One of the most consistently requested guest since the beginning of HardLore: THOMAS PEARSON, vocalist of Atlanta's FOUNDATION finally joins us for an epic 3-hour episode documenting Foundation's beginning, ending, and everything in between. Since their breakup in 2016, Atlanta's FOUNDATION has become a mythical band to new fans of hardcore music, a band who's message carried as much meaning and weight as their now-iconic metallic twist on straight edge hardcore. We discuss Thomas' beginnings as a hardcore kid inspired by frontmen who went above and beyond to use their time on stage as a platform to do good, his bands before Foundation, how writing evolved when Hank joined the band, putting everything they had (at the time) into their one and only LP, and finally going out on their shield with their best record. This was one of our favorite conversations in the history of the show, enjoy. HardLore is now on Patreon! Earlier this year, historians and film maniacs alike sat by excitedly awaiting Ari Aster's newest film. It was going to be perfect. It had to be! After two wildly successful horror films, Ari was on track to go 3 for 3. Well, that was April and now we're in July and HYH is just barely discussing the events in the film despite HYH considering herself to be one of Ari's biggest fans! Hell, she has a midsommar poster in her bedroom! What is there to say about Beau is Afraid? Is there anything to it? How do you analyze a film like this? Well, HYH tries and compares this Jewish lord of the rings to other Jewish films. Is Ari's third film the best? (Spoiler: absolutely not). Josh chats about the beautiful friendships he has in his life and how important his support network is to staying mentally healthy. He opens up about his struggle with anxiety and how, with the support of his family, friends and professional guidance, Josh was able to grow and learn from his experiences. We laugh a lot and we cover the serious stuff. I bloody loved this episode. A big thanks to Josh for being so open and vulnerable on HYH today. Hope you love it team!! We talk about how staying organised helps her mental health, the key thing to do after leaving a long relationship and the importance of not giving up (even after 24 attempts)! Today we have Zach in the studio! Zach is an absolute legend and just an all round good egg. We cover SO MUCH in this episode. Zach speaks about the difficulty he has with opening up to people close to him and the way he has tackled with the idea that he can 'figure it out on his own'. We talk about the road less travelled and how Zach worked his way up through the ranks to where he is today (in the most unconventional way possible, btw). Zach also shares the struggle him and his wonderful partner went through last year, experiencing a miscarriage. We discuss the importance of being there for your mates and opening up the conversation. I can't thank Zach enough for coming on and being so open and honest with me. Hope you guys bloody love it! Enjoy! We also add to the HYH playlist which can be found HERE! **Trigger warning: There is discussion of miscarriage throughout this episode. Today we have the wonderful Leigh in the studio! A fellow teacher friend and an all round bloody legend. The Saturday after this was recorded, Leigh packed up his life and headed to Adelaide to live with his long-term partner. We talk about how he's feeling about this big change, the (new and different) things he does for his mental health, and the last time Leigh felt proud of himself. Leigh talks a lot about the gratitude he has for his family and his mates and how important it is to let people know they're appreciated. I loved this chat. I hope you do too! Enjoy team! Now 20 years old, Jayden was one of those people who experienced harsh Melbourne lockdowns during his final years of schooling. Thank you so much to Jayden for coming in and being so vulnerable with me today. I hope you guys enjoy this one! We also add to the HYH playlist which can be found HERE! Today we have Darcy in the studio. Darcy is a video producer at Producey Studios and has helped me out with THCYM so much over the past year. Darcy joins me to talk about the importance of family, a good home-cooked meal and the fact that you don't need a uni degree to land a bloody cool job like his. We chat about imposter syndrome and that a little bit of confidence can go a long way. This was equal parts fun and informative and I'm stoked that Darc agreed to jump on today. It's been about 2-months since the last episode. What a ride.Just before Christmas I was stopped dead in my tracks and forced to accept a journey I did not expect to be taking. This episode is part-1 of a 2-part series and dives into where I've been, what happened that fateful day, and the beautiful lessons I was offered in the process of it all. It's story time over here at the HYH podcast. I hope you find some gems you can put in your pocket and take away for yourself.Full show notes for this episodeThe Main Jam...That snowy dayIgnoring the whispersThe energy of 2023Embodied wisdom vs. studied knowledgeThe healing power of touchSigns we're in flow - even if it doesn't feel like itReceiving loveWhat is “the space between”What the hip representsWhat the right side body representsThe physical expression of self-trustSurrendering all controlThanks for sticking around. Hey team! Welcome to another episode of How's Ya Head? Your weekly check in with a mate. Today is exciting!! This is the first HYH episode I have done with someone I do not know. Alex was kind enough to put his hand up and spend his time chatting with me. We talk about his ACL recovery, how he uses podcasts to help check in with mates and his MASSIVE move to a new town for a new job. He talks about putting himself out there to meet new people and how focusing on gratitude helped him find his feet. Hey team! Welcome to another episode of How's Ya Head? Your weekly check in with a mate. Today I (very casually) chat to my boyfriend, Stratos. Our combined squirrel brains can't stay on a topic for long. Stratos shares a bit about his work whiteboard, how golf has helped his mental health and that his ideal day is just every Saturday we've had recently. We also laugh, a lot, and you get a bit of an insight as to why I keep him around. I hope this inspires you to have a giggle with someone you love this week. This episode is coming off the heels of a month away from the HYH podcast. A month. Never did I think I would be taking a break so soon. In the past, I would have crumbled into a puddle of shame and fear and self-criticism. Shame for needing space to fall apart and come back together, shame for not keeping consistent, and fear of being abandoned for taking care of my needs. But I've about had enough of that. And won't be perpetuating that in my work or putting that energy out into the world. I just don't have the energy or the need to play that game anymore. We're human. We need space to be so.This episode is all about that. About trusting the process and how we need to move through it. About sourcing our sense of safety and power from within so we're not at the whim of external circumstances in order to feel ok in the world. The only thing our soul cares about, is the journey home. Let's normalize prioritizing that. This podcast has been years in the making. Many sleepless nights and deep inner-ponderings went into deciding if it would even exist at all. So to be writing this kind of feels surreal. This is the first official episode of the Hey You Human podcast, and I will admit, feels a bit on the heavy side. And I think that's because of how much this means to me and how long I've been holding it in gestation. It's almost as if this intro episode was a contraction of sorts. In this episode, I do my best to walk my talk and tell my story. Or at least the parts I feel are relevant to the HYH podcast. I'm sure that over time more of it will come through naturally. But I feel this is a good place to start. It's tough to read the label on your own jar. And I've also found that the more we click into the present moment, the harder it is to remember our past.I hope that this episode creates a feeling of connection. Human-to-human. Soul-to-soul.
