(This podcast was previously published on July 16, 2021) Jesus Ministries, Joan Boney ... Matthew 24:12-13 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. We, the elect of God, endure by following that which is brought to our mind by the Holy Spirit. Remember the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth and HE will: teach us all things, remind us of all that Jesus has said, guide us into all truth, and show us things to come. (John 14:26 & John 16:13) Also God will not fail us nor forsake us. (Joshua 1:5 & Hebrews 13:5) Jesus says: John 6 35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to ME shall never hunger; and he that believeth on ME shall never thirst. 39-40 And this is the Father's will which hath sent ME, that of all which HE hath given ME I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. 40 And this is the will of HIM that sent ME, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on HIM, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. 47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on ME hath everlasting life. 48 I am that bread of life. 49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. 50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. 51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: We eat the "bread" by believing the Word that is carried to us by the Spirit of Jesus, the Holy Spirit. We do this as long as God leaves us on this earth. The elect of God hear the voice of Jesus by HIS Spirit and we follow HIM and will not follow the voice of a stranger. John 10 John 10 Jesus says: 4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. 5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. 27 My sheep hear MY voice, and I know them, and they follow ME: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any pluck them out of MY hand. 29 My Father, which gave them ME, is greater than all; and no (none) is able to pluck them out of MY Father's hand. 30 I and MY Father are one. John 6 Jesus says: 53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink HIS blood, ye have no life in you. Every time God sends HIS Word to us and we eat and drink that Word, believing on that Word, we eat the flesh of Jesus and drink HIS blood and have HIS life by HIS Word which was sent to us by God. They received manna and ate it and lived. But we receive Jesus by that Word that comes down to us from God and we eat that Word and live by HIM and life is in us each time we receive HIS Word ... I've always thought it is like receiving a blood transfusion. Jesus says: 54 Whoso eateth MY flesh, and drinketh MY blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For MY flesh is meat indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. 56 He that eateth MY flesh, and drinketh MY blood, dwelleth in ME, and I in him. 57 As the living Father hath sent ME, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth ME, even he shall live by ME. 58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever. 63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
In a culture driven by emotions, opinions, and shifting values, believers must return to Scripture as their primary source of truth, identity, and guidance. In this episode, Joseph Mattera unpacks what it truly means to know God through His Word—not merely intellectually, but transformationally. He explains why spiritual maturity requires more than inspiration; it requires building our inner life upon biblical revelation. This teaching challenges believers to: Anchor their identity in Scripture rather than emotions or culture Allow the Word to shape their thoughts, desires, and decisions Align prayer and daily living with biblical truth Re-center their lives fully on Christ The Word of God was never meant to be occasional information—it is meant to become the foundation of our lives.

(This podcast was previously published on May 11, 2021) Jesus Ministries, Joan Boney ... Mark 6 14 And king Herod heard of HIM, of Jesus; (for HIS name was spread abroad:) and he said, That John the Baptist was risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him. 15 Others said, That it is Elias. And others said, That it is a prophet, or as one of the prophets. 16 But when Herod heard thereof, he said, It is John, whom I beheaded: he is risen from the dead. 17 For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife: for he had married her. 18 For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother's wife. 19 Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not: 20 For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly. 21 And when a convenient day was come, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his lords, high captains, and chief estates of Galilee; 22 And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee. 23 And he sware unto her, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of my kingdom. 24 And she went forth, and said unto her mother, What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptist. 25 And she came in straightway with haste unto the king, and asked, saying, I will that thou give me by and by in a charger the head of John the Baptist. 26 And the king was exceeding sorry; yet for his oath's sake, and for their sakes which sat with him, he would not reject her. 27 And immediately the king sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought: and he went and beheaded him in the prison, 28 And brought his head in a charger, and gave it to the damsel: and the damsel gave it to her mother. In this Podcast, I record examples of that which they do when we speak godly things to them in church groups. ***** Pam Padgett rented a room from a woman who was twice divorced and attended the single's class at the church Pam attended. When this woman began seeking another husband, Pam warned her that, according to the Bible, the divorced woman who remarries commits adultery. This woman said to Pam, "I don't care what the Bible says." Pam was so shocked that a woman who calls herself a Christian and attends a church didn't care what the Bible says. This woman found a man in the singles class at church and planned to marry him. Pam went to this man and told him it would be adultery if he married this divorced woman. Matthew 5:32 Jesus says: But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. - The divorced woman who remarries commits adultery. - The man who marries a divorced woman commits adultery. Also Jesus said: Mark 10: 11 And HE saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. 12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery. This man said he would think about it. (But he went ahead with the planned wedding.) Pam knew the maid of honor, so she went to this woman and told her that if these people married, they would commit adultery, according to the Bible. This woman said to Pam, "I know it will be adultery, but they will marry anyway, so I'm going to go ahead and be the maid of honor." (I Timothy 5:22 neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure.) At that same time, Pam moved to housing that was farther away from that church group so she stopped going to the singles class but continued going to the main service on Sunday mornings. The singles always sat together at the 11:00 service. Pam went to the place where they always sat and sat there but no one from the singles class came to sit in that area. Pam saw them sitting farther back in the auditorium. Then the next Sunday, Pam went to the new area in the auditorium where the singles sat, but the singles were now sitting in the old area. The next week, the singles were already sitting in the auditorium when Pam arrived at the church building. Pam went to that area and sat down with the singles class. Without saying a word, they got up and moved away from Pam. Pam cried out to God, "What have I done wrong?" A few weeks later, a woman from that church came to Pam and said. "I have a word from God for you. God knows how the people in the singles class are treating you and that it is because you have warned about the marriage between the man and divorced woman, that it will result in adultery. God wants you to know you told them what HE wanted you to tell them." Pam was so grateful to God for sending her this information. *** The apostle Peter says: I Peter 4:12-14 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when HIS glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ (The Word), happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part HE (The Word) is evil spoken of, but on your part HE (The Word) is glorified. *** 2 Timothy 4:2-4 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. *** Paul spoke to Timothy: 2 Timothy 1:6-14 6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me HIS prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; 9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to HIS own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, 10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel: 11 Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. 12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know WHOM I have believed, and am persuaded that HE is able to keep that which I have committed unto HIM against that day. 13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. 14 That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us. *** Jesus says: John 16:2-3 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor ME.

