On today's show, Doug discusses several different viewpoints on how Christians should handle Netflix, movies, TV, and other forms of entertainment in today's world of such easy access. In covering this topic, Doug references a list of four different questions that Christians should ask themselves before bingeing on Netflix or other entertainment sources. Could I spend this time better? Are there other shows/movies that could be more edifying? Are the lovers of such shows a great lover of the Book of God and a holy life? Does the movie increase my love of the Word of God? Does it help in some way to create a healthy discussion? Get out here Charlie Brown! A School censors a "Charlie Brown Christmas" poster. Dedra Shannon, a staffer at Patterson Middle School in Killeen, Texas, was so inspired by the scene in “A Charlie Brown Christmas”, when Linus stands on a stage and recites a passage from the Holy Bible describing the Christmas story, that she decided to use images to decorate the door to the nurse's office. The decorations included a picture of Linus, the scrawny Christmas tree and that classic passage of dialogue about the true meaning of the holiday. The decorations were installed on December 5. On December 7, Ms. Shannon was confronted by the school's principal and told she needed to take the poster because it violated the US Constitution. Today Doug also talks about the unseen misery of Christmas. Tim Thornborough, in a post, talks about how we've been fooled into thinking that our happiness at Christmas is to do with the things we have, rather than the people we are with. Do you want Santa do be apart of Christmas? How much money should you spend on presents this year? What presents are you getting this year? There are a lot of pressures during the Christmas season. Today, Doug talks about how the stress we have during the Christmas season may be a barometer of how we are living the rest of the year. If we are giving all year long and taking care of those in need, should we feel guilty about what's under the tree on Christmas? Or even what's not under the tree? Neil Diamond is on his on 50th Anniversary Tour. Here's a 75 year old man who is out doing what God has gifted him to do. Retirement in America is so often viewed as a time to stop and simply play cards or golf all day. In America we created a culture of disdain towards the older generation. This attitude is even in the Church. Do we walk into a Church with a silver haired congregation and think about the many years of experience they can offer or do we scoff and think we can't connect with them. Doug is in the studio and talking about "Five Reasons Preachers Should Listen to Hip Hop". In a post by Dan DeWitt, Dan says, "...I think preachers should listen to [hip hop] poetry as well." A good Christian hip hop artist will work really hard to take a known truth and make it feel as though it's being seen for the first time. Artists like Trip Lee produce potent metaphors for biblical truths. Doug also talks about an article by Mark Loughridge titled, "He didn't choose the lamb". Talking about the Lord's supper, why did choose bread instead of a lamb? Why did the Lamb of God not choose the lamb to make his point when he instituted the Lord's Supper at a Passover meal? Why bread? Connect with Doug Send Doug an email doug@myfamilyradio.com Follow Doug on Instagram @dughardy

The Christian church is exploding underground in Iran despite oppression. In an article by Carlos Garcia, experts say that the Christian church in Iran is growing by leaps and bounds in the shadow of an oppressive and hostile Islamic regime. Iran grew hostile to Western values, including freedom of religion, after the 1979 Iranian Revolution when the government friendly to the U.S. was replaced by Islamic extremists. Now it appears that many Iranians are growing restless with the austere Muslim culture and looking to the Christian church for spiritual fulfillment.
