You're either a Bad Ass Boss Babe or you're a Hot Mess. What if I don't want to be either or want the leniency to be both? Truth is, life is not so black and white, so either-or. There are times and seasons for everything and we have the ability to fail, succeed, and everything in between. Today on the Hom Bod Podcast Heather and Ashley talk about some of the either/or mistakes we make in our homes and with our bodies and some of the ways we can avoid it. Take the pressure off and be yourself... in your own season.
Heather and Ashley had a wonderful conversation with Micha Goebig of GO BIG COACHING about how we, as women, can get out of our own way to be able to break through the glass ceiling of our careers! As the founder & CEO of GO BIG COACHING, confidence & leadership coach Micha Goebig helps high-achieving women become confident leaders in male-dominated spheres. To gain the confidence and visibility to take their careers to the next level (and beyond!), she guides her clients through unlearning what holds them back and through her 5-step framework to 10X their confidence at work. Her signature Unlearn Series of talks and workshops focuses on going beyond negative self-talk, impostor syndrome, perfectionism, self-sabotage, and people-pleasing. Micha is a certified coach, speaker, and published author. Before training as a coach, she founded (and still owns) a boutique agency – GO BIG COMMUNICATIONS – that specializes in corporate communications for the German luxury car industry. "Are you feeling sad or depressed? Just go for a run and you'll feel better." Have you heard that before? Or something similar? We try to make our brains happy and exercise is a good way to make that happen. But what if it doesn't work? Neuroscience actually says taking care of our physical bodies in order to make our brain happy only accounts for 25% of our brains ability to be happy. Dr. Daniel Amen (and many others in the field of neuroscience) talk about 4 quadrants of our brain that need to be addressed when discussing happiness or depression: biological, psychological, social, and spiritual. Heather and Ashley discuss the links between each quadrant and how eating, exercise, and living in a tidy house can help all of us be happier people. Heather references "The Paleo Thyroid Solution" by Elle Russ.

By the time we get to February, upwards of 80% of everyone will have failed in their new years resolutions. We already talked about how setting resolutions doesn't seem to be enough. But in all honesty, setting a goal isn't really enough either. Today Heather and Ashley are talking about the difference between being resolute, having a goal, and making a plan. Join the conversation and share it with someone else! Want the planner Heather has ready for you?! Follow this link and happy planning! getfitwith.hdtransformations.com
It's that time of year again.... where everyone makes a new year resolution to get healthy and in shape. Where everyone makes a new year resolution to get organized. We are here to tell you to STOP! We don't believe in New Years Resolutions because we have found better ways to achieve what we want! Goal setting, ok. Visualization, optimal! Knowing how you want things to feel, great. Reverse engineering your dreams, awesome! There are more ways than one to get to where you want to go... try a new path to get you there faster! WithOUT resolutions!
Christmas is now only a few days away and we want you to enjoy every second of it! For as much as we like to stay in control and keep everything in check, there is a chance that we will fall off the wagon with our eating and make a disaster of our house. And it's ok!!! It's ok to eat the dessert, to leave toys on the living room floor, to not wipe off the table, to stop your food tracking app… because sometimes we get to live a little and not worry about perfection. Of course we want to get back on track. And we want to do it guild free! Heather and Ashley talk about how to keep a realistic outlook on the holidays, share some of their personal holiday stories, and simply say: enjoy it! Merry Christmas everyone!
"But I should be able to do it on my own" is perhaps the main sentence that holds us back from so much progress! When a pipe is broken we call a plumber, we take our car to a shop when we need an oil change, we go to a salon for a hair cut... we seek out the professional. Could we do it on our own? Maybe, but not as well as the expert can. This week, Heather and Ashley talk about the shame that comes from the "should" statement and how experts can help us get to where we want to be with our home, head and health. If you're scrambling for last minute gifts this Christmas season, give the gifts of time and success by gifting a coach, a mentor, a professional of whatever expert service you need!
We all know marketing is getting worse and worse around the holidays but it's at an all time high this year with advertisers marketing how "stuff" will make or break your holiday..... Heather and Ashley beg to differ! The stuff, food, decorations, etc., we have around us this year must be personalized to our likes and our traditions, absolutely! But we also challenge you to "take it personally" and make what is special about this Christmas season all about YOU - not about what other people want you to make it. Join Heather and Ashley as we talk about making this holiday about relationships, not about expectations.
Do you remember what it was like to learn how to drive? All 36 really stressful steps that freaked you out? How do you feel about driving now? It's just not a big deal at all! You "brain chunked!" Join Heather and Ashley as we talk about a great way to bundle a whole bunch of steps into one action. This can be used to identify a break in the system... any system... eating healthier, staying organized, increasing productivity at work, making sure everything gets done that is needed consistently. In other words - it's a great way to make your home, head, and health HAPPY!

