She lost 220 pounds naturally. She survived suicidal ideation. She rebuilt her entire identity. And she did it all by learning -for the first time -to love the woman in the mirror. In this episode of the Cricket Fixes Podcast, Christa sits down with Tara Wiskow, intuitive energy healer and life reinvention expert, for a soul-level conversation about what it really takes to break free from self-abandonment, people-pleasing, and the patterns that keep us small. This is one of those episodes that finds you when you need it.Together, Christa and Tara explore the concept of the identity rupture -that moment when everything you thought you wanted explodes and a new direction starts pulling at you. They talk about why we have four bodies (spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical) and how disease in the body starts long before we feel it physically. They get into the neuroscience of why change feels so unsafe, what's actually happening when you can't stop people-pleasing, and why most of us are still being run by an unhealed inner child -even if we'd never admit it.And then they get beautifully practical. Tara shares her mirror work technique that starts with your feet (yes, really -and it's genius), the white light grounding visualization, and a simple daily emotion check-in that can crack you open in the best possible way. This isn't about toxic positivity or "just love yourself." It's about the real, gritty, gorgeous work of coming home.In this episode:• The identity rupture and what it's actually telling you• Why your brain is wired to keep you stuck (and what to do about it)• Inner child healing vs. reparenting -and why the order matters• Mirror work you can actually start tonight, even if you hate yourself right now• A simple grounding and emotion check-in practice• Why self-love had to come before Tara could heal anything elseConnect with Tara Wiskow: www.tara-wiskow.com | Instagram: @tara.wiskowReferenced episode: Ep. 10 -"Release, Recalibrate & Reclaim" (Christa's own healing story)

What does authenticity at work truly mean and why is it worth the effort? On this week's episode, I have a thought-provoking conversation with Claude Silver, the world's first Chief Heart Officer from VaynerMedia, about the messy, courageous path to being yourself, even when it feels risky. Together, we deconstruct major myths around vulnerability in the workplace, offering evidence and stories that show how authenticity drives not just well-being, but tangible results: lower turnover, greater innovation, and a sense of collective purpose.Inspired by Claude's honest approach, our live listeners pose powerful questions that highlight common daily struggles such as hesitating to speak up, managing boundaries, and leading authentically under pressure. Claude brings empathy and actionable insight, emphasizing that psychological safety isn't a luxury, but the backbone of sustainable performance. She also meets tough questions about hybrid work, digital disconnection, and the demands of high expectations with practical advice for human connection, even screen-to-screen.Whether you're looking to find your voice at work or creating an environment where others share more of themselves at the office, this conversation offers a blueprint for creating impact through authenticity, empathy, and everyday courage. What You'll Learn- Authenticity doesn't mean sharing everything—it means showing up as you and taking up space.- Leaders aren't expected to have all the answers; the magic happens when we guide, listen, and connect.- Empathy and accountability are not at odds. When people feel seen and valued, results follow.- Protect your energy and set boundaries; you cannot pour from an empty cup.- In challenging times, focus on what you can impact and be gentle with yourself.Podcast Timestamps00:57 Welcome and introduction to Claude Silver03:06 Origin story: Why Claude wrote Be Yourself at Work04:48 The Chief Heart Officer role explained07:01 Authenticity at work: Dipping your toe in09:20 The cost of hiding who you are12:19 The ROI of psychological safety and human-centered culture15:42 Authenticity in high-performance transformation environments18:24 Cultivating self-awareness: Where to start21:26 Getting curious about your emotions23:44 The biggest misconception about authenticity26:06 Leaders don't need all the answers28:38 Empathy vs. accountability: They're not opposites33:17 Speaking up in meetings and overcoming imposter syndrome36:12 Having difficult conversations with courage39:41 Connection in a virtual and hybrid world44:11 Cameras on: Why it matters46:52 When your face comes across as intense48:46 Staying grounded when the world feels heavy52:41 Boundaries: The recovering codependent's guide56:09 Closing message: Text three people todayKEYWORDSPositive Leadership, Authenticity at Work, Psychological Safety, Workplace Culture, Empathy, Self-Awareness, Vulnerability, Maintaining Boundaries, People-Centered Leadership, Hybrid Work, Chief Heart Officer, Organizational Values, Imposter Syndrome, Emotional Intelligence, Collaboration, Belonging, Workplace Diversity, CEO Success

