Here is what we discussed: - Since the dawn of social media marketing, marketers and brands have been trying to determine the absolute best times to post on any given social platform. - In reality, there is not a one-size-fits-all, best time to post. There are many factors that play a part in determining the engagement on your post. (For Example: your audience, your industry, your product, the quality of your content, etc.) - However, knowing the generic best times, determined by overall engagement, will give you a step in the right direction when determining when to post on social. - The data in this article comes from sprout social. - Facebook posts that are published between 11am and 1pm tend to see the most engagement. Thursday and Friday also see relatively high interactions. - Another thing to note would be the worst times to post. The data shows that content posted on Sundays see the lowest amount of engagement on Facebook. - On Instagram, the highest engagement tends to occur on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10am to 11am. - This is surprising to see that the most people are not checking their social feeds during their morning commute or after work. - On Twitter, Wednesday and Friday win again although it is the 9am slot instead of mid-morning. - Tweets also see less engagement after 10pm - LinkedIn’s engagement statistics have seen a significant increase overall. This makes it a harder decision of when to post, but also allows for more options. - We do see a spike in engagement from 8am to 10am, then a drop at 11am, then back up from 12pm to 3pm. Here is what we discussed: - A Facebook profile picture should be no smaller than 180 x 180px. The photo can be larger, but should still maintain the aspect ration of 1:1 - 820 x 312px seems to work best when it comes to uploading your Facebook cover photo (on a personal page). Once again, it can be larger, but must keep the same ratio. -When sharing images on Facebook, make sure that they are 1200 x 630px. This will allow them to appear without cutting off anything in the preview. -When uploading media to Facebook, make sure the file is a PNG, JPG or GIF -Twitter profile photo size is 400 x 400 px. -Your header image on twitter should be 1500 x 500px to avoid cutting anything out of the image. -Photos posted in your timeline should be 1024 x 512px this will allow the full image to be seen when scrolling through your timeline. -Twitter supports 4 file types: PNG, JPG, GIF, and WEBP. -Instagram profile photo only shows as 180 x 180px. Instagram does not allow you to view a profile photo (other than the thumbnail), so it does not have to be a large image. -Canva- This is really good if you have no graphic design background. They supply templates and guides on how to create these graphics with their intuitive interface. There is even a free account that you can do many things in if you are unsure that you will use it enough to spend money on it. - https://www.canva.com -Adobe Spark- This is really good if you have an Adobe Creative Cloud license. Here is what we discussed: - In October of 2018, LinkedIn updated its feed algorithm to help private users get their content seen while simultaneously reducing the reach of LinkedIn’s “Power Users”. - Even though interactions on LinkedIn have grown 50% YoY, the majority of those interactions were with the top 1% of influencers on the platform. - Almost 600 million business professionals share content, grow their networks, and find jobs using LinkedIn. - The main LinkedIn feed is based on an algorithm, not on recency. - Similar to Facebook & Instagram, your news feed is designed to show you content that they think is relevant and that you will engage with, rather than most recent content - LinkedIn users can sort the content in their feed by “Top” posts, or Recent posts. - Fortunately, this means that you do not have to, nor should you, post 20 times a day - Unfortunately, this means that just posting to post does not cut it. If you want to consistently make it into people’s feeds, you will need to be regularly putting out and producing good content that your followers reliably engage with. - It is important to note that your content is ranked and displayed based on your reputation (i.e. how users have engaged with your content before) - While your content is going through the second filter, LinkedIn’s algorithm bots look closely at how your audience engages with your content. - Pro Tip: We highly recommend optimizing your initial post time based on your analytics or other recommended times. If brands wish to be successful on social media, they will need to keep up with mobile-centric video trends. - Get your Facebook Business Page moving. - Introduce your brand, and the people within the brand, authentically. You can also show off your latest product, or use the time to promote an upcoming sale or event. - Caption your content. You can do this using Headliner or Handbrake. - Use a mix of various video types to keep things interesting. (Live video, Tutorial video, Informational video, BTS videos, UGC videos, etc.) - Promote and distribute your content for maximum impact. - Build a buzz around your Facebook Live event. If you have a video series, promote it like a TV show. Watch what TV show accounts do in order to build a buzz on social around their upcoming episode. - Finally, make sure to check your metrics. This is very important because it shows you which videos are performing the best. If you have a mix of video content, then it will show you which ones your audience likes the best.
