Accelya CEO, Jim Davidson, starts a new Airline Voice Radio season called “Reaching New Heights” where he invites airline digital leaders to explore retailing transformation from various vantage points to inspire the industry's journey ahead. In this season premiere, Jim chats with Neil Geurin, Managing Director of Digital Customer Experience and Distribution Strategy at American Airlines. So, where is American Airlines on its retailing transformation journey? Its starting point is to simplify interactions with the customers to match, and eventually outdo, their purchasing and servicing experience with other successful retailing companies. “If we keep changing for the better consistently, sooner or later we'll get to a point where we feel really good about what we're offering to customers, and they'll feel good about how they're interacting with us.”, Neil Geurin, American Airlines. In this episode, you'll hear that:The industry has to move with the changing times and develop fresh, new technology that customers want to interact with. When customers get used to technological advances, they can't and won't snap back to how things were before the pandemic. After all, who would go back to using a non-smartphone after years of enjoying the latest mobile technology?Outdated technology and complex processes are holding the industry back. Legacy spaghetti is no longer the plat du jour, and airlines are rethinking their sales and servicing processes to simplify them and accelerate the change. We hope you enjoy this first episode in the “Reaching New Heights” season. We have some great airline leaders lined up for future podcasts, so stay tuned.

Judith Geurin was last seen in Sodus Point, NY in late January of 1991. Her boyfriend said that Judith had left to move to Florida but the only thing missing was Judith. She had left behind all of her belongings, even her car. The police did not have any reason to suspect foul play so Judith's case went cold for many years. There is no record of Judith accessing her finances or using her social security number after January of 1991. Years later, police began to suspect that Judith had been the victim of foul play.If you have any information regarding the disappearance of Judith Guerin please call the Wayne County Sheriff's Office at 315-946-5773 or 315-946-9771.This episode was co-researched and written by Marissa Jones and Erika Gwynn. Shortly after the conclusion of the Women's World Cup earlier this summer, a friend suggested to me that it signaled the long-awaited arrival of soccer as a mainstream sport in the U.S. I thought a second, remembering the commercials around the game and the way the television cameras shot the crowd. Then I responded that I thought it wasn't really the long-awaited arrival of soccer, but the emergence of women's sports into the mainstream of American culture. This is something of an exaggeration. But the summer of the World Cup is perhaps a perfect time to think through the position of women's sports in global society. Nancy Lough and Andrea N. Geurin do just that in their new edited Routledge Handbook of the Business of Women's Sport (Routledge, 2019). Lough and Guerin bring together forty different authors to survey the status of women's sports in 2019. The essays range from discussions of the history of women's sports to analyses of media representation of women in sports to the economics and management of women's sports. Collectively, it is a remarkable accomplishment. Lough and Guerin offer a comprehensive survey of the field while pointing to future questions and topics of research. The coverage is scholarly, but with an eye to the political and sports culture in which women's sports exists. Anyone interested in understanding the business of women's sports should start here. Kelly McFall is Professor of History and Director of the Honors Program at Newman University. He’s the author of four modules in the Reacting to the Past series, including The Needs of Others: Human Rights, International Organizations and Intervention in Rwanda, 1994, published by W. W. Norton Press, and (with Abigail Perkiss) Changing the Game: Title IX, Gender and Athletics in American Universities, to be published by W. W. Norton in November 2019. Shannon Geurin joins us this week to share her story of infidelity and fighting for her marriage and her identity in Christ. She is brave and bold as she tells us of her journey back into her marriage and relationship with her husband as well as her God. Shannon's marriage was redeemed, and she found her identity as God's fiercely beloved daughter. She now has the Fiercely His movement online and can be found at www.shannongeurin.com
What do you think of when you hear the words infidelity or adultery? Most assume it's a man who was the perpetrator. Many assume that it is a death sentence for a marriage (or death for the spouse if it ever happened to them!) Most imagine that forgiveness and mercy would be impossible; trust and intimacy could never truly be restored. Even Jesus said adultery was a legit pass to get out of a marriage, right? On the show today, Shannon Geurin shares about how she walked through the pain of betrayal in her marriage eleven years ago, however, she was the offender. She had believed the lie that she no longer wanted her husband and had found true love in another. After confessing to her husband, her plan was to leave him and their girls for a life with elsewhere. But, God... Today, Shannon and her husband John are living a fully restored marriage and love story as a result of grace, commitment, and a lot of hard work on both sides. Shannon's mission is to help women rise up from the pain and brokenness of their mistakes and realize their worth and value to God, to understand that they are fiercely His. To learn more about Shannon, read her blog, and contact her about speaking, go to www.shannongeurin.com

Show Notes: During today's main episode release, we discuss David Geurin's (@DavidGeurin) piece about why some educators burn out while others grow to be more passionate. We all agree on the six points posited by Geurin, but must one be outwardly passionate in order to be an effective educator? We end the main episode with a wonderful AARP quiz on how much sugar we eat, and more importantly a better quiz that checks our knowledge on Hispanic Heritage Month. “Focus on the person you are fighting for, not the person you are fighting with.” -John Guerin Do you have a secret that you’re keeping from your husband? Some of us might sneak in a few pairs of shoes inside brown grocery bag or perhaps there is a secret Amazon account attached to an off-the-radar credit card, secrets are never good for a relationship. But what about a bigger secret? Are you hiding secret feelings from your husband about the guy at the office who gives great shoulder rubs? Do you feel a growing affection for your neighbor who always has time to fix something when your hubby is busy? On this episode of the Better Together podcast, I’m talking with speaker and author Shannon Geurin. Shannon and her husband, John live in Colorado and they are parents of two daughters. Twelve years ago, Shannon began an emotional affair with a man that led to a physical affair. As Shannon says, "And that affair led me to do the unthinkable. I was going to leave my family - husband and my little girls." This is a raw conversation, friends. Shannon speaks with humility about the mistakes that she made, the lies that she believed, the forgiveness that she received and the long five-year road that she walked with her husband after her affair. Even if you think that it isn’t possible for you to even find yourself in Shannon’s situation, there are plenty of other ways in life when we can get off-track in life. Listen as Shannon shares not only the warnings signs, but take heart and have hope as Shannon also shares how you can find your way back if you’ve made big mistakes and you’re wondering if you can ever overcome them. In Jesus’ name, you can! THREE STEPS TOWARD FORGIVENESS & RESTORATION: Surround yourself with people who are supporting the decision that you are making. Write down God’s promises and post them where they can encourage you. Don’t let shame and guilt rob you of God’s forgiveness and your future.