What if the thing weighing you down isn't your schedule or your closet… but an identity you've already outgrown? Sometimes the heaviest clutter in our lives isn't physical — it's emotional. In this episode of Chasing Brighter, Jessica and Kelly explore the idea of emotional clutter: the roles, identities, expectations, and coping strategies we once needed but may have already outgrown. Because choosing real over perfect doesn't always mean doing more. Sometimes it means letting go of the version of yourself you worked really hard to become. Together, Jessica and Kelly talk about how perfectionism, over-functioning, people-pleasing, and even certain dreams can quietly become emotional clutter over time. What once helped us survive may no longer help us thrive. Jessica also introduces the concept of Internal Family Systems (IFS) in a simple, approachable way — exploring how different “parts” of us (like the overachiever, the fixer, or the over-analyzer) try to protect us. The goal isn't to eliminate those parts, but to gently reorganize who's driving the car so our compassionate, grounded self can lead. Through personal stories about parenting, productivity, consumerism, and decision fatigue, Jessica and Kelly reflect on the roles and habits they are learning to release — and how doing so has created more space for presence, connection, and joy. Because sometimes the most powerful reset isn't organizing your life better. It's giving yourself permission to evolve. In This Episode, We Talk About Why emotional clutter can feel heavier than physical clutter Signs you may have outgrown an identity, role, or habit The difference between coping strategies that helped you survive vs. ones that help you thrive Internal Family Systems and understanding the “parts” of yourself Letting go of over-functioning, perfectionism, and external validation Analysis paralysis and decision fatigue in a world of too much information Parenting with presence instead of constant productivity Reducing consumerism and aligning spending with values Creating space for play, connection, and real life moments ✨ Want more inspiration for organizing your life this spring? A few years ago, Shabaz Ali was a chemistry teacher in Blackburn. Today, he's one of the internet's most beloved creators, best known as Shabaz Says, with millions of fans and a knack for skewering the most outrageous (and often tasteless) displays of online excess. Since quitting the day job, Shabaz has launched a podcast, performed at the Edinburgh Fringe and published his book I'm Rich, You're Poor. Beneath the humour though, there's always been something more serious at play: a sharp commentary on the psychological erosion that comes from spending too much of our lives online. In this episode, we talk about Shabaz's upbringing, being bullied at school, how his taxi-driver Dad didn't even realise his son was famous until recently and why no-one should ever spend £10,000 on an outfit. ✨ IN THIS EPISODE: 00:00 Introduction 03:03 The Impact of Social Media on Youth 05:14 Navigating Imposter Syndrome and Success 10:53 Embracing Authenticity and Overcoming Criticism 12:46 Growing Up in Blackburn 15:45 Challenges of Intersectional Identity 22:36 Family Perspectives and Cultural Expectations 24:04 Struggles with Poverty 25:20 Empathy 30:15 From Teacher to Social Media Star 31:24 Unexpected Career in the Hospital Morgue 33:38 Finding Viral Success Online 37:16 Representation and Finding Your Voice

You've been "the fun guy" in the group for so long that you've started confusing being liked with being safe. You crack jokes. You wave people through. You rush putts. You skip your full routine because you don't want to be "that guy." You downplay your standards with, "We're just out here having fun." And then you walk off 18 quietly frustrated… because you do care. You do want to play well. You do want to shoot lower scores and be taken seriously. This episode is about the identity I call the Likeable Loser: the man who sacrifices his standards, edge, and ambition to remain accepted, easy, and socially safe—on the course, in business, and in relationships. In this episode, you'll learn: What the Likeable Loser is (and why he's not lazy, broken, or incapable) How people-pleasing shows up on the scorecard through rushed process and softened standards Why "winners are assholes" is a hidden belief that keeps you stuck How labeling a "part" of you creates distance, clarity, and choice Why this pattern formed: belonging, approval, and social safety The real cost: self-trust, self-respect, integrity, and inner peace How to pursue excellence without becoming arrogant, intense, or unlikeable Get your pencils ready and start listening. Instagram: @thegolfhypnotherapist Key Takeaways: If you keep choosing "liked" over "aligned," your game will always feel capped—even if your swing improves. The Likeable Loser isn't unmotivated—he's over-indexed on approval, and it's leaking into every decision. Rushing your routine to protect group comfort is a form of self-betrayal that compounds over 18 holes. "We're just out here having fun" becomes a shield—until the round ends and the truth shows up as frustration. You won't win consistently while you secretly believe winners are jerks—your subconscious will keep you 'safe' at good-enough. Labeling the part ("the Likeable Loser") creates space: you can observe the pattern instead of being owned by it. The upgrade isn't trying harder—it's giving yourself permission to be fully you: standards, routine, voice, ambition. Key Quotes: "Somewhere along the way, being liked became far more important than being great." "You're