In this episode, we talk about restoring true connection in a world where social media has taken over so many aspects of our lives. With how much we touch on social media on this podcast, we all knew this episode was coming and I couldn't think of a better person to have this conversation with than spiritual coach, best-selling author, and my dear friend, Joy Stone.Joy is an expert in positive psychology, yoga psychology, yoga & meditation. She's also the author of the best-selling book, "If I'm So Spiritual, Why Am I Still So Anxious?" Her coaching and teachings blend Western psychology with Eastern spiritual practices to enhance awareness and unlock access to our innate wisdom and freedom. Her teachings in Yoga psychology delve into the study of the soul, offering a profound depth compared to traditional self-help, which often focuses too much on symptom relief and problem management. Unlike conventional methods that offer tips and tools to "work" on yourself, Joy's approach is designed to help you rediscover and truly understand who you are. This episode was definitely a deep one. Joy gave us so much to consider and think about as we not only re-examine our relationship with social media and others, but also the relationship that we have with ourselves. Many of us have gone through most of our lives feeling this disconnect, but haven't been able to pinpoint what's actually causing it. But as Joy shared with us on today's episode, when we're feeling anxious or disconnected in our lives, it's a sign that we're out of alignment with who we truly are and something needs to change. This year, I faced unexpected health challenges that led me to take a break from podcasting. Initially, this pause created anxiety as I struggled to let go of the pressure to stay consistent. However, it highlighted the critical importance of prioritizing well-being over hustle culture. In this episode, we explore the significance of slowing down for deeper healing and lasting impact. We draw inspiration from Simone Biles, who took a two-year hiatus for her mental health and returned to win gold at the Paris Olympics. Her story reminds us that taking a step back doesn't mean quitting; it's a vital part of the healing process.Reflect on your own life: What signs have you been ignoring that signal the need to slow down? What changes can you make to prioritize your well-being? Remember, no task is worth sacrificing your health. Embrace the mindset that there's nothing to prove. Your worth is intrinsic and not tied to external achievements.Join me as we discuss how slowing down, setting priorities, and embracing authenticity can lead to profound personal growth and a greater impact on the world.Connect With Christina Guzmánwww.instagram.com/selflovetonicpodwww.selflovetonicpodcast.comchristina@selflovetonic.com

Today marks 34 trips around the sun for me and I'm just so grateful for another year on this earth. Even though it's a Thursday, I took the day off of work and I'm going to spend the day doing some fun things that light me up. I'm someone who tends to get introspective around my birthday so being able to take the time today to focus on self-love is something I'm grateful for. One of the things that I've always loved to do on my birthday is to journal and every year I would write about the number of lessons that I've learned that coincided with the age that I was turning but honestly, I have zero desire to sit here and write about 34 lessons I learned in 34 years so I'm going do something a little different.I've been thinking a lot about the last few years and how drastically my life has changed, I've been especially thinking about all of the challenges that I've had to overcome, challenges that almost broke me but ended up being a catalyst for something bigger and better in my life and in going down memory lane, I realized that I've never really talked about how I got here on this journey of self-discovery and why I'm so passionate about it.Deep down I've been wanting to share a podcast episode like this for a while but… I've been hesitant for a lot of reasons. I feel like being transparent and vulnerable and using my experiences to help others feel less alone is one of my gifts, but there's also a lot of fear tied to it especially when you're doing so in such a public format. I've been through a lot of hardship, especially in the last 5 years and although I've come out on the other side of it, it's still not easy to talk about. But when I started this podcast I promised to always be real and raw and to share the things that were on my heart, even if it wasn't easy. Because I truly believe that it's in the depths of our despair and the trenches of our trials that we learn our most valuable lessons and those lessons deserve to be heard by those who need them the most.So think of this episode as an audio version of my birthday journal entry as I celebrate another year and bring you back to some of the most profound, heartbreaking, and joyous times in my life that helped shape who I am.Connect With Christina Guzmánwww.instagram.com/selflovetonicwww.instagram.com/itschrissyjanechristina@selflovetonic.com
Have you ever wondered why we self-sabotage? Are you someone who struggles to be present in their body? Have you been feeling called to step into the most authentic version of yourself but don't know where to start? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this episode is definitely for you. Today I have the pleasure of bringing you a conversation that so many of us can benefit from with Self-Discovery and Embodiment Coach, Noelle Pinchot. Noelle's mission is to help women come home to themselves and empower them to embody everything they already have within to attract their most authentic, abundant, and aligned life! In her programs and teachings, she helps women understand the connection between their mind and body, how to create a loving and compassionate relationship with past, present, and future versions of themselves, and reframing old beliefs that no longer serve them. She truly believes that every person has a beautiful and unique gift to bring to the world and is on a mission to help individuals unlock those gifts through simplicity, stillness, and embodiment.I learned so much and am walking away with so many takeaways from this conversation and I hope that are too. One of the things that I love about Noelle is her down-to-earth approach. The way she's able to take deep and complex topics and break them down in tangible ways that can be understood by anyone regardless of where they are on their self-discovery journey truly is a gift. From learning to shift our perspective around topics like self-sabotage, learning about the role of our past and future selves in the healing process, understanding the power of embodiment, and so much more, Noelle has certainly given us so much to think about as we all continue to move forward on our journey of self-discovery. This time of year tends to be a favorite for a lot of people (myself included) as we start transitioning into the spooky and holiday season. But there's something else that also tends to make an appearance this time of year that isn't as fun and that is the feeling of being burned out.Whether you're someone who is working a full-time job, going back to school, diving deep into a passion project or holding down the fort at home, burnout is a very common experience in our fast-paced world. So many of us have dealt with it at some point in our lives, I myself have been battling with it recently and if you've ever experienced it you know that those seasons can start to feel pretty discouraging. But what if I told you that burnout can actually be a blessing in disguise? In today's episode, we're going to explore how burnout, although challenging, can serve as a powerful catalyst for bringing about personal growth and how to use it to our advantage.Connect With Christina Guzmánwww.instagram.com/selflovetonicwww.instagram.com/itschrissyjanechristina@selflovetonic.com

