The home fires may be burning in your home as we together listen on the radio and watch TV about the travel challenges many are facing throughout the country. Upon my return from travel to Seattle during the holiday season, I was welcomed with 20 degree below zero weather. However, my heart was warmed as I listened to the phone messages and read the many cards, letters, and precious thoughts which I received - you all really made my day. Among the thoughts sent to me was a letter from my friend, Dr Green in Vermillion, South Dakota. She included thoughts from an unknown author, which I feel are so warm and precious and need to be shared with you, dear readers of this Warm Thoughts column. "When the song of the angels is still, when the star in the sky is gone, when the kings and princes are home, when the shepherds are back with the sheep, the work of Christmas begins to find the lost, to heal the broken, to feed the hungry, to release the prisoner, to rebuild the nations, to bring peace among people, to make music in the heart." I was also reminded the Lifelines Magazine that January 21st is National Hugging Day, and a dear friend in Florida sent me the poem entitled, "Hugs for Everyone." "It's wondrous what a hug can do. A hug can break the language barrier and make your travels so much merrier. No need to fret about the store of them. The more you give, the more there are of them. So stretch those arms without delay, and give someone a hug today." Thank you, dear friend - a hug for you across the miles. Many of the readers of this warm thoughts column are aware that I write these lines a week before you have the opportunity to read the column. When you read this column, I will have returned from the International Congress on the Family, which was held on July 5th - 9th in Denver, Colorado. So stay tuned to this column as I will share with you my personal experiences and thoughts from this Congress. As I write these lines, they're anticipating 6,000 participants from all over North America and around the world at this International Congress. Those who come we hope will gain a fresh perspective and a renewal of hope for the future of the family and for Christian family values. As I anticipate my attendance at this Congress, I cannot help but reflect on the International Congress for the Family held in England in July 1990. It was my joy to be in England that year and serve on the publicity committee for that Congress. Opening that Congress was the Princess of Wales and among the many outstanding speakers was Mother Teresa of Calcutta. Mother Teresa closed the conference with the theme, "Family - Community of Love." She has inspired many in servant leadership in her work with the poor and the sick. She won the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize. Her love and concern for children has inspired many people to be advocates for the children of the world. Few people have matched the contributions this saintly woman has made to mankind. Now in her 80s, she continues her service to humanity. The 1995 International Congress on the family in Denver is a joint effort of the American Association of Christian counselors and Focus on the Family. Stay tuned and experience with me a landmark event, renewing our hope together for the future of the family. Warm Thoughts: Your kindness influences your children. Your humor influences your home. Warm greetings from the Little Home on the Prairie and a Happy New Year! When you read the first column of Warm Thoughts for this new year, your thoughts may still be reflecting on memories of your traditional Christmas with friends and family. How exciting to pass on those wonderful traditions to our children and grandchildren! We can have generations of memories. In December, I took you around the world in my Christmas memories. Christmas 1994 was Christmas in Ohio for me. The highlight for me was to be able to attend my grandchildren's Christmas programs. And of course they were angels and singing angels too. We grandparents seem to think we have almost perfect grandchildren and for some reason they love to be actors and actresses. During the program, granddaughter Rosa's halo seemed to always be slipping, and sometimes even fell off. While all this was happening, I glanced at her father while we all sang "Silent Night." He was falling asleep, gently nodding as we sang, "sleep in heavenly peace." Traveling the Greyhound bus to and from Ohio can be quite an experience and meeting interesting people. On the way to Ohio I became educated in the field of Geology as my seat partner was a dear lady from Belgium who had her doctorate and that science. On the way home, across from me was a young man studying Environmental Science at the Heidelberg University in Ohio. My world became a little larger as I listened to all of those scientific thoughts. How good it is to return after a long trip to "Home Sweet Home" and over a cup of tea, be able to write these thoughts. Now, as