It's Friday afternoon, which means a new episode of Oilersnation Radio has been recorded and edited and is ready to massage your earholes. On today's podcast, we discussed Canada vs. Sweden, predicted what will happen against Team USA, and much more. We kicked off the newest episode of ONR with a discussion about the anthems at the 4 Nations tournament and whether we think it's appropriate to boo at a sporting event or if the fans should leave politics out of the equation. As you'll hear, no one on the podcast would boo at a hockey game, but they also weren't prepared to say that no one should do it. That said, it's a complicated situation for the NHL and one that doesn't seem to have an end in sight. Changing gears, Baggedmilk told a few stories from his quick trip to Montreal. Despite only being in the city for 39 hours, he had a lot to say about being at the 4 Nations Face-Off, Bell Centre hot dogs being overrated, and what it was like to be in the building for Canada vs. Sweden. Baggedmilk admitted he wasn't overly excited about the tournament leading up to that first game, but that changed almost immediately after walking into the Bell Centre for the first time. Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, we looked through some rumours surrounding the team as the trade deadline approaches on March 7th. Starting with the Noah Dobson rumour that had people excited, Liam threw cold water on the situation after Frank Seravalli appeared on Oilersnation Everyday and said the idea doesn't make sense from an Islanders perspective. We also looked at the latest trade board over at Daily Faceoff and tried to figure out which other names might be a fit. Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk ahead of Saturday's matchup between Canada and the USA, some Ask the Idiots questions that were all over the board, and finally our Hot and Cold Performers of the week. As always, the final chunk of the podcast was all over the map with an array of topics and side quests.

Changing gears, Wanye wanted to talk about the rumours surrounding the Dallas Mavericks and how the Luka Doncic trade could be part of a higher conspiracy. If you follow the rabbit hole down far enough, you'll see theories about the state of Texas wanting a casino to be built and how that could tie to the Mavericks being bad. Sticking with basketball, the guys also talked about Jimmy Butler getting traded to Golden State and signing a new deal for $121 million. Getting back to the Oilers, the guys looked ahead to the trade deadline and offered their thoughts on what the Oilers should be fishing for. Whether it's a defensive upgrade like a Noah Dobson or a scoring winger that pushes everyone down in the lineup, there is little doubt in any of the guys' minds that the Oilers need to do something more than nibbling around the edges. Logan Stankoven made his highly anticipated NHL Debut this weekend in Carolina. The Dallas Stars pulled out a huge 2-1 victory of the Hurricanes to stop a four game skid during a tough road trip. However, Stankoven provided a ton of the excitement, the AHL leading scorer this season did not register a point, but he looked like an everyday NHL player that fit right in. Joey is pleading the Stars to keep in the lineup, he's a responsible defender and may be the missing piece to complete the pair of Jamie Benn and Wyatt Johnston. It also makes it easier to move off players such as Ty Dellandrea as the deadline creeps closer. We shift to the Islanders, who won the first meeting in the first game under new Head Coach Patrick Roy. Since then they have struggled and find themselves 7 points out of a playoff spot. This is an important game for Dallas since they have to get on a plane to face Colorado the next day.
