In the second episode in our two-part series on Cuba, host Jim Klug is joined once again by Kristen Tripp – Yellow Dog Flyfishing's program director for Cuba. Kristen is hands-down the most knowledgeable person in the game when it comes to both traveling in Cuba and fishing Cuba, and she's an incredible resource when it comes to planning or researching a trip to this interesting and – at times –complicated island nation. In this second Cuba episode, we focus on the actual fishing details for Cuba, discussing individual fishing destinations and location options throughout the country, the best time of the year to fish Cuba, the primary species available, the differences between live-aboard operations and land-based programs, and of course lots of talk about gear, equipment and flies for Cuba.- Follow us on Instagram- Follow us on Facebook- Subscribe to our Newsletter for trip specials, travel news, and more!- View the official Yellow Dog website

On this episode I am joined by AndrewTyree from Coasttocoasta.com. From Coast to Costa website: (coasttocoasta.com) "Coast to Costa organizes personalized, immersive trips to Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Spain, and Cuba. Each trip delivers unique, highly localized travel experiences with an emphasis on the culture of the region. Coast to Costa trips can range from a weekend to a couple of weeks. Founder, Andrew Tyree’s, five years spent living in Spain have afforded him fluency in Spanish which has helped him gain intimate knowledge of the countries visited. With his unique blend of passion, intuition and insider knowledge, Andrew happily alleviates the stress-factors that often accompany foreign travel: speaking the language, knowing the restaurant owners, arranging the transportation, and making all of the reservations. Each traveler can choose his or her level of involvement in the design of trip itineraries. Vacations can be designed specifically for you and your interests. Not bad. Right?!"
This episode is a recording of Cafecito y Cuba from last June that never made it on to the podcast. In this timely flashback, I go deep on the Trump administration's elimination of group people to people educational travel along with cruises and commercial flights to Cuba. I talk about why isolation will not lead to a free Cuba; why our restrictive policies are the perfect scapegoat for the Cuban government; how important it is that we fix the messaging about legal travel to Cuba; why engagement will lead to change in Cuba by re-building the once prevalent civil society on the island; and much more... The reason this episode is so timely is because on January 10th of this year, another blow to American travel to Cuba was struck when Trump cancelled charter flights to all Cuban cities outside Havana, devastating Cuban families. My thoughts on this development and a re-cap of all the restrictions since Trump took office will follow later this week. Earlier this month President Obama announced a new travel-friendly policy with Cuba. This a big step for the United States getting into Cuba since the embargo was put in place over 50 years ago. With 11.6 million North Americans cruising in 2013, this could be huge for Cuba's economy. I recently had a chance to sail on Costa Cruises' Costa Mediterreana to the Caribbean. Our 11-night voyage went to Nassau, Bahamas; the Dominican Republic, Tortola, Antigua, St. Maarten, and Freeport, Bahamas. We check in with the International Host aboard the ship and get some cruise passengers' thoughts. Thoughts or reviews? Email me: doug@cruiseradio.net Find in-depth cruise news and ship reviews at https://cruiseradio.net