I reflect on 1994 I can't help but think, "Where has the year gone? Where have all the years gone?" I would like to share these Warm Thoughts with you for the year 1995: May you have enough happiness to keep you sweet, enough trials to keep you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, enough hope to keep you happy, enough failure to keep you humble, enough success to keep you eager, enough friends to give you comfort, enough enthusiasm to look forward, enough faith to banish depression, enough determination to make each day better than yesterday. The Labor Day weekend provides a great holiday for families who still need a few more days vacation. September is when we start counting the days of summer we still have left. September is also the month for Grandparents Day. This past summer, the grandchildren came to vacation at the little home on the prairie. One day I heard the older grandchildren laughing upstairs. They had found grandma's humor box. The youngest grandchild, very active two-year-old, Trevor, keeps everyone challenged. Grandma would rub his back at naptime. When he returned home from vacation, he ordered his dad, "Rub my back!" It is a real joy to receive many warm thoughts from the readers of this column. Recently, someone sent a poem which I will share with you. "Hugs for Everyone." It's wondrous what a hug can do. A hug can cheer when you're blue. A hug can say, "I love you so," or "Gee, I hate to see you go." A hug is, "Welcome back again!" And "Great to see you, where have you been?" A hug can soothe a small child's pain and bring a rainbow after rain. The hug! There's just no doubt about it, we scarcely could survive without it. A hug delights and warms and charms and must be why God gave us arms. Hugs are great for fathers and for mothers. Sweet for sisters, swell for brothers. And chances are, some favorite aunts love them more than potted plants. Kittens crave them. Puppies love them. Heads of State are not above them. A hug can break the language barriers and make your travels so much merrier. No need to fret about the store of them. The more you give, the more there are of them. So stretch those arms without delay and give someone a hug today. The second installment to the 2 part episode entitled: What architecture school did not teach you?DRAWING BY HAND IS A NECESSARY SKILL TO MASTER ARCHITECTUREThe argument is to make sure that architecture is rooted in the arts and humanities and not entirely a technology-driven endeavour.  The essential mastering of spatial experience drawn by hand, over and over again, developing the plan and section, space, volume, and detail is not only for houses and small-scale buildings but complex buildings. The architect would be taken out of the equation if they disregard the fact that architecture is designed inside out and not outside in. If architects are now solely fascinated by technology, the profession is no more different than engineers and building surveyors. Talk Architecture 2023, Author: Naziaty Mohd Yaacob.  Photo credit: Interim  Crit Kg Kerinci Elderly Day Care Centre project by Zi Shuang, from left, Lisa Foo, BC Ang (partly hidden), Chris Wong, Kevin Mark Low, Naziaty and Zi Shuang; Author: Unknown.Support the showDo subscribe for premium content and special features which will help to support and sustain Talk Architecture podcast on a more in-depth explanation on design thesis and processes. "Hold the Vision, Trust the Process" Author Unknown...Artists bring artwork into existence with determination, perseverance, and courage. Their original vision can go through many edits and transformation during the process. The day to day studio practice can be fulfilling and stressful all during the same project. Val and Armin discuss their own struggles and joys in being artists. Everyone's life is enriched by the many ways artists categorized as visual, performing and/or literary contribute original concepts that bring awareness, beauty, and life quality to the world. Motivation for artists to continue this important work often begins early in an artist's life. This drive is made stronger as the artist studies, and bonds with other artists. Finding their artist community is important to keep the momentum alive and well. Artists also discover their "why" later in life when their schedules allow time for personal passions. This time period can be very fulfilling and rewarding for those artists. If you are an artist, treaure your journey and be proud of your accomplishments. For friends, fans and family of artists, be thankful you have them in your lives and let them know you admire their imagination. The world needs art more than ever to help us process emotions and improve mental health. Ask a narcissist if they are dependable and they will say, I'm the most responsible person you know, you can always count on me. And they can be. But when the rubber meets the road (an old saying about being put to the test), narcissists seem to wiggle