Dave Clawson and Dabo Swinney became good friends over the course of Clawson's 11 seasons as head coach at Wake Forest. Clawson came agonizingly close to beating Clemson but never did, and he says he's particularly haunted by the 2022 game the Tigers won 51-45 in double overtime on the Deacons' home field. Clawson has great respect for not just the program and culture Swinney has built, but for the 2025 team that he believes looks a lot like the powerhouse that won two national titles and advanced to the playoffs every season from 2015 to 2020. Bryce Koon covers LSU for The Bengal Tiger of the On3 network. He joins the podcast to share what Brian Kelly is like behind the scenes and says it's quite a lot different from what is perceived from afar. How many LSU fans will trek to Clemson, even those who aren't going to get into the stadium? How much pressure is on Kelly to win big this year? And what can Clemson fans expect a year from now when Swinney's Tigers return the favor and visit Baton Rouge?

In this powerful and deeply personal episode of the Tick Boot Camp Podcast, Doug Morrow, a retired Hofstra University professor and professional musician, shares how a family outing to the Morton Bird Sanctuary in April 2012 changed his life. Doug went on a picnic after visiting the bird sanctuary with his 6-year-old son, Antonio, and his wife, Diane. He found a tick biting him the day after the picnic. Just months later, Doug developed mysterious, recurring fevers that doctors struggled to diagnose. It wasn't until a medical emergency during a trip to California that Doug learned he had Babesiosis, a life-threatening parasitic infection spread by ticks. With the tireless advocacy of his wife Diane and the sharp eye of a California infectious disease doctor, Doug was properly diagnosed and began a months-long recovery that included antimalarial medications, blood transfusions, and natural remedies. Today, Doug reflects on the importance of early detection, preventive care, and maintaining a strong immune system through lifestyle, diet, and love.

I love Peavey amps from the early-to-mid 1980s, because I grew up with them in my favorite music shop, Clawson's Music in Corpus Christi, TX. In my last 80s Peavey episode, I looked at the Special 130, that is a killer amp, but is heavy, way too loud for most gigs, and at times a bit non-intuitive due to the mid-shift and multiple gain controls. My buddy, Mike LoPinto, who plays with Chris Stapleton, clued me into the Studio Pro 40. It checks all of the boxes, as it is easy to carry, has plenty of volume, a full sound with an Eminence 12 inch speaker, and is pretty cheap at the current going price of $100-$200. For me, it is a great grab and go amp, and the perfect amp to take to the gig as a backup to my Headstrong Lil King, or my Fender 1965 Deluxe Reverb. Amanda Clawson and her Grade 4 students recently won a contest naming Hancock Health's new da Vinci 5 surgical system robot. The Sugar Creek Elementary teacher said, “I just went for it, and the kids were excited about it. I didn't really think anything would come of it or that we would win because the whole county could enter, but it was just exciting for the kids to win.”The robot, one of 1,700 in the country, is used in surgeries for hernias, gallbladder and uterine-related issues. Other Indianapolis-area hospitals also have the technology that allows patients to have minimally invasive procedures, faster healing and shorter downtimes.Student Lili Appleget said, “There's like little microscopes, and it'll poke little holes so it can get to what it needs to get to.”Appleget who came up with the idea to name it “Gizmo.” The fourth graders voted on the name and submitted it for