not lazy. You're not unmotivated. You're not incapable. You are, however, over-indexed on approval." "The likable loser is the man who sacrifices his standards, edge and ambition in order to remain accepted, easy and socially safe." "When you can label the emotion you're feeling… you create distance, and that distance allows you to invite in curiosity." "On one hand you want to win. On the other hand there's a belief that says winners are assholes. There's an incongruency there." "The cost isn't just strokes or revenue. It's self-trust, self-respect, integrity, inner peace." "The upgrade here doesn't require trying harder… it requires being truer, giving yourself permission." This is a very special crossover episode airing on both the Everything Made Beautiful podcast and Masi Willis's Lead Like You Mean It podcast. Masi is one of my longest friends (we're talking almost 30 years), and this conversation is one of my favorites. As we head into Thanksgiving, we knew we wanted to talk about gratitude, but not in the superficial way our culture often does during November. Instead, we get honest about what it looks like to practice gratitude when the holidays bring as much pain as they do promise. We talk about the gaps... the empty chairs, the relationships that aren't what we hoped, the seasons that feel more heavy than celebratory.Masi and I both share vulnerably about our own Thanksgiving realities this year, the grief we're carrying, and how we're choosing gratitude as a daily formation rather than a seasonal performance. We also dig into how leadership coaching has transformed both of our lives, helping us know ourselves and lead ourselves well before we can truly lead others. If you're walking into this season with a full heart or a broken one, or both at the same time, this conversation is for you. Pain and promise can coexist, and they don't have to be hopeless.Chapters00:00 | Introduction to the Crossover Episode05:20 | Navigating Emptiness During the Holidays09:08 | The Role of Faith in Gratitude12:32 | Coexisting Pain and Promise16:51 | Entitlement and Gratitude in Life20:27 | The Importance of Care in Communication24:51 | Celebration as a Communication Code28:38 | The Importance of Celebration and Affirmation32:28 | Hope and Purpose in Daily Life34:51 | Influential Leaders and Their Impact36:37 | Excellence in Leadership37:37 | The Role of Mentorship39:53 | Wisdom in Decision Making42:36 | The Power of Feedback and Affirmation43:58 | Embracing Authenticity in Leadership45:24 | Navigating Triggers and Personal Growth47:20 | The Ongoing Journey of Self-Improvement49:38 | The Role of Coaching in Personal Development52:57 | Gratitude and Vulnerability in Relationships54:50 | Finding Peace Amidst Life's ChallengesMasi's Website: https://www.masiwillis.com/The Lead Like You Mean It Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/lead-like-you-mean-it-with-masi-willis/id1826446460Masi On Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/masiwillis/

Just a heads-up that in this episode we talk about late miscarriage. I am so grateful to Kelly for opening up about something that affects and speaks to so many of us - it's a beautiful conversation but if you're feeling tender around those issues for whatever reason, we've put in the time-stamps below in case you need to skip that bit. Kelly is a woman whose career has reflected the shifting tides of the British media landscape: from finding fame as a glamour model in the 90s, and being voted FHM's sexiest woman in the world on more than one occasion; she later made the move into presenting and acting. Now it's also just been revealed that she'll take part in this year's I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! In her first interview since that announcement, Kelly joins me for an honest and moving conversation about the pitfalls of fame, finding true love and she gives an extraordinarily vulnerable insight into her own fertility journey and her decision not to have children. Plus; how working on her own self-worth has brought her new happiness. An inspiration! ✨ IN THIS EPISODE: 00:00 Introduction 02:05 Marriage 05:28 Joining 'I'm a Celebrity' 06:52 Preparing for the Jungle 10:56 Reflecting on Success and Failure 25:28 Navigating Personal Growth and Boundaries 26:39 Romantic Relationships and Sacrifices 31:36 Dealing with Loss and Grief 33:31 Body Image and Societal Pressures 35:55 The Pain of Miscarriage 46:39 Embracing Authenticity and Moving Forward

Losing her mom to cancer reminded Bree that life is fleeting. Working as a consultant, she also saw how many people are miserable in their jobs. Connecting these dots, she decided to help people find more joy and meaning in their work and rather than count the days to the weekend, turn things around and actually look forward to getting to work, perhaps even embrace a “TGIM” mentality. In her book, Today Was Fun: A Book About Work (Seriously) she gives numerous examples of way we can find more joy from our work and our colleagues and encourages employers that creating a fun-filled workplace can improve an organization's performance and bottom line. Chapters: 00:00 Work Should Be Fun Bree Groff, author of Today Was Fun: A Book About Work (Seriously) shares how her mother, a kindergarten teacher, inspired her to believe that work can be enjoyable. After experiencing consulting and witnessing widespread job dissatisfaction, Bree realized that many people are not having fun at work. 03:59 A New Perspective on Work Bree's perspective on work drastically changed after her mother's terminal cancer diagnosis, leading her to question why people wish away their workdays. She advocates for a “middle way” where work is a pleasant way to spend time, not just a means to a paycheck or an all-consuming passion. 