out of accountability. Why? Narcissists will gladly be responsible for the things they deem worthy, especially when it provides an opportunity to be the center of attention. However, when others place responsibility on the narcissist, the narcissist sees this as an attempt to control them. This violates one of their personal mantras: no one will have power over them. So they escape from all liability. How? Intimidate/Blame. The narcissist begins by bullying the person endeavoring to hold them accountable. Frequently they resort to name-calling and belittling to assert dominance over the other person. Once a subordinate position has been established, they blame the person for attempting to make the narcissist look less than superior. Accuse/Project. To circumvent any accountability, the narcissist preempts the attack by accusing another person. Usually, they pick an overly responsible, co-dependent person who idolizes the narcissist. Then the narcissist projects the things they are answerable for onto the other person. Thus escaping before the attack. Argue/Exhaust. This is the simplest tactic with great immediate results. When confronted, the narcissist picks one small detail and argues it to the umpteenth degree. If the other person argues back, they pick another tiny point and persistently wear down their opponent. Exhausted, frustrated, and annoyed, the other person gives up holding the narcissist liable. Deny/Rewrite. One way of avoiding responsibility is for the narcissist to deny they have any. Even if the item is written down, the narcissist will make excuses and rewrite history. Frequently they take the victim role by saying they were forced into being held accountable when in actuality they willingly did so. This tactic often leaves the other person questioning themselves and their memory. Divert/Attack. This method begins with an outburst over something very insignificant. Then, the narcissist exaggerates the point to incite the other person and draw their attention away from what really is happening. Whenever the narcissist is fueling a small fire, it is to keep the focus off the inferno somewhere else. The diversion is done to drain resources, energy, and time so the narcissist can attack when the other person is vulnerable. Fear/Avoid. Narcissists have the ability to take a person's small fear and turn it into paranoia. Their charisma is put to destructive use as they weave a believable story with an intense dreadful outcome. Once the other person is frightened, the narcissist uses the other person's terror as justification for avoiding responsibility. They often cite that the other person is reactionary and therefore any requests from the other person should be discounted. Rescue/Retreat. This tactic is the most manipulative of the bunch. First, the narcissist rescues the other person from a dreadful situation. Having gained the other person's loyalty, the narcissist waits. Eventually, the other person confronts the narcissist about a lack of responsibility, and then the narcissist retreats. The withholding of love/attention/time is so dramatic that the other person becomes horrified and assumes responsibility so that the narcissist will return. Once secured, the narcissist then accuses the other person of not appreciating the rescue. The other person feels bad and succumbs to the wishes of the narcissist even further. - Author Unknown  --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/donavon-riley/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/donavon-riley/support

"Grandparents are voices of the past and the door to the future. They provide us with the wisdom from a lifetime of experience that should never be undervalued." - Author Unknown. This generation of young people will be the first generation in all of history that will be able to reach the entire world (through electronic devices) and the entire world can reach them. This generation will have more access to more information than any generation before them, but may have trouble discerning what is true. They will have relationships online with millions of people they don't know, but will struggle to find intimacy and in depth, reliable friendships they can trust. This generation will crave safe haven and inclusion while trolling across the web through apps that do not value their worth or vulnerabilities. This generation of grandparents has one of the greatest missions of all time, but also one of the greatest challenges in crossing over the digital jungle to build trust, empathy, exchange humor and build pride between themselves and their grandchildren. Grandparents can get away with things parents can not. They can listen, and laugh and provide gentle guidance. They can tell stories of their lives so kids will know they are part of a long line of successful people. Grandparents can provide safe haven and inclusion and teach a young person how to relax and accept their own flaws while practicing self discipline, setting goals and developing a strong self image. At Million Kids, we believe informed and prepared grandparents are the greatest weapon against a child becoming a victim of sex trafficking or social media exploitation. You are never too old to make a difference. We need more grandmas and grandpas, omas, opas, grammys, papas, nanas, grannys, pops, memaws, grams and gramps (or whatever affectionate term your grandchildren call you) to build a generation of young people who know who they are and what they stand for. They are more likely to have grandkids who are leaders and will educate others against taking short cuts that will lead to exploitation. TO ALL THE GRANDPARENTS OUT THERE MILLION KIDS SALUTES YOU! