NOTA EDC. 4,5 estrellas

1975 was the release of Stephen King's second novel, ‘SALEM'S LOT. It was a huge success. Shortly after the novel was turned into a classic television mini-series (1979), and a sequel (1987), plus a further remake (2004). But Hollywood wasn't finished yet. The television prequel series CHAPELWAITE (2021) was released. Now finally a third remake has been released straight to VOD on HBO Max.Ben Mears (Lewis Pullman) returns to his childhood home of Jerusalem's Lot as he begins to write a tale about an old dark house entitled the Martsten House which overlooks the town. At the same time two European immigrants set up an antiques store on main street. When a boy disappears, the local police chief begins to suspect that one of the new arrivals may be the perpetrator.Immediately, the film production and what was screened was mediocre at best. As a result, the movie was shelfed as producers tried to decide what to do with it. But still, some big names were involved with the production. James Wan produced and Gary Dauberman wrote and directed. Your co-hosts take a look at this new adaptation and give their thoughts whether the bad rumors were true.

#MonsterCast chugs right along as Jeremy & Sara break down the new Stephen King adaptation Salem's Lot streaming now on MAX. This film has a lot working in it's favor not the least of which is the creepy atmosphere and direction of IT screenwriter Gary Dauberman. But while the aesthetics are sharp, the run-time leaves a lot to be desired in making us truly gut sucked in (pun intended) to the story. When author Ben Mears comes back to his childhood home in search for some inspiration for his next book, he discovers that people in his home town are mysteriously turning into blood-sucking vampires. While outlining our schedule for the year, Matt was under the impression that the James Wan produced/Gary Dauberman directed remake of Salem's Lot was going to come out at the end of April. What can we say? After the studio switched everything around for the release of Evil Dead Rise, we had a spot to fill. Enter M3gan. Also produced by Wan, the tale about a killer AI influenced doll was a surprise hit at the beginning of the year, grossing over $100 million. Why did the boys choose this one to do? And what was it that made it inevitable that, whether there was a spot or not, they eventually were going to cover it anyway? Listen to Matt, Adam, and Garrett dissect the twerking doll of success, and stay tuned for the MASSIVE announcement of the very next retrospective they are going to do!
