Well, we have seen that what has figured in significantly in this last part of chapter 20 of First Samuel is what's known as the new moon. Now that is a new month in Judaism, and the word for month is the word Chodesh, which is derived from the word for new. But here's something important. When we look at that word new in the Bible, it can also have the concept of change, and we're going to see that there's a change within this passage. To donate please visit us at:https://loveisrael.org/donate/Checks may be sent to:LoveIsrael.org

Preparation for Chodesh Nissan and Leil Haseder, Realizing Our Tafkid (Vayakhel-Pekudei 5786)
Shiur given by Rabbi Ben Zion Bamberger on Mussar Shmooze. Shiur recorded in Yeshivas Ohr Reuven, Monsey, NY.
B"H What does God want most? The first mitzvah: הַחֹדֶשׁ הַזֶּה לָכֶם — the ability to begin again. Before anything else, God gave us renewal. Not perfection. Not “fix everything.” Just this: you can restart, right now. “Chodesh” comes from “chadash” — new. Every moment is a chance to turn, reset, and come back. You don't need to fix your whole life. Just make one decision: I'm starting again. Chodesh Tov

Parashat P'qudai [Exodus 38:21-40:38] concludes the book of Exodus. It also coincides with Shabbat Ha-Hodesh, the fourth special shabbat preceding Passover [beginning this year, Saturday night, April 12]. We spent some time discussing the end of the Book of Exodus, with the erection of the mishkan, and what that might mean for our understanding of the book as a whole. We also discussed the maftir reading for Ha-Hodesh [Exodus 12:1-20], considering the significance of the calendar. We remain ever mindful of the hostages, dead and alive, who remain in Gaza. May they be restored immediately to their families. We also keep in mind the soldiers defending Israel as part of Israel's Defense Forces, may they be removed from harm's way. Shabbat Shalom.

Eve Harow gives a detailed recap of her last week and the very intense Women's Division she planned and guided for One Israel Fund in the Western Negev, Yehuda, Shomron and the Jordan Valley. They met incredible women running security ‘situation centers'; being immensely creative in many spheres; sharing the challenges of life with husbands at war or wounded or worse; holding the land via their ranches; fixing whatever needs to be fixed; willing to be brutally honest about their lives. It was an exhausting and exhilarating experience. And cold. Chodesh tov- the month of Adar brings joy.
