US EPA's Office of Research and Development (ORD) is sponsoring a presentation on electrokinetic (EK)-enhanced in situ remediation technologies that are available for addressing contaminants in low-permeability (low-k) subsurface environments where conventional hydraulic delivery technologies often face challenges. The presentation introduces ORD's recently published Engineering Issue Paper (EIP) on the technology. The primary author will present on EK technologies and provide insights to the user community on ways to best utilize the EIP. ORD's EIPs are a series of technology transfer documents that summarize the latest information on selected waste treatment and site remediation technologies and related issues and present it in a conveniently accessible manner to the user community. EIPs are designed to help remedial project managers (RPMs), on-scene coordinators (OSCs), contractors, and other contaminated sites technical staff and site managers understand the type of data and site characteristics that are needed to evaluate a technology for a specific site, as well as ways to design and optimize a technology for a particular application. In today's analyst roundtable Sam, Ren, Matt, and Pibblez dive into a range of topics including Arbitrum's incentives program, issues with Solana's fee markets, Bitcoin L2 solutions, potential for Ethereum ETFs that enable staking, and the the upcoming Shanghai upgrade bringing several EIPs. The conversation opens by analyzing Arbitrum's incentives program, finding the TVL growth did not justify the high customer acquisition costs. They then dive into Solana's fee market issues, including inefficient compute usage and easy account spamming. Shifting focus to Bitcoin, the merits of different layer 2 construction approaches are weighed. Potential Ethereum ETFs come up next, with hosts excited by the prospects of staking rewards further enriching companies like Coinbase. Finally, the major improvements of Ethereum's upcoming Shanghai upgrade are discussed, including several EIPs that will directly boost the Layer 2 ecosystem. Author and clinical psychologist, Lindsay C. Gibson, helps us identify the characteristics of emotionally immature people (EIPs) like ego-centrism, lack of empathy, and fear of emotional intimacy. Lindsay shares the effects of being raised by emotionally immature parents, mapping out two routes children often take – becoming internalizers or externalizers – and how that plays out in adult relationships and professional lives. Emphasizing the importance of self-compassion, Lindsay explains how often the most important step toward healing is identifying the EIPs in our lives. Lindsay C.
