The Riziner one Motzy Shabbos told the following story. Once the Holy Baal Shem was davening and the corner of his Talis slipped out of his gartle and touched the floor. The Great Magid picked it up and tucked it back into place. And then all of the sudden, as if he had stuck by lightning, he fainted. Seeing that his life was in danger they interrupted the prayers of the Besht and he revived him. On Zos Chanukah , I had the great honor of speaking in the Old City by a Yeshiva very special boys and the Rosh Yeshiva He started a song that's usually reserved for very famous, important rabbis like Chaim Kanievski For me, it was a joke and I had to. I had to set the record straight and let the guys know, you know, who I really am . And I told them what I've said so many times. My story about when I was a kid that my favorite toy was a Barrel of Monkeys and the object of the game was to take these monkeys and make a long chain. And I said, Guys, I just want you to know I am just a monkey in a chain . But I assure you that above me there are real today Tzadikim Even if a person feels that he's a monkey , he's not on the same level as the Tzadikim But it's imperative to know that he can connect with Tzadikim even if he's not on the same level.
The whole world is looking for bread. They came to Pharaoh and Pharaoh says, GO TO YOSEPH and whatever he says to do. DO! What is Rashi say? We gathered in the grain. We heard the announcement. It wasn't a secret. We stored up grain for the years of famine , but it all rotted . YOSEPH not only knew to foresee the future by interpreting the dream of Pharaoh, but he also knew how to preserve the years of bounty . Pharaoh says, if so, whatever. Joseph says, DO!. What did Joseph tell these people? He wanted them to be circumcised . What? Circumcised ? Yup. It's impossible, says REB NOSSON, to subjugate the embarrassment that hovers over the heart . Without that aspect of BRIS MILA
We often hold a fantasy that Joseph was a gigantic, righteous figure, born into the world adorned with his beautiful coat. The verse describes him as fixing his eyes upward and having an issue with his tongue, which symbolized his immaturity. The coat itself was emblematic of his father's recognition of Joseph's tremendous potential. Yet, ironically, it was this very coat that sparked animosity among his brothers, ultimately pushing Joseph to become the person he was destined to be. In his early years, Joseph was merely an immature 17-year-old, and just as his potential was great, so too were the obstacles — likened to a foreskin covering over that potential. It is often the case that those born with immense potential face equally great challenges, for these challenges serve as opportunities for growth and transformation.
Bring it to the people. The Tzadik shines the light of his righteousness into the broken hearts of the people. and this is what we need to learn how to do. this process is through the power of speech. most of us, unfortunately have been trained to speak in a negative way, whether it's in our communication with others or whether it's in our internal communication, we are not effective. And we're going to use this teaching of Rebbe Nachman to go into the teachings of Marshall Rosenberg, Lahavdal, when anybody studies a subject for the sake of heaven, to help the world, he will come up with the absolute truth. And I feel that this person who is not even religious has come up with the absolute truth that I want to share this with the world right now.
In my old days, when I was a scribe, I had the great method of writing all the resources for the great theater group Gruetzemacher Zilber. And when I finished, he invited me to his house to put them up. He turned to me and he says, Which one's the best one? So I said, Why do you want to know which one's the best one? So he says, I want to put it in the shop, this room. He didn't call it the living room, the dining room. He called it the Shabazz Room because Shabazz is like a room.
The vacation's over, and it's time to go back--back to school, back to work. It's very very universal that there's a need to "getaway." Go to the mountains, go to the water, the ocean. But the Torah gives a recipe that's counterintuitive. It tells you something that if you really really want the joy and inner peace, It's in a totally different direction.
