Listen in as we discuss Dr. Borad's career path and her training to become a coach specializing in helping medical students thrive!Dr. Borad is a Concierge Family Medicine Physician and a coach for both medical students and Attending Physicians to prevent or treat burnout, gracefully manage all of the inevitable transitions that occur in a medical career, and discover a fulfilling career in medicine. She had the opportunity to experience life in Academic medicine for several years, during which her greatest joy was teaching medical students to believe in their clinical skills, contemplate their specialty choices and the population they want to serve, and accept the uncertainty of the healthcare profession. She was previously a Physician Leader (Clinic Medical Director, Department Wellness Director, and Department COVID-19 Lead Physician) and experienced burnout twice. During this time, she decided to invest in herself and collaborate with a Physician Coach, and it changed her life. She was able to develop the courage to acknowledge her burnout and openly discuss this with her supervisors. She advocated for myself to have a part-time schedule. She chose herself and walked away from a job that no longer aligned with her values. She found a way to practice medicine more sustainably (Concierge Medicine). She openly shared my experiences which had the ripple effect of allowing other burgeoning leaders to ask for more, ask for what they deserve. In fact, since she left her prior practice, they have allowed more Physicians to work part-time which has resulted in less burnout and more fulfillment amongst their Physicians. Her breadth of experiences allows her to confidently coach any medical professional, and her focus is the two ends of a continuum: those at the beginning of their journey (medical students) and those entrenched in Physician hood (Attending Physicians). That being said, she has also been coaching resident Physicians, so she truly enjoy coaching Physicians through all stages of their journey. Taking a turn away from the usual podKast format this week, we head back in time, not to 2005, but to 1985, and the much-maligned Colin Baker story Timelash. Over the past week, the Kasterborous team of Christian Cawley, Brian A Terranova and James McLean has watched Timelash (in varying degrees of completion) and they report back now, dear listener, for your interest and entertainment. Could it be that Glen McCoy’s script is, in fact, unfairly derided by fans, desperate to highlight a weak point of an already mixed run of episodes? For those of you who don't know, Timelash - this week's only recommendation - stars Colin Baker and Nicola Bryant as the Doctor and Peri, who find themselves on the planet Karfel were the population are terrorised by the sinister Borad. Guest starring Paul Darrow as the villainous Tekker and including a historical figure in the proceedings, the story has long been lambasted by fans.
Because of a complicated situation involving Mandrels, Bandrils, the Borad and the Swarm, the Three Who Rule kept it (somewhat) brief this week, focusing on conserving their energies for the onslaught of Gallifrey coverage coming your way in a mere week and change. News included the casting of "An Adventure in Space and Time," the increasingly intruiging dramatization of the early days of Doctor Who, DVD news, analysis of the upcoming insanely detailed (and expensive) David Tennant figure, and a tribute to Bernard Horsfall, a veteran Classic Who actor who left us all too soon this week. But since this is Radio Free Skaro, there was also pointless debate about the Mask of Omega, the overall quality of the Three Doctors, the Two Doctors and other classic stories, and speculation about just what the BBC is holding back (if anything) regarding their celebratory plans for the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who. Enjoy this short(er) but sweet(er) episode, which will lighten the weight of your portable listening device! Don't question that last statement, it is SCIENCE.
The Doctor travels with a famous writer while Scott and Matt debate the merits of the Colin Baker 2-part serial “Timelash”. The Doctor and Peri arrive on the planet Kontron where they take on the planet’s despotic ruler, the Borad. … Continue reading →
