Meet Arabella Hooper. This is what happens when focus and discipline meets an organized plan! There's a saying that goes; if you want to get something done, give the job to a busy person, and if you're into extreme productivity, getting results and squeezing a little more out of each day, I think you're going to love this interview. My guest today is a 16 year veteran and this is the first year she nominated to be listed in REB's Top 100 agents in Australia. She's also a mother of four young children so I'm thinking the only way she can achieve such impressive results is because she's organized with industry-best systems. Her entry into the list of elite top earners is due to pure numbers in terms of listings and sales. She's not selling $5 million dollar homes in Sydney or Melbourne, she based in the beautiful hills district just outside Adelaide South Australia. And for my listeners not familiar with the Adelaide Hills, we're talking about some of the most beautiful country on earth. Lush green rolling hills, horse studs, hobby farms, larger commercial agricultural operations and home to some of the most successful and award-winning wine companies in Australia and the world. Arabella Hooper is a team member at Harris Real Estate.  As you'll hear in a moment, there's little time for indecision and time-wasting in her world. Listen out for her strategy on working with unmotivated sellers and how she's learned about the damage they can do to your productivity and your business. And we get into the weeds on some very relevant ideas that will help you lift your results. Meet Arabella

At the age of 28, Tom Hector is already a veteran in the industry. He got his big break when he was still a teenager, winning the 2008 South Australian Auction Idol competition, and has never looked back. Having pressed pause on the plumbing apprenticeship he took up after leaving year 12, his success in the industry means he is unlikely to go back any time soon. This financial year to date he had sold 207 properties. Having just stepped on to the AREC stage this year he told the audience, “If you have lots of volume but not the skill to back it up, you won’t get repeat business. If you have great skill but not volume, that business is not sustainable." In this episode of the podcast, you’ll discover Tom’s tactics for building a sustainable business that scales. But you'll discover them through the eyes of a couple of young agents - Adam Bryant and Bobby Reynolds from Agency Central. We handed them the interviewers mics for the podcast for both this week's episode (and also next week's with Alex Mintorn of McGrath). “I'm extremely process driven because when you're selling a large number of properties - whether you like it or not - you have to be process driven. If you're not - things are definitely going to go wrong and when you're conducting 15/20/25 open for inspections on a Saturday, you just have to move that stock. Because - if it goes 'dead' after 30 or 45 days, the vendors start to dislike you, they start to want to go to a different agent or they start blaming you - that you're the problem - and not the price.” - Tom Hector Some topics discussed include: Why we gave up the host mics for the podcast at AREC 2019 Process driven agents vs more ‘flexible’ approaches - and why they can both work How Adam and Bobby got to James Clear when no-one else could Barbara Corcoran’s two key questions to hiring the right agents for your team (awesome tip!) IN SERVICE OF SERVING OTHERS This week I sit down with the always energetic, ever articulate Phil Harris. Phil is the owner of Harris Real Estate, South Australia’s largest privately owned real estate agency. Phil is one of the most driven people I know. He was the most driven young agent when I first saw him work almost 10 years ago and is still up beat, up tempo and always traying to improve. Only one thing outmatches Phil’s desire to succeed and that is his desire to serve others. Phil’s specific essay question was: “Managing Director, Auctioneer, Namesake and Brain-Child of Harris Real Estate; you’ve created an Innovative Market Leader, with a renowned necessity for top quality service. What is it about your self-talk whether that be inner motivation or inner demons that push you to be relentlessly competitive? That push you to be at the top of your game?” We cover all manner of principles of success, from Phil’s fear of failing through to his passionate pursuit of education. He dives into the changes he has experiences since becoming a family man and how he is slowly trying to reprogramme his brain to have faith, and let go of what he cannot control. "I was making more money than I knew what to do with, but I wasn't happy". So James Williams, AKA "The Kid" or "TK", quit real estate to pursue a career in ... rap music. At Rooster Radio, we often talk about the entrepreneur's "jump" - quitting your job to take a risk and pursue a dream - but few have leaped like James! He wasn't just a real estate agent, at 23 he was a founding partner in Harris Real Estate, one of South Australia's most recognised real estate brands. He was pulling in as much as six figures a month. But one day he stunned his business partner, family and friends by saying "he's done", selling out of the business to pursue his dream to create hip hop music. James shares insights into what he calls a "mid life crisis at 25". Using the determination and systems he'd learned as a real estate agent, "The kid" burst onto the scene winning rap battles and taking on the world. The notoriety and millions of listens brought more than just jealousy and criticism - he faced death threats, abuse, and was threatened with a knife before going on stage. Now creating music not for fame but for the love of it, James also shares his learnings from real estate and rap as a coach for agents and business people, and is also on the speaking circuit. In this truly unique Rooster Radio, we talk sales, success, skateboarding, freedom and love ... with a bit of freestyle rap, too.