the contest. Lili thinks the name will make kids comfortable when they are in the hospital, and that it's easy to pronounce.Clawson's class got to take a trip to the hospital to learn how the robot works. For the teacher, the experience was not just about winning, but also about giving her students a chance to see the impact of their efforts and learn that they can be a part of something much bigger than themselves. “Especially to have them have important community members recognize their writing and pay attention to their writing. They don't get that very often.”The teacher hopes to enter future classes in similar competitions to show her students that they have a powerful voice in science, technology, and beyond. “It was fun, engaging. It got the kids to write more. Even if it wasn't a writing project, it was more of a STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) project, but we included writing with it, so something math related could be fun in the future or continuing our writing journey.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Noble Village, known for the popular Noble Fish sushi restaurant and White Wolf Japanese patisserie, will be opening two new Asian food halls in Metro Detroit. The first, a 12,000-square-foot location, will be in Clawson at the site of the existing Noble Fish and White Wolf locations. This hall will incorporate the existing brands, expand seating and offerings, and include a ramen counter and a cocktail bar. The Clawson food hall is expected to open in phases beginning in March and include an adjacent grocery section and a larger grab-and-go selection. The second project, a massive 34,000-square-foot food hall in Novi, will be at the current location of One World Market, a Japanese grocery store owned by the same group. This location will be significantly larger and include more food concepts including a cocktail bar, an Asian fried chicken concept, a sandwich concept, an Izakaya restaurant, an expansive second floor theater space, and an expanded marketplace including an Asian spirits section. It is projected to open within a couple of years. Doran Brooks, director of business development for Noble Village Group, joined us on the show to talk about not only the two major upcoming expansions, but his story and things he's learned over the years as a restauranteur. Unique podcast today because I'm actually being interviewed by Michael Clawson, who's the editor of Western Art Collector and he has his own podcast, which is the American Art Collective. So you'll be able to listen to this podcast on either platform. He wanted to come down and talk to me about Maynard Dixon and interview me. And I said, well, why don't you just use my studio and we can do it together? You know, you interview me just like you would any other guest, and I'll tell you whatever you want to know. And we did that. I talked on Dixon for a very long time, for about an hour and 15 minutes. It was a very interesting podcast, because when I do a lecture, it's more of a chronological, you know, follow along, connect the dots kind of thing. This really was more of a question/answer format type of podcast. Michael specifically wanted to do this interview because I have a new Maynard Dixon and Native American Art Museum that opened next to my gallery here in Tucson, Arizona. He wanted to let his listeners and readers know about this museum, which is kind of a lifelong conglomeration of all the things that I've collected and learned about Maynard Dixon. So It was very kind of him to have me on his podcast to do that and to talk about Dixon while we celebrate his 150th birthday. If you like Maynard Dixon, I think you'll find this podcast very interesting.