1. God's holy Word is the primary instrument which brings change and growth. 2. This Word is a person, the eternal Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, our perfect High Priest.
The first installment of our study, entitled Christ the Word Made Flesh, will grow from the Gospel of John. In its opening verses, we will encounter the mystery of the Word who existed from all eternity and yet comes to dwell among us in Christ. We will reflect on the scripture's cosmic and deeply personal dimensions, as it holds together God's eternal purpose and God's nearness to human life. Sermon on John 1:1-5, 14-18, delivered by the Reverend David J. Powers on January 11th, 2026.

Romans 10v17 - "So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ"The Word of God in your heart and the value you place on it is what gives you victory over fear
(This podcast was previously recorded and published on August 22, 2020) Jesus Ministries, Joan Boney ... As we keep a scripture before us day and night, we find eventually we have a power in us which enables us to follow that scripture. In the Bible is it described as follows: Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. God leads the New Testament church today by HIS Spirit, the Holy Spirit, who lives in the believer. When God speaks to us to reveal The Word to us, the Holy Spirit is also given to those of us who believe that Word. We are sealed by God with the Holy Spirit. (Eph. 1) One of the things done by the Holy Spirit is to remind us of the Word God has given us. That shows us what we are to think upon and to do at this point in our lives. Thus we are given various scriptures to lead us and guide us and comfort us and help us. God does this by the Holy Spirit bringing these scriptures to our mind. We then think on these scriptures and apply them to our lives. Often we need to keep that scripture before us day and night, morning and evening, until it really becomes a part of us. I am currently working on the following scripture: Romans 12:18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. I look at this scripture each morning and think on the instruction given me by this scripture. At night, when I go to bed, I look again at this scripture to check myself and see if I have done what this scripture tells me to do as I have lived that day. In a few days, as I do this scripture, it will become a part of my daily life and it will overcome my flesh which wants to quarrel with other people. I believe we are recreated in the image of Christ (The Word) each time we do a scripture. In this podcast, I will speak with you about ways to set up scriptures on your Kindle tablet in your Photos (or Ipad), so you can keep scripture before you easily and think upon those scriptures given you by the Holy Spirit of God. I Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, Who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. John 14:26 Jesus says: But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in MY name, HE shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 16:13 Jesus says: Howbeit when HE, the Spirit of truth, is come, HE will guide you into all truth: for HE shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever HE shall hear, that shall HE speak: and HE will shew you things to come. John 6:63 Jesus says: It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. 1 Corinthians 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

This sermon by Mike Gowens was delivered on Sunday, 12/22/24. Gowens focuses on the prologue to John's Gospel (Jno 1:1-18), showing how John captured both his Jewish and his Greek readers with this important concept of the Divine Logos. In a logical progression of thought, John identifies the Word as the Son of God, names him Jesus Christ and reveals that this One who was both with the Father and coessential with the Father from all eternity past is the Lamb God provided as the sin-bearer.

The fullness of Christ is the standard of measure of maturity for a believer. One dimension of that fullness is the word of Christ, which we are to allow it to dwell richly in us as instructed by the Apostle Paul. The word of Christ is so much greater than just the "letters in red" that are contained in our Bibles today. In today's teaching, we unpack some of the mystery and misunderstanding surrounding God's word that so often limits believers from accessing all of His fullness.