I first want to start by saying THANK YOU. Thank you for being here and thank you for taking time out of your day to tune in to every episode this season. When I decided to start this podcast back in January, I remember telling myself “It's not about the number, it's about the impact.” I didn't go into this experience expecting a certain amount of listeners, I didn't go into it expecting anything really other than just wanting to empower people to make positive changes in their lives and be able to help anyone who was struggling to know that they weren't alone.I've been doing a lot of soul-searching lately and the fate of the In Love & Simplicity podcast has been something I've been contemplating. I'm sharing all the details about what's next for the podcast + a BIG announcement in this Season 1 Finale that you won't want to miss. _________________________________________________Episode Links: www.selflovetonic.com www.instagram.com/selflovetonicConnect With Christina Guzmánwww.instagram.com/selflovetonicwww.instagram.com/itschrissyjanechristina@selflovetonic.com

Our daughter turned 1 last Saturday and leading up to her party I was sitting in so many feelings. It's such a strange thing to be able to say that this past year was the fastest year of my life but also the longest year. When I was pregnant I remember another Mom saying to me “the days are long, but the years are short” and I now understand what that means. I've spent a lot of time recently looking back at old videos and photos from when I was pregnant and from the first few months of Mia's life which made me want to read my birth story again and I'm really glad that I did because leading up to her birthday, I couldn't help but feel like it was my birthday too, which might sound a little weird at first, but recounting the process reminded me that the day she was born was the day that I was reborn. So as I've just marked a year of earthside Motherhood, I thought it would be fun to share my birth story during this episode along with some of the most impactful lessons I've learned this past year.Connect With Christina Guzmánwww.instagram.com/selflovetonicwww.instagram.com/itschrissyjanechristina@selflovetonic.com
We live in an unprecedented time in history. Being in the age of social media, news travels at record speeds and we're more in the know than any previous generation. We have access to information about every single tragedy that strikes around the world at our fingertips almost instantaneously and it's hard to suppress the feelings that come along with that, especially for people who are empathic and people who feel things on a deeper level than most. It's not surprising that it makes so many of us feel compelled to use our voices to invoke change and stand up for what we believe is right. But doing so without considering how it affects our mental health can come at a cost and we'll be diving more into what that looks like in this episode.Affordable Mental Health Resourceswww.betterhelp.comwww.talkspace.comwww.getcerebral.com Connect With Christina Guzmánwww.instagram.com/selflovetonicwww.instagram.com/itschrissyjanechristina@selflovetonic.com

Welcome to the In Love & Simplicity Podcast where you'll learn to live with less so that you can experience more. I'm your host, Christina Guzmán. If you're ready to chat all things minimalism, motherhood and intentional living you're in the right place.I've moved around a lot throughout my lifetime, 20 times to be exact, which is what initially sparked my interest in minimalism a few years back. There's nothing like having to pack up your home over a dozen times to make you realize how much stuff you have that you don't need. Since then, I've developed a strong passion for inspiring others to live a simpler lifestyle, one that has the power to bring them more peace and less chaos. Many people believe that being a minimalist is about giving up the things you love, but I've found the opposite to be true. I believe that time is our most precious resource and it's meant to be spent doing the things that truly bring us joy. Pursuing simple living helps us to slow down, gain more time freedom and focus on what really matters. This season we'll be exploring topics including shifting the narrative around modern-day consumerism, practical tips to start living with less, the power minimalism has to change your life, Productivity Hacks and so much more including interviews with inspiring guest speakers along the way.