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/million-kids/support

Series: Colossians: Supreme!Title: “How to tell Good News from Fake News”Scripture: Colossians 2:6-7(Commentary helps listed at the end)Bottom line this week: We can tell fake news from good news as we live our lives firmly in the truth by beinggrounded in the truth, growing and bearing fruit through the truth, and beinggrateful in the truth that Christ Jesus is Lord of all…including of my life.Today I want to answer the question: How do we tell truth from lies?It has been most frustrating the past 5 years especially to tell the truth from lies. On the news, on the internet, on COVID-19, on election counts, on CRT, on you name it.And even within the truth, we have universalism, legalistic teachings and we have prosperity gospel teachings and it's pretty easy to be confused on what's true and what's not.The Apostle Paul had to deal with this same challenge too. And in a church that he'd never been to a thousand miles away. We can learn a lot from Paul on how to tell the truth from lies.Opening story:Then there's the MS story. This middle eastern woman comes to Christ and immediately starts making disciples who make disciples. When her future husband meets her she's already started 25 house churches of about 250 people in 5 cities. When she moves to America with her new husband (Pastor X) she eventually finds herself depressed saying,“The western Church is under a satanic lullaby and I'm going to sleep. And every time I want to wake up the lullaby goes faster.”When they returned to this middle eastern country she was from, the movement then grew to 5,000.Leaders are “making a mess of the country and Jesus is just the cleanup crew.” -Pastor X1,300 leaders arrested that year—enemy #1 was the house church movement.Q. Why is persecution not growing the church? pastor x asked God.God answered, “You made converts, not disciples. Converts run away from persecution. Disciples will die for me.”“Because she encountered me she will die for me. You must give the word of God but it must be sealed by the power of God.”Now doing a disciple making movement (DMM).As some are running to the mountains for their lives and staying in caves, they are also starting up their zoom meetings so they can reach more people for Jesus. Wow.20:21 mark: “The only way to change a nation is through discipleship.” -Steve T. “…Through love.”2 weeks ago I preached: Psalm 1, “Who Influences You Most?”Bottom line: Let God influence you more than anyone else, so that whatever you do you prosper. This flows right from that one because God influences us most through his word and his Spirit.Bottom line this week: We can tell fake news from good news as we live our lives firmly in the truth by beinggrounded in the truth, growing and bearing fruit through the truth, and beinggrateful in the truth that Christ Jesus is Lord of all…including of my life.Colossians 2:6-7 are hinge verses in the letter. Hinges on a door, when working properly, make the door open and close properly. When aren't, they don't.2 Kinds of KnowledgeIn French, there are two different words for ‘to know'.One (savoir) means to know a fact,The other (connaître) means to know a person.God is more interested in us knowing people than facts. The most important knowledge of all is knowing God and being known by him. Even this is not the end though. It is never enough simply to have knowledge – you must also have love. -Nicky GumbelPace's outline (Outline I'm using today)“God calls us to grow in our walk with Christ in order to strengthen our faith and find our fulfillment in him.”I. We must deepen our intimacy with Christ. (2:6-7)A. We are called to be grounded. (6-7)B. We are called to be growing. (7)C. We are called to be grateful. (7)James 1:5-8 if any of you lacks wisdom you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double minded and unstable in all they do.Colossians 1:15-20ConclusionFinal illustration:As I reflect on Tun Keller's summary of Larry Hurtado's main points in his book, I see a lot of wisdom to help me lead our church going forward.I learned about this article while having lunch with Neal McGlohon. He summarized the o5 points in a slightly different order . Neal shared it this way:1. The early