Emma Faye is an audiobook narrator and actor with a passion for bringing stories to life! She has high standards when it comes to the content of her books and shows and will only perform clean content! When it comes to “clean” content, there is a big spectrum and opinion of what people consider “clean,” which is why Emma has found a gap in the audiobook industry - a rating system! Also with that opinion range also comes the possibility of cutting off an audience or limiting work. So why the line in the sand? Our minds create the life we live and if we want a happy home, head, and overall health, we need to keep our minds clean and positive. What we allow into our minds will become a focal point. Our brain can't really differentiate between fact and fiction and what we tell it, it believes… that's why affirmations work! That's why visualization exercises work! Let's fill our minds with positive imagery, positive language, and positive ideas rather than negative! Stacy Steck is a beautiful wood worker that knows his worth! There is a mindset around knowing your worth and it includes the hard work, research, desire for improvement, and providing quality work… whether that's for customers, kids, audiences or yourself! Good quality work comes with time, dedication, and knowing that you may not get anything in return for a job well-done. It can be discouraging to have people say “no” or find fault in what you do, but when Stacy starts doubting, he makes sure he finds like-minded people that support his skills and efforts. There is a great lesson to be learned about the internal struggle and the ability to do something YOU know that YOU are good at, rather than looking for external motivations and accolades. You have to be able to invest in yourself to be able to be called the best! Put in the time, then put in more! Go the extra mile, then go another. Put in the work, know your worth, and find the people that see you for exactly who you are! To find Stacy and see his amazing work go to: Facebook @steckscustomwoodshop www.steckscw.com

That means this Professional Organizer just gave you permission to go buy a bin! (just keep to the junk drawer!) Happy shopping!

Dr Joe Nieusma is the CEO and Chief Toxicologist at Superior Toxicology and Wellness. He is active in toxicology research and has a vast knowledge in how our food, water, supplements, and other factors either expose us to toxins or help us avoid and eliminate toxins from our bodies and environment. Heather and Ashley appreciate this conversation not only for the insight into the world of toxicology but to understand the breadth to which we can and should go to make our home, head, and health happy! Mindset is just as involved as our physical factors! Food addictions, pharmaceutical addictions… they are all very real and we need to be aware of what they are doing to us. Our ability to get out of an addiction comes if we are willing to see the addiction and realize breaking that addiction is an option and a choice. We are surrounded by toxins and if we can eliminate just one toxin at a time we will be so much better off! Start with a simple water filter. Decide to eat only non-GMO. Eat half, and mostly plants. Choose better supplements. Make small choices, one at a time, until you are living a healthier life! The physical element of being a human is lacking! If we can find a way to increase our physical activity and buy into the benefits of exercise and activity we will be so much better off! A physically active child will have a sharp mind. The ironic thing is that energy is produced by spending the energy… you can't create energy from sitting on the couch! We've all heard it : We need to get 8 hours of sleep per night! But have you heard WHY!? Studies have shown that missing 1 hour of sleep per night consistently may lead to 20 lbs of weight gain?! And did you know that if you keep your babies awake after feeding them they'll sleep longer?! Listen in as Heather explains to us why getting enough sleep can lead to a much happier life in this Happy Hack episode!
We are in the middle of the most highly marketed time of year, when we are bombarded with emotional hooks on what to buy to make us happy. We tend to give away our responsibility to find and make our own joy by thinking that "stuff" is going to take care of our happiness and success. Heather and Ashley say it straight in this episode of the HomBod Podcast! Let's dive into some mindsets we've had about Christmas and 2020! Have we told ourselves that it was a horrible year? That we deserve to buy 'stuff' to make us feel better? Or are we taking that responsibility for our happiness onto ourselves head on? What about those that have really lost everything this year? Take a listen to hear what we think you deserve!!!
What subconscious biases do we carry around because of what we've seen on TV, been taught by our parents, read on the internet...? Have you been duped into thinking you need to do it all, have it all, be all? What if those perceptions of life, marriage, balance, race relations, gender roles, etc, were treated as just that... perceptions? We can still dream big dreams! We can overcome our own biases - whether directed at others or directed at ourselves - and become the dreams we have in our hearts! Join Ashley and Heather in a fascinating conversation with Aundrea D as we discover how a shift in mindset can help on our journey of a happy home, head, and health!
You are what you eat... but you are not your thoughts. What if we, as humans, are more malleable that we think? What if we can change what has been, that isn't serving us, for what we want to be?! True, change is hard, but definitely possible if we know how! Life coach Dr. Dee Frayne talks us through how to say YES to who we want to be by saying NO to what we don't want! Disorganized? Overweight? Chronic shopper? Emotional eater? We can change the programming we've been taught by society and our own experiences to become the best version of ourselves! No support from friends and family? Imposter syndrome? Afraid change won't last? Then sit down with us and enjoy our conversation with Dr. Dee as she teaches us that we are not our thoughts and how we can learn to say 'no' so we can say 'YES!!!" We want to introduce you to a new addition to the podcast this season: the Happy Hack! Ashley and Heather do a lot of talking together... but there are some things we want to dig a little deeper into, specifically into our areas of interest. This week, Ashley teaches us the best way to fold towels! Ready for it? ....fold them to fit the space in which they're stored! Tadaaaaa! All growing up, Ashley had to learn all the different crazy ways her mom made her fold towels. Just when she had it figured out, they'd move and she'd have a new method of folding. Well, as it turns out, her mom was simply folding the towels to how they fit the space! There's no need to fold them like a ritzy Hotel or a Bed Bath and Beyond display. For max function, simply find the best way to fold them to fit the drawer, closet, cabinet, or container they're stored in! Easy as that! Show us how you've folded your towels on Facebook on our HomBod Podcast page!
