“The Innovator's mindset can be defined as the belief that the abilities, intelligence, and talents are developed so that they lead to the creation of new and better ideas. ” - Excerpt From The Innovator's Mindset, George Couros Couros begins this second episode of Mindset Monday with a brief reflection on last week's episode about effort. This week, Couros focuses on obstacles. Throughout this episode of Mindset Monday, Couros shares ways he has “bounced forward.” Quotes: “People who cultivate a growth mindset are more resilient in the face of setbacks or obstacles. The growth mindset, after all, relishes the process of learning, not achievement” - The Growth Mindset Coach, Annie Brock & Heather Hundley “By altering the way we look at the challenges above (and many others that I haven't listed), we can shift from a mindset of obstacles to one of opportunities. This is the embodiment of the Innovator's Mindset.” - Couros, George; Novak, Katie, Innovate Inside the Box: Empowering Learners Through UDL and the Innovator's Mindset Resilience doesn't just mean getting back to normal after facing a difficult situation. It means learning from the process in order to become stronger and better at tackling the next challenge.”- Donna Volpitta Links: The Growth Mindset Coach (book on Amazon) - https://www.amazon.com/Growth-Mindset-Coach-Month-Month-ebook/dp/B01IMJVMIO The Innovator's Mindset (book on Amazon) - https://www.amazon.com/Innovators-Mindset-Empower-Learning-Creativity/dp/0986155497 Innovate Inside the Box - https://www.amazon.com/Innovate-Inside-Box-Empowering-Innovators/dp/1948334127 __________________________________________ Please share your thoughts with us on Twitter or Instagram at #InnovatorsMindset. George Couros shares a gym reflection about the Mindset Monday seasons - this new season will be focusing on the Innovator's Mindset and what it actually means. Couros reflects on how he built on the work by Annie Brock and Heather Hundley to include aspects of the innovator's mindset. This episode focuses on the idea of effort and throughout the next five weeks, Couros will take viewers and listeners through the five situations he wrote about in The Innovator's Mindset: effort, challenges, obstacles, criticism, and the success of others. As you listen to or watch this episode, consider ways to overpromise and over-deliver. How can expectations be set incredibly high and then how can we surpass those things? Couros reminds us that the highest expectations that we should live up to are our own. This is something that we can develop in ourselves. This episode of Mindset Monday gives a mix of personal stories, professional connections, and learning - all focused on the idea of effort! Quotes: “Hard work and effort are continuous…look to make time to create new solutions and ideas for growth.” - George Couros “The Innovator's mindset can be defined as the belief that the abilities, intelligence, and talents are developed so that they lead to the creation of new and better ideas. ” - Excerpt From The Innovator's Mindset, George Couros “The Curriculum doesn't limit you…it is the minimum for what you have to teach.” - George Couros "The fight is won or lost far away from the witnesses, behind the lines, in the gym and out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights." - Ali Links: The Growth Mindset Coach (book on Amazon) - https://www.amazon.com/Growth-Mindset-Coach-Month-Month-ebook/dp/B01IMJVMIO The Innovator's Mindset (book on Amazon) - https://www.amazon.com/Innovators-Mindset-Empower-Learning-Creativity-ebook/dp/B016YTBZKO/ref=sr_1_1?crid=713AVB9E3PNF&keywords=Innovators+mindset&qid=1688919945&s=digital-text&sprefix=innovators+mindse%2Cdigital-text%2C215&sr=1-1 Innovate Inside the Box - https://www.amazon.com/Innovate-Inside-Box-Empowering-Innovators-ebook/dp/B07WG9P1DX/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3LKMQPG9G420G&keywords=innovate+inside+the+box&qid=1688919974&s=digital-text&sprefix=innovate+inside+the+box%2Cdigital-text%2C216&sr=1-1 David Goggins - https://davidgoggins.com/ __________________________________________ Please share your thoughts with us on Twitter or Instagram at #InnovatorsMindset. The Leader Transition Institute prepares and walks beside people who are making pivots in their lives, with a special emphasis on service members, veterans, and their spouses who are transitioning from active military service to the civilian sector. LTI was launched in 2018 after the first session of what has become its flagship program, Changing Focus: Moving From We to Me. The program, designed for service members, veterans, and their spouses who are within 24 months of transitioning from active duty to the civilian sector, fills the gaps left by the DoD-mandated transition programs. Focusing on a holistic approach to establishing goals and renewing passions, Changing Focus helps service members take the next step in their careers. Since 2018, LTE has crisscrossed the United States bringing the program to North Carolina, Florida, the District of Columbia and California. In 2020, the team moved into the virtual arena because of COVID-19. More than 300 Service members, veterans, and their spouses in over 33 states, in six countries, across three continents have now participated in 34 cohorts of the program. Joining Shaun to talk about their individual service, the inception of LTI, and the programs on offer are President and CEO Annie Brock and Director Jose Velazquez.