church was multi-racial and experienced a unity across ethnic boundaries that was startling. (Democrat, Progressive concerns)3. The early church was famous for its hospitality to the poor and the suffering. (Democrat, Progressive concerns)2. The early church was a community of forgiveness and reconciliation. (What both sides thinks it's doing when in fact what we see is fighting for power)4. It was a community committed to the sanctity of life. (Republican; conservative concerns)5. It was a sexual counterculture. (Republican; conservative concerns)Final applications:I. Grounded: Born to walk having personally received Christ in all his fullness…II. Growing: Walk in/with Christ rooted and built up...III. Walk believing the gospel in all of life—not just eternal life…IV. Grateful: Walk in gratitude. The old saying still holds. If he's not Lord of all he's not Lord at all.Is he Lord of your life?Does your life reflect that outwardly? If not, let's prayerfully repent asking him to restore us, reconcile us and transform us so that we gladly surrender to his word, his ways and his work.PrayLord's Supper, 1 Corinthians 11:17-32OtherHugh's outline“Paul's protective charge to the Colossians” or “What's the walk that protects like?“I. A Birth Walk. (6) “This means out experience of first coming to Christ out to mirror how we walk in him all the days of our lives.”What was our spiritual genesis like?A. Receive him > accepting himThey received teaching and traditions handed down about Christ. They received not just Jesus but Jesus in all his fullness. They received him as Christ/Messiah/King.They received him, “As one who fulfilled messianic prophesies of OT“They received him as living prophet, priest, and king. They received him as a historical person rooted in humanity through the incarnation.Jesus = Joshua = The Lord is (my) salvationCapt of salvation—there is no otherThey received him as Lord—not just Savior (this is big)Billy Graham says in the Annals of America: “No man can be said to be truly converted to Christ who has not bent his will to Christ. He may give intellectual assent to the claims of Christ and may have had emotional religious experiences; however, he is not truly converted until he has surrendered his will to Christ as Lord, Savior and Master.”Spurgeon comments on this, saying: “It is interesting to notice that the Apostles preached the Lordship of Christ. The word Savior occurs only twice int he Acts of the Apostles (Acts 5:31, 13:23). On the other hand it is amazing to notice the title “Lord” is mentioned 92 times; “Lord Jesus” 13 times; and “The Lord Jesus Christ” 6 times in the same book. The Gospel is: “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved.”They received him as Lord will help resist gnosticizing influences around us.Major cults have defective doctrines of ChristMormonsJehovah WitnessesChristian ScienceLike gnostics, they say that they believe in ChristBut what kind of Christ?LegalismProsperity gospelII. Walk in him (6b, 7a) Walk—how?A. In him…B. Rooted and…Tumbleweed vsPsalm 1C. Built up in himIII. A Walk in Faith (7b)A. Same faithIn salvationIn sanctificationB. A healthy Christian walk spills over withGratitude (for what He's done)Praise (for who He is)B. Every once in a while, a ewe will give birth to a lamb and reject it. There are many reasons she may do this. If the lamb is returned to the ewe, the mother may even kick the poor animal away. Once a ewe rejects one of her lambs, she will never change her mind. These little lambs will hang their heads so low that it looks like something is wrong with its neck. Their spirit is broken. These lambs are called “bummer lambs.” Unless the shepherd intervenes, that lamb will die, rejected and alone. So, do you know what the shepherd does?He takes that rejected little one into his home, hand-feeds it and keep it warm by the fire. He will wrap it up with blankets and hold it to his chest so the bummer can hear his heartbeat. Once the lamb is strong enough, the shepherd will place it back in the field with the rest of the flock. But that sheep never forgets how the shepherd cared for him when his mother rejected him. When the shepherd calls for the flock, guess who runs to him first? That is right, the bummer sheep. He knows his voice intimately. It is not that the bummer lamb is loved more, it just knows intimately the one who loves it.It's not that it is loved more, it just believes it because it has experienced that love one on one.So many of us are bummer lambs, rejected and broken. But He is the good Shepherd. He cares for our every need and holds us close to His heart so we can hear His heart beat.We may be broken but we are deeply loved by the Shepherd. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.~ Psalm 23"Author Unknown "

