Ashley was born in Fruita, Colorado but now resides in Tempe, Arizona where she lives with her husband Rick and 2 French Bulldog's Bobby and Sonny. She is living her dream daily by helping change the lives of others through her nutrition and fitness coaching business Ashley Wiens Fitness.  Ashley grew up very athletic  and pursued her passion for basketball at the collegiate level playing and eventually coaching for Colorado State University.  A college career ending basketball knee injury is what got Ashley interested in pursuing bodybuilding because she wanted something to focus on to get back into the best shape of her life after she recovered. Ashley started learning the ins and outs of competing and used her B.S. degree in Food and Nutritional Sciences with her concentration in dietetics to help her prepare for her very first show where she coached herself. After 1 year and 4 shows later Ashley became a IFBB Bikini pro in 2015 at North Americans and eventually crossed over into the IFBB Figure division in 2017. She has placed top 10 in multiple IFBB Pro Figure shows but currently is focusing on her coaching and training business instead of competing. Ashley loves competing and everything it has taught her. She loves the everyday lifestyle of following a nutrition plan or tracking macros and working out and continues to live the same lifestyle even though she isn't currently competing. Currently, Ashley run's her personal training business out of a small private training gym in Chandler, Arizona called Elev8 Fitness. She does in person and online training and is also a Neufit practitioner helping people get out of pain and train in a more efficient way using neuromuscular reprogramming. Her number one goal in life right now is to help as many people as she can to live a fit and healthy lifestyle in a way that is realistic and maintainable.

Herzlich willkommen zur 51. Folge "Beauties & Beasts", dem Podcast von IFBB Pro Johanna Dürr. In dieser Folge habe ich IFBB Figure Pro Athletin Viola Burk zu Gast. Viola ist die erste Figure-Gesamtsiegerin der Dennis James Classic in Deutschland. Hier hat sie 2018 ihre Profi-Lizenz gewonnen. Und nachdem jetzt zum drölftausendsten Mal die Frage an mich gestellt wurde, ob ich eine Essstörung habe - habe ich mit Viola einen Gast der sehr offen über ihre eigenen Erfahrungen mit einer Magersucht spricht und wie sie durch den Sport und das entsprechende Essverhalten diese besiegen konnte. Auf Momente großer Erfolge hat die unglaublich starke Person Viola aber auch schon schwere Rückschläge in ihrer noch jungen Karriere hinnehmen müssen. Zahlreiche Verletzungen und Lock-downs haben sie immer wieder zurückgeworfen. Ihr erfahrt, wie Viola an diesen Situationen gewachsen ist und dafür in anderen Bereichen ihres Lebens umso mehr Gas gegeben hat. Sie ist Paradebeispiel dafür, wie einen die Eigenschaften aus dem Sport auch im Leben weiterbringen. From Bikini Pro to Figure Pro with Ashley Wiens   Competing should be a choice not a coerce — by yourself or anybody else. And you have to make the right choice. "How I do that?" You ask. You do that by asking yourself the right questions, such as: Why should I compete? Do I have what it takes to compete in bodybuilding? What is my goal? In which category should I compete?    When you catch a glimpse of the alluring pictures of bodybuilders, there's no doubt: bodybuilding is a sport that you want to dip your toes into. But unfortunately, it's not as easy and glamorous as the pictures suggest. A lot of work goes into making the figures you see in those photos as glorious as they look. The good thing is, when you make the choice to compete — not just doing it for the sake of it — you will be committed to your "why" and it's unlikely you will be swept out to sea when the process gets tough. I'm so excited to have had the chance to get on the podcast to chat with Dr. John Rusin and touch on some of the common myths surrounding females and fitness. One of the best parts of my job is having the opportunity to work with so many different people including both men and women, but one thing that doesn't change much in my programming is the style of training. I get so many questions from women about how they should manipulate their male partner's lifting program to suit themselves, whether they should be lifting higher reps as opposed to lower, etc. the list goes on. I hope in this podcast we were able to bust some of those myths and encourage women to lift heavy to build the body they want and to embrace their strength!
