update from The Infinite Machine Movie. This upcoming movie originated from a book written by Camila Russo called the Infinite Machine. It puts the history of Ethereum in story format and describes all the main actors in the origins of Ethereum. It was received wide success in the crypto world. It is now going to be made into a Hollywood film with Free Scott Productions being the company that will make it. They are the same company that made Aliens, Gladiator, and Blade Runner, so you know it will be a blockbuster. The difference is, is that this movie will be funded with NFTs to remain true tot he web 3 space from which it originated. This allows audience participation at many levels of the film. Good morning! In this episode 457, I read an article titled "Local Journalism is the Blockchain Security Model for Politics and Culture" written by Keith Axline of JournoDAO.xyz. He explains how the current model of journalism has become overtaken by a 51% attack by big business and corporations and decentralization is the key to bringing back unity and protecting local community values in journalism. This is the first video in partnership with OpenCurrnt.io where I go over some of the fundamentals of web 3.0. Quite often in my morning show videos I find myself spending a large amount of time explaining basic concepts for the audience and it seems to take a really long time to get to the point. I know I am guilty of rambling anyway, as that is just the way I am, but I thought it would help to make some video specifically covering the basics. OpenCurrnt.io is a platform that is seeking to help people monetize and collaborate with others in a decentralized way that cuts out the centralized web 2.0 middleman.
Good morning! This morning I attempted to look at the whole Bored Ape phenomenon. I gave my limited perspective on them. Personally, I don't understand all the fomo about this NFT project and the new metaverse launching around it, but what do I know? People seems to be paying big bucks to be a part of it. What do I know? Guess I'll just go clock in at work. Good morning! It is a casual morning for me. There is nothing really specific I highlight in this episode as I gloss over an article that talks about 7 key takeaways of Sergey Nazarov of Chainlink's interview with Ash Bennnington. It leads me to tangents and anecdotes. Good morning! Please excuse my long rant in the beginning. But hey, I do get alot of influence from morning radio shock-jock DJ's! I just needed to get fired up this morning to start my day. This morning I reflect on climate change, bitcoin mining FUD, power baseloads, energy districts, stranded energy, MintGreen.co green mining company, "green" Bitcoin and what that could look like. In this episode I interview Tom O'Malley, Founder of OpenCurrnt.io and CEO of Currnt.com. Here we discuss the knowledge gap and how to close it using web 3.0. An example of the knowledge gap is the disparity between the traditional institutions and the ground level of innovation that happens with everyday people in the online communities. How do you tap into the info that some person in an online community knows and be able to curate that knowledge to be used for product development and market research? Web 3.0 allows the creators of that knowledge to be able to share while still owning their ideas. OpenCurrnt.io is creating a platform to be able to facilitate this knowledge-sharing economy by allowing innovators to form DAOs and tokenize their ideas. In this interview Tom explains this very well. Discord: https://discord.gg/MTRBY5Nk https://opencurrnt.io/ https://opencurrnt.io/pdf/OpenCurrnt_Whitepaper.pdf https://currnt.com/
Good morning! This morning I ramble gloriously. I talk about Elon Musk and Twitter, decentralized and web 3 media, the word cheugie and the "cheugieness" of the .com URL's and where the .xyz domains came from to save the internet from "cheugieness". Good morning and happy SaTURDay! This morning I ramble on about how I am doing until the 14:42 mark. Then, I eventually get tp the point and talk about NFT and how they can be used for community gating, building, and special access to secret and paid content. I take a surface-level look at NFTPortal.xyz and Unlock Protocol.