He grew up in another obscure village where he trained and worked as a carpenter until he was thirty. He never wrote a book. He never held an office. He never went to college. He never traveled more than two hundred miles from the place where he was born. He did none of the things usually associated with greatness. He had no credentials but himself. He was only thirty-three. His friends abandoned him. He was turned over to his enemies and went through the mockery and humiliation of an unjust trial. He was nailed to a cross between two thieves. While dying, his executioners gambled for his clothing, the only property he had on earth at his death. He was laid in a borrowed grave. All the armies that have ever marched, all the navies that have ever sailed, all the governments that have ever governed, and all the kings who have ever reigned have not affected the life of humankind on earth as powerfully as that one solitary life. – Author Unknown Pause with me for a moment and look back through your calendar over the past year. Deeper still, pick up your smartphone or computer and take five minutes right now to scroll through your photos from the last twelve months. No doubt, it was a year to remember. For all of us in ways big or small, it was a year of shaking. I'm curious where your heart is landing as the year comes to a close. Or if you have even had the margin to check in and notice where your heart is during these days. I offer this podcast as an invitation to remember and also pause and reflect again on the impact of the coming of the Messiah on all that is unfolding in our lives and in our world. With the help of a Zechariah the Priest, who faithfully served at his post for nearly four decades in daily anticipation for the Arrival of the King, let's look back and look forward. Let's feel the depth and breadth of our heart's journey over this past year, and let us turn to the hope of the Revolution that is at hand in our stories and in the lives of all those we hold dear.  In this podcast, I feature an extended quote from The Indescribable Gift, written by Richard Exeley and illustrated by Phil Boatright. I strongly encourage you to pick up a copy and tuck it away with your Advent wreath to revisit each December. It's out of print but you can still pick up a used copy through Amazon. May the action of our Coming King in you and through you refresh your heart and enliven your hope as you prepare and anticipate his Coming Again. Finally, may we be reminded of why it matters and what it brings to the world through your lives, by watching this moving video shared with our community through one of our alumni: https://youtu.be/Fz1q8NWbExc For the Kingdom, Morgan

Have you ever heard this quote... “Create a life that feels good on the inside, not one that simply looks good from the outside.” ~Author Unknown?  When I first heard it, I was quick to post it on my Social Media feed because it sounded like an inspiring thing to say, and I am all about inspiring!  But I often thought about the meaning of that quote and if my life matched up to it.  It was through this introspection that I started asking myself if I was as happy on the inside as I looked on the outside.  You see it is easy to look the part, but another thing to live the part.  So, that is how this Podcast was birthed...during my quest to "Create a life that feels good on the inside, not one that just looks good on the outside!  I made a conscious decision to CHOOSE HER!  I chose to be Happy, Empowered, and Resilient!  Now, I want to help you Choose to be H.E.R., so you too can say...I not only look good on the outside, but I feel good on the inside!

”Every minute someone leaves this world behind. We are all in “the line” without knowing it. We never know how many people are before us. We can not move to the back of the line. We can not step out of the line. We can not avoid the line. So while we wait in line - Make moments count. Make priorities. Make the time. Make your gifts known. Make a nobody feel like a somebody. Make your voice heard. Make the small things big. Make someone smile. Make the change. Make love. Make up. Make peace. Make sure to tell your people they are loved. Make sure to have no regrets. Make sure you are ready.” ~Author Unknown

It's not always easy to be loving and welcoming to people different from us. But in a world with 7 billion people chances are you will meet someone that is hard to welcome and hard to love. We love them anyways. "The heart of hospitality is when people leave your home, they should feel better about themselves, not better about you." Author Unknown

