This week on Fright Flick FMK, I'm getting elevated and diving into the 2025 Argentine slasher No One Will Hear Your Scream, written and directed by Mariano Cattaneo. Set in Bernal, Buenos Aires during the 1990 World Cup, the film follows a young record store worker named Micaela as a brutal killer uses Argentina's soccer matches as cover for a string of savage murders. As the body count rises, Micaela discovers the murders may be connected to mixtapes she created and sold — pulling her deeper into a nightmare where every match could mean another victim. The film stars Sol Wainer, Byron Barbieri, Román Almaraz, Leonel Romero, and Germán Baudino. Filming took place in and around Bernal and the greater Buenos Aires area, giving the movie a gritty early-90s atmosphere soaked in soccer obsession, mixtape culture, and classic slasher energy. The story follows siblings Martha and Félix, who grow up isolated and deeply scarred by the legacy of their father, a notorious serial killer who targeted women. Martha works at a garment factory where she's constantly harassed and belittled, while Félix becomes increasingly obsessed with embracing their father's violent past. What starts as simmering trauma slowly mutates into something darker, as Félix begins killing again and pushes Martha toward accepting the same blood-soaked inheritance. And yes, we're going there. The film doesn't shy away from brutality. There are suffocating scenes of workplace abuse, graphic violence, and a grim, inevitable turn where Martha herself finally snaps, stepping fully into the horror she's tried to suppress. By the end, it's less about jump scares and more about whether violence is learned, inherited, or just waiting for the right moment to surface. It's bleak. It's heavy.
