It's been another wild week around here with the Oilers rollercoaster making another loop, and I've got a fresh episode of Better Lait Than Never ready to recap it all. On today's podcast, I discussed the Oilers' potential playoff opponents, injury updates, Connor McDavid's willingness to carry this team forward, and more.I kicked off this week's episode with a look at the renewed beef between Chris Pronger and Kevin Lowe after the former's new book came out and shed some light on what went sideways in Edmonton. If you take Pronger at his word, the decision was made solely on trying to keep peace in his family. From Kevin Lowe's standpoint, however, his description of those events didn't really hold water. Changing gears, I looked ahead at the Oilers' playoff position and how wild it is that we still don't know who Edmonton will play or where they'll start, with only a single game left on the schedule. Combine that uncertainty with the unknowns of when some key players will be back in the lineup, and you've got the makings of a very nervous fanbase around here. Finally, I wrapped up this week's episode of BLTN with a Righteous Sack Beating about fake spring before closing out the podcast with another round of voicemails. The voicemail was very quiet this week, but I had a great time with everyone's takes landing all over the place. The voicemail is my favourite way to wrap up the show and give everyone a chance to share their thoughts. Another hearty thank you to everyone who contributed to this week's episode. Having all of you in the mix makes the show so much better. Want to leave a voicemail for next week's show? Do it here!

Thursday afternoon means a fresh episode of Real Life was recorded and edited, and it's ready to help you wrap up the week. On today's podcast, the guys discussed the Oilers' game-worn merch prices, Connor McDavid's point streak, Tristan Jarry's return to the lineup, the Jasper Pond Hockey tournament, and more. The guys kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life with a conversation about why Jay still can't show up for the podcast even though he is back from Mexico and technically in the building. According to Chalmers' accounting, Jay has missed eight straight podcasts, and it sounds like Chalmers will not let him off the hook for these absences. Will he ever come back and make another appearance on the Real Life podcast?Changing gears, the conversation turned to the prices Tyler found on some Oilers game-worn merch that's listed on the team store. As you'll hear, the Price is Right game that Tyler put together for Baggedmilk and Chalmers went precisely as he expected, considering that the other two boys kept coming up way light on their guesses. Sticking with the Oilers, the boys discussed Connor McDavid's point streak and how this is a point in time where our captain is playing so well that Edmonton games are becoming appointment viewing. Finally, the guys wrapped up the podcast with the Thursday episode of Real Life with a random collection of topics, including Tristan Jarry's return to the lineup, and what the Oilers will do with their goaltending going forward. They also discussed a few strategy points for the upcoming Jasper Pond Hockey tournament, and how the boys want to make some adjustments this year to give themselves the best chance to win. It's Tuesday afternoon, and there's a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio set, which means the boys were back in the studio to recap the week that was. On today's episode, the guys discussed the Oilers' Tuesday's matchup vs. the Flames, Connor Ingram's first win of the season, Baggedmilk's Trivia, and much more.We kicked off the Tuesday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about what has been the most surprising storyline of the NHL season so far. Whether it's the lack of success in Edmonton for Andrew Mangiapane or Trent Frederic for the Oilers, the Leafs struggling as mightily as they are, or how a team like the Ducks are fighting well above their weight class, there are plenty of stories to choose from. Changing gears, we looked at the latest injury updates from the Oilers. Given that Edmonton hasn't had a single game with a full, healthy lineup, the boys discussed the latest round of updates and whether the team will ever be able to ice a full roster. The guys also spent a few minutes talking about Trent Frederic being healthy scratched, and also what he needs to do to get back in the team's good graces. Finally, we wrapped up the episode of ONR with another round of Baggedmilk's Trivia, including some Oilers vs. Flames-specific questions ahead of Tuesday's Battle of Alberta. If you've heard any of the previous editions of BM's trivia, you'll know that Baggedmilk has been way off on some of the questions, which keeps Liam in the role of trivia marshal and auditor. Did Baggedmilk get his questions right? You'll have to listen to find out for sure.SHOUTOUT TO OUR SPONSORS!!Powered by @bet365. Whatever the moment, it's Never Ordinary at bet365. Monday afternoon means a fresh episode of Real Life was recorded, edited, and is ready to help you kick off your workweek. On today's podcast, the guys discussed Tyler's