Podcast #12: Setting Healthy Boundaries (Without Going Overboard)   What are boundaries? Boundaries are guidelines that a person creates to identify for themselves what are reasonable, safe and permissible ways for other people to behave around them and how they will respond when someone steps outside those limits. It's what you set when something doesn't feel okay for you or if it is imposing on your values (intentional or not). They can be physical (i.e. personal space), emotional (separating your feelings from another person's, protecting yourself from criticism) or intellectual (your ideas and beliefs) They can be loose (I'll do whatever you want and ignore my own feelings) or rigid (my way or the highway in every situation) (--either extreme is not healthy)   Why are boundaries important? They keep us out of resentment. They help us practice self-care and self-respect. They make time and space for healthy interactions. They minimize stress and conflict in relationships. They help us define ourselves (where do you end and I begin?)   Why is it hard for most of us to set and keep healthy boundaries? FEAR of rejection and, ultimately, abandonment. FEAR of confrontation. GUILT or shame We were not taught healthy boundaries. Safety Concerns (such as in an abusive relationship) What are some examples of healthy boundaries? (Credit to Kathy Keeler)    “Yes, I'll be happy to drive you to the mall as soon as you're finished with your chores.”    “I want to hear about your day. I'll be free to give you my full attention in 15 minutes.”    “You can borrow my CDs just as soon as you replace the one that you damaged.”    “If you put your dirty clothes in the hamper by 9:00 Saturday morning, I'll be happy to wash them for you.”    “Can I give Jessica a message? Our calling hours are from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. I'll let her know that you called.”    “I'm sorry; that doesn't work for me.  I won't be loaning you money until you have paid me what I loaned you previously.”    “You're welcome to live here while you're going to college as long as you follow our rules.”    “I'm not willing to argue with you.”    “I'll be happy to talk with you when your voice is as calm as mine.”    “I love you and I'm not willing to call in sick for you when you've been drinking.”   Tips for setting healthy boundaries:   When you identify the need to set a boundary, do it clearly, firmly, respectuflly and in as few words as possible. You don't need to justify, do it in anger, or apologize for boundaries that you set. Try to collaborate when possible. Remember that you are not responsible for the person's reaction to your boundary, you are only responsible for communicating your boundary in a respectful manner.   Creating a personal bill of rights (read this list and use the ones that speak to you! Author: unknown)   Personal Bill of Rights   I have the right to ask for what I want. I have the right to say no to requests or demands I cannot meet. I have the right to express all of my feelings, positive or negative. I have the right to change my mind. I have the right to make mistakes and not have to be perfect. I have the right to follow my own values and standards. I have the right to say no to anything when I feel I am not ready, it is unsafe, or it violates my values. I have the right to determine my own priorities. I have the right not to be responsible for others' behaviors, actions, feelings, or problems. I have the right to expect honesty from others. I have the right to be angry at someone I love. I have the right to be uniquely myself. I have the right to feel scared and say, "I'm afraid." I have the right to say, "I don't know." I have the right not to give excuses or reasons for my behavior. I have the right to make decisions based on my feelings. I have the right to my own needs for personal space and time. I have the right to be playful and frivolous. I have the right to be healthier than those around me. I have the right to be in a non-abusive environment. I have the right to make friends and be comfortable around people. I have the right to change and grow. I have the right to have my needs and wants respected by others. I have the right to be treated with dignity and respect. I have the right to be happy. ~ Author Unknown ~   xo,   Jenny and Lisa, co-hosts The Mind Your Body Podcast

No matter how much I protest, I am totally responsible for everything that happens to me in my life. ~ Author Unknown ~   Take a moment to reflect on how many times per day your mind rejects what your imagination dreams up. It then may dawn on you as no surprise that many of us live our daily lives with self-limiting behaviors. When we come to realize that it is our own self-limiting thoughts that are creating and constraining our realities and preventing us from creating the life we want to live out , we then can start to take action and move from a restrictive mindset to one where manifesting our goals and dreams is second nature. Manifesting through conscious creation is defined as a product of change brought through the direction of consciousness. When one can start thinking with this awareness in mind, one can take an active role in accepting their imagination as a catalyst for truly realizing their dreams, and going beyond their current reality.     Learn more about The Marketing Parlour podcast here!   Articles mentioned: Lack of Purpose & Direction Can Lead To Massive Job-Hopping Navigating the Rendeveouz With Your Shadow Self   The Coaching Parlour Podcast!
