The story continues to unfold from Sarah's memoir, Finding Gideon. The EMT workers have scraped her off the track and are heading to a hospital, and we see a little more of the backstory of how she got to this place.New to the podcast? If you love inspirational stories, this is the one you'll want to follow. Check out the synopsis ofFinding Gideon, a memoirA horse, a dog, and a long-time dream coming together- what more could a girl want?Since the day I read my first Thoroughbred series book in fifth grade, I imagined crouching over the withers of a racehorse, feeling its muscles bunch together and release with each stride. But I wanted more than an image in my mind, I wanted it in real life. It was my junior year of college when I left home to chase the dream, and for a minute I had it between my fingers. Gideon rode in the horse trailer and Sandi was curled into a ball on the backseat when we moved to Louisville. Within two weeks I pounded down the track on young Thoroughbreds, impressing trainers with my bravery and skill. But soon, piece by piece, it began to crumble. Holding onto the dream, and my faith, was like grabbing water by the fistful and watching it slip between my fingers. How could I keep going in this land of strangers and broken dreams? How could I trust the God who gives, when He's also the God who takes away? But how could I quit, when the dream still stirred in my bones, and Gideon was out there somewhere and needed me to find him? This synopsis and the book being read on the show is 100% the work of Sarah Hickner. Who doesn't love a good horse book? And who doesn't love chatting horses? If the answer is "not me," I'm not sure this episode is for you, but give it a try and see! This week, new author Sarah Welk Baynum is on the show to chat all things horses and books. We commiserate over off the track Thoroughbred shenanigans, track changes from editors, and where to find good new music (and does it even exist?). To find Sarah's books, just go to Amazon! I find that almost all the lessons I learn around horses can be applied to regular life. Last month I welcomed a new horse into the family. He's my first young project in a decade, and it's put me in a reflective mood. In this episode, I share some of my favorite pieces of wisdom I've picked up over the years - for horses and life. Want to follow my journey with the new horse on Instagram (where I'm spamming everyone with adorable horse reels)? Have you ever had a dream come true, only to be met with tough emotions you didn't expect? Have you ever been on vacation and found yourself frustrated because you're pulled from your daily routine or to-do list? This week something I have been working toward for months finally came together, and I was heartbroken over it. It was the last thing I expected. I thought I would be giddy, like a school girl who walked out to the mailbox to find a new pony! Instead, I've spent the week swallowing back tears at inopportune moments. When I logged onto my computer to interview Melynda, the last thing I expected was a coaching call with me at the center. Melynda guides us on a deep dive into choices, habits, emotions, and how to gain better control of all of them. I hope this interview enriches your life as much as it has mine. ~Sarah, host of LiveRideLearn All the details we promise during the episode: Melynda refers to a previous episode where I talk about making lists! Here's the link. (PS this was one of my first episodes and WOW have things grown!) Melynda is AMAZING and gifting us a FREE habit tracker! Just go to this web page and scroll down: https://www.cognitiveagilityllc.com/habit-tracker Have some stuff to work through? I HIGHLY recommend booking a discovery call with her. Honestly all those negative emotions are GONE after our interview (I'm honestly wondering where they wondered off to). https://course.cognitiveagilityllc.com/bookacall To get your free short story, "Three Horses and a Wedding", just go here! http://www.liveridelearn.com/freeshortstory/ Instagram: Find me here: @liveridelearn Follow Streamhorse.tv here: @streamhorsetv Thank you to Streamhorse.TV for partnering with me on the LiveRideLearn Podcast! Natalie Keller Reinert took an unconventional route in life, which is one of the reasons she can bring so many places and experiences to life in her fiction. When I read her book, Runaway Alex, I immediately fell in love, so much so that I wrote a blog post about it, and dropped everything to invite her on the podcast. Our chat spans from sharing our love of lizards to what it was like to work for top event trainers and so much more. Whether you've read her books or not, Natalie is an incredibly interesting person with a great story. If you love to read and, like me, have hardly touched a horse book since middle school, I implore you to check out her page-turning fiction! You won't be disappointed. The best place to start is on her website where you can join her newsletter and get access to a free book or two! https://www.nataliekreinert.com Follow her on Instagram here: @nataliekreinert Follow the LiveRideLearn podcast here: @liveridelearn Follow Streamhorse.tv here: @streamhorsetv If you want a bonus free short story, go to www.LiveRideLearn.com and join the newsletter! This episode was originally titled “what's the big idea?” And the title was changed. This one's much better don't you think? Did you tune into Episode 1 of this season's LiveRideLearn Podcast? If so, you heard me drop a huge teaser. I was so mean! I told you over and over that I had this exciting announcement, and it was coming, and then I brought you an episode that had nothing to do with the announcement. Ha! Sorry (not sorry). So, here it is. The BIG ANNOUNCEMENT IS... you've got to listen to find out (but I can promise you I'm NOT pregnant). Truly, I hope this big idea inspires you in your own big ideas. Chase the dream, do the thing. I'd much rather try and fail than regret never trying. I'm so excited about this grand adventure, and only wish there weren't so many logistics to keep us from starting already. Welcome back! We are officially in season 2 of LiveRideLearn! In episode one, you get a heads up of what to expect for season 2 (there is a BIG secret!), and a throwback to the roots of LRL - a story. If the title of the episode didn't give it away, it's a tale of lies and imposter syndrome. I got hit dead center with it, and once I made it to the other side it was a realization that we all deal with this in some way. Enjoy! More info: Isn't that intro song incredible? People keep asking me about the lessons I've learned from writing a book, so after a lot of thought I mapped out 3 to share in this episode. Whether your goal is to write a book, run a marathon, or survive the day with a smile, these are things we could all use more of in our lives.
Finally, as long promised, I'm reading a story from my Stories from the Barn Aisle book! It's like a free audio book! It's been one of the more complex ones to work through (I made changes to the story even after recording this), but also one of my favorite. Probably because it was such an epic, embarrassing, and in hind sight, hilarious moment. The cover and formatting are being finalized THIS WEEK and it should be available to order soon!
Come back in time with me to a story of failure, struggle and success, and one of my biggest takeaways from it all. What did you take away from the story?
People keep asking me how on earth I'm getting everything done. So, I spent a few minutes sharing how I'm doing everything (momming, podcasting 2 shows, writing, blogging, wifing, horse riding, and continuing to build my Mary Kay biz!...oh yeah AND exercising). I'm tired just listing it all. Then I also wanted to share what's going on with the book - it's a real life no fluff view from the inside where I spilled my guts a tad. Enjoy!
I'm throwing another life coping hack at you. Sometimes it comes down to these two little words...

We've all been there- the text with bad news or the governors mandate that changes everything (like you can't leave your house unless it's essential). Sometimes it may be as simple as a bill when money is tight that starts the mental spiral. The episode shares a story and technique for handling it when it feels like the sky is falling.
