And that's, you know, when you take responsibility, of course, that's when you're taking your power back. And that's, that's where change happens.” [13:23] “I had to radically redesign my expectations about what change looked like for me, and to recognize what women expect to occur in a month versus being patient to the kind of change that you can create in a year with consistency and persistence.” [14:56] “When life is not adding up, it's time to start subtracting.” [21:49] “Whatever you're resisting, you can mask it, hide it, whatever, but it will persist until you face it, deal with it. This one was very hard to do But in light of George Floyd and so many others it must be shared. It is personal and I share my shame. It is a healthy shame today. A shame that I can understand. Not a toxic shame that screams defective. A loving shame that points to the evil and arrogance we were never intended to indulge. In a way it is a confession and testimony of change. I fear it because the toxic shame whispers “you will be judged” yet the Spirit is saying in vulnerability and grace there is healing, not only for yourself but others.

On the outside it looks like you have everything. The perfect family, job, home, the kids, you have it all. Why are you still so miserable? Cynthia Battino, life coach, energy worker, speaker, author, life changer and happiness expert shares how she transformed her life from miserable to marvelous by the learning to change the story in her head. She shares how she was empowered to make changes, to learn new ways of being, to look at the good, and to set herself up for happiness. Cindy knows that what we focus on grows! Cindy talks about how we can experience internal happiness by releasing guilt, shame, and judgement and by being more open and curious about our lives. Cindy ackowledges, "we have choices we can either recreate the past or create something new." We can make tiny shifts in the way we look at life that can empower us to find happiness NOW. Cindy knows that change is hard and that having a coach, mentor, or guide along the path can help you understand your choices and bring you the freedom to flourish. When you focus on possibility, options, and growth your happiness expands. The brain is hard wired to take in the negative, but because of neuroplasticity, you can rewire your brain to the positive. Focus on the good, assume the best, and free yourself of limiting beliefs! Check out Cindy’s program “Happiness is a Verb.”

Today’s show is a combination of 2 of my loves, music and sports. The first “make the best of what’s around” tells us about some very courageous folks who seem to know how to get by and get ahead in spite of major obstacles. The second tale “the daily racing form” is sage advice if you’re looking to get to winner’s circle in the most important race you’ll ever run.

It's a holiday gift to my loyal listeners. Now my gift is not one of those traditional holiday food gifts, or seasonal plants, it is something much more significant and useful. This is something that you can use daily and it allows for a calmer, less stressful lifestyle. My gift is relaxation. The progressive relaxation exercise that we are going to do was devised in 1929 by Dr. Edmund Jacobson. This consists of tensing various muscle groups and relaxing themFor you the listener, you get the easy job, pay attention to the tensing and relaxing of muscles, breathing and then relaxing. If this exercise works for you, practice it, and make it part of your healthy routine.