Detour To Clawson Resigining From Wake And Vick To Norfolk State Rumors by Ed Lane
If you want to know how the United States will gin up the impending war with Iran, we need only look to the past, and previous wars we've artificially precipitated with phony catalysts. So explained Middle East scholar Patrick Clawson in a now-notorious speech as he ADVOCATED for what he called “crisis initiation” to make war with Iran happen. Jimmy and Americans' Comedian Kurt Metzger discuss Clawson's description of past “crisis initiations” that have led to wars like the attack on the Maine, Pearl Harbor, and the Gulf of Tonkin incident. Plus segments on the conviction of Uhuru Movement members on conspiracy charges for “weaponizing free speech” and a health insurance provider backtracking on refusing to cover the cost of anasthesia after the killing of UnitedHealth CEO Brian Thompson. Also featuring Uhuru Movement Chairman Omali Yeshitela, Stef Zamorano and Mike MacRae. And a phone call from Andrew Cuomo!

Round 1: Marine Demoted for Wearing Unauthorized Decorations A senior Marine, then-Sgt. Maj. Charlie Clawson, was demoted to sergeant after a court-martial found him guilty of wearing unauthorized military awards, including the Purple Heart and Combat Action Ribbon, which represent significant honors. Clawson faced nine counts under the Uniform Code of Military Justice for "unbecoming conduct" and for submitting a fake doctoral degree. His actions are notable as one of the largest active-duty "stolen valor" cases in recent history. This issue shocked military figures, as Clawson held senior roles and received undeserved respect from peers. Round 2: Controversial Campaign Attire in Japan Female campaign staff for Japanese political candidate Masafumi Tabuchi drew attention for wearing mini-skirts and fishnets while working to attract votes, stirring online debate. Many saw this as inappropriate for the political setting, while Tabuchi claimed he was unaware of the attire choice until later. The incident generated discussion on social media about professionalism in political campaigns, and whether this tactic was an appeal to specific voters or merely a misjudgment in campaign attire. Round 3: Celebrity Endorsements in the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election In the 2024 election, celebrities are split in support between candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. Harris has garnered endorsements from prominent figures like Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and Oprah Winfrey, who align with her positions on social and climate issues. Trump's support comes from influencers such as Elon Musk, Kid Rock, and Hulk Hogan, aligning with his business-focused policies and more conservative voter base. These endorsements reflect a division within the entertainment industry, with supporters using their platforms to rally voter engagement for each candidate. Round 5: Halloween vs. Christmas Decoration Dispute in Australia A neighborhood dispute arose in Queensland, Australia, where residents displaying Christmas decorations before Halloween received anonymous letters requesting they take them down to preserve Halloween's atmosphere. One resident, Melanie Ryan, expressed frustration, noting her decorations bring joy, especially to her children. The anonymous letter argued that early Christmas decor undermines Halloween's spirit, sparking a local debate over holiday timing and respect for festive traditions. You can find every episode of this show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or YouTube. Rev. Douglas Clawson considered Matthew 28:20b, “And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age,” at the Reformed Forum Annual Theology Conference held on September 28, 2024 at Hope OPC in Grayslake, Illinois. Rev. Douglas Clawson unpacks the profound promise found in Matthew 28:20, where Jesus assures his disciples of His continual presence as they carry out the Great Commission. Rev. Clawson carefully traces this theme of God's presence from the Old Testament through to its fulfillment in Christ, emphasizing the deep continuity of God's dwelling with his people. Beginning with the genealogy in Matthew, Rev. Clawson explores how Jesus, as the fulfillment of both the Abrahamic and Davidic covenants, is the ultimate expression of “God with us”—Emmanuel. This theme, introduced at the beginning of Matthew's gospel, is powerfully echoed in Christ's final words to his disciples, promising to be with them “to the end of the age.” Rev. Clawson highlights how this promise of presence goes beyond omnipresence or general providence, focusing instead on Christ's intimate, covenantal presence with his people. Through a rich biblical theology, Rev. Clawson ties Jesus' promise to God's presence with Israel in the wilderness, in the tabernacle, and through the prophets. He draws parallels between God's extensive and intensive presence among his people in the Old Testament and Jesus' presence with his disciples through the Holy Spirit. This promise is foundational for the church's mission, giving believers assurance that they never labor alone, but are always accompanied by Christ. This address encourages listeners to reflect on the deep theological implications of Christ's presence with his church, both now and until the consummation of the age. It is a stirring reminder that, as the church fulfills the Great Commission, Jesus—the Great “I Am”—is ever-present with his people, empowering and sustaining them.

Welcome to your Daily Detroit, your essential guide to what's happening in Southeast Michigan. It's Wednesday, June 12, 2024, and we're broadcasting from our studio at TechTown. First off, a huge congratulations to Hajime Sato of Sozai in Clawson for winning the James Beard Award for Best Chef! It's fantastic to see a spot in the suburbs, like Clawson, getting recognition alongside Detroit. We also talk about the vibrant restaurant scene in Oak Park and the regional growth that lifts everyone. Next, we discuss Councilman Scott Benson's renewed push for health inspection placards at Detroit restaurants. The proposed system would use a simple pass/fail color code (green for pass, red for fail) to indicate health inspection results. Despite some pushback from business groups, we argue that this measure is essential for public safety and transparency. We then shift our focus to Royal Oak, where a contentious meeting resulted in the approval of a 42-unit apartment development on an old bank site. Despite local opposition citing increased traffic and a desire to maintain a "rural feel," the need for more housing in Metro Detroit ultimately won out. We delve into the broader issue of NIMBYism and its impact on regional development. Lastly, we discuss the political landscape as Dennis Archer Jr. hints at a mayoral run if Mayor Mike Duggan doesn't seek re-election. With his deep connections in both the business and local communities, Archer Jr. could be a formidable candidate. We explore what his potential candidacy means for the city and the challenges he might face. Don't forget to support local media by becoming a member on Patreon.
