The game dudes nuke their way through Sunsoft's Fester's Quest on the Nintendo Entertainment System and figure […] The post Nature vs Nurture vs Bad Video Games/Fester's Quest (NES) appeared first on NYEH Entertainment.
Everyone that I know who knows who The Addams family is knows them from the 1960s TV show or the 90s movies. A few people from this game. But basically nobody that I know knew that The Addams Family was a comic. For real, do you know anybody who knew that? I sure didn't. Neither did this week's guest Michael Bivens from Silent Journeys. But he very much did know about the old TV show. I'm really glad I had someone for this episode that grew up with the show a lot more than I did. Learn such things as: The fun non continuity of early television Between this and The Munsters, who ripped off who? How many games let you downgrade a weapon? And so much more! You can find the guest at MS Bivens.com (which includes his wonderful Silent journeys podcast) and and on Twitter @MSBivens_. A big thanks to Suck My (Fan) Fic, as well as Parent Quest for the promos today. Music by Best Day, who also didn't know this was a comic and that makes me feel a lot better.
Metadata does not work. Whether I type like a bajillion words that are highly searched, or I write two half-assed sentences, our downloads remain the same. Still, I have some sick compulsion to dump time into these descriptions. Do you read them? Can you please validate me? Anyways, we are doing an episode on the 8-Bit horror titles from Nintendo. Hell, we even throw in.a couple of Super Nintendo titles, because it's our show and we do what we want. What of it, chump? Would you like us to do a retrospective on any other systems? Any game franchises? Any game developers? Let us know, because that would be totes rad and stuff. MEGA MAN MAY ROLLS ON!Join Pat Dooley and Ricardo Giraldo for the ninth match-up of the Nintendo Entertainment Center King of Consoles tournament as they discuss baffling licensed tie-in Fester's Quest as it takes on the most accessible MM game yet, Mega Man 4. Two games enter, only one can advance to the second round! Will it be the blunderbuss-wielding, lightbulb-powering, potion-drinking Uncle Fester? Or will it be our undefeated hero battling against (or for?) racism in south Asia? It's a fun conversation, so please make sure to subscribe to make sure you don't miss a second of the action!Questions? Comments? Feel free to reach out via email, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram! My guest on today's episode is Anthony Gallegos - currently working as a game designer on Marvel Heroes, Anthony previously spent years working in the enthusiast press for sites like 1up and IGN, and has been everyone's favourite on a whole host of podcasts including GFW Radio, The Gamespy Debriefings, The Comedy Button and of course Rebel FM. We talk growing up on a naval base, the ubiquity of the NES in America, how multiplayer games were the bedrock of his early gaming life, his zoology aspirations, his time in Scotland, how a looming deadline helps beat imposter syndrome and how meeting Arthur Gies while they both worked at a Tower Records changed the course of his life. We also talk about a whole bunch of games - the never ending allure of PUBG, mainlining Everquest in college, why Gone Home was such an inspiration when he started working in design and why a little jank in a game can make all the difference. This week Earl and Jurek are joined by their friend Andrew and the three of them play Fester's Quest on the NES! This game was recommended by Andrew due to his nostalgia for the game! As you can imagine, the guys have a pretty tough go at it, considering this game is notoriously hard! While they don't get very far, the game turns out to be rather enjoyable once you figure out what to do! Come have a drink with us! Cheers! NOTE: This episode was recorded on Friday March 6, 2020. This was just before the shit hit the fan, so to speak, regarding the Coronavirus, at least in Minnesota. I'm not sure we even mention the virus in this episode. A couple other episodes were recorded in between and will be released very soon, in which we do talk about it. All this to say we hope all you Reveler's and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy out there. Apologies for the few week lapse in episodes coming out. Obviously, things got a little crazy with work and life due to the virus. But we are back, and Jurek and I have found a way to continue doing the podcast from quarantine, so we won't be going anywhere! Thanks for listening, Reveler's! ~Earl

In today's episode Craig_WK and The Glitch really are a scream, as they discuss the infamous Nintendo game Fester's Quest. They dive into the history of The Addams Family, as well as the mechanics of the game, glitches, speed run information, and discuss how the game has surprisingly good music. Then the duo chat about another licensed property, but this time it's on the Game Boy. Afterwards, for the character theme bracket, two ladies are going head to head, to see who advances into the next round!
This week Bill and Daniel are gonna talk about some NES horror games they played, or tried to play, or looked at from a distance! Can an NES game be scary? How much Fester's Quest can one person take? Can you use a NES adventure game's interface in 2019? Find out on this week's Tardy to the Party!

In our harrowing halloween themed fifth episode, we talk about family halloween trips and planning, the unexpected dangers of shower ceilings that rain syringes, Games that kept us up all night back in the day, Smash Brothers fun, the unexpected gem of a long play that was Clock Tower, and the stinker that was Fester's Quest.
If you lived through the NES era, the words "Fester's Quest" likely make you break into a cold sweat. (Sorry about that.) A few years before Raul Julia and Christopher Lloyd danced the Mamushka, kids of the '80s mostly knew The Addams Family via Sunsoft's 8-bit hit and its absolutely unforgiving difficulty. On this episode of Retronauts Micro, join Bob Mackey, Chris Antista, and Henry Gilbert as the crew works through their shared trauma, and uncovers the fascinating history of this odd little game. Ah, good old number 14. The time in a boy's life where the self mutilation gets a bit riskier, Marilyn Manson seems super awesome, and masterbation is nonstop. In this episode a wide variety of topics are discussed. We recieved our first piece of hate mail directed towards Cj! We take a journey down memory lane with items from the 1983 Sears Holiday Gift Catalog. He-Man, GI JOES, American Gladiators are all discussed. Rob fucking hates Fester's Quest yet Cj loves it?! Horrible taste in games Cj has, yes? Please send more hate mail towards Cj and if so inclined to Rob. Or love mail. We aren't picky.