10:56 Fun Boosts Productivity Bree argues that fun at work increases productivity and employee engagement, citing research from Gallup. She challenges the traditional notion that work cannot be fun and explores how elements like comfortable dress codes can enhance well-being and authenticity. 17:29 Embracing Authenticity in Work Bree uses the example of a heart surgeon listening to ‘Napoleon Dynamite' during operations to illustrate that even serious work can benefit from a relaxed and authentic environment. She emphasizes the importance of treating our brains like athletes by prioritizing sleep, comfort, and mental health. 21:43 Micro Mischief and Generosity Bree suggests ‘micro mischiefs' for employees to subtly challenge restrictive workplace norms and encourages leaders to assume the best in their teams. She advocates for a cycle of generosity, where leaders support their employees' well-being, leading to increased commitment and better work. 29:01 Humanizing the Virtual Workplace Bree discusses the benefits of remote work in humanizing colleagues, as shared glimpses into personal lives foster empathy and stronger relationships. She highlights how moments like the BBC interview interruption showcased the human side of professionals, breaking down traditional barriers. 33:11 Future of Joy at Work Bree emphasizes that physical distance doesn't mean emotional distance in virtual work and suggests structured check-ins to maintain human connection. She notes a positive shift, especially among younger generations, towards valuing mental health and work-life boundaries, which aligns with her vision for joyful workplaces. 41:48 Reflections and Closing Bill Burke reflects on the work-from-home versus in-office debate, acknowledging both the benefits of in-person interaction and the strong arguments for virtual work. He expresses appreciation for Bree Groff's insights and her book, encouraging listeners to engage with the podcast and the Optimism Institute.

When ADHD Wants Adventure and Autism Just Wants a Nap Patricia (she/her) explores what it means to show up authentically as a neurodivergent person—especially when navigating the tension between wanting novelty (hello ADHD/AuDHD brains!) and craving sameness (thank you autism). She shares candid stories about celebrating her anniversary, managing low energy, social interactions, and dealing with conflict. Patricia also opens up about balancing autistic traits, ADHD novelty-seeking, PDA (persistent drive for autonomy), and honoring her sensitivity. If you're autistic, ADHD, AuDHD, or otherwise neurodivergent, this episode offers relatable honesty, self-compassion, and a reminder that sensitivity is nothing to apologize for. WHAT YOU'LL HEAR IN THIS EPISODE · Why showing up authentically—even when low energy or struggling—creates safety and deeper connection. · The push-pull between ADHD's love of novelty and autism's need for sameness. · A vulnerable look at performance pressure, PDA (persistent drive for autonomy), and the tension of “supposed to” versus authentic presence. · Reflections on navigating conflict, rejection, and the looping thoughts that come with OCD and sensitivity. · Stories of how small moments of authenticity (complimenting a server, connecting with strangers, sharing vulnerability) can bring ease and humor. · The joys of volunteering with puppies, finding novelty in animals, and noticing the small things that bring comfort. · Honest sharing about energy struggles, self-judgment, and learning to honor your body's signals. KEY TAKEAWAYS · You don't have to perform or mask to be worthy of connection. · Novelty and sameness can co-exist—it's about experimenting and noticing what feels supportive. · Authenticity often comes in small, ordinary moments that bring relief and connection. · Conflict and rejection are painful, but self-trust and curiosity can soften the edges. · Sensitivity is not something to apologize for—it's a way of being in the world. SOUND BITES "Show up as you are." "I felt very inadequate." "I really resist it." SENSITIVITY IS NOTHING TO APOLOGIZE FOR; IT'S HOW YOUR BRAIN IS WIRED You are not broken. You were shaped by systems that weren't built for you. You deserve rest, joy, and support exactly as you are. Send us a Positive Review! When Val first stumbled into the scholarship on transpersonal psychology (western psychology meets Eastern Spirituality meets the Perennial Tradition) she saw “transcend and include” on every page of this powerful scholarship. As she took this in, one part of her soul felt a recognition of truth. The other part of her soul shuddered a little and she mumbled to the universe (Eve-like) “Is there no other way?”After hundreds of hours of reading, thinking, and even dreaming about how people in and around the LDS church can truly grow beyond the current climate of polarization that exists…the answer feels clear to her– “there IS no other way” to truly find our deepest, most whole spiritual power and healing.