big betting weekend, the Elks' victory over the Roughriders, Connor McDavid's contract status, and explored other topics that arose. The guys started the Monday episode of Real Life with a discussion about a variety of random topics, including the COVID-19 hockey bubble and weird memories from that period in time. Needless to say, talking about sports during COVID times almost feels alien, given how everything is long back to normal less than five years later. Talking sports led Tyler to talk about his Saturday at the Elks game, and how it was an electric finish for both the team and his wallet.Changing gears, the guys walked through their squad ride bet for the Ryder Cup and how the weekend was not only entertaining but also profitable. The guys also discussed the player feedback after the tournament was done, and whether the crowd was getting too carried away with their chirps and barbs for the European players. Part of the discussion also centred on whether the noise was worse because the tournament took place in New York, an area known for its aggressive fans, even at the best of times. Finally, the guys wrapped up the Monday episode of Real Life with a random collection of topics, including the Connor McDavid contract situation, body language, and whether we're still reading way too much into the situation despite him still being unsigned. Sticking with contract discussions, the guys wrapped up the Monday episode of Real Life by wondering what is going on around the league and whether the other unsigned deals are making the same kind of waves. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed Kirill Kaprisov's contract situation in Minnesota, Mattias Ekholm wanting an extension, Oilers rookie camp, and much more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about whether or not the Kirill Kaprisov situation in Minnesota is affecting the Connor McDavid negotiations. According to reports, Kaprisov turned down a $16 million, eight-year contract, which led to speculation about whether this decision is delaying McDavid's extension signing in Edmonton. That conversation led to another round of the boys talking about whether they're starting to get nervous about the captain taking his time.Turning the podcast to tonight's rookie game between the Oilers and Flames, the guys walked through some of the prospects everyone is most excited to watch. While all eyes will be on Matt Savoie and Ike Howard, there are other prospects worth following throughout the weekend, as they work their way into professional hockey. The guys also shared their thoughts on the leaked alternate jerseys that hit the web this past week, and brought in a bunch of people from the office to provide their takes as well. Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of Ask the Idiots, betting talk for our friends at bet365, and Hot and Cold Performers to look back on the week. With just under a month to wait until the start of the 2025-26 season, the guys spent the bulk of the Friday episode discussing a range of topics, some related to the Oilers and others not, but that's what happens before training camps kick off. Things got off the rails quickly in the final hour as Tobin absolutely spiraled after Shams tweeted that Kevin Durant might be involved in trade talks with the Phoenix Suns. In true Tobin fashion, he started yelling out the window toward the Kaseya Center, as if Pat Riley might somehow hear his passionate plea to "do something!" and it better not just be Demar Derozan. Naturally, Leroy became the target of Tobin's redirected rage, and the two spent the better part of an hour in a hilarious, petty back-and-forth quibble. Despite all the yelling and sarcastic jabs, they somehow landed on the exact same point — classic. In the final hour, we cooled things off with some talk about baseball and football headlines, then turned our attention to tomorrow's Panthers vs. Oilers Game — and yes, we are fired up for it. Let's go Cats!
We kicked things off roasting the Oilers and Knicks—New York somehow got curved by two coaches without even a meeting. Brutal. Then it was all aboard the Road to Repeat, hyping up the Panthers and that one absolutely unhinged hockey dude we all love. Tobin and Leroy went full “Hour Tua,” breaking down Dolphins minicamp audio, Tua's self-awareness, and what it means for the season. Hot takes followed: Myles Garrett's QB graveyard, Burrow's calm confidence, and yes—Bill Belichick's young girlfriend made the show. Father's Day displays got roasted, Jaime Jaquez Jr. got real about mental health, and Leroy dropped a passionate rant. Then it was Rats Off a Ship time—Sandy Alcantara, Aaron Rodgers takes, and even cracked-out raccoons made the list. Finally, Tobin lost it over Durant-Suns trade rumors, yelling toward Pat Riley like he might actually hear him. Chaos ensued with Leroy, but somehow… they agreed in the end? We cooled it off with some baseball, football, and Panthers vs. Oilers Game 3 hype. Let's go Cats!
Let's do this! The Cult of Hockey podcast. By the Faithful and for the Faithful. Today Kevin McCurdy and David Staples of the Edmonton Journal dig into the Oilers of Edmonton's 6-1 loss to the Panthers of Florida.
