Even those who belong to Christ can find themselves hard at work on the hunt for happiness. Becca Smith, of our Memphis community, brings a relatable story of relying on self for success and meaning. But when Becca experienced a life-altering fall, the Lord literally and physically brought her low. In her year of healing, she put aside performance when the true object of her faith came into focus. In this episode, you will learn: The Lord uses suffering to grow our faith and remind us of truth. He teaches us to trust Him—but it takes time and is often through trials. We are only ever truly known and successful in Christ. I got to chat with Becca Smith, VP of Reimbursement with Caraday Healthcare, at the THCA 71st Annual Convention and Tradeshow this week! She inspired our pod today which covers the new and modern flexibility under the 1135 for therapy assistants to deliver skilled maintenance therapy services! Skilled maintenance programs are not new or modern but have historically required a qualified clinician for delivery (an evaluating PT, OT or SLP). The modern ability for assistants to deliver maintenance therapy allows for skilled therapists to observe and monitor for signs and symptoms of silent hypoxia prevalent in our contemporary post-COVID population. And, if you listen to entire episode, you'll get a chance to meet my sweet dog, Zia - she just can't help herself sometimes!

Sounds like a wild bonus episode, I know, but roll with me here girls! It can't come as a surprise to you all that preparing for tax returns, filing for self assessment and good old bookkeeping and accounting, are a continuous source of angst for so many of the female founders that I chat to, when I ask them to reveal the biggest challenges that they battle with as business owners behind the scenes. Be it that we're unsure of where to file certain expenses (because, let's face it, there's a whole lot of accounting categories to choose from nowadays), we struggle to keep on top of filing our receipts in general, or - like me - you aren't from an accounting background so find finance jargon to be somewhat puzzling; making sense of our business accounts isn't the most glamorous job that we all have to conquer as business owners but it is a job that, let's face it, can't be ignored.Especially when the self-assessment tax return deadline is fast approaching on 31st January and you are sat there, putting off filing yours for the first time... *cue the sweats*With that in mind, given that there's only a fortnight to go before the self-assessment deadline is due (and I know how stressed I was about the whole process this time last year when I sat down to file mine for the first time) along with the fact that so many of you have listed 'financial freedom' as a goal for 2020, I thought it was about time that I recorded a special episode of the She can. She did. podcast, to provide some clarity on all things tax returns and bookkeeping for you all. 'What does Fi know about tax returns?!' I hear you ask...Truth be told, only the basics if I'm being honest! However (and it's a big however!) if you’ve been following She can. She did. for a while now, you’ll know that Xero aka. the accounting software app cherished by so many business owners worldwide, myself included – has been sponsoring She can. She did. since October 2018. They were the first company to take a chance on little old me and this business of mine because they instantly recognised what She can. She did. stood for and is trying to achieve and for that, not only am I eternally grateful to them but I’m also going to be (unapologetically) raving about how helpful their accountancy software is for business owners like you and me, henceforth wherever I go... or at least, to any female founder who mentions that bookkeeping/ accounting/ managing their finances, preparing their tax return etc.. is their biggest headache, because quite simply, Xero has been a game changer for me!Last Monday morning therefore, I paid a visit to Xero HQ, to sit down for a chat with the wonderful Becca Smith who heads up all of the end-user education at Xero worldwide, to chat about how we can all prepare for the upcoming tax deadline (that is, if you haven’t done so already) and reduce any anxiety that we might hold when it comes to the topic of dealing with HMRC and filing your self-assessment. We also natter about how we can all better manage our bookkeeping throughout the year and why a simple change in mindset when it comes to the topic of accounts can empower us all and help us to really understand our business. Naturally, how Xero can help with all of the above does crop up too but I couldn’t help but bring it up because I genuinely swear by it!I really hope you find it useful (and not as humdrum as the title might suggest!)She can. She did. is hosted by me, Fiona Grayson (hello!) and is sponsored by xero.comFor a free one-month trial on Xero followed by 50% off for the next six months, please feel free to use the code, 'SCSD50' going forward! The good old social handles should you fancy a further peek! She can. It's that time Type 1s and Type Nones!! To say goodbye to Season 2 with one last banger of an episode!! As I mentioned last week I have back on Jennifer Bartels from Episode 2 and Becca Smith from Episode 6 but I ALSO have a third super secret surprise guest, Robin from Episode 8!! The three of them tell me the unexpected ways that Type 1 has inspired them to do some pretty awesome things. As all Season Finale Special episodes tend to, this episode is covering it all from how annoying 26-year-olds reporters with functioning pancreases can really be, the realization that we're all pretty amazing, and how the Type 1 fight is fought on many fronts and YOU can too!! It's the end of the season 2 y'all so from the very bottom of my less than fully functional pancreas, I thank you all for sticking with me and I'll see you all in 2020!! For many years fighter jets were specifically designed for individual military branches. In the 1990s, U.S. military leadership decided it would be more efficient to design one jet to meet the unique needs of the Air Force, Marines and Navy. In November of 1996, Lockheed Martin and Boeing competed to design the best X-plane solution to this new requirement. This would come to be known as the “battle of the X-planes”. Radar-guided missiles were an ever-growing threat to aircraft throughout the 60s, 70s and 80s. As they say, “necessity is the mother of invention,” and the creation of an invisible airplane that would come to be known as the F-117 Nighthawk was no exception. In 1943, the Germans were already using jet technology in combat. The United States military leadership was frantic for a jet fighter of their own to counter the new threat. An idea for a secret organization hidden within a large aeronautics company begins to take shape and at the root of this idea is a young American engineer. It was a time when computers were in their infancy. They were incredibly expensive and enormous with less processing power than an iPhone. Using little more than slide rules and pencils, a group of engineers designed one of the most advanced aircraft in aviation history. The year was 1958 and the aircraft they created was the SR-71 Blackbird. 75 years ago in Burbank, California, engineer Kelly Johnson devised an operational concept so unique it is still celebrated today. As the birthplace of many revolutionary technologies – from America’s first fighter jet to the classified programs of today – Skunk Works® sets the precedent for how our most critical and difficult problems are solved. This podcast brings to light the dark, classified world of the secret Lockheed Martin organization. First-hand accounts and stories passed down from generation to generation within the walls of Skunk Works are made public for the first time. And yes – we’ll talk about compact fusion! Oberon Design was born at a time before technology was what it is today. Neither social media or Ecommerce existed. In this episode, we talked to Oberon Vice-President, Becca Smith, who passionately shares their story and says "There's life beyond your phone". Becca - a cancer survivor - tells us how they've grown their handmade leather goods business, where they started promoting their goods at faires before getting their first website build in 2000. But she says: "We’ve made a good a living, but it’s never been about making a lot of money." Tune in as we speak about being unique, making things that are valuable and how customers rely on businesses to be honest. Some of the best quotes from the episode: “We make everything we make. So we can make our own decisions. We’re independent.” “People are more interested in American-made things today, but for years nobody cared.” “It’s hard for people to imagine that anything happens without the use technology.” “There is life beyond your phone.” “The most important thing is that you make something of valuable and something that is unique.” “We’ve made a good a living, but it’s never been about making a lot of money.” “It’s harder & harder to catch all the new waves in the marketplace. It takes a lot energy, savvy & smarts.” “Our customers rely on us for honesty and integrity.” “” Find Oberon elsewhere: Store: http://www.oberondesign.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/oberondesign YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/OberonDesigns Pinterest: http://www.pinterest.com/oberondesign Instagram: http://instagram.com/oberondesign Credits: Music featured in this episode was "Celery Man" by Birocratic and can be found at www.soundcloud.com/birocratic.
